The cover, ablaze with a flaming quill, hints at the fervor within, and Kolenda delivers brilliantly, blending historical narrative with profound theology.
Imagine sitting in a dimly lit room as Paul, scarred and intense, dictates his fiery epistle to Tertius. Kolenda’s vivid prose brings this scene to life—Paul pacing, his voice thundering with conviction, shattering pottery to symbolize broken lives under the law. It’s a masterful storytelling feat, making Galatians feel urgent and alive rather than a distant text. The dialogue between Paul and Tertius adds depth, humanizing the apostle and mirroring our own questions, while chapters like “The Curse” and “The Tree” unpack Christ’s substitutionary death with poetic clarity.
Theologically, Furious shines as a celebration of grace over legalism. Kolenda exposes the Judaizers’ threat to the gospel, urging readers to embrace freedom from self-righteousness and ritual bondage. His insights, drawn from Scripture and decades of experience, resonate deeply in today’s performance-driven world, making this a manifesto for spiritual liberty. The book’s structure, mirroring Galatians chapter by chapter, suits both devotional reading and study, yet it stands as a thrilling narrative.
As a missionary evangelist, Kolenda infuses Furious with contagious zeal, calling readers to reject bondage and live as “new creations.” The emotional layers—Paul’s vulnerability, Tertius’s awe—elevate the text, leaving you inspired by the final “big letters.” This isn’t dry exposition; it’s a battle cry that reignites the early church’s fire.
Furious is a triumph—spiritually explosive. Whether you’re a believer seeking renewal or a seeker craving authentic faith, this book is essential. Kolenda has crafted a timeless gift that burns with eternal truth. Don’t just read it—live it.
Evangelist Daniel Kolenda has done it again! I could not put the book down once I started to read it. All of his books are well structured and easy to read because of the clear and consistent flow of ideas and thoughts; and, secondly, because they usually have a warm and friendly tone which lets me know that he truly wants me to get the “nectar” or “meat” out of the book. I did!
I like the conversational style of this book. It made it easy to understand each person’s point of view or perspective. The message was clear. The point of view of the characters was clear. Usually, this type of book is written with a commentary tone with theological connotations and jargons that makes it very difficult to “chew on.” The conversational style made this book easy to dissect, chew on, and digest.
For the first time, I understand who a “Judaizer” is. Thank you, Pastor Daniel, for the opportunity to learn the teachings in the book of Galatians once AGAIN! You made it clear to me that Peter’s vision of the “forbidden animals” was not about abstaining from these things. It was about accepting the Gentiles as descendants of the FREE WOMAN. In fact, the bible tells us, in Galatians 4:31, “…We (meaning Jews and Gentiles) are not children or the slave woman, but, of the free woman.” What a powerful revelation! I truly understand why Paul was so FURIOUS about the church’s misunderstanding of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, not works!
Readers: WARNING: Be prepared to have peace knowing that you don’t have to be a slave to sin or the law anymore. Because whom the son sets free, is FREE, INDEED! (John 8:36) that’s why Paul urged the church to: “stand fast and be not held again under the yoke of bondage.” (Galatians 5:1, Douay-Rheims Bible).
***THANK YOU, PASTOR DANIEL 4 HITTING THE BULLS EYE with this in-depth teaching on the book of Galatians!
Pastor/Evangelist Daniel Kolenda is a brilliant communicator, but this writing hit me on a whole new level. It felt like sitting alongside Paul himself, watching the writing of Galatians come alive in a way I’ve never experienced before. At times I had to stop and just sit with certain chapters, letting God do His work in me before moving on.
The spirit of wisdom and revelation flows through these pages even as it’s written in fiction form. It’s not just a book you read; it’s one you soak in. Honestly, it’s going to be a while before I can pick up another book because I need to keep marinating in this one. And if I’m being honest, probably a soon read again.
Daniel Kolenda has truly caught the heart of God on the relaying of this letter. He has found a fresh and humble way to invite us into Paul’s words, and it’s changed how I see and continue daily to live them out.
Thank you, Pastor Daniel, for being obedient to release this. Furious is more than a read, it’s an encounter. This is a book I’ll come back to again and again.
This is a review of the audiobook version. Kolenda is a brilliant guy. He does something in Furious that I have never heard of. He attempts to capture the historical context and humanity that is packed into Paul’s letter to the Galatians by dramatizing the composition of the epistle. He offers commentary on the Biblical text via theoretical dialogue between Paul and his scribe. It is a refreshingly unique perspective on biblical commentary that sheds light on the internal convictions and motives of Paul based on the historical/cultural context from the book of Acts and first century Greco-Roman history. As you read this book (or listen to it. Which includes soothing cultural music, imaginative sound effects, and skilled voice actors) you “meet” Paul. Not so much the venerated apostle or esteemed Saint, but Paul the human being. The man who loved the gospel with abandon and also hated those who opposed or twisted it: this is Paul the author of the Furious gospel.
Loved this modern re-telling of Paul's fight for the gospel and his letter to the Galatians. The story is told from Paul to his scribe Tertius and you hear the conviction from Paul as he composes this letter. I truly appreciated the setting of the scene, and the added nuances incorporated as the story progresses. Great Book!!!
