Lord please someone just help me. Am I broken? Am I incorrect? But this book just resonated with me on so many levels.

So much of this book is just 100% Kol Anderson. As with every review of mine of his work, the standard disclaimer applies: The dialogue will kill you. It is so powerful and he is brilliant.

This is the fourth book in the Broken Series and I strongly advise you to read up on the first three books before tucking into this one, but it has new characters in it too so you might be able to be read it as a standalone but you need Aaron's journey to understand the full impact of Kol Anderson's vision.

Carter, who we met in Book 3 haunted my dreams and thoughts for months (again with the goddamn brilliant dialogue amiright?) And his story doesn't disappoint. Like I said, I don't know if I am just wrong, but I just love reading really angsty, really gritty reads and nobody rings my bell like Kol Anderson

His descriptions are powerful and his scenes are set up so brilliantly. His poetic prose speaks to my soul on so many levels and every one of his books, without fail, leaves me changed for the better, and this is what you need and expect from an author that you spend your precious free time with.

I love a Kol Anderson journey. I feel the anguish of each character, I see the hope in every journey of just wanting to make it, to survive the messed up ride that life placed us on. So many universal truths are explored and exposed in each of Kol's works and I feel like I should thank him every time after wiping my mouth.

I always start my reviews with the best intentions of talking about the story and the characters, but always end up getting sidetracked with just talking about the world class Kol Anderson experience - and for me that is what every book of his is - an experience.

If you want a glimpse into the deepest crevices of the human spirit and take a journey into humanity, Once Broken will take you all the way and won't apologize for it.

Mr. Anderson, we've been dancing for a long time now.

OMG!! How do these evil gits keep finding these poor guys?? Depraved creatures from the Black Lagoon.....the evil gits, not the poor guys!!

Not giving anything away!! Poor Carter, poor Joshua, bloody Vincent and that mob of sadistic bastards!! Burke...you need putting down, so do you Owen Pratt!! Tristan, well at least you helped Carter, but you're not a good person, just cos you don't take part, doesn't mean you're absolved of blame.

Aaron, meeting 'him' at the end was obviously no accident...I put the blame squarely on the shoulders of your 'friend' Eric. Wise up guys, come on!!

Big smooch Mr Author, and thanks for the ARC!!

Once Broken is the first book of Season 2 from The Broken Series. Rather than picking up where we left off, Kol starts us off with a set of new characters within the same story line. The majority of this story will be told from our MC Carter Bennett, which we were briefly introduced to during The Escape.

Carter is a very handsome 24 year old man who finds himself finally able to have the opportunity to be happy with a long time crush. But before he is even given the chance to fully enjoy the start of this new relationship, Carter wakes up to find himself in a dark cell and unbeknownst to him becomes Aaron's "replacement". Afraid of spoiling and of giving away too much, just know that Kol's write is true to form. And that from here on he will take us through a ride of feels that we have come to expect. And just like all his other books I was left in awe and wanting more.

Another job well done, Mr. Anderson! Looking forward (and impatiently!) to the continuation of Season 2!

OMG!! Kol Anderson's writing is a brilliant wicked evil genius that will captivate your deepest thoughts, body and manage to just touch your heart all in one story. I am such a fan and Once Broken did not disappoint in any way. I found myself asking a million questions and really wanting to hang Kol for keeping me guessing. I even was willing to beg for the unanswered questions that I was left with. Of course Mr. Anderson just laughed at my request!! Yep, I know he was all smiles while I was left breathless once again..LOL.

Once Broken picks right up where the Broken series has left off and we get plenty of new characters that are entwined in this remarkable tale. Carter made his appearance in the last book but in Once Broken we get to know him. I must say I have a big place in my heart for him. His strength is so prominent you can't help but have admiration for the man. I can't wait to read the end of his journey into hell. Joshua is the "almost" new man in Carter's life before Vincent. I felt so sorry for him. He didn't even have a prayer for a life with Carter. ( Actually it pissed me off which is why I love Kol..just sayin. ) Then there was Tristan..Oh I loved everything about him except that he was involved (sorta) in this whole crap.

Once again you just can't go into too many details without spoiling this fabulous tale. I can promise you this...this book and the entire series will most definitely take you to hell and back and still just leave you speechless. However, you will not regret the ride my friends, you just won't. This again, is a very raw intense read with some very dark angst involved. It won't be for everyone that's for sure. If you love a journey into the realm of darkness I can think of no books better to start with than this series. Be warned you will be saying "WTH, REALLY???" a lot but its what makes this fantastic! So to my fellow dark readers I say take this journey you will love it.

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE

Kol Anderson is genius. Dark, gritty and not an ounce of fluff anywhere! Don’t read this until you have read Season 1, you need to experience the horror that is Vincent from the start! Is it wrong I like Vincent?

Aaron is recovering. Aaron escaped. Meet Carter. Carter is Aaron’s replacement.

Just as it looks like Carter might have a chance at happiness with Joshua he wakes up drugged and bound in a dirty cell and discovers lifes a bitch. He is Vincent’s latest recruit and Vincent is still an evil bastard with a sadistic streak that will break the best of them.

The training has begun; they will break Carter and make him into a submissive sex toy. The more he resists the harder the training will be as Carter soon finds out when he is almost left for dead by the horror that is Burke. Is Tristan his saviour? How much does Tristan know about what happens to the boys? Is he really blind to the drugs, beatings and rapes or is he giving Carter false hope?

And holy hell I didn’t expect the bathroom scene!! God damn you Eric, you have to be behind that!! Can Aaron help Joshua or is too late for him as well?

Kol Anderson you are killing me all your twists and turn. I need the next instalment!!

In this new episode, we have the story of Carter, unlike Aaron, here we have a vision of what happens after the kidnapping, abuse and the trainer to become a sex slave .. there are customers with perversions (but who does not?) and others who live only to be cruel just for fun. ahhhh People are full of contradiction !!
I can not reveal more, because I can not take anyone the pleasure of reading and have emotions so strong. let me tell you, the end leaves us with a cliffhanger, Aaron makes his appearance .... and I screamed so much... and I lost my voice. *fufufufufu*
ahh tell me how the pain suppose to go ??? .. argh....
Kol as always take us in his dimension, he makes us feel the pain, fear .... all the emotions that a human being can experience.
I have a weakness for Kol, I love his books, and I can only say, read, read, read his books, you will not regret!

Oh dear God where do I start?
Again I am floored by the exceptional writing skills of Mr Anderson. You get so immersed in the story, the characters, the emotion emitted. It's truly a journey everytime I read one of his stories.
I'm not going to get into the plot as that would spoil it for those waiting but be sure to know, it's got angst, it's got twist, it's got every emotion you can conjure and you may want to hunt Kol down with that ending- hold him to ransom whilst he produces part 5!!
Stunning writing. Stunning book.
From hence forth he is 'Master'

It’s no secret I’m a huge Kol Anderson fan. I find his writing mesmerizing and compelling and will continue to read everything he writes.

For those who haven’t read the 3 short stories of season one in the Broken series, why not? Go read them before you read this one. It all goes together and you’ll be missing vital information if you don’t. And please, for those who have triggers, this story touches on a lot of issues, so please read the blurb carefully. You have been warned.

On to the review.

As with season one, this first story in season two starts out with a bang and keeps on going. I can’t say it enough times, Mr. Anderson has a way with bringing you into his stories and captivating you with his technique of emotional storytelling. I’m not gushing too much, am I? Well, it’s how I feel, not apologizing for it. I am in awe of this author.

We meet Carter, who we briefly met at the end of Season One. He becomes another victim in Vincent’s dark, vicious world and, unbeknownst to Carter, Aaron’s “replacement”. The brutality and torment Carter goes through is atrocious. The author brings us into the depths of Carter’s mind. We feel his pain, confusion, and fear. We see the horror that is Carter’s life now. Instead of the author focusing on the torture used in training the slave in Aaron’s story, the author fast forwards to what happens after that. He takes us to the brothel where the sex slave victims are at the mercy of others with their sick perversions. If the training wasn’t bad enough, the brothel itself was on a whole other level of abuse. What really left me with chills – now it was crystal clear – this isn’t just a handful of sickos. This was a lucrative, no holds barred, successful business made possible by the kidnapping and deprogramming of innocent people against their will. I was also left thinking, can this be happening right now in the real world? How are they getting away with this?

We also get what we didn’t really see in the previous installments, a little bit of hope for our main character. Tristan is a man who has the ability to maybe get Carter out of this nightmare. But as with all the other Kol Anderson stories, we just don’t know what’s going to happen. We have to wait until the next one to find out. I hate the not knowing, but I love the anticipation. I get goosebumps just thinking of what’s to come.

For those who love Aaron, his story isn’t over yet. The ending tells us Vincent isn’t quite finished with him yet. Talk about an eye popping, OMG conclusion to this story. Did I expect anything less from Kol Anderson? No, not at all.

Once again the author takes us on this dark journey into the pits of hell and keeps us wanting more. I would recommend this to those who love dark, twisted tales and don’t mind being left hanging for the conclusion.

I was a bit disappointed not to get more information about Aaron or get many details about what Eric has been up to. I had been expecting this book to be a goodbye to Aaron and a transition into season 2, Carter's story so I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Aaron's story is not over! We do get to meet the new male mc, Carter and his story was just as gripping and consuming as Aaron's. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading this book! As with all of the books in this series, there's another huge cliffhanger at the end of this one. I am very eager to see what happens next!
PS: I almost deducted a star because this book is waaaaay too short. I feel like Mr. Anderson robbed us readers by creating such short books. However, I have to give him credit for his business smarts.... these books are so good and end with crazy cliffhangers so I AM going to buy the rest of the series even though I want to boycott them due to their brevity!!!

The Broken series continues and while Aaron's story is not being left behind, the focus is on his "replacement" Carter, who was briefly introduced in the last part of the story. Rather than rehash the torture we already know comes with training, Carter's story focuses on what happens after that; what would have possibly happened to Aaron had he not escaped. Suffice to say that the torture and abuse does not end once Carter is put to work. Like Aaron before, Carter has family and friends who are unwilling to give up on finding him and they turn to the one person most likely to understand.

Of course I am left with a number of questions about where Carter is being held, those people who frequent the brothel and just how far Eric's involvement goes. On top of it all, it wouldn't be a proper Broken episode ending without the surprising cliffhanger. Looking forward to the next chapter.

I'm starting to get used to the way Kol Anderson writes, which is good because it makes it easier to settle into these short reads. I liked this book even more than the previous installments. I enjoyed the fast pace, and the continual twists. I stand by my previous opinion that the pace is what helps the reader deal with the harsh subject matter. Beyond that, these books are just so damned intriguing. You never know how his characters are going to act. Each scene is a quick moving, yet full snapshot into the characters that stars in it, and you go with them on their journey. Right now, I am a Tristan fan - want more Tristan!!! This, I know, could change in the next read, and I am perfectly fine with that. Took me awhile to get to this one, but I won't make that mistake again. Oh, and you guessed it, as always, I was caught off guard in the end. What do you expect from Kliffhanger Kol? I'll be hanging on til the next round, for sure.

I was impatiently waiting for the book to come out after devouring Season One!!! My two favorite genres: dark and m/m combine for a crazy dark dark dark journey into sexual slavery! Kol Anderson entwines many different characters, some you love, some you hate with a passion and a few you just don't know what to do with!!! Do I hate Eric? Yup, I think I have added him into the "want to stab" list! Tristan? I am holding out hope for! Amazing characters, twists and turns, sexual sadism and torture. These books are not for the faint at heart and take you into a world that no one would willingly enter. If you are truly into the "dark side" enter this series!!

Well I had to read this to find out how Aaron was doing and to hope that his replacement Carter would be ok....Carter has just found a life with his boyfriend Joshua when he's taken from his sisters house.....Carter I don't think is as strong as Aaron and I really feel he's gonna go through a really tough time...Another great book from Kol and straight onto the next one x

4.5 star review by The Blogger Girls.

f you have been following poor Aaron’s story up to this point, you will, no doubt, want to get your hands on this installment. While Aaron still remains an important part of this story, this book focuses on Aaron’s replacement, Carter. We get a brief glimpse of Carter’s life before he is taken into the fold. While I was afraid this would be Aaron’s story all over again, with a new “recruit,” such is totally not the case.

While Carter does undergo training, much of it is glossed over, taking us to the point where Carter is put to work. The scenery here is almost totally new. Carter is basically a prostitute in a brothel, albeit not your every day whorehouse. There are high paying clients here, and anything goes. Unfortunately, that leads to quite a bit more suffering for Carter.

In the meantime, Carter’s family has not given up hope and manages to come into contact with Aaron, seeking his help in recovering Carter. Rather than hide away, as one would expect, Aaron feels he can make a difference in helping those in a situation similar to his, even though this causes some strife with his own relationship.

This installment left me with many new questions. Many involve the brothel and its inhabitants, those who run it, and those who partake of its offerings. We meet some interesting new characters here that I really hope we get so see more of. Of course, the original bastards are here as well. Vincent is just as Vincent-y as ever, and you just know he hasn’t forgotten about our Aaron for very long. The ending had me grumbling and cursing in an “oh, no, you didn’t!” kind of way.

This is another fabulously twisted dark tale by the oh-so-talented Mr. Kol. If you love his writing, as I do, you will soak up every word, long for every twist and hang on for every turn. Of course I always want more, for the mere fact that I simply can never get enough and will gobble up anything his deliciously dark mind can come up with.

Check out this fabulous Q&A/Give Away from Kol!

This cover model is gorgeous. I just had to say that.

The Broken Series is a mix genre of BDSM, horror, drama and erotica. This being the fourth book in the serial, I'm starting to put more and more together, but nah not really. Still pretty much getting my mind blown. This particular installment didn't contain enough breakage to destroy my previously damage psyche. It kind of fell in the median of darkness when compared to the rest of the books.

The main focus of this episode is Carter. He is more of an innocent than Aaron was.
Now the boy was on the bed, his hands bound in front on him with plastic ties, gagged, and blindfolded.

Carter is smart though. He adapts well, and may even have a previously unknown kinky side.

Aaron and Vincent pop up a bit, as well as some of the other characters. The ending is a great one. I'm wondering what's next for both Aaron and Carter.

What the hell? Was this written by a 10 year old impersonating the author? Yes, I know I've been bitching about the literary quality of the first three instalments, but compared to this piece of shite they were Nobel prize material.

Are we supposed to care about this new guy, this Carter? Because if that's the case, the text does a piss poor job of it. It's back to the old game of torture torture torture from the first two books, but this time with a character who's about as engaging as a piece of wet paper and the most amateurish writing you could possibly imagine.

And the Tristan character... God, that was bloody awful. The knight in shining armour coming to save the damsel with his gentle BDSM and considerate fucking, is it? Oh, and everyone's got a secret doctor friend who can be called up in the middle of the night to patch up their wee pitiful slaves dying from sepsis. Only Tristan didn't know about the slavery? Despite the text referring to "slaves" several times during his POV? Fuck, who knows. This was a damn mess in every way.

Sure, we finally got back to Aaron there at the end, and gasp, would you look at that cliffhanger. But I honestly can't be moved to give a shit. After the absolute disaster that was this instalment, I won't be returning to this series.

This is season 2 to the prisoner series... it is the story of Carter's time in the brothel and on the outside, his Joshua is trying to find him, and seeks the help of Aaron.

Still very curious about Eric, and still upset with him...after I was just starting to like him!! Damn it ends with a big ole cliffy!!!! that damn Vincent!! afraid to finish book 5 (( or 2 in the second season series]) because I know it'll be another cliffy and I will NEED to know more and will have to wait. gah!!!
