FRIENDSHIPS FOREVER BROKEN! UNLESS...Amaori Renako is under attack from all directions. There's a girl trying to break up her relationship, it's just been announced that Mai is engaged to someone else, and now she's learning that she might just be the cause of her sister's problems?! With everything seemingly falling apart, Renako realizes it's finally time to face her fears and leave her loser, loner past behind. But will that be enough to prove she can stand on her own two feet?
This continues to be one of my favorite series of all time. Renako is just so relatable to me specifically, and her way with words is just so charming. It was good to see some of her back story get filled out, and this volume has some great wish fulfillment (with a twist) as well as some great appearances by great side characters. (I'm still mad at Satsuki though, and hope volume 8 redeems her, though I'm sure she will be redeemed eventually)
Watanare is funny, charming, and full of moments that make me have to pause for a second and process what just happened/message my friends about it and how insane it makes me feel. That is to say that it is just as wild if not more so than the previous 6 volumes. I’m not sure if the author knows but Renako continues to be as tgirl coded as always. I would almost describe one of the plot lines as a trans girl revenge fantasy, a real “I used to be a gloomy loner shut in who got bullied and only cared about playing video games, now I’ve blossomed into a cute girl with a social life and I’m gonna stick it to those bullies at the class reunion” situation. I’m gonna stop myself there because the trans girl analysis of Renako’s character is a tangent I could write entire essays about if I don’t stop myself.
As with volume 6, her relationships with the main 4 girls take a bit of a back seat to the drama with her and her sister, and the overall developing plot. But there’s still quite a bit of them. There’s a lot to love about this one as with every prior volume. It’s the kind of book you can’t put down, there’s a reason I tore through it in the span of 2 days. I’m honestly kinda sad that I finished it so quickly because I’m going to have to wait so long for the next volume. I like these books so much I’ll probably reread them all after not too long anyway though.
Anyway really good book, very fun, highly recommend. But also if you haven’t read the previous volumes then a review for the seventh isn’t really useful, and if you have read them you don’t need me to tell you that this is going to be good
