My first Novella written by her but I’m no stranger to her work. Just call her PENny Hardaway, she knows what to do with it.
Veniche was a young scammer hunny, introduced to the life as a teen by a man six years her senior. Led by what she thought was love, motivated by quick money, and determined to take care of her mother who was disabled in a car accident years prior she stayed the treacherous, unpredictable course. All of these things had Niche losing herself and in a dead end relationship with a two timing, scum bag. The good thing about being at your lowest is the only way to go is up. When an unexpected proposition from a regular lands in her lap, Niche finds herself in a situation she never thought could happen.
This is a short salacious tale on upping the score! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
3.75⭐️/🌶️🌶️ This was my first book by this author, and I was very surprised. This book is a little rough around the edges, so please check the trigger warnings. The book was well-paced, and the structure flowed well. I loved the MMC down. He’s giving BDE and husband material. The FMC was not my favorite, but she was trying to better herself, which I am all for.
This novella was pick for one of my bookclubs. I had to reminder that the book is a novella because of the lace with the characters. I was happy that the FMC ex got what he deserves before the book ended.
And you know what?? Hell yeah 🤏🏾🤏🏾🤏🏾 Gave exactly what it said it was gonna give and it’s been so long since I’ve had a little urban romance action. I’m going to check out the other novellas this author wrote
I know. I know. I am late to the party with this one!
There are moments I be like WTF was I doing and how TF did I overlook this one?!
I vividly remember when this came out. Something about the cover had me thinking more “street”. Granted, I enjoy street but I didn’t want to read then.
Randomly picking it to read today, I was expecting street vibes again.
Baby, I was absolutely wrong.
The prelude’s first paragraph cleared that up immediately 😏😩🤣
If you’ve read this, you know the spice is HEAVY! But it also has a really good storyline.
We follow our 24 year old FMC who is dealing with: a no good boyfriend, his baby mama, and the FMC’s “sugar daddy” (about 4 years older than her).
——————— -quick read with amazing pacing -FMC & MMC chemistry…amazing -spice was frequent and well placed in the storyline. Those scenes were indeed 🥵🥵🥵 -Niche, our FMC, was hilarious! She clowned her ex and his baby mama every moment she could (rightfully so)! -The entire novella was well written. Although it was a quick read, it was fast paced without feeling like you missed anything! ————————
“pen game 🔏✅” moment:
This book had a lot of spicy scenes throughout (starting consistently in chapter 2). To me, the spice scenes didn’t overtake the story but complimented the moment it was written in.
“pen game 🔏✅” moment:
The PLOT twist!!!! I don’t like to give spoilers but the way the ending unfolded was so good!
The author wrote it in such a way that even if you thought you knew what would happen- you still wouldn’t have expected it to play out quite like that!
———-
Thoroughly enjoyed this read and will be reading author’s newest release soon (dark paranormal)
Veniche is a bartender at a strip club, struggling to care for her disabled mother and save enough to open up her nailbar. To make her dreams come true she hits licks with her boyfriend, Dime. He’s a fallen dealer who scams now and is clearly jealous of his own girl.
With infidelity, abuse and the grit of the streets looming over their heads, Veniche gets a peek at what real love is and what life could be like without Dime when met with a crazy proposition.
Quick read but it was hella messy and enjoyable. Give it a go!
The disrespect is HIGH in this novella with drama popping off the first page! Najee and Veniche's bond and chemistry were strong straight out the gate, and they became each other’s safe havens. Veniche’s ex-boyfriend, Dime, aint worth two dead flies smashed and crashes OUT when she moves on, but Najee said “Aht, Aht” and her mom was with the shits, too! Definitely worth the read!
Star level: 4.5 stars Spice level: 4/5 🌶️ Trope: BDE, Ex-Stripper, widower, scorn ex, situationship Fav quotes: “It’s the essence of my aura that makes niggas cum without even havin’ to touch me. You know I’m that bitch, and I almost forgot that I was, but sweetheart, I’m done entertaining your bullshit.” “I knew we were sent to each other to heal one another and I was right!” ““Streetheart, from this moment on, you’ll move forward. You ain’t gotta worry about nothing from your past because I’ll clean it up for you,” Najee told me.” About the book: The book had me hook from the beginning! Veniche is an ex-stripper working as a bottle girl dealing with a struggling relationship with her current boyfriend. And this man is no good, still sneaking around messing with his babymama and doing drug. But they are stuck together because of some of the things they have done in the past and he holds the actives they have done over their face. But she already had one foot out the door all it takes is him letting that no good for nothing babymama in they house while she was at her mom for a few days. He Had her staying in the house like they where one happy family, when Veniche seen her I mean she whooped that girl when she found out he came out the bathroom trying to break them up and he got a little too. And no matter how much pleading he did she did not go back. Then we have Najee ex-thug now legitimate money maker his cousin J what’s to cheer his cousin up, since his wife died he has been his self. So J came to Veniche with a proposition she came refuse. When they first meet he’s a little stand offish, but she works her magic and and just when she thinks she got him and run off. Days go by and he finally reaches out they make plans and here is when their situationship start. It’s going smooth until he no good ex comes back around now she trying to leave. He like naw we staying together then she trying to fix the issue on the low all while he need her to do something for him I thought he was setting her up but he was fixing all her problems and I loved it and this is the one time I love a nosey mom the tell all the tea. I wanted more lol.
Let’s be clear honey! Natavia’s pen doesn’t miss. Ever. This was my first novella from her, and she still wrote like the rent was due and the Wi-Fi depended on it.
Veniche was out here running plays, chasing fast money, and mistaking struggle for love. The streets had her name, and Dime? Chile… that man was the ghetto definition of dead weight. Loud, lazy, jealous... the holy trinity of red flags. 🚩
Then boom! Najee (MY MAN. MY MAN. MY MAN.) stepped in like still water after a storm. Quiet, protective, grown. The type that doesn’t talk you out your pain, he just makes you feel safe enough to stop pretending it doesn’t exist. 🖤
Veniche’s story hit because it was real. No sugarcoating, no fairytale endings... just a woman finally realizing she’s worth more than surviving. You can feel her growing through every bad decision, every tear, every soft moment she almost didn’t believe she deserved.
The book was short but heavy, like a sermon in stilettos. You’ll blink and it’s over, but the lesson stays: peace is the real come up.
4 stars only because I needed another 100 pages of Najee’s fine, emotionally mature energy. Streetheart proves hood love can be messy, sacred, and freeing all at once.
Veniche...my girl stopped chasing bags that couldn’t hold her peace & got her HEA.
I saw this book posted by @literallyloreads on Bookstagram and the cover caught my attention. Verniche was a young girl that got caught up with an older man Dime. He had her helping him set people up to be robbed. The story follows her as she tries to leave that lifestyle and start a legal business.
She was given a proposition at work by a customer and that’s where Najee comes in. Dime did not see Najee coming and I love that for him. Najee and Verniche needed each other to move forward in their lives. Loved this story and I wish it was longer. It was a quick read from a new to me author. She’s another author I would love to get into her catalog. A story on Jamari next please?
Hey none of us are perfect and I truly believe that once Veniche knew better she did better, she has a past but she definitely has plans for the future, I loved how she kept it cute, didn't tell people about her moves and her mom was her best friend.
Now Dime he clearly has no vision, seems like he was good with the life and basically leeching off niche, him and his trifling baby mama got what they deserved, sorry to that two year old.
Najee reminds me of my husband ( not that my husband unalives people) but in the way that he was the strong silent type that had your back no matter what!
I definitely wouldn't mind a story on Jamari as well.
Natavia’s pen game is one of the baddest! 131 pages of straight 🔥 I read this book in one sitting and did not stop reading until I was finished.
This is a short story but so well written that it didn’t feel short . Najee and Veniche was a perfect fit and was put together by fate.
What can I say about Veniche’s ex Dime? Dime did my girl so dirty, but thank God she had a praying momma. God blessed her with a true dime” named Najee who in the end served up a nice dose of karma.
To know me is to know I am a Natavia Stan Fan. So good from beginning to end. The detailed background of Dime and Veniche was so good, it really puts you there mentally. To have a great imagination is a wonderful thing. The story behind Shawn and why Niche was allowing Dime to play all in her face. Londa, yeah she got to it and before Dime. But, the banter and heat between Niche and her knight in shining armor, Najee, Chef’s kiss. I loved it, the wanting and longing, omg. Najee’s trauma and Niche’s trauma ended with a HEA. Loved it Natavia.
Although I'm not new to Natavia it has been a while since I've read a book by her. That being said Streetheart was definitely the book to get me hooked again! Oooo there was so much in this novella. Novellas are hit or miss for me because I need them to still flow like a full-length read. Najee and Veniche’s chemistry made for a good book and a fantastic reading experience!
This book had a little of everything from heartbreak, and angst, to love, and acceptance. All of the characters gave what was needed (even the horrible ones) and although he isn't worth a mention Dime played his part right and left me hating him even more by the end of this book!😆
Natavia did her big one with this release. She gave an emotional ride from Veniche’s pov with a heartbreakingly beautiful pov for Najee. These two needed each other and that came through on the pages. This novella hit all the marks and although I want more, the way this story played out I'm also good and satisfied!
This was so damn good I could only hope that it was longer… Only Natavia can give you a whole book from beginning to end only within a few hundred pages and it was everything… Najee was everything Niche didn’t know she needed and wanted until he was right in front of her… Niche showed so much growth and maturity I was rooting for her to get the hell away from Dime since page one… Definitely loved this and can’t wait for what’s next
This was such a good book, Natavia Did a great job with this story That it has you second guessing if it is actually real did not think the main character was going to ever leave her no good boyfriend, But baby when she did that's when she was on her boss Ish. Sometimes we have to leave the bad That's weighing us down To get to something so beautiful That it has you second guessing if it is actually real
This was a good short read and Natavia doesn’t deliver anything less!!!.. I truly enjoyed the chemistry btwn Veiche and Najee!!!…They were the example of sometimes it takes a different type of person to pull you out of a slump or a different type of person to show you what you are missing!!!…
Great quick read! Author Natavia always gives books that entertain from beginning to end. Loved Niche & Najee's unexpected meeting & love story. Dime was a cheating, abusive boyfriend to Niche that had me praying she'd wise up and run! Definitely wouldn't mind a part 2. Good read!
Yessss, Ms.Natavia you have done it again with this Tasty Hood Novella. Wish this wasn't a novella. I truly enjoyed Najee & Niche's story. Thank you momma Deanda wanting more for your baby girl. I am so glad Dime & Londa got what they deserved. If you enjoyed Natavia's beginning books, you will not be disappointed💯.
I liked this novella!! Now it still had it's far share of drama but that was taken care of quick. The cousins clearly don't play. I liked how everything was genuine with them and nothing was forced and Niche stood on business with Dime no matter the crazy coming out his mouth. Overall nice story!!
As always, a pin pencil and a keyboard never last long in your hands cause you just kill it all.
All I can tell you is that you’re not gonna be able to put this book down. Every character has it placed so with that being said open the book or click it on your tablet however, you enjoy to read you won’t be disappointed
Ok I see you I'm glad Viench got out of that relationship with Dime he was scum frfr didn't mean her no good he was just using her ....
Najee was different frfr and her mom knew and seen that he was going be perfect for her daughter But I wish could have been little bitmore of the romance between them ... But other than that it was good
As always my favorite Author never disappoints her readers nor herself. If you want that real fantasy urban ”StreetHeart” love story while still cut throat, than why you still going through the reviews.. Everything she drops is 🔥 no copy-cat shii ova here. Betta get the reading and find out..
I’m so used to reading Natalia’s novels but this Novella turned out to be an awesome read. It was well written, flowed well and definitely kept my attention. If Vaniche hadn’t been with a lowlife like Dime, she wouldn’t have known what a jewel like Najee could be. I loved how he loved and stood up for her.
Turn them lemons into lemonade and that clown to a Boss!!!! Niche you had me worried girl, I thought dooky booty had mind contra over you girl and I was wondering why you ain’t pop them when you popped up but I see now you ain’t have that on you!!! Okay. My Najee, Lawd I want one like that after tho not his before my scaryass ain’t down like that!
I felt like I was a part of the crew reading this novella. Im from MD and still live here and it was nice seeing my county and known cities mentioned. Ive followed Natavia now. Was an easy read and I just love ma dukes character. I was too excited when that door opened 🙃. Im so glad they worked out. Can’t wait to check out more from Natavia.
My girl don’t miss, and I mean that. From urban to paranormal, her pen game is penning. Natavia quickly became a favorite author over the last 2 years. When she drops a book, I know it’s worth taking a break from whatever I’m reading.
I love a real Alpha Male and Najee was that. Veniche was out here wilding and being grimy with Dime only to turn it around. She was a real rose that grew from the concrete. Also can we talk about how Najee was putting in that work!!! Pound Town spicy.
