There are rumors going around town. They say that if you go to the old carnival, you'd see a dashing young man wearing a magician's hat — a man who has the power to make people disappear from the face of the earth. Yoon Ai, a smart girl in her class, struggles to feed herself and her sister everyday. All she wants is to grow up faster so she can escape poverty and the reality of her miserable life. When she meets the rumored magician in the abandoned carnival, her life changes forever.

When I first started reading Annarasumanara I was wondering how the story will play out; there's a supposed good looking guy, admired by everyone in class, but he was drawn somewhat ugly; a bright female student but drowns in her father's debts and a 'real' magician is thrown into the mix. I totally had no idea what to expect.

Some couple of chapters into Annarasumanara I was sold. The handsome-but-ugly-drawn male student was indeed good looking. Instead of the illustrator portraying his beauty, he depicted his character and his stance in life instead. It took a while for me to get use to his handsome features lol!!

That aside, this webtoon makes you ponder; how does one characterize an adult? Is there a particular way of an adult? What kind of adult are you? What is it like to be an adult? Is it age dependent? Anyway so many questions flashes through your mind, well at least it did for me. Apart from the adult thingy, another issue was tackled -magic (dreams, aspirations). What's your magic? When you find it, do you plan on being a magician? Or will the harshness of reality keep you away from it?

This comic is highly recommended to both parents and kids. Of course most parents want to best for their kids, but at the same time they need to stop to check if they aren't pressurizing their kids, hence neglecting their kids' dreams.

I like the last chapter, the author didn't sum up a particular kind of adult instead we see that each characters are trying their best to do what they like, while still facing reality. No ditching reality for magic (dreams, aspirations etc) and vice versa.

بازخوانیش خوب بود. داستان یکم فرم سورئال داره و چقدر با مفهوم آینده شغلی یا به عبارت دیگه آرزوهای شغلی گره خورده. خوبیش اینه که هنوزم دغدغه خیلی هاست و موضوع قدیمی نشده چون هنوزم اینها نگرانی نوجوان ها و دانش آموزا و حتی دانشجویان هست. در کشورهایی که آینده خوب و زندگی مرفه با درس و رفتن به فلان دانشگاه گره خورده.

از طرفی شخصیتی داریم که به همه این باورهای غالبی پشت پا میزنه و زندگی رو انتخاب میکنه که شاید لزوما بالغانه، عاقلانه یا حتی در مسیر رشد هم نباشه اما اصیله؛ رضایت شخصی اون رو به همراه داره و باعث میشه از زندگیش لذت ببره. گرچه از دید دیگران این کارکتر رفتار عجیبی داره و حتی بعضی اونو دیوانه میدونن، جامعه طردش میکنه، پشت سرش حرف میزنن، براش توطئه میکنن و... این وسط دو دیگه هستن که با نشست و برخواست با کارکتر ما، این شخص اصیل، اونا هم متاثر شده و شروع به سوال کردن میکنن: آیا مسیری که انتخاب کردم درسته؟ آیا این راه منو به زندگی خوب میرسونه؟ اصلا میتونم زندگی مرفه ای برای خودم بسازم؟ آیا این راهیه که میخوام توش قدم بردارم؟ و...

در آخر هردو کارکتر به سمت اصالت حرکت میکنند، لزوما مسیر زندگیشون تغییر نمیکنه ولی دیدگاه و سبک زندگیشون چرا. طراحی این کار خیلی چشم گیر نیست ولی فوق العاده استعاره ای هست و نباید ساده از کنارش گذشت؛ هرجا طراحی شکل غیرمتعارف به خودش گرفته پیامی در کار هست که باید بهش توجه بشه.

در کل کار بدی نیست و حتی توی یک روز هم میتونه خونده بشه. برای علاقه مندان به داستان ها مرتبط با فلسفه اگزیستانسیال یا دوران گذار افراد از نوجوانی به جوانی و آینده شغلی و ... حتما خواندنی و جالب خواهد بود.

Review on webtoon "The Sound of Magic: Annarasumanara" by Ilkwon Ha (episode 27) - Well, I have completed reading this whole webtoon. It was unique and very short. If you expect it to be a romance webtoon. then it is not. The main leads seemed to have crushes on each other. But, there were no romantic scenes in this webtoon. I was satisfied with the ending but still it left some of my questions unanswered.

I read this as a webtoon, and I have to tell this here and now, webtoons have such strong themes sometimes that I genuinely wonder what the authors are going through while creating them. This is one of those. Alienation. Being the odd one. Stress. Mental problems. Social pressure. Parents who want their children to be a responsible adult, and children who don't want to become adults because, what does being an adult mean anyway?

I believed he was a real magician! Ugh, I'm still not sure if he was or not. I'm confused.

Where did R go? :( Im happy with the ending even though the mother and R werent exposed anymore. Just sad coz it left me hanging ther; trying to imagine what happened after :(
