Serenade #1

Under My Thumb

Rate this book
This is the first novel in the Serenade Trilogy. It is a CLIFFHANGER. If you do not like a novel in a series, this book is not right for you. It also contains foul language, explicit sex scenes, and is only suitable for 18+.

Warning: IT IS A CLIFFHANGER!!

Prudence sets out with her band to Los Angeles to make it big. Leaving behind London is difficult for her, but not because she fears she’ll be homesick. She’s never coming back. And her brother has no idea.

After she arrives, she performs one of her first shows. But little does she know, an admirer sits in the audience. She hypnotizes him and draws him in, making him immediately smitten. The obsession starts.

Cash is determined to be alone with this girl. After extreme lengths to share a quiet whisper, they agree on a spring fling. After the horrible break up Prudence had with her boyfriend, she doesn’t want to be hurt again. Cash’s reasons are still a mystery.

They spend the summer together, but their romance takes different avenues that Cash didn’t predict. He has a very strict set of rules with his women and he never breaks them…until Prudence.

And Prudence didn’t think she could trust someone as much as she trusts Cash. There isn’t just a strong physical relationship between them. For the first time, she’s not afraid of another lie being fed to her, another sleepless night, or wondering where he’s been. It’s the only stability she’s ever had.

After making her way into his heart, Cash struggles with his feelings. He’s been hurt before but can he risk being hurt again? His obsession for his musician grows stronger every day. The idea of her being with anyone but him is soul-crushing. And he doesn’t understand what’s happening to him. Has he fallen in love? Is that possible?

A gripping romance that will make your heart flutter, Under My Thumb is a classy tale of love coming from unlikely places.

Unable to sit still or focus on a single task, I learned at a young age that I was meant to do something that put my entire mind to use. I was always a mimic and did impressions of people in odd places. And that's how my stories began.

But being a great storyteller doesn't mean much when you don't have any listeners. I've been very fortunate to have a fan base that supports my work and encourages me to release sequels. Without all of you, I'd have no purpose. Literally.

My personal life isn't too interesting. My husband is an alpha male that inspires a lot of my novels. He can be pushy and overwhelming at times, but I still love him to the end of my days, especially when I put him in his place. =)

Writing has been a lifelong dream. When I was in college, I was always in awe of the fabulous stories I read. I always said, "I wish I could write something like that someday." But I never thought I would actually do it. Boy, was I wrong.

Thank you so much for all the support.

3.5 - 3.75 DONT LET HER GO STARS!!!

Under My Thumb is a fast paced romance with two inherently damaged characters that are surprisingly up front with their needs and wants. The story is told in dual POV's which was a nice change in understanding inner thoughts and turmoil! This is my first time reading Abby Reynolds and I can say that I enjoyed her style of writing as well as her story...well, except that damn cliffhanger! She just made me an automatic 1-click for book 2!

Pru has come to the US with her band in hopes to truly "live" a bit, while a very reserved and moody Cash is barely living in his own existance. One man and one woman, both heartbroken from past relationships, find an instant connection and true match of wills.

I will admit that I was immediately thinking a Christian Grey kinda scenario...but that is not at all what i got!

What better than an immediate relationship of two people that agree to a summer "fling" that gives scorching releases with no strings or feelings? Well, add a considerate partner, an equal lover who never lies and never cheats, and well HOT DAMN...Match made in heaven!

Well, it would be perfect if that damn HEART didnt get in the way!

I will say that I liked this read. I liked Prudence alot, she was a strong character and honestly I liked that she wasn't needy or annoying! However, I sit on the fence a bit with Cash...he talked a good game, very dominant thoughts, yet in the bedroom he was a patient and attentive lover! Stick to the script buddy! LOL!

So, as already stated I will have to wait to see how this plays out! In typical angsty fashion, Pru and Cash are in love, the perfect match for one another, but in all that "openness" and "no lies" they seem to have forgot to communicate their true feelings and the summer is over...

Pru is gone! Only time will tell if Cash will get her back "under his thumb" :)

4.5+ out of 5 Sweet Stars!!

" I stared at her blatantly, seeing the redness burn her cheeks. I had this girl. And i wasn't going to let go."

Fist of all, i would like to say how much glad i am that this book has two POV, it really helped me understand the characters and bond with them more!

In general, the book is really fast pacing. I finished it real quick.

"We have to be exclusive," he said. " That's my biggest term."
"Why?"
"I want to be the only one inside you."

For me, the plot was one of the best parts of the book. It was interesting and not at all confusing and it rolled perfectly.
Also, i cannot wait for the second book because, this one's ending left me at the edge of my seat.

What i also loved was the characters.
Prudence is a selfless, talented and down to earth girl who is very passionate about music.
Cash is the sexy, gorgeous but also affectionate and really honest guy. The only thing that wasn't feeling so right was the fact that he complimented Pru a looot, especially at the begining, but, i guess he couldn't stop himself... I mean, he was really into her!

"And i wanted more of her, all of her."

They are not perfect on their own. Because, they have flaws like everyone out there. But they are PERFECT for each other.

"With you, i feel safe."

They understand and trust each other completely witch made the book seem even more true and enjoyable...
I loved them together... They are the cutest thing!!

All of the characters were great but, except for the lead characters, i also loved Cash's brother Denver and his wife, Vivian.
You will adore them. He is so sweet and in love with her! and Vivian loves Greek salad... yay!

"What did you order?" -Vivian
"I had the fried tofu." -Cash
"I always get the Greek salad. My favorite!" -Vivian

I love Greek salad too!! (Well, maybe because i'm from Greece and all... :D )

Do give this book a chance, i believe you will enjoy it very much and you'll love Cash ( especially when he is jealous!)

"I want you to feel beautiful. Because you are."

Thank you Ms Reynolds and carry on the good gob!

There’s an abundance of angst attached hereto. It might be a bit of an overload. However, it was a pretty easy read with characters that caught my attention from the beginning and kept me in their spin. Be forewarned though that there is a major cliffhanger that will most likely leave you screaming. You’ll have to await the arrival of the next book to find out where the road leads for Prudence and Cash.

Prudence is a musician who travels with her band from England to the US in hopes of signing a record contract. She leaves behind a broken relationship and she’s definitely not interested in starting a new one.

Cash Matthews makes his living as an executive producer in the world of television. His path crosses Pru’s when he hears the band play. He sees, he wants, and he pursues. Of course, Cash has relationship woes as well – and he’s definitely not up for anything serious developing either.

Ah – but fate steps forward and plays havoc with their so-called plans. What starts out as two broken souls agreeing to a casual fling over the summer soon becomes much more.

I was drawn to the strong individual portrayed by Pru. I liked that she was a non-whiner who didn’t require constant stroking. Cash on the other hand was a bit of a contradiction. What is promoted as his dominant male tendencies seems to lose a bit of its original steam and fizzles a bit. Even so, both characters were interesting and the chemistry between them sparked enough interest to keep me wishin’ and hopin’ that they would wake up and smell the roses – before it was too late.

Once again, communication is the key to the success of this relationship and these two seem to have forgotten this important fact. And then time just runs out . . .

Told from both main characters’ points of view and most times my favorite form of storytelling, I enjoyed venturing inside each one’s mind to gain additional depth in both their personalities and thoughts. The author has taken an often told trope and given it her own refreshing and unique take. I enjoyed this book and will be looking forward to continuing on with Prudence and Cash’s story in the next installment.

ARC received in return for an honest review.

What a way to end a novel! If you don’t like a cliff-hanger then this is not for you as it ends on a huge one.

This is the story of Prudence and Cash, a couple who have both been hurt in the past and do not wish to ever have a relationship again. Prudence is an intelligent young musician who has travelled to LA for three months with her band to try and get signed with a record company. Cash is an executive producer in television who happens to see them play their first gig. He wants her. He goes after her. He gets her, but only temporarily. They agree on a physical relationship only as neither wants to get involved with someone again. However both struggle to remove emotions the more time they spend together.

This was a slow starter for me. I wasn’t taken with Cash to begin with and quite disliked him. However as the novel progressed and more of his past was revealed I came round and eventually was well and truly on his side, cheering for him. He also sounds hot which helps! Prudence, I immediately sympathised with. She has had a recent break up that has left her emotionally bruised and lacking confidence. Again, as more of her character was revealed I liked her more and more. She and Cash certainly had chemistry. I was so desperate for them both to speak to each other and admit they had feelings but neither would speak up. Instead they just had more sex!

The overall story took time to get started, but once it did, I found myself stuck. I didn’t want to finish as I suspected it would be ending on a cliff-hanger but I also really wanted to see how things would play out. Grrrrr. Credit to the author, she has brought some originality to a story that has been told often recently.

Little teeny tiny thing… You need to overlook the past participles in places. Shined/shone. Lied/lay.

Under my thumb is a story about two people jaded by their past.

Cash likes to compartmentalize his life, making sure his personal life will not seep into his professional life, hence, the loveless, non-relationship status.

Prudence is a talented musician who has been burned by love and thought a serious relationship is not for her. She decided to be with Cash without fear of where it will end by agreeing to see each other casually until she goes back to London where she resides.

There's instant attraction between them and an explosive sexual chemistry, but they were wrong to think that an exclusive yet casual relationship will be safe.. because naturally, feelings surfaced. But their feelings didn't grow instantly.. they unknowingly jumped through hurdles, break down their walls and against their will, developed strong feelings for each other.

There are things beyond our control. No matter how much you stop yourself from loving someone, it will sneak up on you. No matter how much you convince yourself that your choices make sense, it only takes the right person to come into your life and change your views. Will Cash and Prudence give in to their feelings? Are they willing to take a leap to find happiness with each other?

I'm eagerly awaiting for more from this couple! And I think it's worth mentioning that the author created a wonderful side characters - I love Jeremy ( Prudence' brother) and the family of Cash is adorable.

Under my Thumb (Serenade Series Bk1) by Abby Reynolds
Prudence is a musician and musical genius. She has travelled with her band from Britain to the States seeking a record contract. She's leaving behind a broken home and a ruined relationship. Cash Matthews is a TV executive producer. He's tired of women wanting to use him for his connections, but he's not looking for a serious relationship. Once Cash sees Pru he is obsessed with her. They agree to a casual sexual relationship that would end at the end of the summer. They seem to be in agreement but are they really? This story ends on a cliff hanger. Looking forward to Book 2

Under My Thumb is a very different type of romance story that starts off with two stranger who are attracted to one another and over time fall for one another. Prudence and Cash were both one in the same when it came to relationships and love.

Prudence is from London, but she went to LA with her band-mates with ulterior motives of her own. She is broken because of the love she gave her boyfriend. She now wants to enjoy life being single while having fling with a guy every now and then. Prudence was an absolute dream. She was talented, smart, hardworking, likable and so many other traits.

Cash is hot man that has an awesome job. He is wrecked by love due to the games and the way his ex-wife used him. He now lives his life in sexual arrangements with different women. He wants no commitment, no ties and no drama. He tries hard to stay away from love, but unexpectedly love found him. Cash is smart, hardworking man that has the utmost respect and manners. His past has definitely shaped his view on love and it sucks, but I'm glad he learns that you can't run from love.

The romance was beautiful. The fact they fell for one another was awesome, but I hated that they each thought the other didn't love them. It was insane. That ending tore me to pieces. I don't normally like cliffhangers, but I have to admit -- this cliffhanger has me on the edge wanting to read the next book immediately!

I can’t believe this ended on such an intense cliffhanger. I want the next book like NOW!

This is my first read by this author and I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed Cash and Prudence’s story, despite wanting to bang their heads together on multiple occasions so they could see what was right in front of them. I loved how wonderful they were for one another. I found it frustrating that each couldn’t see the same feelings they were developing mirrored in each other’s eyes and I’m really hoping the next book will give me my HEA.

For the rest of the series, besides my HEA, I am really hoping to see more of Jeremy. I wanted to get to know his character and he didn’t get enough of a role in this book. Cash’s family was also great and I’m looking forward to reading more about them.

I definitely enjoyed this story. The characters were all multi-dimensional, interesting, and relatable. Abby did a wonderful job conveying emotion and passion shared by the two lead characters. Although the book could use another trip through the editing process it was pretty well written. Can't wait for book two! I really hope Cash gets to hit Gavin at some point because that guy is a major DB.

I have to agreed with other people and say that too much drama takes the story to a different place and yes, I am a bit tired of over the board drama.
When the drama is combined with people's inability of being a little bit mature than I am rolling my eyes.
I would read the second story due to the cliffhanger but yes, I want to go back to books that have a real plot and characters/ character development and depth to the story.

3.5 stars. This was a pretty good freebie I happened to see. It's kinda like 50 Shades without the kink. There are plenty of emotions, steaminess, good characters, and definitely a cliffhanger ending...should've listened to the description. I would definitely like to read the rest of this series and see what happens. A good read and a great find for a freebie! Enjoy!

Under My Thumb is the debut novel of Abby Reynolds and book one in the Serenade series. It immediately grabbed my attention and the bit of mystery and anxiety that accompanied our main characters kept my attention until the end.

Summary:
Prudence Clearwater is a true musician, feeling the music in her heart and soul. It's what makes her who she is, and what keeps her grounded and thriving through all the years, good, bad, and heartbreaking. Now, she's ready to leave her hometown of London and tour Las Angeles, California with her band-mates. What her band doesn't know is that she won't be coming back to London at the end of the summer, record deal or not. London is wonderful, but holds too many bad memories and family connections she'd rather forget. The only person Pru's heartbroken about leaving is her older brother, Jeremy. He's been her rock, her hero, and the only person she recieved unconditional love and support from. But Pru knows she has to make this choice for herself and her happiness. She needs to get away from the life she's known and the relationships that have broken her, and she doesn't plan on seeking any others out. Of course, she didn't plan on Cash Williams lighting up her life and turning it upside down. Cash was born and raised in L.A. And now he lives and works there as an executive producer. From the outside looking in, he has it all, but no body gets to see the heartbreak and demons he carries deep down inside. Not even his loving family. When Cash sees Pru, he feels a magnetic pull and explosive chemistry the like he's never felt before. Getting this woman into bed becomes his obsession. But Prudence isn't like the others he's had. She's different, special, and not superficial in any way. Luckily, they both feel the same way about serious relationships and agree to an arrangement of convenience. Everyone wins, no one gets hurt. Unfortunately, both Cash and Pru's pasts come back to haunt them, and threaten to abbreviate their non-relationship before they can fully understand what they each have. Pru hasn't had a good experience with men in her past, bother her own father and her romantic interests. Cash was badly burned by the one person he thought he was closest to, and humiliated in front of everyone he holds dear. Together, they will find true happiness and an understanding that heals the wounds time did not, but is it enough and will it be in time? Cash and Prudence will have a lot to think about and come to terms with, both about each other and themselves, in order to find the bliss they both secretly desire.

I loved Cash and Pru together. Cash's possessiveness and protective instincts were sweet. His opening was a bit creepy stalker, but also sweet. Lol. Pru was a mess of contradictions. I loved her sweet, empathetic nature. I hated how she took to heart what her father said and did and what her ex said and did to her. Still, following her journey with Cash was entertaining and had me wishing for more by the end. I'm not fond of Gavin. I wish his feelings would have passed a bit more quickly, as the love triangle trope is a bit overwritten, but mostly he was a bit of a jerk. The story itself could use a bit of polishing as I found several editing errors and the chapters at the end are mis-numbered, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the story. I've read several books by this author under a different pen-name, and her books get better and better the more I read. Under My Thumb was no exception, and actually my favorite of all I've read so far. I'm greatly looking forward to the conclusion to Cash and Pru's story, and hopefully getting stories about the other band members, as well as Jeremy and McKenzie. <3

Picture this scenario: Two people, carrying baggage and pain from their pasts, both lonely, both needing to feel the validation of life, the joy, the special ‘oneness’ only love can give. Complicate that when neither are quite capable of laying it all on the line and confessing their true feelings, because it wasn’t part of the ‘deal,’ until it may be too late. Did I mention the lies by omission or the lies that at first seemed so right for self-preservation? Sounds like most of the slightly erotic contemporary romances out there today, right? Wrong. Definitely wrong. Under My Thumb by Abby Reynolds turns the scenario into a journey to the heart on a slightly different path with slightly different, but very refreshing characters that is too raw to be told with only one book.

Prudence, is a beautiful, educated and intelligent young British band member trying to make a name for itself on tour in the United States. She realizes this is their last chance and gives it her all. She expects nothing from people, except honesty, that usually saves her from the pain of disappointment, because if she accepts someone as they are, wouldn’t they reciprocate? Life hasn’t always been good to Prudence, but she has her friends and her dreams.

Cash has been burned, badly. A wealthy, successful power player in the entertainment industry, it isn’t his looks, charm or heart that most women want, it’s the ticket he can provide them to fame and fortune. He is full of love for his close-knit family, but finding love for himself is not on the agenda. Too risky. He is kind, giving and caring under that pile of money.
Trying to play by their own rules and to enjoy the pleasures of temporary companionship and the physical pleasures they can give each other, these two keep try to hold their hearts under lock and key, but they fit too well together, they complete each other, they are combustible together, except for some little white lies…

Abby Reynolds had me from the moment Prudence and Cash met. She tells an angst-filled story without becoming too dark as she creates a world that is completely plausible and populates it with characters that bring her world to life! Did she intentionally give her characters names that tell something about themselves? If so, brilliant, they fit these characters to a tee, if not, maybe her writer’s muse inspired her. Steamy hot without being gratuitous, shared points of view that allow the reader into the hearts and minds of these characters all make for magnetic reading where the journey is well worth making. Perfectly paced, sometimes emotionally chaotic, another great escape into a world filled with the hidden gems of books!

I received this copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.

4.5 lovely stars!

This story is about Prudence and Cash. Prudence is a British girl, a very accomplished musician, but she has a lot of baggage, after a life of being neglected from her parents and a terrible relationship. The only good thing she has is her brother Jeremy and her music. Cash in the other hand is a very important executive producer who is not interested in a serious relationship, the reason?, well let’s just say he has a LOT of baggage too, so he doesn't do relationships or one night stands, he prefers to have temporary arrangements with his “Lady friends”.

Prudence travels to L.A. with her band to see if they can have a shot in the music industry. The first night Pru’s band plays at a bar and is immediately spot by Cash, who becomes obsessed with Pru’s charisma, voice and beauty. He pursues her and they agree to have a summer fling, no strings attached. For both it’s simple that way, considering their baggage.

Being honest, the firsts chapters were kind of slow for me and Cash seemed a little bit of an asshole in the beginning, I wasn’t very sure if I was going to like him:
“We have to be exclusive,” he said. “That’s my biggest term.”
“Why?”
“I want to be the only one inside you.”
I wasn’t planning on hooking up with anyone else, but I was curious.
“I want you all to myself,” he said firmly. “I don’t share, and I certainly don’t double dip.”
“That’s romantic,” I said sarcastically.

At some point things started to move faster and I was truly enthralled with the story. I loved how their relationship developed, not immediately, although yes the physical interaction was not delayed, and it was hot and intense, but they were very honest with each other and they were more like friends with benefits in the beginning but then they started to make subtle changes, I simply loved it!

“I could tell she was nervous. I squeezed a little harder. “When I’m inside you, you make a quiet sigh. It sounds musical, beautiful. I love it when I hear it.” I stared into her eyes. “I love the shape of your hips.” I moved my hands down her waist. “It excites me. I love the way your neck feels in my hand.” I moved to her throat then touched her. “When I move inside you, you clench around me like you don’t me to leave. I love being with you because the way you make me feel. Your body is perfect and unflawed. Everyone about you arouses me. And your voice. I love it when you scream.”
Her eyes lit up in desire as she listened to me. “Cash, I love being with you because of the way you make me feel. I’ve never felt more beautiful and sexy than when I’m with you.”

The only two things I didn’t like were that the book needs some editing and that it ends with a freaking cliffhanger that it’s making me anxious to wait until the second part is out to read what happen next!. Other than that, this was a great reading.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The storyline is a little different than most music romance books that I have read. I did not know that it was part of a series, because sometime I can be oblivious, but I still enjoyed it anyway.

So we meet Prudence when she is leaving London for her band to tour around California for the summer. Only she has already decided to move there permanently. She has had a little bit of a rough time in London recently and she believes that a new start where no one knows her is just what she needs. She has just finished her first show and that is when she meets him...

Cash. He is a television producer with a jaded outlook due to being burned from a previous relationship. All he has now are arrangements and this is what he approaches Prudence with. An arrangement to have a relationship without strings, but no lies.

Everything is going great. They love to be around one another the sex is off the charts and they talk about anything and everything. Then things change and neither one knows how to tell the other and that is when the poop hits the fan and how we are left. Cash is distraught because Prudence left him with only a letter.

What will happen next? Will Cash find Prudence? Will they confess their feelings to each other? I guess we wait for the second book in the Serenade Series.

Okay...Now I will give you my reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. I liked the character really well, but their lack of communication for two honest people was just a tad unbelievable considering that they both usually said what was on their mind. You know honestly and all that stuff. I felt that Prudence and the rest of her band mates just weren't English enough. Their dialogue just didn't feel like people from London, but that isn't really that big of a deal. My other big con was the build up to both Cash and Prudences 'past'. It just wasn't that bad for me to validate both of them being so against relationships and love. But that is just me. That is really all of the cons for me.

The pros. The chemistry between Cash and Prudence is very believable and you instantly connect with the both of them and their blossoming relationship. I like that this focused on their story versus a bunch of nonsense that takes away from the storyline. Even though Gavin was a huge tool I like that he felt so strongly for Prudence. I love the bond that Jeremy and Prudence have. You can tell that they were each others worlds, until Cash. I love Cash's mom and family. They were so loving and you just know that they will give Prudence the sense of family that she so desperately needs. I love dual POV. It is always a big plus when you get to read from the male POV and female POV all in the same book and Cash's POV does not disappoint.

Overall this book is pretty good.

SPOILER ALERT! READ THIS REVIEW ONLY AFTER READING THE ACTUAL BOOK! Also, those are only my opinions and I do not claim to be all-knowing or right in my statements but my beliefs are my beliefs and I refuse to bury them under the facade of politeness.
For some reason I began reading this book with low expectations and the beginning didn't do much to change that. The context of Cash's meeting with Pru is plausible and so is his first attempt to get in contact with her and I appreciate that. Unfortunately, their second encounter stops making that much sense. Who thinks it's appropriate to change another person's - a stranger's, nonetheless - seat in a theatre (at which she came with her friends) without their knowledge? And what girl in her right mind wouldn't run for the hills at that? As far as the plot goes, those are my only objections. I was completely mesmerised by the love story between the two main characters and what I would really like to give the author praise for is the authenticity of the emotions portrayed in this book. Every feeling seems real, tangible and the main characters' traumas and suffering is palpable. I can't speak for anyone but this novel really had me rooting for Cash's and Pru's summer romance to work out.
As for the characters, I do admit that, at first, Cash seemed a Grade A jackass and a pervert, really and I know the pervert part was the author's intention but I deeply disapprove of that. Once again, that's the end of my complaints regarding the characters. Both, Cash and Pru, are constructed to be strong people who dealt with heartache but managed to live on, broken as they might be. They are designed to fit each other and that's another plus. I could honestly relate to those characters and I'd like to congratulate the writer for that. Also, Cash's family, Pru's brother and Pru's friends show appreciable morals and create the feel of a genuinely good bunch of folks. Bonus points for that!
Now turning to the writing style, I must say that I wasn't impressed by it. At least in the beginning it's mediocre. I won't adress the writing style in the rest of the book because I was sincerely too captivated by the plot to pay attention to it. I am not proud of that fact but it is definitely a compliment for the writer.
As the finale of my rant I'll say it's a good book, a decent read and a quite pleasurable way to spend a few hours, the only downside being the overwhelming suspense caused by the abrupt ending. Eagerly awaiting the next novel in the series.

Excellent start to what promises to be a good series. Right off you are transported with a band from England that is going to the US to try their luck their with their music. One band member in particular is saying her goodbye's to her brother Prudence who mega talented that she is more than ready for this change. Next you are introduced to Cash who by all accounts is successful in that he is a mover and shaker in Hollywood. Soon they meet thanks to a friend's attempt at not taking no for a answer for a hook up on a date that just so happens to be where Pru's band is playing. Mesmerized he is that he has to meet her, she touches him like he hasn't been touched in a long time especially since he has sworn off happy ever after for himself after a bad marriage ended. She too has not got any intentions of getting involved that way after a terrible relationship leaving her tattered also. One of the band members also has his sights on her which can complicate things when not felt the same by other person. Out they go to get to know each other and in no time they both want one thing to be with each other no strings attached but exclusive to each other. Wow be careful what you bargain for though usually the heart and soul are not as cold as bargains or understandings made in pain. Two tattered souls that have come together usually will end up mending each other. This is the kind of novel that grips you because you have to know will the tables turn ,will they find their way or will they truly let go when it is time to do so. There is also a very high heat factor that is scorching when these two are together that supplies to cool down will be needed. Honesty always the best policy and as you experience this building relationship with them you really want them to not let go of each other and see what is happening to them yelling hey wake up and smell the coffee that they belong together but not they manner they have initially set it up to be. After they move in together for some of her time in US and family members are introduced it is even more of intensity building up between the two. But sometimes pride will cut the nose off the face despite the devastating results. Very good flow of storyline that carried me away quickly to the tune of when I reached the end I said out loud all ready? But shame of her she has now got her hooks in me hanging me up till I see what is next. But it is all good. Received a arc for a honest review.

**3.5 thumb up stars**
This story is not the epitome of a feel good story, but it has great scenes of feel good moments, and I didn't want to put it down. It was an easy and flowing read.
Prudence is the main character that is a great musician and originally from London who sets off with her band for the summer to L.A.. Prudence aka Pru meets Cash at one of her first shows in L.A., Cash is mesmerized by her beautiful voice and her entire facade. Cash goes to great lengths to win her over and get her on a date.
The two of them agree to have a summer only arrangement fulfilling each other's need to not be "alone"...and the two of them discover they actually have a lot in common. The two of them have both been used, lied to, and been cheated by ex's.
The story is told in each of their POV's, and my one complaint would be, they are both idiots for not admitting their growing love they attain throughout the summer for each other more verbal because if they did, their relationship would have been more meaningful and more in depth. But I guess it wouldn't then lead up to a thrilling cliffhanger!
These two are PERFECT for each other...it hurts to read each of their POV of passion and love for each other without the gratification of the other's reactions or reciprocated feelings!
Prudence decides to leave her new love and her band before she has to deal with her actual emotions for Cash. Cash comes to her last show in L.A. to find her gone and her band mates do not know where she has gone either. We, as the readers are endlessly helpless to know what really becomes of this beautiful love story.
Prudence has disappeared.
Prudence is hopelessly in love with Cash.
Cash is lost and in love with Prudence.
Cash must find her!
Prudence must come to her senses!
They MUST be together!
Prudence MUST become a huge successful musician!
Cash and Prudence must both profess their love!
I am left wanting to know so much more. These two characters painted a beautiful picture of two broken hearted and dis-trusting people into a couple that knew and understood each other on another level and helped them both get past their misconstrued looks on love. They found love again in each other, and now we must wait and hope that these two find each other again and live HEA in the next book in this great new series by Abby Reynolds (new pen name for the great E.L. Todd).

First I have to say, the book had way too many spelling and word errors. It did stop my reading flow which I find difficult. I think maybe authors are too quick to publish books rather than put out something that is of good quality. If you use an editor or beta readers, someone be honest with the author and tell them how many errors they see. These need to be addressed prior to hitting the publish button. I'm hoping that the spelling/word errors in this book are fixed/updated so that further reviews won't show this problem.

Anyway, about the story. It is a major cliffhanger. I hate cliffhangers when I don't have the next book. Drives me crazy. I can't wait to read book 2.

BUT...I really liked the story and the plot, I liked the characters, Band, 2 girls, 2 men, and rich Hollywood director (Cash). Pru is the talent in the band, can play all instruments and has a voice like an angel and is damaged. She is also highly educated and smart (biology degree). Loved how smart Pru was and how talented she was as well. I really liked Cash too. He didn't want anyone to know who he was so that he wasn't used for his connections. He has also suffered in his life as well. I Loved his alpha personality. The premise of their relationship from the start was pretty cool, a short term arrangement with no strings attached when it's over but it is monogamous while they are enjoying each other. But when it's over it's over. No one gets hurt. We walk away happy without having any feelings dragging you down. We all know that never happens but it really worked in this book until it didn't but who would want to read a book that didn't go anywhere. The story moved along and it made me smile alot. Until the END....Cliffhanger!!!

They have a beautiful arrangement and try to stick to the rules. They share more of each other than they thought that they would or could and they hate to be away from each other. They confide in each other because they don't have any expectations of anything long term.

The sex was extremely hot in this book. They both felt like they could just let go with each other and were extremely comfortable using each other for their own sexual needs. Really enjoyed this one.

Read this book in one day and anxiously waiting for book 2.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. I have read two more books of the same author and have another two in WTR list but I think this one is so far my favorite of her.
The story is catching and I was engrossed from the 1st chapter, if didn’t have to go to work I would probably have finished it in one day. I liked both the lead characters, Pru and Cash, and I was eager to see how their agreement will go. Both of them are broken by similar situation in their past and have decided of how their future will be in the love aspect. Sure there are some cliché’s in the storyline (a lot of similar books out there), their way they talk or think or act but I really liked them together, especially Pru because we see a different side of the when she is with Cash. She is funny, loving, caring and a bit more confident even with his family. When she is with her friends or in her own thoughts she is shy and feeling not worthy something I don’t understand since she is very smart, beautiful, talented and accomplished in a way that is intimidating when you think about it. I know very well a man that treated you bad can do this to you but still…
Apart from the story, for me it unavoidable not to compare the writing from the previous books I read from the same author and I think that in this one it has improved a lot. There still are some grammar and spelling mistakes, some missing words but I think that with a bit more editing it can improve. What I am having problem with, and I have it with many indie authors that I read lately, is that because English is not my native language I can’t understand if some parts are expressions or there are writing mistakes cause I have a difficulty understanding them. What I would have like to see in this book and maybe in the rest of the series is more depth in the characters.
What I didn’t like in this book is Gavin’s character. I really didn’t understand why he had to be in the book. His outbursts where over the top and his way of thinking and logic were unrealistic and kind of scary. Maybe if they were a bit better written and toned down a bit maybe I would have felt a little sympathy for him.
I look forward to read the next book to the series cause I was left hanging with they way it ended.

**CAUTION: SPOILERS AHEAD**

Received this e-book as an ARC from the Author.

First, I want to apologize for getting you a pic of the cover, however, I couldn't find one. :-/ As soon as one becomes available I'll post it!

Second, go get this book when it becomes avaibale. It was moody and sexy and HAWT and everything you need in a great romance novel. Loveable characters. Impossible romances made possible.

This is completely two of my favorite romances genres- billionaires and rock stars. We have Cash, the billionaire. And Prudence the rock star. Match made in nerd girl dreams let me tell you! *SWOONS*

It was love at first audio bite really. Cash just happened to be at a show that Pru was playing at and the rest was basically history as they say. Obsession began on both of their parts really and thus begun a whirlwind romance. Romance sugar coated with some jealousy from a not-so-love-triangle.

See Pru is in a bad with Gavin who is head over heels in love with her. He's done everything right and at the same time just done everything wrong. I seriously SERIOUSLY feel bad for the guy. Sorry Gavin. :-/ Better luck next time.... maybe you'll get a book out of it! ;) (*Hint hint*)

We have two strong main characters with lots of baggage that mirror each other. They reflect each other so well. They think they want the same things but alas Cash and Pru don't want what they say they want. What they really find is something that either of them didn't expect AT ALL!

I hope its not too late for these two. I hope for the best.

Unfortuantely, Reynolds gets a few points knocked off for the ending. I HATE these types of endings BUT what is in store for us I believe is going to be worth. IT DAMN WELL BETTER BE! :) Unfortuantely, this is NOT a feel good romance. This is a nail biter, I cannot believe they just did/did not/said that kind of tale. By the end of this novel you will be wanting more. The story was SOLID and honestly, you felt like you were best friends with Cash and Pru. I wished I could have slapped them both at times. BUT that's what good authors and story tellers do- they make words feel real. Loved Under y

Happy Reading,
Mel

What I liked...

I really did like the premise, and that's why I gave the book a chance. I also really liked Pru and Cash as characters. They are both definitely flawed people. I thought Cash's obsession was a little creepy, but the creepy faded into the story as their relationship progressed. I thought the story had a nice pace, and I really got into it. The love scenes were great.

What I didn't like...

I didn't realize that the story would be continuing into another book. With its length, I thought for sure that there would be a definitive ending. I figured other books would focus on the story of the other characters like the band members or Cash's sister, and Pru and Cash would just make occasional appearances. I honestly didn't expect the end to not be the end. I think this book would have been great if it wrapped up the story. Within a couple chapters, I could have had a happily ever after. Instead you're left without an ending. It's not even really a cliffhanger. It just ends without resolution. The resolution was so close, and in total reach...but the author has decided to drag it out. I don't get it. Some stories make great stand alone books...not everything has to be a series. That's what bothered me most.

Also, there were quite a few grammatical errors. Usually this doesn't bother me, but there was an excessive amount. It actually was quite distracting. Before it was released, some more editing should have been done. Most the errors are pretty obvious (i.e. her instead of his...or the other way around).

The final thing that bothered me was the use of NBC, Jay Leno, and The Tonight Show. It seems petty to mention, but it really didn't add anything to the book. Readers don't really need that kind of specific. I mean the book is a fiction contemporary with fictitious characters...why not just say that Cash is an executive producer for a hit television show. As readers, we didn't need the network, the show title, or the name of the television host.

I really did like it overall, but I just wish it were a complete book. It seems that more and more authors are turning everything into a series when it's just not needed.

- 2 Stars.

The book was ok overall, spelling errors in places, but not so much that you could not understand the story. I liked this book, I really did but what made me not rate it any higher was the fact that it came across too similar to Beauty from Pain by Georgia Cates. The difference with this however was that I couldn't connect with the characters. The aura around Cash and Pru felt to clinical, cold and rigid.

Prudence- I didn't really like her. I found her to odd at times. The way she felt about certain situations and her music was not endearing to me. I don't understand how you could love music so much that you're anal about anyone listening to you and not talking to you while you play, which I thought was a stupid reaction btw, then be adamant that you won't get a record deal and secretly think your bandmates are wasting their time. She was selfish in her thinking and then just suddenly quitting the band because of her feelings. I don't see how she really loved music and there were facets of her personality I did not really like. She came across really irrational with her moods. By the end of it I just waned to slap her. Her reasoning was idiotic.

Cash - he was a bit more of a conundrum for me. I didn't like him, yet I didn't hate him. I guess her personality never stuck with me. He was another one whose moods changed so rapidly it was hard to get a read on him or feel a connection with him. I felt like he wanted to be an alpha but Pru in all her infinite annoyance wouldn't let him. Honestly by the end of the book I didn't really care that Prudence left him. I thought he was a bit of a douche for not speaking up before about how he felt.

Gavin, Desi, Mason - didn't get a feel for their characters either so can't really comment on them.

Overall this may have been a book I picked up but after getting into it mag have skimmed through till the end because the characters sort of fell flat. In saying that however I will pick up the sequel only because I hate cliffhangers and have now started this so I will want to know how it ends.
