A busy florist. Blooming magic. And a dashing yet infuriating new neighbor.
It’s been months since the first gemtower responsible for keeping magic out of Ellamere shattered. The witch may be gone, but the memory of the chaos she wrought in the town still lingers. Since the fracture of the second tower, Tansy Fullbright has been holding her breath waiting to see if magic will take root in their beloved village.
Now, spring is here and Tansy’s biggest problem is the pest digging up flowers in her garden. Just when it seems like her life will return to normal, Sawyer Haywood moves in next door. Handsome, charming, and notoriously noisy, Sawyer leaves Tansy both intrigued and exasperated.
But when she uncovers the magical truth behind his captivating smirk, her life takes an unexpected turn. To protect his secret, he casts a spell using a rare and mystical flower, binding their fates in an unexpected way. What begins as a battle of wills spirals into a delightful game of wits and mischief.
But what happens when their efforts to sabotage one another inevitably bring them closer together? Will they deny their growing affection or will they accept that love can blossom in the unlikeliest of places?
Where Mischief and Magic Blossom is book two of the cozy romantasy series, Ellamere Enchanted, which will leave you wishing for a little magic in your own life. It is a low-stakes, sweet as nectar, low-heat frenemies to lovers fantasy romance set in the small fairytale village of Ellamere. Each book can be read as a stand-alone but is best enjoyed read in order of release.
I feel more than a little honored to be an ARC reader for this installment of the Ellemere Enchanted series. it was such a joy to be able to dive back into the second book.
This time, we follow Tansy—best friend of the original protagonist—and her story is just as heartwarming and enchanting as the first. It’s always a treat when a sequel brings back familiar faces while still giving us something new, and this one does it beautifully. The chemistry between her and Sawyer was so fun to dig into (garden pun intended! lol)
The world of Ellemere (and a little of Selanthia) continues to expand in ways that feel natural and inviting without ever getting too bogged down in the details. It’s the kind of fantasy that feels like a warm cup of tea—comforting, gentle, and quietly magical.
And speaking of tea... the floral-inspired recipes at the end were such a fun bonus! I love when books include little extras like that—it made me want to step right into Tansy’s garden and create my own floral arrangements!
If you’re a fan of cozy fantasy with lovable characters, a bit of magic, and a lot of heart, definitely give this one a read.
"Where Mischief and Magic Blossom" by JM Wallace is a sweet, heartwarming sequel that continues the cosy, magical vibes of A Recipe for Magic and Mayhem. Fans of the first book will feel right at home in this small-town setting, with its quirky characters, charming magic, and delightful mix of romance and mischief.
The highlight of this book for me was the enemies-to-lovers romance between Tansy, the cheerful florist, and Sawyer Haywood, the grumpy next-door neighbour. Their relationship is a joy to watch unfold and evolve. The banter between them is sharp and full of tension, and seeing them gradually move from enemies to something more felt both satisfying and endearing. Their chemistry is undeniable, and I found myself rooting for them every step of the way.
What really drew me in, though, was the continuation of the cosy, magical atmosphere from the first book. The cottage-core charm, the whimsical flower shop, and the sprinkle of magic that makes everything feel just a little extra special were all present here. It’s the kind of book you can curl up with on a quiet afternoon, where the world of enchantments and blossoming romance feels like a warm hug.
That being said, there were a few moments where the pacing lagged a little, and some secondary characters didn’t feel as developed as they could have been. But despite these small hiccups, the overall vibe of the story kept me engaged and smiling throughout.
If you enjoyed A Recipe for Magic and Mayhem, this sequel will definitely hit the spot. It continues the cosy, magical journey with a dash of romance that’s just enough to brighten your day. While it didn’t completely blow me away, it’s a heartwarming read that brought a lot of joy and a few laughs along the way.
Months since the Gemtower cracked, Tansy Fullbright is waiting to see how and if new magic will come to their village. With spring blooming Tansy’s biggest problem becomes the pest in her garden. Until the day she meets Sawyer Haywood, a new neighbour who has a habit of fixing his home up in the middle of the night. Frustrated, she goes to confront him and uncovers his truth. Afraid of who she may tell, Sawyer uses his magic to bind her from telling anyone. What begins as attempts to sabotage turns into a game of mischief and one upmanship. But as their tricks escalate, they grow closer and feelings start to take root.
I loved going back to the land of Ellamere, it's just so whimsical and cozy. And this new couple was so cute. The banter between Tansy and Sawyer was top notch and I loved their little prank war. They turn into the sweetest couple and I love his gift to her at the end. I am a bit worried about going forward in the series with the King and Prince but will have to wait and see. Can’t wait for the next book.

I loved this return to Ellamere! The quality of prose was delightful to read. Wallace is not overly flowery, but has a style reminiscent of fairy tales. The story pacing was spot on. I mean, I wish they were a little longer, but I do understand some books aren't meant to be massive, just lovely while they last. She fleshed out side characters from book one, more deeply into this book and of course added in a new love interest who was spunky and nothing like the love interest in book 1. I love the originality of this world and the story arcs. We aren't out of Ellemere books yet. There are enough snips and hints dropped to know there will be more coming eventually.
For me this was a page turner. Couldn't put it down, read it in like a day and a half while still sleeping and working my day job.
I honestly might have enjoyed and appreciated this one more than the first book! Don't get me wrong, I love both books very dearly and cannot wait for a third part to be released.
(Minor spoiler alert?) The chemistry between Tansy and Sawyer, however, was undeniable and so so fun to read. I enjoyed every second watching it unfold! In here, you get to see Deimos also finding his place in society and being happy and accepted, which was one of my nagging worries in book 1 when he chose to stay. Again, this book had a cheesy happy ending, but this is just one of those books where it'd just feel wrong if it didn't have a happy ending. I would definitely re-read this again when I have the need to feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Picking up not too long after the events of the first book, Where Mischief and Magic Blossom follows Tansy, the florist.
The second gemtower has fractured leading to more magic leaking into Ellamere. With it has come a new neighbor for Tansy, one who has been disturbing her sleep. Once they meet face-to-face, it sparks a prank war and a spark of begrudging respect.
Sweet with just a hint of spice and some lovely antics. Book 3 should be just as fun.
Tansy Fullbright has her hands full with her garden without something digging up her plants and someone else keeping her awake at night. Sawyer Haywood is as annoying as he's charming. I loved this story the characters are engaging and likable, the plot good and it was nice to catchup with characters from the previous book. The narration is great.
Adorable cozy town florist and the new neighbor that pushes her buttons. The prank war was hilarious. The new creatures we got to meet were fun. The language of flowers was so lovely. Big enjoy.
