Imagine being a teenager in love. Next, imagine finding out that the love of your life has cheated on you. Thank goodness the ex-love of your life has to move away due to a parental job transfer. What would you do if you ever had to see him again? Could you ever talk to him again? Would it be possible to perhaps fall in love with his brother? Emotions always run high when teens fall so easily and out of love, which is what "Unfamiliar Faces" is all about. Join Beth, Alicia, Taylor and Nathan to learn all about their stories of heartbreak and happiness.
Noell Mosco is a 30-something-year-old who lives in Southwestern Pennsylvania, born and raised. A country girl at heart, she currently resides in Suburbia. Writing has been one of Noell's passions since she was young, completing her first "book" at eleven. Since then, she's always dreamed of becoming a best-selling author. Her full-time job as a physical therapist means she is compassionate, and it allows her to follow-up with her close-2nd biggest passion - traveling the world. Noell reluctantly admits to having a love of wine, though her poison of choice is generally tequila.
Noell did a great job portraying the emotions that teenagers feel when falling in love. How many times did you think you found the one, only to be let down by the weeks even days later. Unfamiliar Faces brought me back to high school and I found myself siding with Beth and even Taylor at times. It's hard to lose your first love, but even harder to see them moving on to someone(s) else. The characters were real and each one had a story. I loved the alternating POV's and the flashbacks to earlier times.
This was a great first book and I would recommend it.
For a debut novel, this was a very good book. I'm not usually into YA novels, but I think that Noell did a fantastic job capturing the feelings and actions of teenagers. I also liked that this novel was nowhere close to being predictable. I really had no clue where she was going most of the time, which was a refreshing change. I recommend Unfamiliar Faces if you are looking for a romantic read with angst and young love.
This was a good story but finished too soon with a lot of loose ends. I feel like more could have been elaborated on, like Nathan and their relationship, what about Kelsey and her child? What about Beth’s ballet career?
I won a copy of this book during a promotional event hosted by a book blog. I promised to read it and write a review.
I am so very excited to express my love for discovering this new author. This book is very New Adult in genre and felt a bit juvenile at times, but I believe that was the whole point. The main characters are growing throughout the book, learning about themselves and developing relationships between friends and romantic interests.
Beth (main character) gets her heart broken when she accidentally walks in on her boyfriend, Taylor, with another girl, which is super devastating because they're in the middle of a long-distance relationship. At least it's easy to forget about her cheating ex because they're in two different states. Fast-forward a year and her dad gets a job transfer and she is, surprise surprise, in the same town as her ex. Oh yeah, did I mention that she is basically best friends with his brother, Nathan???
Deeper friendships are formed between Beth and Nathan, which evolves into a budding romance. Through the limitless boundaries of the internet, Beth stumbles across Taylor's secret online blog, which he makes personal confessions about his and her past relationship, making her seriously question her current hatred toward him.
A love triangle at it's best, how will Beth ever decide between the two loves of her life? Especially since they're brothers?
College begins and once again, lives are intermixed with one another. It's definitely a dramatic teenage hormonal rollercoaster ride. I was reminded of how everything is the most important-thing-ever when you're 17 years old.
Noell Mosco does a great job of bringing back memories of high school, first loves, drama, cliques, and heartbreak. This book is a stand alone novel and features a HEA. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a relatively easy read. I look forward to more from Noell in the future!
