HellNight Academy is no longer what it was. There’s no fear of the coming night, no fear of death lurking around every corner. Light Guardians grace the halls right along with the rest of us. The lines between good and evil are balanced, at least for now. Everything is right with the world, or so I thought.
Something stirs inside me, haunting my dreams and unravelling my powers. Unbidden feelings I can no longer ignore. Someone calls to me in the dark depths of my soul, and now it is up to me to find them and bring them home. I’ll do whatever it takes to retrieve what’s mine, even if it means losing myself along the way. For the love of my mate is worth the sacrifice.
Unbidden is not a standalone, but a 26,000-word accompanying novella. This story must be read after the events of the HellNight Academy series for max. enjoyment.
I’m happy to be back in the Hell Night Academy world! Any time I get to spend with Ty and Trys will always be a special treat. I love getting a look at where they are and I’m happy to know that it doesn’t seem like this series is finished yet. I’m going to have to go stalk Well’s socials because I recall her mention something about continuing the series but not necessarily with Micah at the front? Either way I hope whatever happens we get more development between Micah and Rook, Rodyn, and Lyrik those relationships just don’t feel as solid as things do with the twins. And of course finding out what is going on with Esme and the new threats.
Oh my gosh what a turmoil of a story this addition to the world is 😱 after so much loss, Mika still has sacrifices to make 😢 this is a novella but the emotion and action in this book make it a quick read as you can’t put it down! There is more to the whole redemption arc of what happened at Hellfire Academy so this does have story continuation after the original three books and it does feel like there’s a lot more to come to this story.
I loved that this was short, fast and to the point. The pull to find Lyrik has never been stronger especially now that Micah is manifesting his magic! But going to Nod is filled with risk and sacrifice. I can’t wait for more!
Oohhh my gosh this was such a great short story.. it continues off the last one so you definitely have to read the ones before this to know what’s going on… I really love how they just tie in together and you get a lot of your questions answered.. and that ending was 😳 I can’t wait to see where the next one takes us ..
I'm having a very love/hate kind of moment with this story. I love that we get more of Micah and her chosen family. I adore that we get another step in the redemption of everything that befell HellNight Academy. But I hate, it absolutely kills me, that there are still more sacrifices that Micah’s asked to make. Once again, I'm grateful to know that while this is an ending, it’s not the end. There’s so much more going on here that I need to know about, and I can’t wait to discover where the author will take us next. I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.
Unbidden places us back at Hellnight Academy. We follow along as Micah, Ty, Trys, and Rodyn deal with the aftermath from the last battle. In the midst of Micah grieving from the loss of Esme and Lyrik, an opportunity presents itself for her to close an open wound.
Consumed! Even with this novella being 100 pages it delivers. Dreia’s writing is so detailed and immersive I was instantly pulled back into the Hellnight world. I didn’t realize how much I missed hearing “Sunshine” and “Kitten” until I was reading it on the page. My heart literally fluttered.
Micah, my poor sweet Micah. My heart aches for her. She is constantly making sacrifices and everything always falls on her shoulders. I just want to reach into the book and give her a hug.
This installment introduces a new adversary, shows us familiar tether pulls, and brings us more chaos.
I can’t wait to see what Dreia does with Esme’s story and I’m definitely looking forward to more of Trys in the future. Also a big thank you for not leaving us heartbroken this time 😅.
If, like me, you were completely devastated by a certain event in Unbroken, then you have to read Unbidden. It's Dreia Wells shot at redemption.
Micah was completely devastated by the loss of her mate. She's been trying to move forward, but the cracks are starting to show. Micah isn't whole, but not all hope is lost. It looks like Micah has another fight ahead of her. I always enjoyed her steadfast determination, and she will need every bit of that to rescue her mate.
This was a quick read but so good. Driea has given not only a glimpse of the Academy after the war but she's also included a touch of mythology and added a few surprising characters. The story went by in a flash. I'll be honest with you, I was not expecting this book. I thought I would have to live with a broken heart, but Driea came through for her fans, and it was much appreciated. Best of all, Driea's not done yet. More books are coming, and I can't wait.
I was so ready for this book. I’ve been waiting to see more of Micah, and getting that deeper look into her was something I really appreciated. She’s always been a layered, compelling character, and for most of the book, that held true.
But the ending? That completely threw me off. It suddenly shifted into a “the men matter more” narrative—and that has never been who Micah is. It felt like she was written out of her own arc in service of someone else’s story. What she did at the end was the most selfish thing I’ve ever seen from her, and honestly, it didn’t feel earned. It didn’t feel right.
I know Esme’s story is coming, and maybe that’ll bring some clarity or redemption, but this ending made it hard to walk away feeling satisfied. I wanted to give this 5 stars. I thought I would. But that character change? It left me unsettled.

The previous book, and the “real” end of Micah’s trilogy, was called Unbroken, but it left me behind utterly and completely torn apart. Unbidden is the book that heals those little pieces the author left behind back then. It’s the perfect bridge between Micah’s story and the next story set in this world, but in a way it also manages to stand on its own. It’s short but to the point, and I loved going back to this world that managed to fascinate me when I read the first charters of the very first book. I’m really excited to find out what will be next in this world! This novella explores a part of the world we hadn’t discovered yet, and it totally wet my appetite to find out more.
I did a re read of the series before reading this book, just to refresh my memory! And I can say reading it again was just as good as reading it the first time. It’s a year on and Micah is feeling the loss of Lyrik and Esme. She can feel Lyrik and is convinced he is still with them. So after telling Uriel, she agrees that he must be alive and that she should go to the Nod to get him but warns her of Cain and what he may want in return. What he wants in return, will have a huge effect. To what extent we do not know yet but I cannot wait to find out!! It’s definitely an emotional read, I definitely found it more emotional than the previous books.
This book is a direct follow on to the HellNight Academy series, and you need to have read that first.
Micah is trying to make sense of her life following the ending of the last book, the losses, the changes, her new relationships. Throughout this, I really felt for her sense of loss and confusion. She's grown, but maybe not in the way she wanted. Her actions to find and reclaim Lyrik are wholly understandable.
I loved the two main settings. Seeing what's happened to the academy and the changes the battle have caused there was fascinating, and the new place she finds herself was dark and twisted in the best way.
The ending was unexpected, but links the previous series with the upcoming one, and I can't wait to see where that takes us!
Dreia gives us another great book in the Hellnight Academy series! The story of Mika and her mates and tethers continues on to their second year and the academy is way different from the last year, but the twists keep coming at them from all sides. To find out what happens on the way to another wicked cliffhanger, dive into this beautifully written book with complex characters and plot twists that come out of the blue and keep you turning pages throughout. I loved reading this story and highly recommend it! Don't miss out on this book!
Unbidden is a companion novella that CANNOT BE READ AS A STANDALONE. This MUST be read after the HellNight Academy series. This is a follow-up to Micah and her mate's story, that I didn't know I needed in my life. In this short novella, there's a wide range of emotions and action packed. My god, did I love it so much. And it leaves it open for more possibilities, which i'm totally down for. Definitely excited to see what happens next!
Unbidden is a follow up book to the first 3 books in the Hellnight Academy. Still following Micah and her guys a year later living with the lasting repercussions of the events of those books. This novella gives us some much needed answers about Lyrik but it also gave us a taste of things to come. I loved that we got some more book time with Micah and the guys. This was a great addition to this series and a cracking read too.
Returning to HellNight Academy, Unbidden is a companion novella to the original series and was a great addition! I always love returning to the world of a series I thought may have concluded. We were left with heartbreak at the end of the last book, and Micah is still feeling the loss of one of her Tethers. With a potential chance to save him, Micah will have to give up much for the chance to bring Lyrik back. We still get some great moments between Micah and her other Tethers, YAY romance, but then also some tension and action as she prepares to risk it all for another. Loved it!
Unbidden, book 4 of The HellNight Academy series by Dreia Wells @dreia_wells_author. Dreia is a favorite author of mine.
This was an amazing novella that I loved about Micah, Rook, Trys, Ty, Rodyn, Lyrik (YAY! I am so glad he is back)! Tropes: Paranormal, Academy, Why Choose, Triplet Brothers, Soul Tethers Matches, Age Gap, Professor/Student, Necromancers, Demons, Witch, Hybrid Witch/Demon/Angel, Severed Soul Tether, Found Family & HFN!
She's back! I'm so happy this author decided to write another book. My heart was broken at the end of this series when Micah lost her Tether. It was a bittersweet ending with everything that took place so when I saw this novella...I grabbed it immediately.
Delving back into this fantasy RH was great. It also comes with a lot of conflict for Micah. She's never had an easy road and that is still true. And she'll be challenged once again and have to face some really difficult decisions.
Micah life is better now the light has entered the school but a strange feeling will make her go hunting. It seems a mate is out there waiting and calling for her. Now she needs to try to find him so follow her to see how she gets on
I have missed this series!!! Micah is still missing Lyrik after sacrificing his self save everyone but is it just her imagination or grief or is she really seeing his power is still alive and well inside her?? If it is could he be somewhere still alive??? And if he is what will the cost be to bring him back??? The cost just may be the world because something just may have came back with!!! Can't wait for the next book!!!

I loved loved LOVED this series when I first read it so I was particularly excited to see that Dreia had a new addition to the series, a novella and I couldn't wait to dive right in! And she did it again, plunging me into this magical world where who's good and who's not is so blurred, it's like trying to see through a haze of thick fog. A world of archangels, demons, nephilim, untold mindboggling magic and characters the likes I've not seen before. A plot I've not seen before. A story so unique, it secretes a power over me, driving me to devour every word.
Dreia pulls me into every book she writes, she pens a tale that gets my pulse racing almost from the beginning of each book, she tugs me and pulls me in all directions. There's a sentence in this book that describes what she does to me "chews at me from the inside out" That is the hook she plants, that is the hook she brandishes around, like a scythe, slicing...but it's not all gut wrenching, it's the emotions she able to infuse with mere words that get me. Every time.
There was a battle, there was a winner and there was a loser in the previous 3 books, which you REALLY should read if you haven't done so already. We are a year post battle, a year of bliss for Micah and the 3 brothers who are her mates but there's one mate missing, one mate lost and one mate who fell during the battle. The cavity of this loss is something Micah can't put a bandaid on. Her.... disquiet...affects her mates, especially the brothers, who, oh lordie, are death personified! But they support her, they give her the strength by their confidence and Micah takes matters to the very extreme. She battled and felled an archangel before, this should be a piece of cake in comparison.
I fell in love with all these characters all over again. Reading this novella has awakened a cavity in me, a desperate need to reread the previous 3 books, to fall once more into this unusual world, these unusual characters and this unusual spicy read that has me both salivating and on edge the first time round. This time was no different. Dreia spun an incredible story of loss, of love, of going to the ends of the world, literally, propelled only by the power of love. But new opponents come into play and dear heavens do I need to know what the ultimate consequences will be, which leaves me with, HURRY UP AND WRITE THE NEXT BOOK DREIA!
Unbidden, book 4 in The HellNight Academy series by Dreia Wells, is an absolute gem of a novella that brings back all the reasons why I fell in love with this world in the first place. After a break from Micah, Rook, Trys, Ty, Rodyn, and Lyrik, I was more than ready to dive back into their lives—and let me tell you, it was worth the wait! The chemistry between these characters, reminding us why they’re so irresistible.
The novella is a whirlwind of raw emotion, thrilling twists, and that signature spicy tension that HellNight Academy fans crave. This time, the story is propelled by love, loss, and the kind of devotion that can drive characters to the ends of the earth—literally. But as with every book in this series, Wells doesn’t shy away from throwing in some new, dangerous opponents that have me on the edge of my seat. I’m left absolutely craving what’s coming next, as the stakes have never been higher.
Reading Unbidden was a journey that has reignited my desire to go back and reread the entire series from the start. If you’re looking for a story that’s equal parts heart-pounding and heartwarming, with a dash of that spicy, unforgettable chemistry between the characters, this novella will hit all the right notes.

Micah has given much and lost much yet the loss of her Tether Lyrik is so hard for her to bear. Micah is sure she can still feel him, and hear is voice calling out to her. She has been researching in the library looking for any information on what she is feeling. Micah’s other Tether’s Rodyn, Trys, Ty, and Rook decide she should have a night off and have a party. What a party it was wow! The next day in Headmaster Maverick’s office Micah explains what happened at the party and why when the Archangel Uriel appears and in answer to Micah’s questions she says it is possible that Lyrik is in the land of Nod, ruled over by Cain. As no one knows where it is they will allow her to go to fin Lyrik. She must go alone and to beware Cain will demand a payment and it might be more than she is willing to give. To be careful in the land of Nod your memories are stolen and there are many illusions. As Micah gets into the boat with Charon is standing at the bow, will she be able to save Lyrik and be able to pay the price to Cain? Or will Micah be lost forever in Nod?
Mika has lost two tethers at the end of the last book in sacrifice despite saving the world must she loose more. Although one is far away the other is dead or is he. His magic is calling to Mika making her feel and do things her power or rather his is becoming uncontrollable. Will she be able to find him, is he really dead or can he be saved.
Lots of fantastic character and relationship development as Mika attempts to get through life with only 4 tethers. The academy itself is in a phase of transformation accepting students from all walks of life with a different curriculum to the death and murder of before.
You’ll be hooked from the moment you start reading. Really enjoyed it and hope the books keep coming. Please read the other books in the series before this one. Highly recommend it

Please do not read this if you haven't read the series! - READ THE SERIES! It's fabulous, I promise
I loved this post series novella and it's mini-adventure! It was far from the usual snippet of the future but gave me the ending I wanted for the characters.
You can really feel the character relationships develop now that Micah has lost 2 of her tethers (or has she?!) and it really highlights her struggles after her and her tether's sacrifices.
Her sacrifice is offset by what you see at the academy and the openness is who they are letting enrol.
I love that you get to see that the sacrifice is not for nothing!
Absolutely drama packed - if you love a little chaos you are at home here and I reallllly hope there is more to come.
The novella follows Micah to discovery of Lorik being alive and in trouble, leaking her magic and being sent to the Underworld to retrieve him. Faced with fresh challenges, her already grieving and hurting heart is forced to make yet another difficult decision - and agree to yet another sacrifice.. The battle might be over, but Micah's story definitely isn't. Although it is already full with loss and sacrifices, and the final battle seemed to be over, there are always new threats resurfacing, new villains seizing the power and causing trouble. And now she has to accept yet another blow. The story was fast and straightforward, with familiar characters and a new addition to the antagonist category. It promises more to come, and I am very curious where the next story will take us.
