Twins with Daddy's Bestie

Rate this book
Daddy would die if he knew his best friend took my v-card.

Drake Vance is obscenely hot, ridiculously rich, and completely off-limits.
With tailored suits and a face that belongs on a magazine cover.

He’s also my dad’s best friend and twice my age.

As a favor, he hires me to be the chef at his new tech firm.

One night. One mistake. And I gave him my v-card.
That’s all it was supposed to be.

But then he’s in my kitchen, tasting my cooking like he owns the place.
Driving me home, hand on my thigh like it belongs there.
Looking at me like he’s already decided—I’m his.

I should walk away before I get hurt.
But my heart is telling me that I’m all his.

All hell will break loose if I tell my dad I’m falling for his best friend.

But now, I have no choice because I’m pregnant with his twins.

If you love age-gap romances and pregnancy tropes, you'll love this book! It's perfect for a relaxing afternoon. You'll love Olivia and Drake's story.

This book was such a sweet and comforting read! It's a short story, but it's guaranteed to be packed with heart. It's about two people you wouldn't expect to fall in love, but they do! Their story grabbed my attention right away!

It has all the tropes I love:
- Age-gap
- Secret romance
- Dad's best friend
- And of course, a happy ending!

Clara Dunn writes amazing characters. Olivia and Drake had great chemistry. You could really feel the passion between them. They both grew as people throughout the story.

My experience while reading this book?
Honestly, this should be a 2 to 3 hour read. But since it's short and I didn't want to finish it too quickly, I spread it out over two days. Yes, two straight days! I was totally savoring it! I was trying to keep myself hyped, having that overwhelming curiosity and staying intrigued. And no joke, this trope is honestly my weakness so I was dying to know what happened! And the more I read each chapter, things got even MORE interesting when they gave in to their feelings. Mmm, yes! There was some real heat too! It wasn't over the top. But... it definitely got my attention!

I'm not going to spill all the tea. You have to experience this one for yourself, readers. Trust me, if you're like me and you're obsessed with this kind of story, you're going to love it. This book will be your new best friend. Don't even hesitate, just grab a copy. You won't regret it... I promise.

NOTE: I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is my personal opinion about the book. My goal is to share my experience, not to change anyone's perspective.

Olivia spent four years in culinary school and is now making her muffins only to have them burn. She needs them to take to a meeting to have a chance at opening her own business. She headed to he neighbor to ask to use her oven only to have the door open with a man in a towel. When he calls out to the woman who lives in the apartment Rita goes a tad ballistic. She tells Olivia to go ahead and use her oven while kicking the man out in only his towel.
Drak had a most uncomfortable time after being kicked out or Rita's home the day before. Now there are pics and headlikes about Playboy Drak streaking. AS he apolgizes again to his PR people he's thinking of the baker he met yesterday. Could he call Rita to get the baker's name...jury's out on that idea. He started his company with a goal and it seems that he achieved it. He has employees and he's going to interview a baker today to cook for them. A private chef. His father shows up to discuss investing in his business but tells him not now. He read the headlines and until he quits acting immature he will wait to invest. Now Drak is blaming the little baker he saw. When he's told his appointment is here and she walks in......
Olivia can't believe her luck. She figures she won't be given the job especially after his comments about her interference. But when he bites into her muffin he is willing to give her a try. He hires her mainly because her father, his best friend, Leonard, would be upset. She's his only child and has MMA training and could use those against him. Then into his life walks back an ex. As she is trying to set up a dinner to "discuss" new business ideas, his dad walks in.His dad reminds Drak about the dinner with possibly future investors. YIKES! He forgot. He bribes Olivia into doing the dinner by offering her money below the table. The night of the dinner everyone there are amazed by the dishes she serves. After they leave he hits on her and when he realizes she's still innocent, he needs to have her.
The next day they agree it was a mistake and can't happen again. For Olivia she doesn't know how to stay quiet about it if her dad finds out. Olivia warns Drak that she will have to tell her dad sometime because she doesn't keep things from him. The two of them fight whatever this is between them. Drak only knows he wants Olivia more than any other woman. Then Olivia's dad comes to visit and they enjoy time together. Drak is feeling a tad guilty. Meanwhile Olivia goes out with friends only to get ill. When one of her friends makes a comment she looks at her friend Callie and they head to a drugstore.
Two lines.....two....lines...TWO LINES!!!!! How is she going to be able to tell Drak or her dad!!?
Does Olivia reconcile her father and Drak? Or does Drak go bonkers learning about the babies? Can he actually settle down with one woman?
A beautiful story.

TWINS FOR DADDY’S BESTIE by Clara Dunn is an age gap, surprise pregnancy story told in alternating chapters by Olivia and Drake. They take a lot of steps back and only one forward over and over again.

He doesn’t do relationships just one night stands. Plus he’s her boss and her father’s best friend. She has dreams of owning her own restaurant someday. But can they be together and fulfill both of their dreams? There’s lots of steamy moments along with family, friends, baking, cooking and job responsibilities. The story has a good flow as they both try to figure out how to make things work between them and if they can be better together.

The story has multiple stories being told that fit together nicely. There’s a lot of risks taken that took me out of my comfort zone. There is some closure and a happily ever after but the story ended abruptly and without the details I was expecting. Then the epilogue which takes place two years later appeared after the author’s notes and gave better closure but I would have liked to know some of the storylines that took place during those years.

Falling for Dad’s Best Friend

Olivia has graduated as a professional chef & is dreaming of having her own business. Her dad speaks to Drake, his best friend since they were in school together, to hire her. Drake grudgingly hires her only to realize she has great culinary skills. She continues to surprise him with her creations & he obligingly tries everything out even though he’s a very picky eater. As they develop a stronger attraction, staying apart has to be the answer as the fall-out with her dad & Drake losing his best friend would tear apart their close bonds. The turmoil continues & with her big news, the timing couldn’t have come at the worst time. Only Drake has the key to decide on whether he wants to settle down with Olivia in his life or let her go. Will Olivia’s dad forgive Drake & accept him back? Lots of decisions for these characters to decide on which paths their lives will follow.

This book surprised me.
The usual tropes:
Age gap
Dad’s best friend
Surprise pregnancy (multiples of course!)
Fierce best friend
She falls first, he falls harder

But then, we deal with the aftermath of a problem childhood (neglectful parents), and to be honest, the inner monologues around this were heartbreaking.

It had the requisite humour (best friend! 🙌), and boy did she make me laugh. I want a bff just like her!

This was a relatively short novel, but it didn’t feel like it. The story was fairly in depth and the author did a good job building up to the (gasp!) pregnancy and argument.
After that, it was mostly smooth sailing and a gorgeous little HEA.

A sweet-ish read, and worth a look into other books by this author.

This short story is exactly how I imagined it would be when Clara first told me about the book. It is heartwarming, sweet and very angsty. If you love a good age-gap and forbidden love, this book is very good!
I was giggling and widening my eyes constantly while reading, and a laugh here and there just made it perfect.
Olivia and Drake's growth throughout the book is so good, and it shows just how hearts can be together if you have it in the right placec. These two do, and I really adore them.
Drake is blown away by Olivia's fresh and sweet smile. This book is a guaranteed HEA, but it doesn't stop your heart from beating fast a few times from worry.
It's definitely worth the read!

This heartwarming story captures your attention and keeps you glued to it. Drake and Olivia meet when she heads to her neighbor to use her oven. Drake opens the door wrapped in a towel and from there things spiral when he gets in an argument with Olivia's neighbor which has Drake leaving with nothing, but the towel wrapped around him. They meet again when she goes to interview for a job at his company and he takes a chance of Olivia as a favor to her father. Things heat up between them and soon Olivia has more than muffins in the oven. Will their relationship be the end of best friends.

Let Down

I've read other books by Clara Dunn and loved them, but this one was kind of a letdown. I felt like there was so much focus on the storyline that the connection between Olivia and Drake didn't have a chance to build. I couldn't get into their relationship like I normally can when reading. There were also a few details throughout that were inconsistent. For instance, the shellfish allergy, Drake never mentioned an allergy to his CHEF and even ate scallops at a catered dinner but then had an anaphylactic reaction to shrimp.
Now, I did think this book is loaded with potential, which is why I bumped this up to 4 stars.

Olivia and Drake meet at the neighborhood gathering. It was a steamy page turner and the suspense was so intense. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn't even put it down. This romance was forbidden and how would her father reacted in this moment. They couldn't even fight the temptation any longer as they give into their emotions and desire of this one night stand that will lead her into having his babies in this moment and time. It was sweet and romance of passion .
I highly recommend this book and you won't be disappointed. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review. Trina Jones

OLIVIA is a young V, new culinary school grad. only child. raised by her father after her mother passed. DRAKE is a much older CEO, very friendly with the women, has never been in a relationship and her father's best friend ...

She interviews to be the chef at his company and after an embarrassing moment a few nights ago awkward is the only word to describe it .
He hires her to cater an event at his home , one thing leads to another which leads to a stick with 2 pink lines on it and 2 heartbeats on the ultrasound

Warm fuzzy HEA
This story is well-written with descriptive language. The characters are well developed, funny, and engaging. I enjoyed how their back stories are alluded to rather than dwelling on any angst. It is reassuring that with support the MMC is able to overcome his deep-seated fears that had been holding him back. The care & devotion that builds between the MCs is a delight to witness. Warm fuzzy HEA is icing on the cake.

Great love story between Olivia and Drake. Olivia is fresh out of culinary school, and her dad helps land her first job. He gets her an interview with his best friend Drake, who is a playboy and has dated models and movie stars. Drake falls for Olivia because he feels a connection between them that is more than sex. Will her dad kill them, or will he accept that they are going to be parents of twins?

This is a really fun easy read. Not a whole lot of drama. There is some family issues and work relationship issues, but nothing really super heavy. Some pretty good spice, I would say 2.5 chilly peppers.
I would say the main theme that popped out to me was hope. Yes, it was a super happy ending, however neither of the main characters saw their futures to be what they ended up to be, but it ended up being better than they ever could have hoped for, of course.

This was a short but sweet read! I really enjoyed the climax and the tenderness woven into the story. Olivia is a bright young woman with a passion for food, while Drake, a lifelong bachelor, never saw himself settling down—until her. It’s a cute, heartwarming story with just the right amount of spice!

This is the first book I have read by Clara Dunn and I have to say I will be reading more. I loved how Olivia and Drake met and even more how their dynamics changed gracefully throughout the story. The relationships that get tested when everything happens just shows how much the two of them are meant to be together.

This was such a great read. I couldn’t put it down. Olivia and Leonard is such a great match. Fighting the intense chemistry that’s between them. Plus having to deal with her father and his best friend once he finds out. I teared up and was cheering for them. This is definitely one I’d read again and highly recommend.

An innocent one night stand fueled by tension leads to the unexpected for Olivia. Who would’ve thought she’d get pregnant, on her first time at that, with her dad’s best friend. Drake never wanted to settle down but Olivia was unlike any other woman he’s been with.

This book was so cute. I’m just sad how quick she forgave him. It left a bad taste in my mouth. If there even would have been a tiny bit of fight in her that would have saved it.
