Chloe Maxwell loves her small town existence, where life is predictable and safe. A one-night stand with a broody stranger was supposed to leave her only with good memories. He definitely wasn’t supposed to return as the new fire chief. He wasn’t supposed to be the hot, single father of her new student. And he certainly wasn’t supposed to swoop in and offer her a place to stay when she became homeless. For someone comfortable with status-quo, why did taking a risk suddenly seem appealing?
Willow Valley is the last place Everett Lawson wants to be. But with a sick grandmother to care for and a young daughter to raise, he’s looking to put down roots. He’s not interested in anything else and is definitely too busy for relationships. Staying away from the sunshine teacher his daughter loves should be easy. If only he could forget the night they shared. If only she wasn’t so incredible with his family. If only she didn’t make him feel like he’s finally found someone to belong to.
Letting each other see past the walls they put up was never part of the plan. But when new desires fight old fears, Chloe and Everett must decide what they want more: safety, or a shot at finding home.

Tropes- Single Dad Firefighter Forced Proximity Small Town Grumpy/Sunshine Found Family
✨️ Thank you to Alex Taylor for this ARC for my honest review! I really enjoyed this book! If you love a 'grumpy for everyone except her' man, you will love Everett. I love the connection that he and Chloe share. I adored Chloe's character and especially loved the relationship she has with Lila. Lila stole the show for me. Who does love a daddy's girl? The relationship and family unit that they build together was beautiful. This book was sweet and SPICY but also pulled out some tears in me a few times. I had a great time reading it and I definitely recommend it!
This was a delightful and sweet read! Who can resist a grumpy single dad, especially when he’s a fire chief? The story begins with Everett and Chloe meeting in a bar, leading to a one-night stand that they both expect to be just that. However, a few weeks later, Everett finds himself moving to the small town where Chloe lives to care for his grandmother. And to add an interesting twist, Chloe is the new teacher of Everett’s daughter’s teacher! They try to fight the chemistry between them, but when Chloe ends up living under the same roof, the sparks are hard to ignore.
Everett is the new fire chief in the small town. He may come off as grumpy and closed off, but underneath it all, he has such a big heart. His dedication to his family, especially his daughter and grandmother, is truly commendable. After everything that happened with his ex, Everett is hesitant to jump into any relationship. Yet, the more he gets to know Chloe, the more he finds himself drawn to her. Chloe is such a wonderful character—smart, confident, sweet, and independent. Her close bond with her parents and the way she cares for Everett’s daughter, Lila, are both heartwarming traits. Chloe brings a bright, sunny energy to the story, contrasting wonderfully with Everett’s broody demeanor, and that’s what makes him inescapably attracted to her light.
The relationship between Everett and Chloe is sweet, adorable, and passionate. I loved the moments when he took note of her likes and cooked for her! They had great communication, and I loved their honesty about what they want. Chloe’s openness and patience help Everett gradually open up, and it was touching to see him being vulnerable. Chloe’s parents' welcoming Lila and Everett into their lives adds to the warmth of the story. Overall, this book is a quick, easy, and heartwarming read that’s filled with swoony moments and heartfelt scenes. I adored every bit of it!
I really wanted to like this book but it just didn’t click for me. The possessiveness of the hero leaned more into controlling which I didn’t like. The chemistry wasn’t really there for me and I was hoping for more character development. I really struggled to finish this book. Overall I think the premise is interesting but the way it was executed didn’t work for me. Around 70% I got really into it again especially when her brother shows up. I did not like the characters as much and for me a good character always makes the story. Also it seems like most of what they do is have sex. I love a well placed sex scene but hate when 90% of the characters relationship is just their attraction to each other and when most of the book is them having sex. I think I’m just looking for something a bit more balanced.
Alex is a new to me author and she did not disappoint.
Finding Home is a small town, grumpy X sunshine, slow burnish with lots of tension and chemistry, single dad romance and let me tell you, I haven’t read something this fast in a hot minute. Every chance I got I was reading whether it was a paragraph or a page but it was hard to put down.
Chloe is from a small town, and is all sunshine and butterflies, she’s a teacher that likes to play it safe. Her hometown is her comfort place and there’s no place like home… until she has a one night stand with a hot broody many and just when she thinks she’ll never see him again.. he moves to her safe place.. her hometown. Even after he said he was just passing by. She’s sweet, love able and strong. She has her moments but strong nonetheless. I love how she is with Lila and how she treats her and includes her.
Everett is a single dad, fireman who can’t stop thinking about the sunshine girl who wore him down enough to talk. He knows he shouldn’t, but walks her home and follows her inside and has the best one night stand of his life. When he finds himself living in this small town even though it’s the last place he wants to be, he realizes that staying away from the beautiful ray of sunshine who wares him down is nearly impossible.
I love an emotional book and this one had me feeling happy, sad, giggly and down right smoky.. and not for the fires he puts out.
A broody man who talks in grunts is my favorite man, he treats his daughter and Chole so good, everyone else can just deal with his grunts and one worded answers.
Lila is a cutie pie who I adore, Alex did so well writing her in, the perfect and most realistic first grader I’ve read. There is a fine line between not acting their age whether it be older or younger than the portrayed age and Alex killed it with her! Absolutely adore!!!
One thing I could have used a bit less of was the spicy.. I know I know who can have to much spice… I love emotions as much as I love spicy parts. Just my personal preference, other than that; 4/5 ⭐️
Book releases July 31! Go add to Goodreads and pre order, you won’t regret it.
Everett is making a big move for him and his daughter Lila. He's moving to a small town in British Columbia, Canada to help while his grandma goes through cancer treatments. When he first arrived to buy a place, he may have had an unexpected one night stand with a gorgeous women he met at the bar. After settling in he comes face to face with her again - as his child's school teacher.

This was such a cute novel. I loved how grumpy Everett was, and how Chloe was the only one to pull his soft side out of him, aside from his daughter. Having the juxtaposition of Everett and Lila having such a small and fractured family, and Chloe coming from a large, warm and loving family was so perfect, especially as they slowly welcomed them in.
I'm a sucker for a small town environment and this was no exception. The unexpected even closer forced proximity kept the tension steady and had the chemistry and quiet yearning between the two of them ramp up.
This is the first book in the Willow Valley series, however a lot of characters are referenced that I believe are brought up in prior series, so it may be worth reading those books first to get a better understanding of the history between everyone. Otherwise this was a great book, and I can't wait to see what happens within the next one.

Thank you to Ember PR for the digital Advanced Review Copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is a story that really touches your heart, but will certainly have you feeling steamy. Everett moves to Willow Valley to be near his grandmother and to give his daughter a easier way of life. Becoming fire chief in the only place you actually had a home life with his grandparents. Bringing up his daughter on his own isn't easy but he wouldn't change it for the world. Chloe loves everything about Willow Valley it's where she grew up, where her parents still live and now she's a teacher at the school she once attended. Of course there's the downside that comes with small-town life and that everybody knows everybody and nothing stays secret. Except the new grumpy fire chief who is acting like he doesn't know her, plus he has a young daughter. Can she forget the one night they shared he obviously has. Will she be able to break through his well-built walls. What's really under his grumpy exterior. Will he ever be able to look at her and not want her. This story is just perfect and Everett really is the perfect grumpy grizzly bear with soft side if your lucky enough to see it. When he calls Chloe North it's the perfect nickname for her. I can't recommend this book enough and really hope to read from this author
Small town romance with a fire chief with the a dirty mouth. Yes please! This book surprised me as it was my first Alex Taylor book and has me now reading more of Alex’s work. The MMC Everett is a single dad who has recently moved to help his sick grandma. When he learns his daughter’s new school teacher is Chloe the woman he had a dirty one night stand with, he tries to distance himself. But he obviously can’t stop thinking about Chloe and their chemistry. The spice in this book is so good! Especially for those who enjoy a panty drenching cave man style “she’s mine” attitude from their MMC and a spit fire FMC who can tell her man what she wants. If you don’t like possessive men in your books, you may not enjoy this as much as the rest of us. 😋🌶️🌶️🌶️ I got hooked on the side characters as well and am wanting more from these stories that are coming in future books for this series! Yesss!!! I love a good series for small town romances because it really connects you to each character and Alex has done this with Everett and Chloe alongside their friends and family. Everett’s daughter is so flipping cute as well and I hope we get to see her a little in future stories! I’m looking forward to more!!
He's a closed off grump who doesn't let anyone in. He's a single dad trying to do what's best for his daughter. She is his entire world. The last thing he was looking for was a relationship of any kind. He had a one night stand and now he can't stop thinking about her. Never thought he would have to see her again. But he grandmother got sick, so he moved back. And whos his daughters teacher? Miss one night stand herself.
She is little miss ray of sunshine. A kindergarten teacher. The last thing she expected was to ever see the guy she had a one night stand with. Definitely didnt expect him to have a daughter, who is in her class. She has walls built up around her heart and doesnt want to let anyone in. Let alone a grump. But she cant seem to stop herself.
I adored this book! I'm not usually into the firefighter trope but i may be now. I loved their connection and banter. It just drew you in. This book had a lot of great laughs And the spice! 🥵🔥 It did have me tearing up a bit. So be prepared for that! Im so excited for the rest of the series to come out!
I really loved this book, it gave me exactly what I needed. The writing was easy to follow, but also full of emotion. I liked Everett a lot, even when he was grumpy, and Chloe had such a good energy that made every scene better. The way she interacted with Lila made my heart melt. Their chemistry was strong from the beginning, and it never faded. Honestly, it was one of those books where I smiled through most of it and didn’t want it to end. The small town vibes, the spice, and the warmth made everything feel cozy but exciting too. Definitely 5 stars from me, I’d read more about these characters anytime. Thank you so much to the author and Ember Literary PR for giving me the opportunity to read the book in advance, I received this for free and I'm leaving an honest review.
This book started out with a lot of good potential, and while I enjoyed most of it, there were just one too many things that Chloe or Everett did that just took this book down for me.
I won’t go in depth of all the things that I wasn’t a fan of so I don’t spoil anything, but I will say that Chloe leaving after a certain situation happens had me crashing out and ultimately took the book down from 4 stars to 3.5.
All in all, this wasn’t a bad book and had some very cute moments between Chloe and Everett and Lila.
It was sooo good! Everett was the most grumpy man alive I swear but the way he melted for his daughter every time 😮💨💖 I love that parts and the way he was with Chloe, super protective and possessive my god! 🫠 their love story was so beautiful, like they really complement each other and I love how Chloe was with Lila 💖 I really really recommend this book it’s so well paced and it gets you hooked since the very beginning and it’s nos just a cute love story is so hot too 😮💨❤️🔥 there are scenes that are forever living rent free in my mind 😉
This was so good, I couldn't wait to go to this town again and get to know the stories of their people. Everett was a major grump but he melted around his daughter and Chloe, honestly, it was adorable. Everything he did, was for his family and the people he loved. Chloe was pure sunshine and a good person. She tried not to, but she couldn't help herself and fall for him and his daughter. They both tried to resist the other but no avail. Their chemistry and attraction was too big and they fell for each other
When a one night stand turns to more. Chloe and Everett spend one night together but their attraction runs deeper but she just thinks he's passing through town. She's surprised when he moves there a few weeks later. They try to fight their attraction but their pull is too strong. Can they make things work? Can her sunshine personality break through his grumpy walls?
Weeks after a wild night with a man on his way out of the small town of Willow Valley, Chloe discovers that he has moved to town and OBVIOUSLY she's his daughter's teacher and OBVIOUSLY he's the new fire chief at the station next door to the school. Everett just wants to do his job, raise his daughter, and take care of his sick grandmother but seeing Chloe everywhere and thinking about her all the time is making keeping a low profile a real challenge. And when a mutually beneficial arrangement puts them in close proximity, it's only a matter of time before they have to stop lying to themselves.
Small children are totally an unfair advantage. A) how are you supposed to NOT fall in love with them and their parent and B) THEY ALWAYS KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING! Instantly loved Lila and I knew exactly what that girl was thinking when she wore her lucky dress. And I would have felt a lot worse for Ryder if I didn't know for a fact he was having the time of his life watching all this go down.
I want to thank the author for giving me the opportunity to fall in love with her new series!
This book gave me all the feels with these tropes Single Dad, Fire Chief, daughter’s teacher, forced proximity, grumpy x sunshine! I’m so glad Chloe was the first FMC in this new series I enjoyed meeting her in Keeping You her brother Grayson’s story. Everett was the perfect man for Chloe they balanced each others weaknesses and fell hard for each other. This book had me giggling, smiling and thoroughly entranced!
EVERETT IS MY MAN! If you love a grumpy man, a man of few words who grunts in response to a lot of people.. you will love him. He is possessive and just freaking everything. I mean he braids Chloe’s hair so he can learn how to braid his daughter’s hair 🥹 and he’s a firefighter?? Yeah, He’s my new favorite mmc from Alex’s universe 🫶🏼
I just love this story so much. From the one night stand to her being his daughter’s teacher… the f it moment?? Ugh, I’m obsessed 👏🏼 it’s fast paced, and just really kept me wanting more!
One of my favorite parts is Chloe and Lila’s relationship. Lila is the cutest little girl, and I loved how close they got. I’m such a sucker for a single parent romance where the partner forms such a close bond with the child.
I loved how Alex set up this new series. We were already introduced to some of the characters in Keeping You, and saw them again now… let me tell you I am ready for some of these relationships!!! They’re going to be so good 👏🏼
✏️ Small Town Romance 🔥 Firefighter MMC ✏️ Single Dad x Daughter’s Teacher 🔥 Forced Proximity ✏️ Grumpy x Sunshine 🔥 Found Family
5/5 ⭐️ this was perfection. i was obsessed from chapter one. everett and chloe were simply made for each other, i truly loved them so much 💜 chloe and lila’s relationship really added to the story. i cannot wait to continue on the story in willow valley 💜💜

⋆ single dad ⋆ small town ⋆ found family ⋆ forced proximity ⋆ grumpy x sunshine ⋆ firefighter x teacher/nanny __________
Oh this one was so adorable my god!! Finding home is a small town firefighter romance where we follow our FMC Chloe as she tries to forget about a one night stand with a grumpy out of town-er while also trying to find a new place to live and our MMC Everett as he moves him and his daughter to a small town where he runs into the ray of sunshine he spent the night with last time he was here. We follow through their eyes as one night a few months ago becomes a never ending connection filled with love and hope. We watch as these two strike a deal that changes both of their lives forever.
Oh my! These two are so damn adorable! Talk about grumpy x sunshine WOW! Chloe is such a beautiful ray of light wherever she goes and cares so much about the people she loves and Everett is such a grumpy but adorable character that hides his soft and light side for everyone except the ones he cares about most. I truly loved these two and they journey together! Their tension and their banter was so so addictive and I couldn’t get enough of them. Such a perfect couple! And watching Everett and Chloe take care of Lila had me absolutely melting! They both care so much about this little girl and ugh I love them!
I enjoyed the writing of this book so much!! The development and the plot point all worked so well! It was such a cohesive story!! Honestly I just loved this book and could not put it down at all!! Also loved that we were based in Canada hehe! I absolutely loved all the characters in this book and I absolutely can’t wait to read the rest of this series be wise I KNOW im going to absolutely fall in love with the couples and their stories!!
Overall, I absolutely loved this book!! I would like to thank Alex Taylor and Ember Literary PR for the ARC I absolutely can’t wait to read the rest of this series and more of Alex’s work in the future!! 💜🚒📚
I have a lot of praise for Alex Taylor’s Finding Home. With themes of belonging, risk, and second chances woven throughout, this small town romance blends tenderness and sensuality together with a sincerity that feels both heartfelt and earned. We’re introduced to our leading lovers, Chloe Maxwell, who has built her life on stability and the safety of the familiar, and Everett Lawson, a devoted single father carrying the weight of past heartaches and a startlingly determined will to overcome them, are thrown together by circumstance and by an undeniable chemistry that practically leaps off the page. As their worlds collide, the comfortable boundaries these two have carefully built are slowly dismantled to reveal vulnerabilities that neither one expected to ever share. The gradual unfolding of their emotional connection feels natural with how Taylor crafted their backstories, lending a genuine depth to the characters that makes them relatable. I will note, however, that for a seasoned romance reader, the premise may feel predictable and familiar, but this aspect is actually part of the story’s charm. I appreciate the emotional truths and thoughtful character beats. The author captures the wistfulness and warmth of romance found in unexpected places in a way that just makes you giggle like you’re the one falling in love. It also helps that Everett is a hunky fire fighter with a good heart, but that might be a small bias on my part. So, while the pacing can occasionally weave and feel a little bit awkward at some points, I think it mirrors the intimacy that slowly builds between Chloe and Everett and the sweet trust that truly blossoms at the end. Overall, I feel this first novel is a solid introduction to the world of Chloe and Everett, and I look forward to seeing what comes next. *I am honored to have read this ARC through Ember Literary PR. Thank you for the read, Alex Taylor and Ember Literary PR!

“You never know where home really is until you find the people who make you feel like you belong.”
Oh, my heart. Finding Home was such a warm, small-town hug of a book that I didn’t know I needed. From the very first page, I was invested in Everett—a grumpy, fiercely protective single dad who only wants the best for his daughter, Lila. He moves to a quiet little town in British Columbia to help his grandmother through cancer treatments, but of course, life has other plans.
That “oops, one-night stand” twist with Chloe? Chef’s kiss. I loved the surprise of her being Lila’s teacher and how their paths kept crossing in the most tender, tension-filled ways. Everett’s gruff exterior and Chloe’s gentle, sunshine-y warmth were absolute magic together. There’s something about watching a man like Everett soften for both his daughter and the woman who steals his heart that makes me melt.
“Sometimes family isn’t about blood. It’s about who shows up for you.” The contrast between Everett’s fractured family and Chloe’s big, close-knit one was perfection. The way her family welcomed Everett and Lila? I teared up more than once.
And can we talk about the small-town vibes? Willow Valley is the kind of place that feels alive with history and gossip, the kind of place where everyone knows everyone. The chemistry between Everett and Chloe had this quiet, aching yearning that slowly built, making the payoff so satisfying.
While this is technically the first book in the Willow Valley series, there are hints of characters and connections that I think come from Alex Taylor’s previous books. I didn’t feel lost, but I definitely want to dive into those stories now.
“Maybe home isn’t a place. Maybe it’s a person.” This book left me with such a happy, full heart. Sweet, romantic, and heartfelt, with just the right touch of steam—I can’t wait for the next installment!
This grumpy/sunshine romance kept me entertained and was my first book by this author. The small town romance is sweet with plenty of cute scenes between Chloe and Lila, Everett’s daughter. I loved Everett’s grumpy demeanor that hides his soft heart.
The book has a significant amount of spicy scenes, especially for a book with less than 300 pages. I’m not one to shy away from lots of spice, but once these two give in to their mutual attraction it seems like half of the rest of the book takes place in the bedroom.
Both Everett and Chloe have emotional baggage that slowly gets uncovered and discussed. There is a lot for each of them to unpack emotionally. It was refreshing to see each of them giving the other the chance to reveal their backstories without pressure to share things before they were ready.
I was a little surprised by the number of references to a traumatic event that happened to Chloe’s older brother and his high school girlfriend. I didn’t realize this new series was interconnected with a prior series, so these references were out of context and just a frustrating distraction. I wish the author had just spelled out what happened besides the miscarriage and why it had such an impact or Chloe rather than vague references about her not wanting to be the focus of small town gossip. (I actually went searching for details by reading reviews with spoilers from the previous series.) Chloe’s concern for small town gossip is ironic considering she moves in with the new single dad/Fire Chief whose daughter is her student. But barely a mention is made about the small towns reaction to this happening.
I did enjoy this book and would consider it a strong 3.5 star rating which is why I rounded up to a 4. I received a free ARC from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.
📢Big thanks to Alex Taylor and Ember Literary PR for the chance to read early—ARC provided, opinions not influenced (those are all me).📢
Chloe Maxwell loves her small hometown life. A spontaneous one-night stand with a charming stranger, Everett Lawson, is supposed to be just that—one night. But this wouldn't be a romance if fate didn't intervene. Everett, a single dad and firefighter, moves to town with his daughter… who just happens to be Chloe’s student. And when Chloe needs a place to live, Everett offers up his spare bedroom. What could possibly go wrong? Or, in this case, right?
This story is full of cozy vibes, forced proximity magic, and sweet family dynamics. Everett is your classic broody male lead—though he does lean into the broody side a little heavily at times, but when he lets his guard down with Chloe, it’s worth the wait. And watching him be an absolute softie with his daughter added a lot of tenderness to the story.
Chloe was easy to root for. She’s kind, responsible, and genuinely cares for Lila. Their relationship felt natural and heartfelt—like Lila had found a second mom. And let’s not forget Grandma Delores, who totally stole the show. I want her sass and wisdom when I’m older, please and thank you.
Some parts of the writing felt a bit uneven. The setup for future books was noticeable and didn’t always blend seamlessly with the main storyline. A few conversations came off a little stiff or scripted—but that’s just my two cents, you are welcome to disagree. 🤷🏻♀️
That said, I thought the chemistry between Chloe and Everett was strong, and I appreciated the six-months-later epilogue—it was a nice way to wrap up their story.
Overall, this was a heartwarming start to a promising new series. If you like small-town romance with a side of fireman hotness and a lovable kid, give this one a chance! ⭐⭐⭐ HEA? yes 🌶️🌶️/5
I really enjoyed reading this book! It was cute, but spicy and just had all the things I love in my books!
I loved Chloe. She was such a sweetheart and willing to help those who need it. As a former Kindergarten teacher, I loved that she was a Kindergarten teacher too. She’s afraid of getting hurt, so she may not always make the best decisions for herself. She was so great with Lila, Everett’s daughter, and she treated her like her own from the very beginning. I loved the relationship she had with her friends and family.
Everett is the biggest grump and the new fire chief in town. He was such a great dad to Lila. All he wanted was for her to have the best life she could, even though he was a single dad. I love how he was down bad for Chloe and how protective she was of her. He was also so possessive and I won’t lie, I ate it up! I I loved when he started to put his walls down with Chloe and began opening up to her about his past.
These two had such great chemistry. The spicy scenes were definitely spicy! Not only that, but I loved how they were a cute, little family. Chloe fit right in with Lila, Everett and his grandma. I felt like their conflict was realistic and I liked how it was handled.
Miss Lila stole the show! She was such a cutie and I really hope we get more of her in the future. I loved getting snippets of Grayson and Hannah from Keeping You and I cannot wait to see what happens with the rest of Chloe’s friends!
If you love a small town, grumpy/sunshine, single dad, found family, firefighter romance, you really need to read this. I would 100% recommend it!
Thank you Alex Taylor for the ARC for an honest review!
Firstly I would like to thank Alex Taylor and Ember Literary PR for giving me the chance to read this early. Finding Home is an amazing read, it was everything I wanted it to be and more. Small town romance featuring a single dad firefighter and a teacher/nanny, what’s not to love? Everett comes to town to take care of his grandma, not necessarily looking for a relationship. Everett and Chloe enjoy one night together thinking they’ll never see each other again, but little do they know their lives are about to cross a lot more often. Chloe needs a place to stay and Everett needs someone to watch his daughter, so he offers her his spare room in exchange for childcare. Tensions rise between the two while living under the same roof and attachments are being made. I enjoyed how they tried very hard to ignore their feelings for each other but couldn’t help but flirt with each other every chance they got. I loved how on the outside Everett was grumpy but when it came to those he loved he was very attentive and protective. They communicated well about what they wanted from each other and I loved how possessive the MMC was. I really enjoyed the relationship between Chloe and Lila, they seemed to form a strong bond and connect instantly. Challenges and obstacles were faced along the way but they became each other’s home and safe space. Love is a journey and trouble may arise but as long as they fight together then they will come out stronger. I loved this book and the connections being made between Everett, Chloe, and Lila. Their story was cute, flirty, sweet, and filled with tons of love. I enjoyed every second of their story and I can’t wait for others to enjoy it as well.
Finding Home by Alex Taylor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 📅 Release Day: TODAY! 📚 Book One in the Willow Valley Series 🌶️ Spice Level: 2/5 – Tender and emotional with just the right touch of heat
This story was so beautiful and heartwarming! 💛 Everett is doing everything he can for his daughter Lila, including moving to a small town to support his grandmother through cancer treatments. What he didn’t expect? A spontaneous one-night stand that turns into something much more—especially when he finds out the woman he met is Lila’s new teacher 😳
I absolutely loved Everett and Chloe together. He’s the grumpy, closed-off single dad, and she’s the sweet, steady warmth that slowly melts his walls (besides Lila, of course 💕). Their bond builds so naturally, and watching Chloe and her big, loving family embrace Everett and Lila gave me all the cozy small-town feels 🏡
The chemistry between them simmers with that perfect slow-burn pull. It’s emotional, meaningful, and yes—there’s a sprinkle of steam when the time is right 🔥 The tension and connection feel real and lived-in, not just physical.
This is the first book in the Willow Valley series, and while it stands on its own, fans of Alex Taylor’s earlier books will enjoy the cameos and deeper connections.
Everett, Chloe, and little Lila completely stole my heart 💓 I laughed, I sighed, and I finished it smiling. I can’t wait to see what’s next for Willow Valley!
📖 Huge thanks to Ember PR and Alex Taylor for the ARC. All thoughts are 100% my own. Happy Release Day! 🥳
From the moment I met Chloe and the charming town of Willow Valley in Keeping You, I knew I needed more of her story — and Finding Home absolutely delivered. This book felt like a warm hug, a punch to the gut, and a steamy daydream all at once.
If you know me, you know I have a soft spot for a grumpy single dad, and Everett is grumpy dad perfection. He’s emotionally closed-off, fiercely protective, and 100% devoted to his daughter — basically everything I want in a romance hero. And speaking of his daughter… Lila is one of my favourite book kids ever. She’s sweet, resilient, and brought so much heart to the story. I genuinely teared up more than once because of her but also had a big cheesy grin on my face too.
The pacing of this book was absolutely spot on — I was hooked from the first page and completely swept up in the emotional journey. Alex Taylor knows how to bring the feels, and wow, she did not hold back.
Also, can we talk about the spice? 🥵 I already knew Alex could write a sizzling scene from her previous books, but this one was next level. There were moments that had me fanning myself and blushing like mad. 👀
If you’re into small town romance with big emotions, found family, forced proximity, and the perfect grumpy/sunshine dynamic, Finding Home is an absolute must-read. I’m already eagerly counting down to the next book in the Willow Valley series!
Trigger warnings: family member with cancer, discussions of parental death, discussions of drug use and overdose, discussions of miscarriage (not experienced by the MC’s), explicit sex scenes
Finding Home delivers all the cozy feels of a slow-burn small-town romance, wrapped up in heartfelt family dynamics and emotional growth. Centering on Matthew Carter, a grumpy firefighter and unexpected single dad, and Zoey Williams, his sunshine-bright sister’s best friend, the story explores the challenges of unexpected parenthood, second chances, and discovering where you truly belong.
Alex Taylor excels at writing relatable, down-to-earth characters. Matt’s journey from commitment-phobic playboy to loving father is authentic and endearing, while Zoey's drive to help him—despite her own fears and past disappointments—makes her easy to root for. Their chemistry is tender, filled with slow-burn attraction and plenty of banter as they build a relationship from trust and friendship.
The setting is classic small town, brimming with warmth, gossip, and a supportive found family. The author doesn’t shy away from heavier themes (including parental loss, abandonment, and grief), but balances them with hope and healing. The baby twist brings charm, and a dash of drama keeps the pages turning, though the story never loses its gentle tone.
If there’s a minor quibble, some plot points are familiar for the genre and certain resolutions feel a bit swift. However, the emotional payoff, lovable cast, and realistic romance outweigh any shortcomings.
Perfect for fans of single-dad tropes, grumpy/sunshine pairings, and small-town stories with genuine heart, Finding Home is a comforting, feel-good start to the Willow Valley series that will leave you eager for more.
