Знову як і в "Плутократах" (хоча і автори різні) книга сильно орієнтована на читачів зі США. Також, хоч матеріал і подається в певній структурі, багато повторів. Часом навіть здається що вже читав цей уривок. Книга не для всіх, буде цікава урбаністам та іншим кому цікава тема міста і транспорту у ньому. На відміну від форми по суті книга дуже чітко і ясно показує як у містах формується транспортна система, що відбувалось раніше, які помилки робили і досі роблять різні міста і врешті які існують загальні рекомендації для створення траспортної системи міста або агломерації зручної для всіх мешканців. Незважаючи на недосконалий текст, зобов'язав би прочитати і тримати на столі всім керівникам транспортних департаментів (та і мерам також) великих міст та агломерацій.

Excellent book for understanding modern trends in the development of transport systems! Despite the fact that the book was written by the professor for a relatively long time, many provisions of his work remain relevant until now. Дуже корисна книга для тих, хто розуміє, що з транспортом в наших містах щось не так. Автор дуже переконливо і чітко розтавить по місцях все, що роїться у вашому мозку. Чому не так, як цьому запобігти, як це виправити і якими засобами можна спробувати зробити місто, в якому ви живете, зручним та комфортним.

Although it's a bit outdated (published in 1999), this is a very good review of urban transportation issues and why and what sort of public transportation is needed to make cities work for everyone.


As a side note, I'm a bit surprised how popular this book is with speakers of languages written in Cyrillic, judging from the reviews....
