This was the ending readers have been wanting for James, Tate, and Sebastian.

It was sex that brought these men together and over the years they've explored and grown. There are engaging and loving scenes throughout the story. Starting with a lovely visit from the charming Etienne whom we met in The Cross and the Trinity. Still needy and hungry to be filled, and Tate's still as eager to play with it all when James, Sebastian and he have finished. And all the scenes have that thoughtfulness to them, but something's missing. It's told from Tate's first person point of view, but still manages to feel distant, like you're being kept at arm's length. Then there's the actual plot.

Food, sex, drama... food, sex, drama... food, sex, drama...
1,2,3 1,2,3 yes, we're waltzing.

Food, there's food in every scene, very domestic and charming, but not exactly riveting. I actually think the representation of kinky people as domestic and not always being "on' is incredibly relevant and interesting, but not like this. I can tell you what everyone ate and drank and it felt cluttered with too much minutiae.

Also, because of an odd twist to promote a new personal storyline for the men, a few character entrances or exits seemed to be stretching probable. You don't ask someone who just met a person weeks ago to help select a wedding present when you've known them for years or decades. No. Even better, they're the giftee's personal shopper--Huh?

Of course, the play scenes were lovely, and featured a broad range of interests: cum play, fisting, rope bondage, plugs, chastity, spanking, enema play--kinky and more unique take than usual, puppy play, crop, strap, anal hook, and paddling. Sebastian has some nice moments as Blue. Tate gets to stretch his switch tendencies, and James--well that is very interesting. This was hinted at in Beyond the Edge and then ignore during the second, so I was not surprised, but pleased to see its reappearance:
“Well, maybe James has more sub leanings than we thought.”

The rom-com wedding scene ending just added to how surreal and ungrounded the events in the story felt.

Overall, polyamory, kink, and love are woven into sweet, domestic bliss.

I love these guys - they're so perfect together. A Numinous Light is different from the first two books of the series, and different from The Loft. So much of it is kind of a 'day in the life' of Tate, Sebastian and James.

Elizabeth Lister sneaks in some new/established, young/old, hope/despair - just a bunch of really emotional situations and a look at how folks get through it all. The bonds between these guys and their friends and family are so powerful, and the depth of the love between these three.

Tate's first person narrative is so intimate and just perfectly written.

This is the most unique poly relationship I've ever read and it will always be my favorite.

For some reason this installment didn't reach quite the same heights as the other two. Perhaps because it was about a settled relationship and angst and drama came from outside. However I still enjoyed catching up with the lads and seeing another side of James. The ending just kind of happened, I turned the page but there was no page to turn!

A review by The Blogger Girls.

I have been a big fan of this series and fell in love with all three guys, most especially James. So, it was a big comforting feeling to start this and see how they are making out these days.

It’s been a few years now that they have all been living together, and things seem to be going pretty well. They all seem to have found their place with each other which was really great to see. These guys all love each other and manage to do so with very little to no jealousy or drama.

There isn’t nearly as much BDSM in this as I remember being in the others. For starters, this is really more of the guys in their day-to-day lives with more comfort and cuddling. Second, James has a bit of an accident which lays him up a bit. This makes things a bit interesting though, in that James is not one to sit idly by without participating. One of the things I enjoyed here was watching James come up with ways to work around his lack of mobility, especially during scenes. There is more of a sentimental feel to this one, as the guys celebrate James’ birthday, the holiday, as well as deal with some eye-opening experiences.

Another thing I really enjoyed about this, and the series in general, is how well this relationship works. There is give and take by each involved, and everyone gets their needs met. The BDSM aspects feel very realistic to me, as I never have a feeling of it being cheesy or hokey. Even the aspects I am not always particularly fond of, such as the puppy play, are done in a way that made me feel ok, even if I still don’t quite understand it. I realized that I don’t need to, just as Tate doesn’t need to. It’s enough that it is what Sebastian needs and enjoys. It is James that is able to provide that for Sebastian and offer the stability for Tate to be more comfortable with it too.

Overall, this was a wonderful conclusion to their story. While I wasn’t totally blown away by it, I don’t think I’d ever tire of reading about these guys, and James remains one of my favorite Doms. Their stories are well written and extremely enjoyable with a realistic and believable feel to them. I’m looking forward to whatever Ms. Lister comes up with next.

In this third installment of The James Lucas Trilogy, five years have passed for the trio. It is a treat to see how life has changed for James, Tate, and Sebastian. We get to see what their day-to-day lives are like and I think this book further validates that this type of relationship is not only just three people having sex but it is a way of life for them. I find this rather fascinating. The Numinous Light has exciting sex scenes but it goes beyond that; we see three men who really love, trust and support each other. We see that trust exhibited in the sexual scenarios but also in how they support one another through several pivotal life-changing experiences. Sebastian has some family surprises that give him opportunity for reflection as well. The men have a wonderful sense of community.

The BDSM scenes are very steamy. The men live without power struggles or jealousy. We see great care and respect displayed particularly in terms of safety, and tenderness. There is a very big difference between aggressive and assertive and men in this story have a clear understanding of that and demonstrate that very well. There are scenes of puppy play in the book, which is something that readers will either like or dislike. Personally, for my own tastes, that part does not interest me but this does not reflect on the quality and writing of this story.

I like the title of the book and looked it up to find that it was as adjective having a heavy sense of Spiritual or Divinity about it. There are many facets to the BDSM community and this examines several of them.

I really like how the men interact when the three of them are together, and when they make time for special one on one action. James and Tate, the younger men in the relationship, genuinely love each other and they both love Sebastian too. We get to see how Sebastian treats them individually, and when together. He is very in tune with their feelings, concerns, and their need for discipline.

There were times that the story moved a bit slow for my taste. James and Tate fawn all over Sebastian as if obedient pups and I found it a bit distracting and made them not appear as mature as I would have liked. But overall I did like the writing and the characters. I think the book will be a treat for fans who want to catch up and see what James, Tate, and Sebastian have been doing in their lives. Numinous Light is a great chance for a reunion.

It has been 9 months since I read book 2 and I have to be honest when I first started to read this final book in the trilogy, I was a little disappointed.
The writing style seemed different from the first 2 books and the actual story seemed flat to me.
However, after a while it really picked up.
The guys are still great together and as the book progressed the BDSM parts came more to the fore.
Yes, there was sadness and the introduction of new characters including James' mom and her girlfriend.
In the end I really enjoyed the book and I am sorry to see the guys go.

3.5 stars, rounded up 'cause I like these guys.

Nice catch up/conclusion to this story. It is mostly a lot of kinky sex scenes which were very good. But too much for my personal taste. These guys have a committed MMM relationship but they f*ck other guys as a group occasionally. If you don't like your MCs having sex with others be warned that you will find that in this book.
Also all the sex is kinky one way or another, there is also fisting and enema play.

A satisfying end to this trilogy. The guys are into their 5th year together and they have worked their needs and wants into mutual compromise. And new things are incorporated, Tate gets to step up into a more domimant role with James and Sebastian explores his pupness.

Along the way, they have to deal with real-life circumstances, accidents, wedding and deaths. And deal in their own unique ways.

A lovely (and hot!) conclusion to this series. I admit, I adore these characters too much to be entirely objective, but I continue to be enamored with the healthy portrayal of BDSM and an open-ish relationship that is refreshingly drama-free. It was deeply gratifying to spend more time in their world.

I enjoyed this book a great deal. It was a nice addition to the series. It doesn't so much expand the characters as let us see them a nice steady establish threesome. They been together five years now and we get to see some great kink scenes along with them just living and enjoying their lives together. The introduction of James's mother was a surprise and Patrice's part of the story was sad.

Nice conclusion to James, Tata and Sebastian's story.
They renew their commitments to each other and go through a few scary thing but they come out stronger in the end.
Love the way this story is based in Ottawa, Canada...my home town.

So ménage is not my favorite, however I really like these characters a bunch. I was very worried on numerous occasions that they were going to introduce even more peeps to their party. I guess that is the part I do not get. I almost understand the need to have these three for their wants and needs to be met. I do not get when they add even more, I think that it should be enough. The heart breaking story of Patrice and Freddy put a lot of things into perspective. The scenes are well though out and interesting to read. How Tate takes over when he needs to for James makes my heart hurt a bit. I like the story and the characters and would read more if there were any others.

Maybe it's because I missed the first two in the series, but I'm not impressed and the characters are uninteresting.
