"Cozy fans will be charmed.” —Publishers Weekly

It’s a family reunion week at The Charmed Inn and the place is overrun with the Fairfield clan…

Every room is rented and every bed is full for Roxy Gleason and her staff. The family dynamics are a little strained at the outset but things get down and dirty when one of the matriarchs is found dead in the library with a candlestick. But who did the killing and why?

Roxy doesn’t want to get involved until her archnemesis in the local police department tries to pin the whole thing on one of her kitchen staff. There is no way the woman with the golden spatula would jeopardize her entire life’s work over a secret recipe… Or is there?

Roxy will have to use her gift in all the ways she knows how to be able to keep her friend from being caught up in a web of hot chocolate, divinely prepared pie and murder a la mode.

Fans of Lucy Score, Melissa F. Miller, Dianne Harman, Lynn Cahoon, Deany Ray, Kathi Daley, and Merryn Allingham will enjoy Misty Simon.

Yay, loving this series. This is book 3 (definitely read the first two books so you don't miss a minute), and Roxy and her staff are ready for a vacation. Everyone gets the week off... what a wonderful idea. But first, murder. The matriarch of the family reunion staying at the inn is killed. We learn more about Poobah and Glennis and even Norm. Again, well-drawn characters and a solid plot. Yes, red herrings abound... just what you need in a cozy.

This is the latest in the “Charmed Inn Mysteries” series and if you haven’t read them, you should be! Though each book is a stand-alone, you really need to read the first two in order to get the full understanding of what’s going on. Roxy runs a small family B&B In a small town on the Susquehanna River. There are several family members who help her run the place, but the brunt of the work falls to Roxy. Oh, and there’s a resident ghost in the basement who you can contact through a payphone hidden behind a secret panel behind the welcome desk. Roxy’s family all have “powers”. Roxy’s is getting cryptic answers from books. When she asks a question, if a book throws out sparkles, she picks it ups and words pop out into the air to answer her–unfortunately, the message isn’t always easy to figure out. She also has a boyfriend, Dean, whose brother and his two kids live in the guest cottage behind the inn. And a cook who can be quite grumpy at times.

In this story, a large family is having a reunion at the inn. Everything seems to be going okay until the last day when one of the family members ends up dead. In the library. With the candlestick. And all the clues point to Glynnis, the cook. Roxy and Dean go to work to solve the murder but in doing so, uncover some secrets that have been buried for decades. And a couple new ones that crop up concerning Dean and his family.

Misty Simon never fails to entertain with her wry wit and saucy sarcasm to go along with a darned good mystery. A lot of cozy mysteries come across on the serious side, but not Ms Simon. You will giggle if not outright laugh at the shenanigans in her books. If you want to smile while being entertained with a puzzle, pick up any one of her mysteries.

Definitely recommended.

A Ferry Long Way to go is the 3rd wonderful book in Misty Simon's The Charmed Inn Mysteries. Roxy Gleason owns The Charmed Inn and they have a family group coming in and then the staff are all getting a week off. Unfortunately one of the family members end up dead and one of the staff is a suspect. Roxy, her sister Mena, and Roxy's boyfriend Dean need to sort through the secrets and reveal the culprit or everyone's vacation is cancelled. On top of that, Roxy is a bibliomancer and gets messages from books. All of Roxy's family has magical abilities and they can't tell anyone who isn't magical which is causing major problems for Roxy. This is a fun part of the story. The characters are likable and the cozy mystery kept me guessing. I really enjoyed this book and series! I received an advance copy for free from Misty Simon and I voluntarily leave this review.

A Ferry Long Way to Go is the 3rd book in the Charmed Inn Mystery series by Misty Simon.

I loved the first two books in the series, and this third book was fantastic!

Roxy is back and its vacation time for everyone. A whole week off!

Before that can happen, there is a murder. There is a family reunion at the inn and the matriarch of the family, is murdered.

The characters are well written and complex.

I loved to follow the clues and the red herrings.

I was guessing until the very end.

Highly recommend to any cozy mystery lovers!

A family reunion turns into an extended stay at the Charmed Inn when one of the family’s matriarchs is killed in the library with a candlestick. While trying to find the murderer and keep one of her employees from being charged, Roxy must also figure out how to explain her and her family’s abilities to her significant other.

Readers can’t help but love a series where the resident ghost can be reached by a payphone hidden under the steps. With plenty of red herrings and twists and turns, this mystery keeps readers entertained from start to finish. I highly recommend this series.
