Some stories stay with you long after the last page… because they are true.
Have you ever felt like someone was watching you when no one was there? Heard a sound you couldn’t explain? Seen a shadow move in the corner of your eye?
True Haunts is a chilling collection of firsthand real paranormal encounters and true ghost stories, told by those who lived through them. These are not campfire stories or urban legends, but real experiences that will make you question everything you thought you knew about the unknown.
Each story begins in an ordinary place—a quiet drive at night, a peaceful camping trip, a routine work shift. But as the unease builds, what starts as a passing chill becomes something far more terrifying. Doors open on their own. Voices whisper from the darkness. Something is lurking just beyond the veil of reality.
These encounters don’t just haunt the people who experience them—they change them forever. And after reading, you may never feel quite as safe in the comfort of your own home again.
Because these stories can happen to anyone, anywhere.
I'm always looking for a great book about true stories that will freak me out. What I liked about True Haunts—Vol 1: Real Paranormal Encounters and True Ghost Stories, by Adam Norton, is that they are true. The collection of stories covers a wide array of experiences, with several that easily resonate with readers who have been in similar situations, had something happen they can't explain, and have written it off as their mind playing tricks on them. Next time, they'll remember these stories and might now cast their experience aside so quickly. It's a great book of stories woven into a reading experience that will make you feel like the hair on your neck is trying to run away. I look forward to Vol2, but this time, I'll experience it in a "well-lit" room instead of a dark, lamp-lit room (although the chills only enhance the experience).
This is another in the type of book that has a variety of strange things going on but that are not usually tied in to standard odd things and beings.
Examples included a janitor in a haunted building, knocking on a door but no one is there, a convenience story that seems to be haunted, a shadow figure, a staring guy, the standard black-eyed visitors, strange mimicking phone calls and other things.
It's pretty standard stuff for this type of book. Interesting but not really amazing.
