Not knowing the author but being fond of short stories, I dove into this collection with a smile on my face, only to come out of it… disappointed.
The style, first of all, feels—let’s say—dated.
The plots, or rather the ideas, sometimes—often—prove so repetitive that one finds micro–short stories embedded within a story that becomes a theme, but in my view they are poorly developed, as the twists are all too predictable.
A few stand out from the rest, but they dissolve in the reader’s memory, which, due to the accumulation of identical themes (as mentioned), struggles to retain them.
Disappointing, then.
But perhaps I’ve already said that?
