An unbelievably gripping and binge-worthy psychological thriller with a heart-stopping twist
The first lie got him in trouble.
Our romantic date night was meant to fix us. But when my husband grabs my hand and says he needs to tell me something, I can tell from the look in his eyes that our marriage is in deep trouble.
The second lie ruined our marriage.
We’ve been here before. I wonder who she is. Is she younger than me? For a moment I wonder if I’ll forgive him. But I always do. It’s the only way to keep our family together.
But before I can say anything, my daughter calls, terrified. “Mom, I need you to come home. Please!”
The third lie could get someone killed.
Flashing police cars light up the nightmare that’s unfolding in my beautiful home. Blood is found in our garage and in an instant, I know what my husband has done.
I hold my children close as our perfect life shatters before my eyes. But as he is dragged away from us in handcuffs, something snaps inside of me. I’ve stopped at nothing to get the life we have. And even if my husband is a killer, I will do whatever it takes to keep my family together.
An absolutely gripping psychological thriller, Three Little Lies will have your heart pounding in your chest. Fans of Jeneva Rose, Shalini Boland, Sue Watson and K.L. Slater will be gripped from start to finish.
Writing is a way to make a lot of different people do exactly what you want them to do. When I can’t get my toddler to listen to me, I turn to my characters. They always cooperate!
I currently live in Charlotte, North Carolina with my husband and seven year old son. I have perfected the ability to write in a noisy house and create story lines while folding laundry.
Ten Things to know about me:
1. I have a fear of whales. All whales. The noise they make. The sight of them (even on tv). I don't think this phobia has a name and I've never met anyone else who feels this way. I blame it on the 3D movie when I was 7 at the Boston Museum of Science. (Thanks Dad.)
2. When I get hungry it brings out the worst in me. My friends and family know to keep me well fed. They pack snacks now.
3. I can cook but not bake. Not even a little. Not even a box of brownies.
4. If there is a song I like it is normal to hear me listening to it a hundred times (give or take) in a row.
5. I do not, under any circumstances, read directions. Who has time for that? Making mac & cheese by the seat of my pants for the last 25 years.
6. Like a black-out drunk, I have lost hours of my life mysteriously to Pinterest. If you haven't tried it yet... don't. Save your self.
7. Before I became a mother, lots of things grossed me out. Now nothing does.
8. My favorite food is food... my least favorite food is no food. I love food. (apply the same rule to wine)
9. I do not have a green thumb. I have the kind of thumb that kills any type of plant ever given to me. Whatever kind of thumb that is... I have it.
10. Writing has changed my life. Not just the career it's created but the way I feel when I write. If you have something you love to do I hope you get the opportunity to do it.

Three Little Lies by Danielle Stewart, when Joe is talked into taking in a foreign exchange student from England. She hopes it will help with her in 12 year old Megan’s relationship. Joe is a helicopter mom and worries about everything but when Eden joins the family at first. It seems like a dream come true. Joe will do anything to keep her children safe, unfortunately it dawns on her that Eden may not feel the same. To make matters worse, Joe and husband Everett are having issues and it seems he has been hiding something from her, but before they can discuss it, Eden goes missing and soon after Everett is arrested, but is everything as it seems or is there something much more sinister that hasn’t come out yet. when it comes to being a good mother, Joe goes above and beyond, but is all this an act? I found this book truly entertaining, and although I had read a story similar to this, I found this one to be different enough that I really enjoyed it. This was a great thriller and one I definitely recommend to others. I have read multiple books by this author, and she never seems to disappoint.#NetGalley, #Bookouture, #DanielleStewart, #ThreeLittleLies,
Jo is your basic gentle parenting helicopter mom, but to the extreme. She has severe anxiety and her son Ashton’s severe allergies make her hover over him and his older sister, Megan. Nonetheless, she’s a good mother and wife to her husband Everett, and they have a good life. He has a great job, they have a nice house, and their kids go to a coveted private school.
While in the school drop off line, Jo is basically accosted by a fellow mother. Eloise tells her about an exchange student program that they are getting involved in, and she’s hoping Jo will do the same. Eden is a 17-year-old girl from a small town in England, and she’s never been to a big city. She also has severe allergies, and it would make sense for her to live with a family that has a kitchen setup that prevents cross-contamination.
After learning it’s only for six weeks and getting the okay from Everett, who is always out of town anyway, they agree to take Eden in. The young girl is so excited to see America, to go to a mall, to see reality shows when they air instead of waiting months for them to be broadcast across the pond. She and Megan are getting along well, and everything seems fine - until Jo starts to notice something off about Eden. This girl seems fake, strange things keep happening when she is around, and Jo starts counting down the time until she’s gone. Who exactly did she let into her home?
I wish I could get into more of the story, but I can’t without spoiling how much fun this book was to read! I thought the idea of using an exchange student in a thriller was really original, and the book sped along until the ending. The ending was good but I have minor complaints (that you’ll only understand if you read the book): the notes weren’t necessary. That part of the book was so small, and it really didn’t seem to have anything to do with the story. Also, the title and synopsis are slightly misleading. Other than that, this was great and I loved Jo as a character. 4.5 stars.
(Thank you to Bookouture, Danielle Stewart and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review. This book is slated to be released on March 13, 2025.)
A woman's marriage is rocked by lies that lead to a shocking revelation. As her husband's deceit unfolds, she must protect her family at all costs, even if it means facing the truth about his dark actions.
This book was a quick and captivating read, unfolding like a thrilling mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. Bravo!
Told from the perspectives of Jo and Eden, the story delves into their secrets and unexpected revelations. As the plot unravels, it becomes clear that there are no coincidences in life. This book serves as a testament to that, showing how trouble can find us when we least expect it, no matter how far we try to run.
I found myself rooting for both characters, hoping for a happy resolution amidst the unexpected twists and turns that filled the story. Everything comes together in a satisfying conclusion that ties up all loose ends.
This was my first time reading a book by this author, and I am eagerly anticipating more. If you enjoy domestic thriller mysteries with a fulfilling ending, then this quick read is sure to captivate you.
Thank you, Bookouture, for the digital ARC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book had a hold on me from start to finish. I couldn't put it down! If you love a good domestic thriller with multiple twists and turns, Three Little Lies does not disappoint!
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC!
“Three Little Lies” is a psychological thriller that delivers on suspense and surprises. While the first 30-40% unfolds at a slower pace, it remains engaging, building a solid foundation for the twists to come. Once the first major plot twist hits, the story becomes utterly gripping, keeping you hooked until the end. I was hooked and I couldn’t put it down. I’ve read it within a day!! Packed with numerous twists, this book is a must-read for fans of thrillers. If you enjoy the style of Freida McFadden, you must read this book!!
Thank you Netgalley for this e-arc in exchange for a honest review.
Great story with twists and turns that I did not see coming. The story follows Jo, a bit of an overbearing mama bear that agrees to host a foreign exchange student in her family home for 6 weeks. When Eden arrives, there’s a few bumps on the road but overall a decent experience. When a sudden disappearance turns their world upside down, everyone is questioned and this twisty story is a true rollercoaster ride before the shocking truth is revealed. I am interested in more from this author, I think The Teacher will be up next! If you enjoy suspense with a touch of family drama, this book is for you.
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
What a wild ride this book was! It started out a little slower than the last couple books I've read, but I didn't mind because the character development was written so well with all kinds of subtle foreshadowing that still left me wanting to know more about each one. Then, once the drama started unfolding, it felt like twist after twist, answering some of my questions while leaving me with even more! Even when I thought I had it all figured out, I was wrong & didn't expect it to play out the way it did. An incredible read and I can't wait to read something else by Danielle Stewart.
The book was entertaining and I was desperate to know all of the lies. Josephine lives in constant fear of something happening to her children. She struggles with her preteen daughter, Megan, and her son has severe food allergies. Her husband Everett is gone a lot for work so Jo runs the show. After she is coerced into accepting an exchange student, Jo has hopes that Eden will help fix some of the issues with her family.
But Eden comes with issues of her own!! She shows up, and nothing is the same ever again.
I was certain I knew what was going on but I was blindsided by a couple of the twists and turns.
Jo’s extreme vigilance over her children was a little much. She certainly had a lot of demons to face and was a little annoying. However, I did feel like her character had redemption at the end.
I enjoy domestic thrillers and this was a good, fast read! Thank you Net Galley and publisher for the advanced eARC copy of this book!
I✅Is there a perfect mother? The perfect housewife? Can one say trying to be perfect can get a bit out of hand? And, lets add in so many lies and secrets….. Perfect storm for a gripping psychological thriller that will have you reading way late into the night. This was one crazy story!
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Three Little Lies is nothing short of outstanding. This gripping thriller will linger in my mind long after turning the final page. What a story, what a journey—brimming with psychological depth, intricate character development, and an ever-mounting sense of tension that completely immerses the reader.
The brilliance of this novel lies in its complexity. The way the story starts to unfold through Jo’s perspective is masterful, pulling you deeper into an unraveling mystery that grips you with an almost palpable sense of anxiety, and then we learn from other perspectives. The suspense is relentless, keeping you on edge with every revelation. Just when you think you have it figured out, the story takes another unexpected turn, proving itself to be one of the most compelling thrillers I have read in recent years.
Beyond its thrilling plot, Three Little Lies also delivers a poignant message about family, secrets, and the intricate, sometimes painful, ties that bind us. It’s a novel that doesn’t just entertain—it makes you reflect. This is precisely why it will stay with me long after reading.
If you’re a fan of thought-provoking, expertly woven thrillers that keep you guessing until the very end, this book is an absolute must-read. I cannot recommend it enough!
I really enjoyed Three Little Lies by Danielle Stewart. In the beginning, as Jo receives these ominous letters, I lean toward that as the main storyline/plot. I was curious to see what kind of secret she was keeping from her family and to be honest, I leaned toward something crazy or outrageous. When Everett is described in the book, I just started to feel like there was something off about him before he arrived home. Not necessarily a murderer or anything like that, but the lifestyle and the way Jo talks about him raise a red flag. As the story progresses, I think as parents, we can all tell that she has the best of intentions for her children, even if it may seem overbearing. I was not expecting the ending AT ALL, but I think that is what I enjoyed most about this book. Even with the traumatic events, there is some hope for healing.
I would recommend this book to my friends who enjoy a "who do it" story with some twist. I want to thank NetGalley, Danielle Stewart, and the publisher for the eARC!

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for providing me e-ARC of "Three Little Lies" in exchange for an honest review. also Thank you Danielle for writing this mindblowing and addictive book. . two words only: PAGE TURNER The moment I started reading this I was hooked, it was gripping since the first chapter, and especially the first half of the book was literally so addictive that if I had a physical copy of this I would be devouring it tbh. The chapters were short, the writing was easy (not too complicated to focus on), characters were interesting. Everyone has their own story despite being a single POV, which I usually dislike, this was way too good. . I got kind of distracted after the first half cause of personal reasons but i enjoyed it sm and it felt like such a great way to start the year. I would be highly recommending this on my social media platforms and looking forward to more of Danielle's writing.
4 Stars! Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. I have never read anything by Danielle Stewart before and I was pleasantly surprised with how good this psychological thriller was. The initial 30 percent of this book is a little slow, but it is hard to be mad about it when it was used to set the plot and character developments so nicely. The unveiling of the lies and the twists were really great. I would highly recommend.
This was a fast paced thriller, I really felt myself flying through the chapters with this one. It kept me hooked and eager to read on. This would have been a higher rating if I hadn’t of guessed the plot twist early on in this book. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
Wow!!! This is my first book by Danielle and it was unputdownable! So many twists and surprises! I love a good book that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and this one did just that! 5 stars all the way!! 🌟
WOW! Thanks Netgalley for this ARC book. This book had be hooked from the very beginning. It kept me involved the whole time. I just kept saying one more chapter and next thing I know I had read 10! I didn't want to stop reading. I did not see any of the twists and turns they were so surprising! I can't wait to read another book by Danielle Stewart!
This definitely had some surprises, but unfortunately, they were all held back by the worst main character that I’ve encountered in a long, long time.
Jo, a wife and mother of two, is approached with an opportunity to host a foreign student for 6 weeks. She decides to do this because the girl who needs to be placed has severe food allergies, just like her son. The issue with this is that Jo bases her whole existence on her son’s food allergies, and honestly, she’s really obnoxious about it. Anyways, Eden, a seventeen year old girl from England, starts rubbing off on Jo’s daughter. Of course Jo gets all bent out shape about everything. She’s just annoying and it really detracts from the first half of the book. Once the first big twist hits, she gets slightly less obnoxious, but the damage is done. I spent the whole book rooting against her.
Yea…the twists are good, but an irredeemable main character just ruins it. Maybe because I’m a male, with no kids, I don’t relate to her as much, but some of her reactions and decisions are just baffling and stupid.
This was one of the best books I’ve read in a while! The story was super gripping, the writing was smooth and compelling, and the mystery unfolded in such a clever way. It’s one of those thrillers that completely pulls you in, making it impossible to put down.
The plot follows a seemingly normal family—at least on the surface—who agree to host a foreign exchange student from England. But soon, things start to feel… off. Nothing is as it seems, and the tension slowly builds until you're completely sucked into the mystery. There were plenty of unexpected twists and well-placed surprises that made certain moments feel so intense, I didn’t even realise how much time had passed. You know that feeling when you’re so deep into a book that you suddenly snap out of it and realise you haven’t moved for hours? Yeah, that happened to me.
That said, there were a couple of things that didn’t quite work for me. First, the way the police and law enforcement were portrayed—they came across as both incompetent and manipulative, which was honestly a little frustrating. I get that it added to the tension, but it also made me think, Is this actually how things work in real life? If so, that’s pretty terrifying.
My other issue was with the main character, Jo. I just couldn’t connect with her. She sees herself as really smart, but her decisions didn’t always reflect that—sometimes she did things that just felt flat-out reckless. There were moments where I found her kind of frustrating, even unlikable, which made it harder for me to fully get invested in her journey. Maybe that was intentional, but it left me feeling a bit disconnected.
Overall, though, this was a fantastic read. The pacing was spot on, the suspense was great, and the twists kept me hooked. Even with the small issues I had, I still really enjoyed it and have already recommended it to a few people. If you’re into psychological thrillers with plenty of surprises, this one is definitely worth checking out!
Filled with drama and intrigue, 'Three Little Lies' definitively fits into the genre of mystery as it navigates the lives of the Hargrove family. Our main narrator, Jo, gives most of the insight into the plot. She, her husband, daughter and son invite a foreign exchange student, Eden to stay with them for a few weeks. Jo hopes that this will rebuild the bond with her daughter Megan, who has become embroiled in teenage angst. However, nothing goes according to plan - and what follows is bitterness and regret as we see that the best laid plans can go awry when faced with strong adversaries.
What I enjoyed most about the novel is the fact that I was actually very surprised by the plot twist! Almost from the beginning, I knew there was one coming, but I oftentimes find myself disappointed as I can usually figure them out quite easily. In this instance, Danielle Stewart caught me completely off guard!
My biggest grievance here was that I didn't like any of the characters (besides the youngest son, whose role was very minor). I really dislike when this occurs, as I need someone to root for. However, I will mention that Jo did somewhat redeem herself in the last few chapters, but not enough for me to say I liked her.
Ms. Stewart has definitely made a new fan in me and I am quite intrigued to see what else she writes in the future. 4 stars for the overall plot and rhythm of the book!
*A great many thanks to Bookouture, Danielle Stewart, and NetGalley for this ARC. It is important to note that I was not committed to providing a positive review; all opinions are undoubtedly my own.*
"It's hard for me to admit just how much people's hypothetical anger scares me."
This story follows the life of the perfect housewife and mother. But can perfect be taken too far? And what vulnerable situations can oneself find themselves in, when perfect is what everyone expects you to be? Secrets don't stay secrets for long and life drastically changes when an exchange student comes to live with the family...but for how long?
This story was fantastic! I was so gripped from the beginning. I especially enjoyed the uniqueness of the storyline. I'm someone who easily gets bored when lots of thrillers begin to follow the same algorithm, so it was nice to read something fresh and new.
As a fellow sufferer of general and social anxiety, there were so many fantastic quotes in this book. This paragraph particularly resonated with me a lot. The sheer intensity of anxiety, especially in social situations, is utterly exhausting. I thought I'd share this little bit: "It’s bothersome to me that my brain requires this much emotional extinguishing to the fires I set in there. I’m the arson and the firefighter when it comes to the ebbs and flows of anxiety. Some days I can let that controlled burn do its job and other days, I die in the smoke." I thought this feeling was brilliantly executed in the story!
Another quote that I felt was really poignant, especially in my area of work, highlighted the utter ridiculousness that boys/men can't feel emotions. The quote was: "...I refuse to give into that macho patriarchy crap that says my son can't feel his feelings. That's half of what's wrong with the world today." It hurts my heart that, even in today's world, young boys still follow such an outdated notion that "boys don't cry".
Wow though, I could honestly quote the whole book, if I could. A really great read!
This book is released on the 13th March, or you can grab it straight away for free on Kindle Unlimited!

This book was gripping! Mother Jo is a stay at home mom to her son Ashton who has severe allergies and her daughter Megan who is in the thick of puberty. She’s petrified that something bad will happen to her children one day which is exacerbated by the fact that her husband spends most of his time away from home. The tension builds when she begins to receive threatening letters in the mail and the reader doesn’t know why. After welcoming an exchange student into their home, things begin to spiral out of control and no one is prepared for what happens next! The second half of this was so twisty and unpredictable.
I could never have guessed where this book was going to go….I absolutely loved it. I had my suspicions about certain characters I thought were lying but I don’t think my imagination could have come up with what actually happened in this book. It was so clever, there was suspense, drama and also heartwarming family moments after plenty of conflict.
I could not put this down. This book kept surprising me when I thought I had it figured out. This was a brilliant and captivating read and I loved the resolution in the end. Megan and Eden’s relationship really takes a journey throughout the book and I love where they ended up. I enjoyed all the crazy theories the police drum up during the investigation. I would highly recommend this book. I went in blind and I enjoyed this so very much.
Thank you so much to @bookoutore @dstewartauthor and @netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review. Pub day is 13 March 2025!
captivating psychological thriller that will keep you hooked from the first page. The author skillfully weaves a tale of suspense, secrets, and betrayal that keeps you guessing throughout. The characters are intricately developed, each with their own complex motivations and hidden truths, which adds depth to the narrative.
The story revolves around a series of lies that threaten to unravel the lives of those involved, creating a tense and gripping atmosphere. The twists and turns in the plot are cleverly executed, and Stewart does an excellent job of maintaining suspense while revealing just enough to keep readers on edge.
What stands out about this book is its emotional complexity. The exploration of trust, deception, and the consequences of keeping secrets makes for a truly thought-provoking experience.
A captivating and fast-paced novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. It's a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers
