I was squealing so much, which made me happy just in the sense that the delay it took for me to get my preorder was ridiculous! But again, it was so worth it because I loved every single page!
Seeing these two come together and have such joy on their faces made my heart feel so light! Aoi has grown SO much, and admired her courage in speaking her heart, despite that she felt she had no idea what she was doing. Her brother called Sena sincere, and I feel that is 100% accurate because he was so gentle but completely giddy at Aoi's words. (Well, giddy might not be quite the right word, but as another character said, he IS smitten!)
I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing their growth and was proud of Aoi's brother as well! I was unsure of what was going to happen once he found out, and was surprised by how he initially reacted. Thankfully, it was short-lived (though the humor was on point LOL) and very interested if the next volume will have some focus on him because of the way this volume ended! I definitely wouldn't mind, but I need to see our leads flourishing together, so hopefully there will be lots more to come!!
Overall, I feel this might be my new favorite volume in the series! It once again reminded me how amazing shoujo is and why I love it so much! <3
This series is so straightforward, but it is luxuriously so. Doing the traditional romance without making it feel like it’s utterly old hat takes some effort and this story has only gotten better as the volumes have gone on.
The development of Aoi and Sena’s relationship may have taken a more usual sort of path, but it only takes one moment where it veers off that route to jolt this thing to life like never before.
Oh, yes, the world’s most obvious weather pattern might have leant a hand there, sure, but Aoi does the truly heavy lifting and seeing her change over these last couple volumes has been utterly charming. She’s not the type of inexperienced girl who lets that stop her or won’t ask for help.
There’s a lot going on this volume, as this is all precipitated by Aoi fighting past her social anxiety to spend time with her class. She’s very relatable in her ‘boy I wish this was cancelled’ energy and I love that Sena picks up on her mood.
Let’s not move on without acknowledging how great Sena is for Aoi. This is not one of those series where you wonder what these two are doing together. They are both way into one another and act appropriately. Especially when they’re let loose via dating one another. I appreciate the heck out of any manga that writes the actual dating stuff rather than just the courtship.
If I have one mild complaint, it’s how overboard the phrasing of said confession is. I mean, we’re dealing with teenagers, so you expect a certain amount of overkill in this respect. Yet I think the more traditional ‘I like you’ would have worked a smidge better.
Now, Sena is also best friends with Aoi’s brother, Itsuki, and I like that the story does acknowledge how potentially awkward the new relationship is, since it runs the risk of getting in the way of the old one.
This might get resolved a little more easily than I would like, but I am glad it didn’t just keep going for the heck of it. The side gag where a bunch of the girls start going crazy (with joy) because they think Sena and Itsuki are sleeping together is also a great gag about this sort of shipping (guilty as charged).
We also get some fascinating potential for a second coupling and that’s looking to be a fun side story in and of itself, but the main couple is absolutely the star of this particular show. That’s not something I say often, but this portrayal of figuring it out together really works.
The romance is on point in these chapters and is actually romantic - you can feel the warmth in those hugs. These two might be moving fast, but it’s a speed that feels appropriate. Mix in the usual excellent friend antics and you have something that might be the best of the series to date. It even observes some of the odder social things that I have noted in life as well, such as your appeal as a romantic partner suddenly going up once you are dating somebody else.
4.5 stars - this is like a hamburger made of out of really expensive beef. The basic design is pretty pedestrian, but it hides something truly special inside. Such a great volume.
Sorpresa, sorpresa apareixen feelings inesperadament Molt cuqui!!!
If death by cuteness was a thing I need to be reborn. It was all so cute and I like that he acknowledged he should have asked before their first kiss but did before their second. I like that she wanted the kisses! Her brother is so cute too, I like that it wasn't anything weird just he has to catch up to how his sister has grown... that's cute. And her friends, love that.
