After hearing a news story that said the DASH diet was one of the healthiest long term diets to follow, I went looking for more information on the key plans of this diet lifestyle. This book was free, so I downloaded it for a look.

This book describes the diet plan in a pretty simplistic way. It might be a good introduction, but honestly, I don't know how faithfully it follows the 'true' DASH diet plan. This books says that the following items should be avoided because they contain caffeine: coffee, tea, chocolate. Nope, not giving up my coffee, tea, or chocolate.

But then I look up the National Institutes of Health (NIH) DASH diet plan on line, and find that caffeine consumption is apparently not addressed in this diet plan.

So I'm not sure what else this book has wrong either.

I've found that the NIH has their own book detailing the DASH plan available for free download online, called Your Guide to Lowering Your Blood Pressure with Dash Eating Plan. I think I will check out this official book, and see what the diet actually is about.
