Annan is part of a world she doesn't know exists. A world full of vampires, wear-animals, fae, and more; a world hidden from us all. Growing up in the sleepy town of Puyallup (pew-all-up), Washington Annan figured she was a regular girl—well mostly regular girl—like her friends, but after a tragic accident that ripped her loving, adopted, parents from her Annan is left alone to figure out who, and what, she is. Nearly six miserable years later a mysterious due comes to collect her. They hold all the answers to the questions Annan has held inside her, but in discovering the answers more questions arise and Annan soon learns that she is even more different then she could have ever imagined.
I'm dreamer and an indie author going at this alone with no editor and no beta readers so as of now my books do need work. However, I am often told my plot lines and characters are amazing. This is because I let the action and the dialogue drive the story, not lots sentences explaining what the protagonist is doing.
I don't write for teens, so if you read teen books often mine may be hard to understand. I try to write to CMOS, so if you read many books that are not, mine might be hard to understand.
However, if you love reading adult books with lots of emotion, steaminess, and action, you have come to the right place.
Please enjoy my books, many of which are free, and remember: they are not edited and they are for adults only, not for teens and not to be read as as though they were written for teens... In other words, these are no Twilight Sagas. :)
I had high hopes for this free book, given the premise of a town full of supernatural secrets and an enjoyably belligerent heroine, but it gets ludicrous really fast. Like just to make sure that Anan is the special-ist special that ever specialed, she's this werewolf-fae-vampire-eighth-dwarf hybrid. Okay, I made the dwarf thing up, but seriously, it's too much. Yet all that power doesn't help her notice her vamp and werewolf cousins shadowing her all her life. I didn't give up when the were pees on her couch, I dropped it when she falls in love with the vamp in the space of one car ride. If there's one thing the genre needs a break from, it's insta-love.
I found this book on Amazon for free so I figured I'd give it a try. Who doesnt love free right? I found that besides it needing some editing the book wasn't that bad, even enjoyable. I didn't struggle to get through it and it kept me entertained enough to read until the end and I even got the 2nd book right after to find out what happens next. So if its still free I would recommend getting it and trying it out, who knows maybe there will be a third book. I've found many good series this way by getting the first book for free and this is another I can add to my list.
I was a little concerned at the beginning as to where this story was going. I even thought about putting it down. Boy, was I glad I didn't. This book is really exciting. Each chapter seems to fill in who/what Annan is. I will keep an eye on this one.
The timeline jumped around without adding anything of value to the story. Some authors handle that sort of thing well, and it adds a certain perspective and depth...this author didn't do that. The world building was handled via info dump rather than actual storytelling. The characters were all caricatures of tropes rather than fully formed people in and of themselves. There was no reason to emotionally invest in any of the characters and the plot was lacklustre. I'm mad that I wasted my time on this and I'm adding this author to my "do not read again" list.
Quite a fun story, but utterly ruined by the appalling spelling and grammatical errors. With some decent editing and proof reading, it could be good. I was also frustrated by it ending on a massive cliff hanger. I certainly won’t be bothering with any more of this author’s books.
RoxAnne Fox has a great imagination that makes the storyline of this book flow quickly and make you keep reading to the end. The only problems are the punctuation and grammar mistakes that slow your reading.
I liked this book a lot except I'm not to fond of Annan, yet. So far she comes across as a spoiled smart as. It did change toward the end. I can't wait to read the next in the series.
On the plus side it had some good ideas and I could see a world building in the background that I wanted to explore deeper, however I found the narrator really annoying and don't get me started on the sudden sexual awakening...
I know we are meant to all swoon for Sean and find him all dreamy but is anyone else just a little bit concerned that she is 23 and he is 80-ish and has been guarding her all her life. He tells her that as soon as she started to bleed (at 16) he new that she was his mate. Really that doesn't seem like your creepy stalker uncle becoming obsessed with you now you have become a woman, his woman. Shudder! I skipped right over the sex scenes.
Also why does it end when it does, we're only just starting to warm up and get to the big event when the book ends. I get that the author wants to make this a series of books, but each book should have a beginning middle and end in of itself or it's just not satisfying.
However, now that I've got that off my chest, I have to admit I'll probably read the next book. The author has something and that's where the frustration comes in. I read on her profile that she has no editor and no beta readers. That's a big shame because with a bit of help I think she could write some really good fantasy.
Very good book for an indie author who uses no editor or beta readers. If she used an editor this would be perfect, but compared to other editor free indie books this is amazing. The plot keeps you reading and I like the way the story is broken up. She ends on a cliffhanger the way some TV shows do and left me wanting more.

The novel had an interesting storyline but there were too many grammatical errors. It made reading and being able to enjoy the read very difficult. Annie is a very stubborn heroine but also funny. She makes the story. Let's not forget Korbane. He's too goofy not to love. If my perspective of Sean being the hero is correct, his character is all wrong. He's portrayed as too soft and submissive. This could be a great novel with more editing.
The storyline is well written with a lot mystery on what can possibly happen next. You never see the crazy until it's too late. Sean takes the sensitive role in this love affair, something you don't usually see from our male counterparts. Annan is pure male persona that's still trying to figure out who she is and not ready to be tied down, but is definitely enjoying the sex.
I tried really hard to like this novel, but amidst the bad writing, terrible editing, annoying narrator, flat humor, and frankly boring storyline, it was a slog to get through. Urban fantasy should be interesting by its very nature, so I don't know how the author managed to bypass it at every step.
The author needs a better editor but other than that the novel was pretty good. It was too short and should of been made into one novel I believe but I was impressed by what I saw.
