Anyone But You #2

Tutti ma non il Capo!

Rate this book

Anyone But The Boss is a fantastic follow up to Anyone But The Billionaire. It has all the humor, chemistry and lightness I absolutely adored in book 1. And if you haven't read the first book, fear not! This one stands well on its own.

In Anyone But The Boss you get a mash up of the best tropes including Grumpy Sunshine and Fake Relationship, both of which I love.

This book is LOL funny with lots of physical comedy, and Sara does a fantastic job of bringing that comedy to life in this book. It's made even better with so many touching moments that melted my heart ❤️

And as an added bonus, you get a very valuable lesson about being thoughtful about what to take in a carryon through airport security. #iykyk

Loved it!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

It's a bit spicy, their chemistry is off the charts

Enchanting, charming, and inviting—The Moore’s are back!

Anyone But the Boss follows Thomas Moore, the uptight and perpetually frowning heir to the family’s billion-dollar business. Alice Truman is the new marketing manager who gets under Thomas’s skin like no other. When they both head to Vegas for Chase and Bell’s wedding, no amount of planning could prepare either for the rollicking and rowdiness upon their arrival in sin-city.

Perfect for anyone who adores humor and spice with a dash of campy and a sprinkle of Mr. Darcy

…Grumpy/sunshine

With bawdy wit and snarky humor, SLH delivers a hilarious but heartfelt billionaire, Cinderella, ugly duckling, single parent romance that kept me hanging on every word. Despite being over billionaire romances, so over, I was looking forward to returning to the Moore family world, and this one is pure delight that doesn’t disappoint.

We met Thomas Moore in Chase and Belle's romance (A Little Moore Action) and knew he was a giant stick-in-the-mud. But this doesn’t even begin to describe the other brother and heir to the Moore department store empire. He's scowly, grumpy, demanding, and unforgiving. In his defense, he's trying to right the wrongs of his father, but this dude needs to learn to lead with consideration rather than judgment.

Alice Truman knows all about judgy Mr. Moore. Thanks in part to her BFF Belle, Alice has been promoted from selling shoes to marketing, both on social media and store displays. Agreeing to be her BFF's maid of honor at a Vegas wedding is a no-brainer, but Alice isn’t a fan of spending extra time with her grouchy boss.

What happens in Vegas doesn’t stay in Vegas (there's A LOT I’m leaving out), and Thomas has a front-row seat to Alice's latest train wreck when her foster sister dumps little Mary in her Auntie Alice's lap. At a time where compassion and conversation are vital, Thomas approaches things with private investigations and contracts. What he didn’t plan for is little Mary and her Aunt Alice working their way under his skin and into his heart.

I’ve been with this talented storyteller since the beginning, and each new romance is somehow better than the last. I’ve come to trust her in every way to provide a funny, heartfelt, phenomenal reading experience. If possible, I love this on even more than Chase and Belle's story. We get more insight into the family, and Mama Moore is quickly becoming a favorite character. She and Mary together are the sweetest, and she becomes the mother Alice never had.

Of course we have appearances from the ornery hairless cat, Mike Hunt, and little Mary's scenes with him are hilarious and heartwarming. Then, to see this closed-off, unemotional, billionaire bachelor figure out what family really means is truly magnificent. My heart is full to bursting with this extraordinary, evocative, heartfelt romance, and I know you'll love it as much as I do. Run to the 1-Click now and don’t miss this fun, full-of-heart, unparalleled romcom!

Heartwarming and funny, a perfect read for anyone wanting to take a mini vacation from the real world with a dash of spice added in. I loved this book, you won’t want to put it down it never lagged and it actually had me chuckling out loud at times.

Alice’s boss Thomas is not someone she particularly likes so after a drunken night in Vegas they both wake up together with matching wedding rings they agree they need to keep things as quiet as possible and try getting it annulled before anyone finds out. While trying to get back home to speak with a lawyer a family emergency happens for Alice which puts the separation temporarily on hold. During this time together Alice starts to see Thomas in a different light along with some clues that maybe Thomas has been interested in her long before they woke up with matching rings.

One of my favorite part in this book is the relationship between Mary, Alices young niece and Emily aka Queenie, Thomas’ mother who definitely gives off Emily Gilmore vibes. Their relationship will pull on your heartstrings while making you grin the whole time. Add in a hairless cat named Mike with a bad catnip addiction and you won’t be able to put this book down.

This was my first book by Sara L. Hudson and I cant wait to get my hands on her others and see what they hold in store.

Tropes include:
Dual POV
Grumpy Sunshine
Workplace Romance
Found Family
Forced proximity

This book wasn’t for me in the end. When the story didn’t feel far-fetched, it was laced with plenty of steamy sex scenes and quite a thin plot. I felt uncomfortable with the decade age-gap between the main characters as their relationship developed, picturing instead someone who was similar in age to Alice. Thomas is really hung up on behaving like his scandalised father and I had thought he was in his late twenties, early thirties. But, the little bit of information on his age meant I thought this oldish bachelor love story was a bit, well, yucky. I prefer my billionaire romances to be a bit younger!

Although this is part of a series, I didn’t notice and came in on book two without needing to know too much of the family history: the writer gives enough clues along the way to helpfully fill in any blanks. I like that Thomas’s family run a successful department store and this is where their wealth seems to originate from. This made his background a bit different to similar romance reads, rather than the male character typically being a rich bachelor who works in law.

The story switches between Thomas and Alice’s perspectives so you get a real sense of what these main characters are feeling. I enjoyed that sometimes it moved over immediately, continuing the scene on from the other character. It meant the story flowed and was less disjointed.

Some of the scenes in the book felt toe-curlingly awkward, such as at the airport security and the morning after the night before in Vegas. The lack of memories after an alcohol-fuelled evening did remind me of an episode from Friends… just a lot steamier instead. Yes, there were some entertaining scenes in between it all, but unfortunately I did not find I was chuckling too often.

The sub-plot featuring Mary became quite emotive and this was my favourite aspect of the story, rather than the main romance theme. I found Kayla’s character to be shocking so that Alice and Thomas’s actions become even more heroic in contrast. I really sympathised with Mary but admired her stoicism and perspective one-liners she has throughout the book. It was a total contrast with the awful cat, who made me shudder every time I imagined it!

Unfortunately, I didn’t get as much from this book as I was hoping. I am grateful to have given this author a try but I don’t think the story hung together particularly well, not aided by the fact it seemed so far-fetched and convenient in places.

With thanks to Boldwood books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 ˚✩ ⋆。˚ the best thing about one bed trope is always the morning after bit 😭 vegas one night stand to fake marriage for guardianship (+ boss/employee) i love this song!
“i wiggle closer to mary, thinking the more distance i have between thomas and myself the better. but his arms tighten in his sleep, dragging me back, closer than before.”

i love this fake marriage genre SO BAD pls like the guy being so used to his quiet depressing life until his days are just filled with chaotic and loud mornings THEN you snatch that suddenly comfortable lifestyle from him with some good angst and boom he’s pathetic !

“a few minutes later, settled in my den chair, i can still hear them. chattering about their day, pancakes and mary’s lament that disney has yet to create an astronaut princess.
and… i don’t hate it.”

so…. imma be real i did not care at all about the scenes where they were not together. i was almost skimming ngl if you asked me who anyone else but his mom/kayla are… mmm idk. but alicethomas got meeeee! this was better than i expected actually like i just started reading at 6 am and finished in 3 hrs 😁 also so happy they are fostering kids (quite rare bc the typical epilogue would’ve had her pregnant tbh) but this was perfect <3333

also you have been pre-warned about the first line of this book and you will never ever guess what it is KSHDKDH

Sara L Hudson never fails to bring the laughs, and Anyone But the Boss is no different. I do recommend reading the first book, Anyone but the Billionaire, for context on Chase, Bell, Mike Hunt, and the random continued appearances of Elvis Presley. You will giggle and swoon.

Thomas is the grumpy boss trying to keep his company away from the taint of his father's recent arrest - a father who was a serial philanderer and almost destroyed their family business. Alice is an employee he can't stop paying attention to, even when he wishes he could. She's got her own struggles, and finding people she can belong to and who will choose her is a big part of it. These two, while they can't see it at first, desperately need each other.

Thomas has a great character arc in this - it's not stated clearly as trauma recovery, but it is. He's so afraid of making a mistake that he never allows himself to find anything good either. With the complication of Alice in his life, and suddenly her 6 year old niece Mary, the universe is no longer allowing him to be closed off. Mary gets in first, but it's hard for him to keep Alice out when he so badly wants to let her in.

Alice finds that she can have steel underneath her kindness. There are a lot of very satisfying conversations, and I was always amused that the only person she consistently had an attitude with was Thomas.

My favorite thing about Sara's books is that things always go wrong, and go wrong in ways that are spectacularly hilarious. I regularly laugh out loud when I read her books, and even the spicy moments sometimes turn funny - in this book especially.

If you're looking for the perfect blend of funny, romantic, and cozy, Anyone but the Boss is definitely it.

Thank you Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this ARC! In exchange for an honest review.

All opinions are my own.

Wow, what a read. I didn't think I'd get approved after so long (my last review was on December 2022 :') ) but I did and THANK GOD FOR THAT because this book did IT to get me out of my reading slump.

Anyone but The Boss features Alice Truman, a 29-year-old lead marketer or some sort and her 40-something grumpy (when are they not) boss heading to Las Vegas for Alice's BFF and boss's brother elopement/destination wedding. While Alice had been working for a year at Thomas Moore's company, she and Thomas didn't have a warm or even friendly acquaintance. They were like two ships passing through each other...but with repressed sexual tension (but they would never admit it).

Anyway, after a series of connections on the flight to Vegas, decorating Thomas's room for bachelorette party, said party being a disaster... they ended up... yep, you guessed it. Sleeping with each other. And guess what happened every time Vegas is involved? Yep, you guessed it right again.

It went on from there, throwing in Mary, Alice's kinda niece, and Emily (Thomas's Mom) to the mix. IT WAS EPIC!

First of all, I totally adore Mary. Like. The kid was so wholesome and such a sweetheart! I think if she weren't in this, the book would be less sunshine-y. Add Emily Moore to the mix, and AHHHHH! SO FREAKING CUTE

I admit, the first few chapters I was a bit lost with the timeline because the author skipped one scene to the next without a switch. To be honest, I didn't even like Alice much, and that incident at the airport and bachelorette party were very cringe, especially the airport one.

But we could see Thomas's growth throughout the book, and how Alice brought him out of his shell with Mary. Alice gradually became cooler (but still a bit of a doormat) but what I love the most about her was how much she loved Mary and would do anything for her.

The very best part of this book is the grovel. HAHA everyone who knows me on Goodreads knows how much I'm a sucker for that. The angst and the heartbreak that eventually lead to the grovel, ME LIKEY! So that is why this book is getting a 4-star rating from me. If there were .5 stars, I'd give it 4.5! Not a 5-star yet, no.

Anyone but The Boss comes out 18 September 2023!

Spice: 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️

Anyone but the Boss is anything but boring, and it’s as outrageous and funny as I’ve come to expect from Sara!

Thomas is described as a Mr. Darcy like character, and I’m here for it! I found him to actually be pretty funny and sweet (most of the time anyway) and my heart hurt for him and how he was raised. Thomas and Alice are definitely grumpy/sunshine, but Thomas is the only one who can actually make Alice grumpy too! Honestly, I’m not sure they would’ve figured things out with each other if it wasn’t for Vegas and meddling family, so I love how things worked out for them.

I absolutely loved the grand gesture in the end and the epilogue, but I do wish we would’ve seen these two discussing their issues a little bit more. This can be read as a standalone, but I definitely recommend reading the first one as it gives you a little more background on all the characters. Looking forward to seeing everyone back together for Liv’s book!

Mike Hunt is a menace.

A hairless, loose-skinned menace responsible for so many laughs in Anyone but the Boss!!

This is one of the funniest books I've read in a long time. There's a black eye caused by a giant B.O.B., a motor-boating cat, and a scene with a stripper reminiscent of a Bloodhound Gang song.

"Is this a dream?"

"Must be."...

"Why?"...

"Because I thought of you and you appeared."

It's also one of the sweetest books I've read! Thomas is the grump to Alice's sunshine, and he lights up only around her.

Have all of the interactions where Alice thought he was being an elitist dictator been...something else? Have they held some deeper meaning that was obscured by Thomas' lack of social skills and cold upbringing?

Watching Thomas thaw under Alice's warmth and watching how he interacts with Mary, Alice's ward, will bring a goofy smile to your face. I spent most of the book smiling like an idiot!

I love that this was written in dual POV because you got to experience what was going on behind the scenes in Thomas' mind. There are a lot of people out there who don't know how to express themselves, and watching him struggle was both hilarious and heartwarming.

"I'M SORRY. PLEASE COME HOME."

Most of Thomas' grand gesture brought tears to my eyes. There was just one detail that made me cringe slightly, but to avoid spoilers, I'm going to let you experience it for yourself.

If you like spicy romcoms with zany side characters, grab Anyone but the Boss!

Thank you, Sara L. Hudson and NetGalley, for the opportunity to read this book! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Mike Hunt is back -- along with the other characters from the first book in the series. He gets to have a terrific time staying with Thomas while Chase and Bell are on their honeymoon, and he gets a lovely new nickname from his new friend Mary.
For Thomas and Alice, this is not as much fun. They are attracted to each other but don't understand each other at all. This is not a slow burn for physical stuff, but it is incredibly slow emotionally. Alice gets her first inkling that Thomas isn't a robot around the 75% mark, and Thomas takes a good deal longer to figure that out. I felt that the sadness of the Mary subplot and Alice's backstory needed balancing with romantic feelings by the MCs. It was hard for me to read for long at a time.
However, the grovel and grand gesture were good, so the HEA was worth waiting for. And there were lots of funny bits thrown in. So this is a 4 star from me.

The first line already had me cackling and that’s how the whole book was. FUNNY. The brothers are so hilarious, the banter between all of them and ofcourse Thomas being funny without even trying or wanting to be funny. And let’s not forget about his beef with Mike (iykyk).
Thomas was so judgemental and rude in the beginning but he grew on me because he clearly cared about Alice and Mary. What I also appreciated was how his family called him out on his bullshit, now that was realistic. Alice is one of the most caring fmc’s. Her heart was always in the right place and Mary was just adorable.
And let’s not forget about the spice. The spice between them was on fire. It was primal.
I kind of wished that the groveling went on for a little bit longer, because the groveling in this story was good. I would have loved to have seen more of that👀
Other than that, I recommend this book.

!!! This book will come out on September 18. You can pre-order it on Amazon.

🎶 The songs that I was listening to the entire time while reading were I’ll Be There by Jackson 5, Count On Me Bruno Mars and All The Time by Jeremih.

Book 2 of the Anyone But You series, featuring Alice Truman, newly promoted Marketing exec at Moore Inc and Thomas Moore, owner and her grumpy boss.

This was book was fun!. I found myself laughing a lot through it and I really enjoyed the cute relationship between Alice and Thomas. I also enjoyed the other characters within the book. Those I enjoyed most were Chase - the hilarious brother, Emily - the glam Mother, Mike - the hairless cat and Mary - the cute 6 old.

A super fun, quick read. It didn’t disappoint and I highly recommend.

(31/08/23: finished reading. review to come.)

Okay so it's Sept 6th and I've finally coming up for air after a whirlwind of a first few days back at work.

Likes:
> Funny. I laughed throughout the entire book.
> MMC actually matured bc he was a grade A asshat in the beginning but the fact that his loved ones called him out on his shit really flipped it for me. Tick.
> FMC was such a sweetheart.
> Spice. Mmmm.

Dislikes:
> Not a fan of groveling, though that's a me thing.
> Also not a fan of "older" MMCs but this one was done so well it shouldn't even be a dislike.

4 stars, will read again, will recommend.

I loved the first one of this series and enjoyed this one just as much! The focus this time is Thomas Moore of luxury department store Moores and Alice Truman, their marketing manager. Thomas won’t allow himself to admit that he likes Alice and she is convinced that grumpy, unapproachable Thomas can only be admired from afar. Events in Las Vegas at Chase Moore’s wedding changes things and what follows is a story that is steamy, funny and with some serious issues covered. I loved all the characters in this and was great that those from the previous book played such a big part in this one. Really hoping that there is a book 3!!

Thanks to netgalley and publisher for the arc!

Loved the first book, Chase is such a cutie pie and was so funny! This was more serious but very sweet and gave me all the feels! Mike the cat being back was hilarious especially since Thomas hated him so much I was laughing so hard at so many of the cat scenes in this! Mary is adorable and for once didn't hate the inclusion of a child in romcom! Alice ahhh I love that she finally got her lovely family she always deserved! The chemistry was there with Alice and Thomas pretty quick but one thing I wish we got was more of their first year knowing each other because later it would make much more sense how things transpired but either way love this series and hope we get a third book for their baby sis Liz!

This is a nice quick read that features Alice, a visual merchandiser as she falls in love with her boss Thomas through a series of hilarious event that lead to her friend's wedding. Though it is a predictable storyline and ending, there are some very heart-warming moments that are well though out. With a good dose of humor all throughout, the book will keep you engaged and hooked till the very end. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. Quite enjoyed this one.

What do you get with a destination wedding in Vegas, a bag full of dildos, and a hairless cat named Mike Hunt? A rip-roaring hilarious romp that will keep you in stitches from start to finish.

Thomas Moore is an uptight billionaire who is turning over a new leaf. He's trying to express his feelings more, mending fences with his brother, Chase, and working on his stalker tendencies with the new marketing team’s visual merchandiser. The new girl is an enigma to a man like him. She's shy, polite, and kind (except towards him), and he's on his way to Vegas with her to help plan his brother's wedding from hell. What could go wrong?

Alice Truman loves her job at Moore's, but her brooding boss will be the death of her. He's rude, condescending, and oh, so hot. Determined to prove her worth at work and as a bridesmaid to her new friend Bell, she will show decorum and be responsible for her actions. Yeah, that didn't happen.

After getting wasted in Las Vegas, Alice and Thomas give in to their attraction and wake up with rings on their fingers and a marriage neither of them wants. Until Alice's foster sister, Kayla, ditched her little girl, Mary, and Alice had to pick up the pieces. As a last-minute decision, Alice "blackmails" Thomas into staying married to save Mary from the foster care system which Alice knows all too well.  Not a great start for the couple, but with a little help from a precocious little girl, and Thomas's brother's ugly pretentious hairless cat, Alice begins to see the softer side of the stoic, grumpy man for whom she is falling.  After all, Thomas pays attention to only those he cares about.

Thomas and Alice are the quintessential opposites attract scenario. Alice comes from the foster care system. Tough, driven, and fearing abandonment.  Thomas comes from wealth and people fear and despise him. Sadly, Thomas has lacked affection from a slimy father now in prison and a mother and brother who he is mending fences with. Alice loves Mary like she is her own and it is such a treat to see Thomas drop his guard to let them both in. He takes everything in stride from a dildo to his face, to a demon cat giving him the mean side-eye. And the best of all is the small precious gifts he gives Alice and Mary because he listens and cares more than he knows. It's like watching the Grinch's heart grow three times bigger. Sigh! Plus, the chemistry is off the charts and I love Alice's take-charge attitude. The dressing room scene is memorable. ;) Of course, there is always a conflict as Thomas' bad social skills and Alice's tragic past get in the way only to be redeemed in a sweet and funny grand gesture that made me feel everything all at once.

The supporting characters in this series are on point! Thomas' brother, Chase (who you can meet in book 1) is flirty and absolutely hilarious with his "dude" and "T-money" nicknames for his brother, his love for his cat, Mike Hunt (renamed Prince Michael by Mary), and his extravagant Elvis wedding with Bell. Thomas' mother, Emily, is a blessing for them all as she takes Alice and Mary under her wing and works to repair her relationship with her eldest son. And Mary is the icing on the cake with her total disregard for color choices and her way of wheedling herself into Thomas' slowly melting heart.

I highly recommend this delightful grumpy/sunshine rom-com that will pull at your heartstrings and tickle your funny bone.

Thank you to Ms. Hudson for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

Rating - ⭐⭐
Spice - 🌶.5

Trope - billionaire romance, age gap, grumpy × sunshine, fake relationship, forbidden, boss × employee, romcom, Vegas "wedding", single guardian, HEA

Bonus chapter -1

As soon as I started this book I grew skeptical about my choice. I was looking for a quick good read, rather I got stuck in a boring monotonous book.

The spice was good and not at all descriptive. The plot was good but not well executed. The most hilarious scenes in the book included a dildo, and I had a good laugh during them, the rest were fine. I don't think it justified the whole romcom genre.

Not all drunken Vegas marriage books are good; unfortunately, this was one of them. I didn't like how Thomas talked to Alice even though he was attracted to her and was equally responsible for the drunk "wedding". The author stole me from my favorite "knight in shining armor" moment. I eagerly waited for Thomas to appear and be all "my wife" and protect her with the "plan" when she was in trouble. Rather I got something out of place and I must say it was a BUMMER.

Thomas was too grumpy and frustrated for my liking, and honestly, I couldn't blame him, because it was on my nerves too. There was too much happening in a short time.

"Doesn't Alice look lovely in this dress?"
"No" Okay grumpy, shut up.!!
This was him at almost 60% of the book and Istg I still couldn't grasp the thought of him. He was too rude and didn't know how to express his emotions and acted like a dick for the majority of the book. He didn't know how to talk to Mary,(the sweetest character) a child, and Istg that was the last stone for me. I knew at 57% of the book that if his attitude didn't change, it was gonna be the main reason behind the low rating of the book.

Mary stole the show. I loved how she showed Thomas her cute and loving side and provided him with those innocent moments that later meant so much to them. She added colors to his life, both literally and figuratively.

Alice was smart, shy, and lovely, I loved how she showed Thomas his place and was stronger than she was initially portrayed. She was way more forthcoming than I anticipated and surprisingly it was one of the only things that had me hooked.

The book took a 180 turn (Thomas more so over than anyone -personality-wise). Even though I understood his defense mechanism and actions, I wish the author made this revelation sooner because, by the time it unfolded, it was a little too late to have a change of heart.

WTF was with the third-act breakup and whole marriage fiasco truth? Liz's "plan" wasn't funny and it just made her look childish. All this was not required, and honestly, it worsened the reading experience (which was barely good).

The groveling was cliche and even though it seemed heart-touching it felt off. Alice ruined his "speech and groveling" by making it too easy.

This book was way too disappointing. We seriously got nothing throughout the book, and had it all in one last chapter before the epilogue and it was of no use.

This wasn't for me, too boring.
Won't recommend it.
Overall 2/5, I wish it was better.

Anyone But the Boss is the second book in the Anyone But You series by Sara Hudson- and I have been waiting for what feels like FOREVER for this one.

I absolutely LOVED Chase and Bell in Anyone But the Billionaire and was so excited at the little hints at the next book being about Thomas and Alice. Their story has so much push and pull to it, had me laughing one moment then hitting me in the feels the next. These two don't seem like they should work- and it took a while to get there but they felt right together. While there is a little bit of an age gap it's really their upbringing that makes them so different. Thomas obviously coming from the wealthy and well known Moore family- he has never wanted for anything, except love and affection from his family. Meanwhile, Alice was a foster kid that never found her way out and still lived with the frugal, waiting for the other shoe to drop mentality.

There is something so satisfying about a fake relationship/marriage romance especially when it's also tied in with a bit of an enemies to lovers feel. Alice and Thomas just completely clash when they're at work as well as when they are forced together in social settings with Thomas' brother Chase marrying Bell who is Alice's best friend. Sara of course infused this story with so much humor- I mean come on, the TSA moment with Mike Hunt and the suitcase of rainbow dildos and all that followed in creating the bachelorette party had me cackling. But the tender and sweet moments as Thomas and Alice play house as Alice works on taking care of her "niece" Mary just melted my heart a bit. I instantly loved Alice's relationship with Mary- how she adored her and looked out for her and her mom as the only family she had- but how maternal and protective she was with Mary both made me happy for how far she had come and sad for the life that Alice had led to that point. Mary was absolutely adorable and it was really her presence that kick started Thomas' transformation from kind of cold and unfeeling to the guy that his employees would smile at and could see himself in a real relationship with Alice and having a family together that included Mary.

I admittedly struggled with Thomas' personality a bit in this book- and of course as he let down his wall, bit by bit, I came to adore him and his acts of caring since he didn't know how to really outwardly show affection. He at times came off as being stuck up and caring too much about how the public was going to perceive his family or their "brand" which rubbed me a bit wrong as I was reading it- but now that I've stepped back and really think about it- all that was really him again just not really knowing how to really show affection. Like I could not get over how he was so obsessed with all the details of Chase and Bell's wedding- a Vegas wedding performed by Elvis was PERFECT for them- but now I can look back on those interactions and see that it was his way of showing his brother and new sister in law how much he cared about them and wanted their happiness. And the way he went all out for that grand gesture... FREAKING SWOON!

Now, I just need to know what is going on with the semi-missing Moore sibling, Liz!

This is not my first time, being a fan of Sara L. Hudson since Space Junk, an incredible book by the way. And every book I read of her is better, more fun, hilarious and with characters that make you suffer until you reach that good ending
.
This is the second book in the series about the Moore family, a wealthy family established in New York with a historic department store
.
Thomas is the oldest of the brothers, the most serious and most detail-oriented. Busy keeping each member of the family safe from scandals and working non-stop, he is a role model or was until his younger brother decides to marry in Las Vegas with an Elvis impersonator as a minister and his family decides to carry every strange idea that goes through their heads
.
And after that, he wakes up on the wedding day with a ring on his finger and Alice Truman with a matching ring at his side
.
Alice can't believe that after a few drinks at the bachelorette party she has decided to cross the line with her boss Thomas Moore, who she is sure either hates her or does his best to tolerate her
.
They both hope to resolve the situation as soon as possible and without anyone finding out, but when Alice receives an unexpected call and needs someone to lean on, Thomas is the right person even if she has to do something so out of character and blackmail him to remain her husband for a while
.
Trying to keep it a secret is tough with a company full of noisy employees and a nosy family like the Moores, especially when you add a creepy cat and a little girl into the mix with the strange and fun scenes that lead to the steamy parts and more romantic moments
.
This is a millionaire romance, Enemies to lovers with a perfect Mr. Darcy and a perfect Lizy, a single parent situation , with a witty family, unpredictable cat and nosy coworkers
.
if I'm to read a book by Sara L Hudson, I'm going to laugh constantly and try to imagine those strange scenes when everything goes wrong and the room ends up in a fire and although everyone comes out unscathed and one believes that nothing else could surpass it, until the next chapter arrives
.

Thanks to Sara L Hudson and Bolwood Books by give me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest and voluntary opinion

First thought: This book is a prime example of everything I love about romance novels, it had all my favorite tropes. It hit every want, need and desire and left me wishing it wouldn’t end. A must read for sure!

Alice is a sweet hard worker who was recently promoted to the marketing team, she works hard to prove she belongs. What makes her job hard is her Boss Thomas, he’s arrogant, grumpy and thinks she doesn’t belong there. Alice plays the game of avoidance as much as she can with him and it’s allowing her to survive.

Thomas is a serious, rule with an iron fist, no fun guy. He is the head of a prestigious NYC family and after his father was thrown in prison last year he has a lot to prove. He has no time for nonsense and he has everything he could need. Control is what makes him happy and he can’t seem to keep it with his employee Alice and it’s driving him crazy. So keeping her at arms distance, being dismissive and avoiding her is the plan.

Fate has other plans for these two. They are thrown into the deep end after a wild night in Vegas celebrating Thomas’s brother’s wedding and waking up naked in each other arms with wedding bands! Then they rushing back to NYC to meet with the lawyer to figure it out but never make it. Alice gets a call from the hospital that her niece was injured and was abandoned by her mom. Alice has to go against everything in her to ask him to fake their marriage so she can get temp custody of her niece so she doesn’t end up in the system. From there thing get messier, lines get blurred, feelings get hurt, lust/temptation, and complications set in.

This is a dual POV must read if you like any or all of the tropes below. Plus there is an animal sidekick you’ll either love or hate! Top it off with an instant family of characters you’ll love and you won’t want to put this one down!

Tropes you’ll find:

* Grumpy/Sunshine
* Fake Relationship
* Office Romance
* Forced Proximity
* Mild Spice

Blurb:
In the new, sexy and hilarious novel from bestselling author Sara L. Hudson, find out what happens when a grumpy billionaire, a perpetually friendly marketing exec and a hairless cat with a catnip addiction spend a night in Vegas... (A black-eye for starters.)

Thomas Moore, heir to the glamorous New York department store Moore’s, has everything. Everything but a sense of humor. Probably why he's so often compared to his philandering crook of a father.

Alice Truman, recently promoted from the sales floor, is determined to prove her worth. Even if that means smiling in the face of the arrogant and too-sexy-for-his-own-good Thomas Moore, who seems to think her unfit for her new position.

Avoidance works wonders until Alice's best friend plans an Elvis-themed destination wedding with Thomas’ brother—a concept the modern Mr. Darcy loathes.

Throw in a hairless cat, a calamitous bachelorette party and some questionable cocktails, and things become… complicated. And when things get complicated, anyone but the boss would be better.

Review: I loved this book! Just like the first in the series this book has everything you want in a sexy rom com. I loved the characters, the humour, and wittiness of the writing. So much fun. I am also a suckern for a grumpy/sunshine trope. Sara L Hudson knows how to keep the reader engaged and saddened when it ends. I will definitely be looking forward to reading Liz’s story. So thankful for the opportunity to read this ARC thanks to the author and KJ Author Services for my honest review.

I loved the first book in this series and was dying to get my hands on the 2nd one. And man, I was not disappointed!

I love a book that has a mix of humor and those pesky things called emotions. Alice and Thomas head off to Vegas for the wedding of Chase and Bell, and that's when things go off the rails. There's a bachlorette party set up that ends in a black eye, a hotel being evacuated, and oh, two complete opposites waking up and finding out their married. What else could happen right? What about Alice finding out she needs to take custody of her foster sister's daughter because she left her at a hospital?

When Mary comes into the picture, we really start to see Thomas melt a little, as much as a man like Thomas can. He's torn between helping out Alice and Mary, but not wanting others to see him like they saw his father. Thomas has the weight of the world on his shoulders. and he's drowning in false expectations.

Watching Alice and Thomas find their way was a real treat. The supporting cast was *chef kiss* as well. Chase was up to his normal high jinks of being the annoying younger brother, Emily Moore (mother) was like a real life fairy Godmother, and then there's Mike Hunt. The way this cat steals scenes, he should be in kitty jail! And Mary was handled really well and was an adorable little girl. Kids and animals can be hit or miss in books, but they were both home runs in this story.

The spice and flow of the story were fantastic too. I thought the pacing was solid, didn't come across too many errors or issues that I can remember. You don't have to read the previous book to understand this one, but I do recommend it. It just makes for a better all around experience in my opinion.

Tropes include:
Dual POV
Grumpy/Sunshine
Workplace Romance
Found Family
Forced Proximity

My first read from Sara L. Hudson and what a joy! I received this as an ARC review and am so grateful!

I loved the grumpy x sunshine here, it was so fun! Thomas is a grumpy boss who is trying to keep control of every aspect of his life. He does not want to be like his father, who is recently incarcerated for being an awful human being. He’s secretly smitten with his coworker Alice but won’t let anyone know. Unfortunately for him everyone around him can see how he watches her.

Alice is an innocent employee who tries to avoid her grumpy boss at all costs because she thinks he hates her. She’s got her own past traumas she deals with but has come out on top despite her struggles.

These two are stuck spending more time together at Thomas’ brother’s wedding in Vegas. Unfortunately for them, not everything stays in Vegas. Or fortunately it doesn’t.

I loved the banter in this book. All the characters were so funny, even Thomas! All the hotel scenes had me cracking up!! Sara made Thomas the mean boss no one would want to be around, but at the same time, he was a great person who would do anything for those around him. Deep down he cared, he was just afraid to show it out of fear of losing control. When he and Alice are together he’s his best version and learns to let people in.

This was such a fun, sweet story and I loved every minute of it. I will definitely be checking out more of her books now.

4.75 stars! Sara L Hudson certainly knows how to write laugh out loud scenes, and I’m not a person who generally has that response to the written word, but this book delivers from the first chapter.
Alice & Thomas are wonderful foils for each other, and the other family members - plus a hairless cat with a filthy-sounding name! - add to the chaos and charm. There’s a love story amidst the mayhem, and some sexy bits. I read this prior to book one, and while it’s not necessary to read Anyone But The Billionaire first, it does shed some light on Alice & Thomas’s will they-won’t they past interactions.
There are a significant number of typos throughout, however, things like the use of “costumer” instead of customer, and at one point the attorney hands Alice his card, and it’s stated, “asked him to call me” which is exactly the opposite, also Mary calls Alice “Aunt Mary”, obviously a writing error, etc., but for which this would have been a 5-star rating.
I received an advance reader copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

What would you do if you woke up in Vegas in bed next to your boss… and you both now had a ring on a certain finger? Well, after your freakout, you'd probably start searching for annulments, right? That's the situation between Thomas and Alice until life throws Alice a curveball. Throw in a hairless cat who's almost as grumpy as its uncle, a sister who has been MIA, and you have yourself a party.

I loved the relationship Emily and Mary developed. Thomas had a ton of growth which was nice to see. He went from super grumpy to having a heart by the end. The side characters were also great. Even though we didn't see a ton of them, I still felt like the story was complete. There's also a 12 year age gap here between Thomas and Alice, but you could hardly tell, so if age gap isn't your thing, don't let that deter you from this book.

THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU IF: You are looking for a fun and cute read, light on spice, and heavy on the grumpy boss.

Having seen glimpses of Thomas - the eldest Moore sibling - in Chase’s story, I knew the brothers couldn’t be more different. Still, I wasn’t prepared how much Thomas’ still water personality would run the vibe of this book. It wasn’t written as a standalone, but it ventured out in a different direction and I’m not too sure how I feel about that.

The first installment being super charming and funny as hell, I really hoped for a similar experience with this one. But true to the characters - Thomas is not the charming one. He’s strict and serious. And so was his story. Even with the heavy feature of Mike, the hairless feline hero, this book was heavier both in plot, themes, and circumstances.

It took a while to warm up to Thomas (and perhaps I never really did), but I adored Alice’ niece Mary instantly - and Thomas’ mum 🙌🏼. They were fun characters, worth the read.
