After seeing her sister save the neighboring country of Parnacorta from a demonic invasion, Mia vows to take revenge on the man who betrayed Philia--the second prince, Julius. Meanwhile, Philia has an audience with the king of Parnacorta to request aid for her hometown, even if it once spurned her for being insufferably perfect. Bolstered by support for the first time in her life, Philia begins to hatch a secret plan that could reach all corners of the globe!
"Nothing can begin without communication. Have faith in those around you. You are free to desire things."
That ending left me so emotional because what a twist to be revealed!
I deeply appreciated how BOTH sisters had the spotlight this volume, though! It's exactly what I was hoping for!
However, I think this volume surpassed my expectations overall because I felt so proud of everyone and all the brave decisions they were making. Everyone is growing, and it's beautiful to see, even if I wish it were for much different reasons than Prince Julius's unhinged actions, because how in the world are you going to throw a banquet during a national crisis?!
Moving on, though…
Sweet Philia, I'm so glad we are seeing her be more and more "human"! I realize that could be an odd thing to say, but the way she is asking for help and learning about her emotions is so powerful and touching. I am thankful that she realizes she can admit her feelings even if it is at odds with how she was raised and things she was taught.
And precious Mia! She is not giving up, and I am loving it! The person she touched in this volume really touched my heart as well, and I got emotional from it. She's so brave, and I'm glad that she was able to see that the very person she wants to protect is also wanting to protect her.
I am eagerly looking forward to the next volume because I am so hopeful good things are in store, even if it looks so very bleak right now!
i enjoyed this so much! i really love the art and i loved the sisters. although philia and mia are different in terms of personality, they love each other without hesitation and unconditionally. although so many people were trying to pit against philia, she still did whatever she thinks is right and i’m so glad the people around her now are all supportive of her.
setup volume - lots of really great progress in mia's story and also a bombshell of a family reveal at the end..!! hopefully next volume is more philia!!

Mia has a larger focus in this volume as we see her efforts to win over Prince Ferdinand and her encounter with Philia's mentor. Philia's scenes are mostly her worrying over Mia and refining her medication, though we do finally meet the king in this volume. We also see Grace's sisters and more of their dynamics as they play off each other's strengths and weaknesses to help Philia protect everyone. The next volume is likely to have a lot of key scenes included given where this leaves off with the barrier and the situation with the troops.
