this novel’s only redeeming quality is that kinnporsche the series exists

I have many thoughts and they aren't good ones. Long review coming up soon.
Update: Spoilers for both the series and the novel ahead!
KinnPorsche is a series that impacted me a lot. I still haven't gotten over it, I keep watching the same scenes over and over everyday. Even though I can name a few problems it has in regards to specifically the writing, I love it and I'm glad it entered my life. My favourite aspect of the show was undeniably VegasPete, both as a pair and individually. They mesmerized me, holding my attention from beginning to end. Their story was touching and beautiful, including the toxic parts, because without them, the very essence of their relationship would not exist. I could write a whole essay about them as people and as a couple but with this review, I want to bring up the differences between the source material and the series and showcase just how much better the show is. I had heard sketchy things about the novel before reading it but I wanted more VegasPete in my life, so I decided to read their story specifically.
I spent most of my time reading it either in shock, boredom or annoyance. The reasons are many and as follows:
- The novel is too long. Yes, really. We spend most of our time inside Pete's head where he's either scared, bored or anxious, explaining to us that, day after day, he was alone in Vegas' room while he was at university. Does this add anything to the story or their relationship? Not really. The series managed with a couple of scenes to make me believe that those two people started having feelings for each other. The book had potential to exceed that but didn't.
- Both Vegas and Pete are worse characters here than in the series. Pete in the novel is whiny, obsessed with karma and kind of stupid, while Vegas in the novel is a delusional maniac with little justification for what he does (especially the r*ping). I know that Vegas is a sadist and Pete a masochist, I see this everywhere whenever someone dares disagree with the choices of the writers and I'm sick of it. They justified Pete's r*pe by having him dead ass say he enjoyed the pain and sought it out after he escaped from Vegas, while a couple of chapters back also having him say how horrible he felt. Truly truly awful.
- The r*ping that Vegas does makes their relationship afterwards irredeemable. I know that in the series he sexually harasses him by touching him in various places but 1. It's super tame and he never goes full way, it's just a game to him and 2. When they end up having sex, everything about it is consensual. He tortures him, yes, but only physically because he ruined his plans and because he views him as his toy. Later on, this changes steadily and organically.
- The reason they have a fight and Pete escapes is honestly so stupid, it baffles me. The series, with so little time compared to the novel, gave us a scene of Vegas cooking food for Pete (they never specified in the series that Pete likes spicy food but it doesn't matter because the difference between his other meals and this one is apparent to the viewer), Vegas' dad coming in and ruining everything, both Vegas and Pete feeling horrible for different reasons, Pete challenging Vegas about his life choices and then Vegas losing it and regressing to his previous behaviour with Pete, which resulted to the whole breakdown. In the novel, and I kid you not, they fight because Pete got jealous of a friend of Vegas, thinking they were dating. I'm speechless.
- After Pete escapes, Vegas stalks him repeatedly which makes me feel uncomfortable and makes Vegas worse as a character. In the series, he saw him once with the help of Porsche (actually saw him and interacted with him instead of hiding) and then nothing until the final showdown of the two families. This way, it makes their final scenes more impactful.
- The scene at the pool never happens. Instead, we have Vegas being in a car accident which diminishes the tension of their situation. They never talk it out, Pete simply runs after him and witnesses the car crash. Anticlimactic to say the least.
- We spend too much time between the accident and the time Vegas wakes up. I certainly wouldn't mind having a scene with Pete agonizing over whether Vegas would make it or not, but 1. we already got that with the pool scene and 2. it was literally the end of the show, we didn't have time.
I can keep at it but I think that's enough. VegasPete in the series is something precious to me. It made me question myself, made me love two broken people trying to find solace in each other and made me interested in an industry I hadn't even known existed before. The novel version made me feel disgust, anger and frustration. I'm so so glad BOC changed many of the problematic things that happen in the novel and created new scenes and experiences for the viewers. I can't thank the series enough.
If you're interested to see for yourselves what the novel includes, I won't stop you. Just keep in mind, it's more twisted and sickening than the show could ever dream of being.

I literally told a coworker today that reading these is like a train wreck. Like they’re not good but I fear I am so invested in what is happening with Pete right now.

EPICO creo que es la primera vez que uso esta palabra para describir un libro.
Sin decir mucho los personajes son lo mejor de la historia
Personajes destacables y el motivo de este último libro.
*Khun (risas aseguradas)
*Porsche (sentimientos encontrados)
*Che ( hermandad)
*Tae ( las novias de la mafia/perdonar todo por amor)
*Pete (Sufrimiento por amor)
Sin mas que decir porque no terminaría nunca así que queda aca.
Sin decir mucho los personajes son lo mejor de la historia

When the show was airing, I remember so many people obsessing over VegasPete. I honestly had zero interest in them at the time, so I did not think I would like this volume since its mostly VP. But ohhh man, do I love them in this book. This entire series is going on my favorites list.

This volume covered all of Pete's captivity and the Stockholm Syndrome of both Vegas & Pete. Vegas was more terrifying, in my opinion, because of how his attitude did a 180 regarding Pete.

Tengo tantos pensamientos y sentimientos que no sé por dónde empezar.
Más de la mitad del libro estuve tremendamente frustrada por el comportamiento de Porsche. Ya desde el libro 3 se me estaba haciendo muy difícil leer a Porsche por su alto nivel de testarudez y no querer escuchar, pero aquí siguió multiplicándose, y honestamente ya me estaba cansando. Y quiero mucho a Porsche, es un gran personaje, pero esa característica que estuvo presente EN CADA PARTE DE LOS LIBROS, me desesperó. En el libro 1 y 2 estuvo llevada muy decentemente, pero ya en el 3 lo que uno espera es crecimiento, y ni que decir en el libro 4.
Y me da mucho coraje porque pienso en Kinn. Kinn tuvo un estupendo crecimiento a lo largo de la historia. Llegó a ser la persona que necesitaba Porsche, que consideraba sus sentimientos y que siempre iba a estar ahí para protegerlo. ¿Y qué hace Porsche? Empujarlo lejos, dudando de él cuando ni siquiera le había comunicado todo lo que estaba pasando en su cabeza. Cuando pasó la escena con el problema de la casa y todo el drama que hizo Porsche, me quedé como “¿es en serio?”. No es que defienda lo que pasó, pero ¿qué parte de que Kinn es parte de la mafia, Porsche no entendió? ¿Qué parte de que se odiaban, Porsche no captó? ¿Qué parte de que Kinn y Porsche no les importaba nada del otro, Porsche no recuerda? FUE EXTREMADAMENTE FRUSTRANTE.
Hasta aquí y un poquito más yo ya estaba odiando el libro, la verdad.
Y me duele, me duele lo que pudo haber sentido Kinn con el comportamiento de Porsche. El libro no tiene capítulos desde el punto de vista de Kinn, así que solo lo puedo imaginar, y mi corazón sufre por Kinn EN TODO EL LIBRO. ¿Cómo es que llegué a esto? Ahora culpen a Porsche. Kinn merece que crean en él.
Si no hubiera sido por la parte final del libro, no hubiera habido forma de haberlo salvado. La última parte fue tan buena que le subieron mi calificación.
Esta última parte estuvo WOW, pues aquí ya se descubren muchas cosas que en los libros anteriores habían mencionado superficialmente. El pasado de Porsche estuvo intenso, sabemos ahora bien qué piensa Korn y qué juegos se tiene entre manos. Estuvo muy bueno leer todo eso. Debo decir que Korn es un manipulador, que le da más importancia al poder que a la felicidad de sus hijos, y me cae mal.
Y el final especial (insertar suspiro profundo). ¿Ya dije que Korn me cae mal, verdad? Bueno… ¡PORSCHE! ¡¿ES EN SERIO?! Hasta el final, me frustro con Porsche 😭😭😭 ¿Por qué habla con Vegas sin decirle a Kinn? ¿Por qué no le cuenta a Kinn lo que piensa y lo que siente? ¿POR QUÉ?
En este libro también se continúa con el vegaspete. Las historias del vegaspete estuvieron mejor, me gustaron más. Pero si soy honesta, a mí el vegaspete en los libros me da igual, así que no tengo mucho de qué hablar de la pareja.
Aspectos a destacar:
- Khun, uno de los mejores personajes.
- Chay me sorprendió, mucho más maduro que Porsche. Aplausos 👏🏻
- Kim es un badass, pero eso ya lo sabíamos.
El libro quedó con final abierto. Más que los siguientes libros, estoy más emocionada por la segunda temporada de KinnPorsche The Series, cuyo primera va en el capítulo 11 (faltan 3 y se termina 🥺), pero sin duda, desde mi punto de vista, la serie ha estado mucho mejor que los libros por muchísimas cosas, pero si tengo que decir una: Los personajes. Los personajes de la serie están mejor desarrollados y a todos los quiero.
Orden de libros que más me gustó al que menos me gustó:
- Libro 2: Por la gran tormenta de emociones que me hizo sentir.
- Libro 3: La parte de Kinn me encantó. Aquí Kinn se convirtió en mi personaje favorito que ya me estaba gustando en el libro 2.
- Libro 4: La parte final del libro lo salvó.
- Libro 1: Es la primera parte de la historia, mayormente fue la pelea interna de Porsche.

Leí apresuradamente el libro porque esperaba que me aclarara muchas dudas de la serie pero no, nada. Incluso me di cuenta que el final era algo diferente así que me dejó con duda de que pasará en la segunda temporada del libro y cómo harán su adaptación en la serie.
Este libro me gustó mucho porque ocurrieron muchas cosas inesperadas. Si bien el romance entre KinnPorsche ya estaba establecido un poco más, habrá mucho drama entre ellos por todos los secretos que los rodean sin que ellos lo sepan. Además, la pareja de VegasPete pasa por la negación y muchos problemas al ser uno fiel a la primera familia y el otro pertenecer a la segunda familia.
De verdad que el drama se desata a todo lo que da en este libro y me causó un poco de frustración saber que hay que esperar a la temporada dos de la historia para ver si la autora nos cuenta toda la verdad real, pero eso lo hizo muy interesante.
Creo que fue uno de los libros de la serie que más logró atraparme y espero con ansias su continuación.

¡¡¡AL FIN!!! AL FIN LO TERMINE
Sentí este último libro malditamente largo y con demasiado relleno, sin mencionar.... que definitivamente me siento bastante estafada con todo.
Este último libro definitivamente debería llamarse Dramas familiares y como no lidiar con tu relación amorosa
Hubo demasiado D.R.A.M.A pero no drama del bueno, sino del que te hace cuestionarte como es que enserio esta pasando y porque los personajes piensan así.
Primero que nada... Vegas y Pete.
Sabía que estaba bastante complicado justificar el como iban a terminar juntos, Vegas con un enorme síndrome de Lima y dependencia emocional al 10000% y Pete con síndrome de Estocolmo, tal vez lo que me choca es como Pete paso de estar hasta ahora medio planteándose sus sentimientos a decir: matanga dijo la changa, me voy con Vegas, lo amo (obvio no en esas palabras je je)
Por otro lado teníamos el conflicto familiar entre la primera y la segunda familia... no tenía idea de como iban a lidiar con eso, de hecho no se me ocurre algo pero puedo decir que lo sentí tan dramático como una novela mexicana.
Y luego podremos decir que las últimas páginas van en dramas de "las esposas de la mafia" que uffff amigos que alguien golpee a Porsche, Porchay y a Pete por esos dramas y celos taaaaan exagerados, ok, fue chistoso la primera vez.... después de 2 libros ya es suficiente y más para el final ver a los tres al tiempo en las mismas.
Para el final de verdad estaba agotada.
Sea como sea termine esta historia, definitivamente no es lo mejor que he leído, tenía demasiadas expectativas en los personajes y en la trama, no entraría en mis recomendaciones de lecturas pero tampoco diré que es lo peor.
Solo, fin, ya, adiós a esta historia
PEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO aún le tengo fe a la serie, para este momento hace menos de 5 días se emitió el capítulo 4 y...
En realidad no tengo como explicar que lo hace tan diferente porque en sí la historia va por el mismo camino, solo cambiaron pequeños detalles y así mismo tengo fe de que esos pequeños detalles sea lo que mejore la historia, porque potencial hay, falta un buen desarrollo.

Y luego podremos decir que las últimas páginas van en dramas de "las esposas de la mafia" que uffff amigos que alguien golpee a Porsche, Porchay y a Pete por esos dramas y celos taaaaan exagerados, ok, fue chistoso la primera vez.... después de 2 libros ya es suficiente y más para el final ver a los tres al tiempo en las mismas.
Para el final de verdad estaba agotada.
Sea como sea termine esta historia, definitivamente no es lo mejor que he leído, tenía demasiadas expectativas en los personajes y en la trama, no entraría en mis recomendaciones de lecturas pero tampoco diré que es lo peor.

En realidad no tengo como explicar que lo hace tan diferente porque en sí la historia va por el mismo camino, solo cambiaron pequeños detalles y así mismo tengo fe de que esos pequeños detalles sea lo que mejore la historia, porque potencial hay, falta un buen desarrollo.

Leí el libro 4? Puede ser, es que era todo un Pdf y no supe, saben si habrá más? Espero que si, ese final.
A mi me encanto, enamorada quede de Kinn (🚩🚩 for me), nunca olviden que este tipo de cosas están bien en fantasía, más no en la vida real y si un tipo te trata aunque sea algo parecido, CORRE!!
En este libro, tenemos un Kinn dulce y enamorado, a mi me encanta, me fascina, me enamora; una cosa bella, hay problemas, bastantes, pero relacionados con la familia y recuerdos de Porsche, repito, si estás buscando una historia donde tenga que ver la mafia y haya acción, lee otra cosa; porque esto es más como un drama, se los prometo.
Sigo inlove con Khun, siempre y por siempre.

Okay, this might be a spicy take. But I do not like VegasPete. I like it even less here. In the show, I did not like it, but I could at least somewhat understand it with how they bonded over their mutual similar childhoods. In the show they had conversations and moments which you could understand how these two troubled and broken people might be drawn together. But that still does not excuse any of the treatment that Vegas had given Pete and I feel like people forget that the basis of their "relationship" is torture and physical and mental abuse.
In the book it is worse. The irony of Kinn and Porsche being on the cover yet they only have 2 chapters. Even if the second one did have one of the most hilarious scenes in it .
In the book, Pete is repeatedly raped, mentally and physically abused and kept chained in a small room. He asks for help repeatedly and begs to be let go. He asks for help at one point and his potential saviours just want to gang rape him. Despite all that, he never loses hope and always remains positive. He loses sight of his goal a few times, .
In the show, the clear turning point was when Vegas had beat Pete with a belt and came back to find him with a bad fever and Vegas is convinced he's killed him and looks after him. In the book, my only estimate of when the turning point is when Other than that, his turn, treating Pete a lot better and going out of his way to treat him nicely and make him more comfortable, comes out of nowhere.
The only real saving grace is that in the last chapter, .
To be honest, of the four this is probably my least favourite purely because I do not care about these two. I do not like this coupling. I like the characters apart but not together. I'm here for Kinn and Porsche and their chaoticness.

خب از کجا شروع کنمممم.
کین پورش سریال بسیار معروفیه در ژانر خودش و چون اولین سریالی بود که به عنوان یک سریال بی ال مستقل دیدمش و تایلندی بود اصلا باهاش کنار نیومدم. شبیه گی کلاب بود🙂.
ولیییی الان که سریال های بیشتری دیدم میخواستم بهش شانس دوباره بدم و ناولش رو خوندم.
اول از همه قلم نویسنده عجیب بود! به شدت! توصیف هیچ نقشی بین کلمات داستان نداشت. و خب کم کم عادت کردم به این سبک نوشتن.
اون تفاوت های عجیب غریب واقعا نبود. کلیت داستان که یکی بود و یه سری جزئیات متفاوت بود که اونقدر به چشم نمیومد.
این شخصیت های داستان بودن که من رو همراه خودشون میکشیدن.
اگر به عنوان یک داستان ماورایی و تخیلی بهش نگاه کنی اوکیه😭😂.
چون بعضی جاها میگم نه دیگه این ممکن نیست. و خب بازم به خودم یادآوری میکردم که تایلند همه چیز ممکنه. همه چیز و شماهم اگر خوندید(یا سریالی دیدید) این رو به خودتون بگید صد درصد جوابه.
توضیحهایی که از کاپلا(و شخصیتها) میذارم ممکنه اسپویل داشته باشه.
کین و پورش: پورش داستان واقعا خوب بود😭😂. این بچه واقعا شبیه یه گنگستر وحشی و یاغیه. از یه جایی به بعد دیگه همه ازش حساب میبردن. و کین یه جنتلمن عوضی بود و بنا به شرایط میزان جنتلمن و عوضی بودن عوض میشد.
کیم و پورشه: صادقانه من بخاطر این دو نفر ناول رو خوندم، کیم و پورشه سریال رو بریزید دور چون هیچ نشونی ازشون اینجا نیست این دوتا شبیه دوتا گوله اکلیلن. گوگولی و ملوس با اشاره های کم که خب راضیم.(این دوتا توی هر دنیایی بیشتر از بقیه به دلم میشنن کلا باهاشون حال میکنم.)
وگاس و پیت: وگاس و پیت سریال مورد علاقم نبودن. ولی ولی ولی وگاس و پیت این رمان›››. اینجا چپتر های بیشتری برای اینکه خودشون(ابعاد شخصیت، روابط و شرایطشون) رو نشون بدن داشتن. و درسته وگاس اول داستان یه عوضی واقعی بود و میخواستم هیزمش کنم ولی اواخر داستان›››››› قلبم برای تو پسرم. و پیت انقدر خوب بود که میخواستم بگم اون عوضی لایقت نیست بیا خودم یکی رو برات پیدا کنم. و دنیز›››

Sinceramente no sé que sentir, porque ajá, tiene pues su final feliz y se aman y comparten sus vidas, peeeeeeero pues todo empezó muy muy turbio, y la verdad no sé si pueda creer que es amor, o dependencia desarrollada del trauma, o síndrome de Estocolmo o algo así.
Si está entretenido, y en algunas partes divertido, pero la verdad yo sigo creyendo que es algo demasiado tóxico.
Si dejaramos de lado el tema del abuso sexual, físico, mental, y la codependencia que se desarrolla a raíz del secuestro, pueeeessss creo que es la típica historia donde el chico rudo y malo cambia para bien pero solo con su ser amado, así que, ajá :///
Si está entretenido, y en algunas partes divertido, pero la verdad yo sigo creyendo que es algo demasiado tóxico.

Porsche entre más avanza la historia más molesto es, tal vez se debe a qué el personaje no tiene un crecimiento y sigue siendo igual toda la historia la mayoría de los problemas se deben a su inseguridad y falta de comunicación,
Incluso che siendo el hermano menor es menos exagerado y dramático ( y eso que le aplicó un súper drama a Kim por el nombre de su auto y por qué soño que lo engañaban) 😞
Por otra parte Pete y Vegas son la pareja más complicada pero sin duda la que mayor crecimiento tienen, Vegas a cambiado demaciado de lo que vimos en el primer libro a lo que es al final de la historia.

Ufff honestamente vi la serie y quería saber más sobre el VegasPete y el KimChay ya que nos dan muy poco de ellos en la serie pero preferiría no haber leído ninguno de los libros. Esta todo mal y han cambiado muchas cosas en la serie PARA MEJOR, pocas veces digo que una serie o película es mejor que el libro pero en este caso merece mucho mas la pena. Eso sí, Khun tanto en el libro como en la serie es el mejor personaje y Pete con todo lo malo que le pasa creo que es uno de los mejores personajes. Me quedaré con los buenos momentos de la serie e intentaré olvidar todos estos libros.

Vegas is a bad person but why was I feeling bad for him at the end? 😭
Not much really happened in this book event wise. That is to be expected when the person who has the most POVs is chained up in a single room without the ability to leave until the last few chapters. I don’t really mind uneventful plotless books if it’s interesting enough to keep me reading. And I love this series and the characters so 😂
Seeing Vegas try to turn all sweet and caring was nice for a change. The last chapter made me kinda sad.
I can’t wait for the next book 😩

Dios amé tanto este libro, me encantó, la trama, el suspenso, todo, aparte de que me sacaba cada risa, eso sí, hubieron cositas que sí no me gustaron pero bueno, fuera de eso es muy bueno. y ahora ya sé quienes conforman el club de mis protegidos JAJAJAJA, me encantó todo, aunque si hubieron cosas de aquí del libro que me hubiese gustado ver en la serie pero aún así son detalles mínimos.

3.5. Okay, I'll admit that I never thought this was going to get me onside for the whole Pete and Vegas thing but... I got much closer than I ever would've expected. Still not there, but not as far off as we started. I also looooved the over the topness of Pete's funeral and Khun's grieving for him. It was a delight to see how much everybody loves him!

I really enjoyed the story. I've also enjoyed how the television writers adapted the story so even though I've read this, I'm not entirely sure how the show will end.

I wish there was more of the story from Vegas point of view. I wouldn’t condone what he has done in real life but that is way fiction exists. I loved their conflicting characters and can’t wait to see where the story goes in the future.

Not a fan of Vegas x Pete. 1 star for that whole part of the story. But I adore the Kinn x Porsche scenes here. Porsches fear of ghosts always cracks me up and I love how protective Kinn is of Porsche.
