Sometimes, the road to happily ever after takes you where you least expect it.

Skye was only interested in finally losing his virginity, but he might have found much more than that. Two guys both feel so right to the twenty-one-year old art student, but maybe that means they cancel each other out. After all, if either was the one, Skye wouldn’t have feelings for both of them. Would he?

But what if he really did just meet the love of his life?

Note: This male/male erotic romance includes explicit language and graphic sex. For adult readers only!

Though this is the 6th book in the series, it may also be read as a stand-alone.

4--Outrageous--Stars!!

If I could describe this book in one word it would be:

CORNY

But cute and funny corny, not annoying corny. Maybe it was a bit OTT but I must say I was really entertained throughout the whole book. And it had some good steam, which is always a plus!

Skye...

Never in my life have I encountered a character that was so clumsy and chaotic but at the same time so carefree and fun. This book was just one mishap after another.

Here are just a few of the things you will encounter while reading this book:

The Royal Rodent
Draco the Cat
Big Fucking Cock (don't ask)
A Dirty Dancing Reinactment
A Titanic One-liner
Go-Go Dancing
Dumpster Diving
Smurfette

And last but certainly not least we have Nana, who is in a catagory of her own.

"I did a bit of reading up on gay homosexual lovemaking, because to be honest, when I first found out my grandson Dante was a gay homosexual, I kind of needed a plumbing diagram, you know what I’m saying? But I get it now, I found out how it all fits together. I also get that, in order for it to work, you need one eight ball and one corner pocket. Is that the problem, you’re both eight balls? Or both corner pockets? I don’t want to make assumptions about which way you like your toast buttered."

So come along on Skye's journey to lose his virginity. Meet his friends and family. Laugh at all of his crazy antics and watch him fall in love.

I've only two three things to say.

1. Nana is my hero.

2. I have a new favorite word.

3. I suddenly have a taste for a Big Fucking Cock.

You know what I like? Cops. I love cops - if a character has a badge and a gun, I have an awfully hard time disliking him. Which is odd, since in real life cops just make me nervous. I'm afraid I'll start confessing to burglaries or something. I worry that I've developed a split personality and she's a 12 year old serial killer. And no, I have no idea what the fuck's going on with me.

You know what else I like? Sex workers. Porn stars, rent boys, um, "companions." If they're a variation on the hooker with a heart of gold theme then I am all over that shit. Oooh...and if they could be recently beaten by a john that would be awesome, thanks. Then they can be both physically and emotionally healed by the powers of luurve.

You know what’s been making me nuts? With all the love I have for cops and rent boys, I swear to god if Alexa Land used one more of them as a protagonist I was gonna...well, I was gonna do absolutely nothing cause I'm too addicted to this series to stop buying the books. But I would be seriously annoyed. Also, mobsters. I don't read a ton of mobster books but if there was one more gay mobster storyline in this series I was prepared to shit myself. That's right, Rosa, really is really annoyed. QUAKE IN FEAR, Ms. Land.

So it bathes me in relief to say that Skye Blue and his love interest are in no way related to mobsters or cops and neither of them are selling their ass on a corner somewhere.

description

Probably sounds like I'm not fond of this series, huh? Wrong! So wrong! I squee whenever I discover another book is coming out. I buy that book within 24 hours of its appearance on Amazon. To me these books are incredibly silly, but they’re also fun little fluff nuggets and I truly enjoy them. They’re a vacation for my brain.

Skye Blue, the protagonist the book is named after, is an easy guy to love. He’s kooky, adorable and lonely. He’s lookin’ for love and finds two possible suitors. Unfortunately, I can’t say much more than that since the blurb says so very little. However, allow me to assure you that the romance is as adorable as Sky Blue himself. You’ll probably recognize Mr. True-Love-Take-Me-Now-Baby the minute he walks on page. I love that he's as vulnerable as Skye. And, oh yes, never fear, Nana is back, baby, and as funny as ever. Also, also! Virgin alert, people. VIRGIN. ALERT.

If you enjoyed the first five books in the Firsts and Forever series you’re going to like this one. If you’ve never read a book in this series, I don’t think it’s necessary to start at the beginning. You are missing some background, but it’s not really important and it's not going to ruin your enjoyment any.

And, oh yes, you know all that stuff I said about being tired of cops in this series? Ok, yeah, let’s ignore that briefly. Ms. Land, if you could please, please, SUPER PRETTY PLEASE make the next book about Skye’s mysterious BFF Christian and a certain cop I would be so, so grateful. SERIOUSLY FULL OF GRATEFULLNESS. Thank you for listening. (Or reading. Whatever.)

3.5 stars.

Entertaining!

I liked the premise and the character chemistry. A couple of minor complaints with the plot, but the additional characters and the earnestness of the writing kept me going. And Nana is just a treat.

Also - *ahem* VIRGIN ALERT! Plus - there's pole dancing!!

Pole Dancer

If you've enjoyed any of the other books in the Firsts and Forever series I don't think you'll be disappointed with this installment, but, if you're like me, and haven't read any of others in the series, don't worry! This can absolutely be read as a standalone. I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything - but it does make me want to pick up the others so I can immerse myself in the world Alexa Land has created.

I really enjoyed this, I enjoyed the characters, the humor, and the flow. Recommended!

This was another fun addition in the First and Forever series.

Skye and his man turn out to be another wonderful couple and, of course, Nana and a number of favorite characters from previous books are along to help out. As with all the books in the series there is craziness, sadness and lots of love in all it's forms.

If you haven't read any of the prior books what are you waiting for? You can still read this as a standalone, but I would suggest at least reading Salvation for more background on Skye and the secondary characters.

OMG, this book was hilarious! I had so much fun reading this.

”I’m going to say yes to the very next guy that propositions me. I could easily end up saying yes to a scary fifty-year-old with super creepy little girl hands.”
“Ew! What, like in his pocket?” Christian exclaimed.
“No, not in his pocket!” I gave Christian a look that said oh-my-God-gross.
“I just meant that the guy could have nasty, tiny, little effeminate hands at the end of his arms, and I’d still say yes to sleeping with him. You’re really twisted, Christian, to think I meant he was carrying severed girl hands around with him!”

Skye is kind of irresponsible. He has dyed his hair blue and always gets himself in trouble. When he brings home another piece of junk from the dumpster to use in one of his sculptures, his brother River has enough. River is moving out of their apartment since there is so much junk in there you can’t walk.

Skye decides to hunt for a job immediately. He has no idea where to start, but he gets a tip from an online friend to try out as a go-go dancer at a gay club. This online friend is someone he just met on a dating site, but this friend only wants to talk, not meet Skye in person.

Skye tries out for the dance position and he gets hired. The only downside to this is that he has to work with an obnoxious guy, Dare. When Skye and Dare meet, it is hate at first sight. Skye cannot stand him, even though he does find Dare kind of hot.

While Skye tries to get his life in order, he grows closer to his online friend, but unexpectedly also to Dare. When it turns out , they hit it off and are all over each other.

We get a lot of hot and heavy sex scenes when these guys finally start dating. It did feel insta-lovey, but sure, I can do insta-love. If the story is entertaining, I’m fine with it.

Of course Nana shows up, together with the rest of the family, and there might be some dumpster diving, some arrests, and some public dancing. And they might be kidnapping a dog.

It was awesome.

The limo rolled over the curb and up the steps of the Bancroft Building, then smashed its way through the glass front wall. As soon as the limo was completely inside the lobby, its parking lights came on and Nana jumped out from behind the wheel. Everyone on the sidewalk must have been with Nana too, and they immediately ran into the building, tossing jackets aside to reveal t-shirts in bright colors and arranging themselves into a big rainbow. And then the most amazing thing happened. They all started to dance to the music in perfect unison.

I really had he best time reading this one. I do have to say that it's a bit OTT and a bit sugary sweet/cheesy, but I didn't mind. I just wanted to read something light and funny with some sexy times, and that's exactly what I got. I do have to say that there are some serious topics in this book, but you only hear about them and don't get to experience them while reading. A surprise for me was the hotness of this book. I did not expect it and was very pleasantly surprised.

If you're looking for something fun and rediculous at times, but still flaming hot...you should read this one. I am not gonna say to much about the story itself, cause I don't want to spoiler.

So... I want to say who Skye ends up with in this but I like to not spoil things and since it's not mentioned in the blurb, nor have we met the person before, I'm keeping my big fat trap shut.

BUT! This was so much fun, again, this series makes me happy and when Real Life - aka the day job - is kicking you in the nards, you need to read boys that make you happy.

This one made me cry too, it had it's moments of tears but mostly it was fun and had the best dates ever!

Animals are abundant in this and the romance, it was so stupidly sweet and made me google boys with blue hair and blue clothes and ballet dancers on stripper poles.

How many times have I used the word this in this short review? I need to fix that, nah... forget it.

OOHHHH!! And there is totally Dirty Dancing references in this which make this totes amazing.

And there is a Big Fucking Cock too! And not the Big Fucking Cock on the doorstep from the hilarious post from The Bloggess...

I cannot forget Nana... Nana is the BOMB! She really is so over the top and I love the fuck out of that woman!

Moving on to the next book. Don't bother me, I'm reading.

Well color me happy. This one was just as good as the others, maybe even a little better IMO. I just loved how Skye could NOT set up a decent date no matter how hard he tried. And Dare, poor douchey-at-first Dare. What a f'd up mess he was. I got teary several times during this book. It makes me sad when people don't think they're worth anything and have been beaten down so much by life. I never did warm up much to Skye's mom, she just seemed to flaky to be any kind of reliable. I did however LOVE Nana. I just can't get enough of that crazy old lady. She makes these books for me. Now I really do need Christian's book. wtf is up with him?

This is my sixth First & Forever book and it was as fun as the others but I felt manipulated near the end for the sake of drama. Alexa Land put herself in a heavy situation and didn’t really have the chops to pull it off. Don’t get me wrong Skye’s story was entertaining but it wasn’t as well constructed as the previous installments in this series.

I'm pretty sure the first rule of reading this series is: Take Nothing Seriously. Because if you do, you'll end up with a headache and repeatedly saying "But that doesn't make any sense!" But if you are willing to just let the story take you where it will, and to forgive the pure insanity of it all, I think you will find that you enjoy the ride.

I kinda skipped to the end of this series so I haven't read the last two books yet, but as far as I can tell that didn't impede me a great deal. I do wish the author hadn't named one of the characters Christian when she already had a character named Christopher, though. That was just too damn confusing at first.

Overall it was a nice story and I enjoyed reading it. Skye was kinda adorable in that 'i don't know what i'm doing with my life but i'm going to have fun figuring it out' kinda way.

I will confess a dislike to Nana, though. It is not her fault, I just have never liked her and find her annoying. Which, ok, is probably partly her fault, but I get that other people don't react to her like she is fingernails on a chalkboard. I just think she tends to take over a story and gets more and more outrageous the longer she is around. Not saying I want her dead or anything...I just want her less. Or, you know, gone completely.

I super loved Skye's story! So this is the first story off the series that the MC isn't anywhere involved with a police or in the mafia or something in between - it was very subdued and the humor was spot on! I loved Skye and Dare although I think they're a bit too young. If you think about it, most of the characters [the twink ones if I may say] are all under 25! And they're all like getting married or getting engaged!!?! But yeah, gotta loved this series - I loved that everyone's gay and happy and getting all their HEA. Yay! and gotta loved Nana~~~~~!!!

I loved it of course. I love the whole series. I'm not going to say much because I don't want to spoil it, but I loved Skye and Dare. They were perfect for each other and I loved watching them fall in love. Nana's back, I love her! She's the best and wish I could totally meet her in person. Her heart is so big! I know they can be read as stand alones but I would read them in order so you can experience this great series.

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE

When I finished Trevor and Vincent’s story in book 5 I couldn’t wait for Skye Blue’s story. Alexa Land certainly didn’t let us down, this is a brilliant addition to the series.

Skye is 21 and desperate to lose his virginity. After a rough start to his post teenage life he is now feeling ready to experience everything and the first thing he wants to try is sex. Not even his gay best friend will help him out though and he is beginning to wonder whether it will ever happen.

Then two things happen: He gets a dancing job with the hottest man who is the biggest douche he has ever met and it is a hate on sight relationship so no chance of sex there. His girlfriend signs him up to a dating website where he meets a guy he feels like he can tell everything to, a guy that has been hurt in a previous relationship and is just looking for friendship and someone to talk to, so no sex there.

Losing his virginity is turning out to be the mother of all tasks!!!
Whilst all this is going on his brother River decides it is time for Skye to grow up and stand on his own two feet. He moves out of their shared apartment and Skye is suddenly responsible for himself for the first time in a while, in fact the first time since The Incident, and he isn’t sure how he feels about it.

Watching Skye grow up, mature and take on this responsibility is hilarious and heart warming. River did the exact thing that Skye needed even if he is left hurt at first and the calamity that is his life will leave you sore from laughing so much. His date nights and first forays into cooking, dying his hair and the royal rodent are just a few reasons not to read this book in public if you prefer people not to think you are mad and prone to inexplicable bouts of hysterical giggling!

Nana....omg Nana.

I can’t think of another female character in this genre that I love as much as this crazy, and I mean totally crazy, 80 year old woman! She is an enabler of sheer madness! She loves her gay homosexual family and friends and will eviscerate anyone that has a bad word to say about them. Whether she is skip diving, dog napping or driving her stretch limo into another act of chaos the woman is completely unstoppable and totally unapologetic.

I guessed the twist ( I read too much) and thought it was brilliant. I love Alexa’s writing and this series in particular is addictive. The writing is fantastic, the plot lines will keep you interested, the characters all need a little loving and Nana is an icon. Roll on 2015 and the next in the series!!

I'm really sad this book didn't work out better for me because they were parts of the story I really enjoyed. I loved Skye and Dare. When it was just them- I loved it! What kind of turned me off was the over the top humor. Some was funny but it started to reach a point where it was too much and I started to skim over those parts. Maybe I just wasn't in the right frame of mind for this story.

Overall I did enjoy it and I would recommend it. It's my first book by this author and I'll definitely be looking into her back list. 3.5 Stars.

Hi, I really like this series and found Skye Blue to be right up there with the best of them. It was very well written (with the exception of a few missing words). I can't wait for the next in the series and really hope that Cole and River will get their own book.

My favourite in the series, so far, is Dante and Charlie and I found this story to be almost as good as theirs.

All in all a really great read.

This, by far, is the best book in the series. No mafia or police in this installment, except for the side characters. Absolutely hysterical with a short nerve-wrecking episode very close to the end.

Read all the way, past "The End" line, and you will get yourself DIY Big Fucking Cock and more time with Absolutely Fabulicious Nana!

4.5 stars, rounding up to 5.

Ali - Thank you bazillion times for lending me this book! :D

I fell for Skye and his hero in a later book in this series which I read first. So, no problem reading out of order!

I adore Skye. Yes, this book is really sweet in places and over the top and the Nana character is manic...but it really works for me. This is joyful unrealistic romance, however, the characters are really delightful and funny.

There is ache in here and that balances the book for me. I really liked this love story and this couple.

3.75* rounded UP!

The work rivals, who can't stand each other because of a previous, sidewalk, trash-talking exchange, are somehow bound to end up together, or are they?

The chatroom buddies, who nightly bare their souls to each other, would be perfect together, except they're destined never to meet, or are they?

This was a fun, plot-driven read, with a supporting crazy-ass cast, including an 'ex'-mafia nanna, a narcissistic, abusive former TV soap star, neighbors who seem based on SNL characters, and a menagerie of pets that fills in the gaps.

Yes, it is over-written, predictable, and melodramatic, but doesn't that come with the territory?

Skye is the son of a hippie, hence the name, who attends an Art school in San Francisco, where he makes art from pieces of scrap metal. Up until recently he lived with his half-brother, River, and worked part-time at a skeezy night-club and part-time as an assistant caterer. River gets fed up with Skye, he loses his job with the night-club and the caterer and his roommate, pretty much in one fell swoop.
Dare is a go-go dancer at a club where Skye auditions for work, and he hates Skye upon sight. He doesn’t like his blue hair, his attitude about life or work and he things Skye is a pretentious rich boy playing at dancing and art.
Skye thinks Dare is a stuck-up prick who thinks too much of himself and nothing for anyone else.
Of course they end up hot for each other!
If you’ve been following the series, you know essentially what we’re in for. In Alexa Land’s First and Forever series we pretty much can expect one or both of our MCs to have a pretty hard life and then for them to have some pretty hysterical interactions wherein they defy all odds and fall in love. Throughout the story various parties from the other books will pop in and out and Nana, the grandmother of the former mobsters from previous books, will do something outrageous and will express her pride in all things gay and homosexual. (Thank you Sir Elton John!)
Skye is a great character. He is genuine and sweet, confident yet shy, a virgin desperate to get some experience, but mostly a lonely guy, out to find true love. Dare has been through a lot with his past lover and tries to shut Skye out, but their blazing attraction overcomes his initial concerns and dislikes. There are some brief plot twists that keep the story moving and we get more hints about the enigmatic Christian (who is sure to have a book of his own soon.)
I always laugh when I read these books and enjoy the sweet predictable happiness they guarantee. Nana, as always, is a riot.
Overall Impression:

4 stars – I really liked it

This is one of my favorites in this series so far. I've really enjoyed most of them, but I love Skye's journey in this novel, his growth from an immature kid to a functioning adult. The dialogue always feels so natural, and the way the characters interact and relate to each other never feels forced, which helps add to the overall enjoyment of the story.

Another thing to love about this, without giving away too much in the spoiler department, is that Skye figures 'the mystery' out before you (as the reader) reach the point of eye rolling and 'OMG it's obvious' internal commentary. And then, he does exactly what any normal person would do and actually confronts the object of said mystery. Hooray! Again, characters acting in perfectly human ways, normal ways, actually acknowledging their fears and admitting they're there then working with them/around them to build a relationship!

So much to love! Yet again, I can give five stars to a novel that makes sense and was pleasant to read. I couldn't put this one down once I picked it up, and will definitely re-read it (I regularly re-read several of the books in this series, Way Off Plan probably being the one I turn to the most, but I foresee this one popping up to the top, too. Skye and his cast of friends are just so much fun).

I can't wait for the next installment. I'm looking forward to reading Christian's story, and I really want to see something happen with River (who I love in every appearance he makes - not sure about the potential pairing we saw in this novel for him, but definitely interested in reading it).

Skye Blue is one excellent read ... Alexa Land's story telling has made this book one of my favorites ...

Skye Blue is on a mission of losing his virginity and also wanting to find someone special.

While trying to balance his life ... School and finding a job ...

Skye befriends someone who is all he wants through an online dating site.

Skye also finds a job ... There is a guy that is all he wants ...

Can Skye make a decision of which one he wants ?

Or will he Dare to believe that love will find him ...

Like always the secondary cast of characters are excellent.

Nana will make you laugh ...

This book will make you cry with all you have because it is proven that equal rights should be a thing that all of us need to support ...

I found myself putting this book down every few chapters. Not because there was something wrong with the book, but because I wanted it to last because I know the next installment isn't out until 2015 and I didn't want the book to end. I love Skye, I think we all go into the book thinking we know who he will end up with or who we want him to be with. I won't give away who he ends up with but I loved the journey for them getting there. Guess what shows up in this book again? The Hello Kitty pick lock set! LOL. I bet those things are selling like hot cakes online! Of course Nana was her same wonderful coloful self, god love her! I can't wait for the next book and hopefully we will have some weddings in the next few books, we have some boys that still need to get hitched!
