I couldn't put it down! Aurora and Jim stole my heart. I really liked the plotline and even though I found a bit forced the introduction of a certain character overall it's great. I'm very looking forward to seeing how the movie will finally be like with all the special effects and all.
I like this movie a great deal. It's a beautifully told and well acted emotional story of deep love and angry revulsion born of hard circumstances, of considered choices and decisions that last beyond a lifetime and the utterly overwhelming power of loneliness over the human mind. The pacing is perfect, given the story PASSENGERS seeks to tell and the ultimate resolution makes sense when viewed from the emotional realities that each character experiences.
Earth and the spaceship are metaphorical analogs, though the futuristic underpinnings of the story assumes the most optimistic outcome in the relationship between humanity and intelligent machines, something which even now is showing signs of strain and pessimism on present-day Earth. Visually the film is beautiful and imaginative, creating a believable and luxurious isolation even as the ship balances narrowly between high-tech prison and utopian palace.
Read this book. As you develop a personal connection with Aurora you will have to develop your own human character to encompass understanding the impossible position Jim finds himself in. A true story of love.
Great for people to learn to appreciate other's position and even if we are critical of motivation learn not to judge their decision even if we benefit from being accountable.
Yes, it's wrong, people do wrong things, but I can't deny I liked it. Now I wonder how it translated into movie since I've heard some bad things about it.
