When Verity Long agrees to be her sister’s maid of honor, she expects wedding cake and champagne—not a dead hostess, a cursed honeymoon suite, and a ghostly bride reliving her tragic final moments. With a killer on the loose, a ballroom full of restless spirits, and Frankie stirring up trouble with a rogue ghost hunter, Verity must race to uncover the truth before Melody’s dream wedding becomes her worst nightmare.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Angie Fox writes sweet, fun, action-packed mysteries. Her characters are clever and fearless, but in real life, Angie is afraid of basements, bees, and going up stairs when it is dark behind her. Let’s face it. Angie wouldn’t last five minutes in one of her books.
Angie is best known for her SOUTHERN SPIRITS™ mysteries, and for her ACCIDENTAL DEMON SLAYER books.
Garters, Ghosts, and Wedding Toasts by Angie Fox Southern Ghost Hunter mystery series #15. Cozy paranormal. Best read if familiar with series. Melody is getting married. A new wedding venue in Jackson offered top chef prepared food, accommodations, flowers and more in exchange for photo rights. A deal too good to pass up. Verity and boyfriend Ellis, plus ghost mobster Frankie, and pet skunk Lucy, all head to Jackson for the all expenses paid weekend. Unfortunately, the historic mansion has a history of grooms falling off a balcony before the ceremony. Verity and Frankie work with a few former cons while Ellis investigates any physical evidence he can find. Can they prevent Melody’s groom falling to his death? Danger mounts as a dead body is found and the wedding gets closer.
Ghosts, gems, gowns, and gangsters. A fast adventure for Verity and Frankie figuring out the past secrets of the mansion from the local ghosts. Loved the intimacy of the buffet breakfast that Verity and Ellis share in this story. We don’t get a lot of their long running romance since it’s a mystery series but it was sweet and romantic and adorable. And of course, congrats to Melody on her marriage! And Lucy gets a new friend. Awww.
I received an early copy from the author. I purchased a ecopy and an audiobook copy to keep.
Verity’s sister is about to have her dream wedding at a historic Irish castle brought over stone by stone to settle in the next town over. Trouble is Melody’s wedding venue is haunted and grooms have a tendency to die messily off the honeymoon suite balcony. Verity’s got two days to get to the bottom of the ghost mystery while Frankie is off trying to heist the stolen Irish Crown Jewels. Angie Fox’s Southern Ghost Hunter series was my first foray into the paranormal cozy mystery genre and remains one of my favorite series even fifteen books into the series.
My full review will post at Caffeinated Reviewer TBA.
Garters, Ghosts and Wedding Toasts is the 15th book in Angie Fox’s Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries series. I’ve been reading this series from the start and I have thoroughly enjoyed most of them. This new book is definitely one of my favorites in the series. It’s always fun visiting Sugarland and its residents, and who doesn’t like attending a wedding. This time around we get to make a trek out of town to a historic mansion in Jackson, Tennessee. When Verity’s sister, Melody, gets a seemingly too good to be true offer of a free weekend at the historic mansion for her wedding, what could go wrong?
The historic, and of course haunted, wedding venue has seen grooms not make it to the altar. This time around Verity must work to keep her former nemesis and Melody’s betrothed, Alec, from falling to the same fate. With an assist from her boyfriend Ellis and her bound gangster ghost Frankie they’ll examine the history and paranormal goings on that led to the prior deaths, while investigating the all too human attempts on the life of the current groom-to-be.
This was another time when the book was hard to put down and I had to force myself to stop to drag out the enjoyment a little longer and give my eyes a rest. I still finished reading it in 2 days, but could have easily finished in just one. The action moves the story along at a perfect pace and the humor makes the ride extra enjoyable. As usual our adorable little Lucy has some great scenes and this time around even gains a new furry friend that we’ll be lucky if we get to see more of in the future.
I admit I am a huge fan of The Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries series and this new installment is another fun one throughout. For some reason the back-and-forth between Verity and Frankie annoyed me a bit this time, but still overall the story was enjoyable. I find it's always best if you’ve read the prior books to fully understand the character relationships. However, if you haven’t read any of the series, this can easily be read as a standalone, as Angie does a great job of giving just enough backstory. I highly recommend this book along with the rest of the series.

I was provided with an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion review.
Verity Long agrees to be her sister’s maid of honor. She never anticipated the wedding to be held at a haunted location, one where the grooms die the night before the ceremony. Verity does what every ghost-hunter extraordinaire does: she investigates the matter. If only her ghostly gangster sidekick would stop causing trouble with the local sprits. Can Verity discover the truth before Alec becomes the venue’s next tragic victim?
First, I want to say how freaking happy I am that Ellis has an active role in this story. In the past, I have voiced my disappointment about his limited appearance. I have missed his interactions with Verity and her ghost hunting. I hope he appears more in book sixteen!
Verity is such an amazing sister. Despite the differences she and Alec have had in the past, she prioritized his safety. She wanted to ensure that Melody got her dream wedding. And that meant eliminating the ghostly threat against the groom.
Frankie annoyed me with this book. When I thought he was becoming a decent person, he regresses back to a selfish jerk. I did not like how Frankie caused Verity unneeded aggravation and stress during the investigation.
GARTERS, GHOSTS, AND WEDDING TOASTS is the fifteenth book in Angie Fox’s paranormal romance series, SOUTHERN GHOST UNTER MYSTERIES. I cannot stress enough the importance of reading the prior books before this one. They cover Verity’s start as a ghost hunter, her mistakes and growth along the way, and her bond with her spectral partner. They also show how Melody met Alec and the development of their relationship.
And I love how, at the end, the author sets the tone for the next installment.
This time Verity is the matron of honour at the wedding of her sister Melody, who is marrying Verity's ex arch-nemesis Alec from the Sugarland police force. It is to be held in a haunted house in neighbouring Jackson where twice the groom has died the night before their wedding - 100 and 50 years ago, with the anniversary this weekend. She is accompanied by her boyfriend Ellis and as ever by Lucy, her pet skunk, plus Frankie, the ghost of a mobster who has both helped and hindered her previously. Can she make sure that Alec survives for the wedding and also solve the riddle of the hauntings? I always look forward to reading the latest book in this series, although you should really read the previous books first, partly so you can understand the back stories but mainly because these are some of my favourite books. Frankie is his normal sneaky self, looking for opportunities to grab some swag even though he's dead and can't actually keep it. There are also other ghosts to add to the action plus the mystery behind the previous deaths and who was responsible for them, plus the danger of Alec joining them. There is even a touch of romance for Lucy. A wonderful blend of cosy mystery and the supernatural all with a touch of humour, highly recommended. I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however this did not influence my review of the book.
I absolutely adore this world, the characters, and all the hijinks they get up to. Of course, Verity’s life is not simple or easy, so why should her sister’s wedding be any different?
So, for good or bad, Verity’s sister is in love with someone who used to be Verity’s arch-nemesis. While he may still be skeptical of her ghost business, I believe he’s finally bent enough to fit into Verity’s life. On what seems like a normal day for Verity, her sister surprises her by agreeing to get married in a few days out of town and at a historic location. Historic obviously means haunted, but this crew is used to managing mayhem.
As usual, Verity brings her ghost, her detective skills, her supportive boyfriend, and hopes to give her sister the perfect day. When they arrive, things are not looking so hot. There’s angry ghosts, murder, missing jewels, lots of gangsters, and way too many suspects. I definitely did not guess any of the mysteries, so bravo there! This book somehow manages to blend this genuine feeling of family, romance, and a really engaging murder mystery. After the rollercoaster ride of a wedding, we also get a super fun ending with all the feelings. This book was such a treat to read, and I can’t wait to see more from Verity and crew!
Love is in the air. Verity’s sister Melody is given the opportunity to have a dream wedding in a lavish venue in Jackson and she isn’t about to turn it down. They now have two days to plan the perfect wedding for Melody and Alec. And to find a way to escape the curse on the bridal suite that has claimed the life of two grooms to be 50 years apart. To. The. Day. Just another day for Verity and her ghost sidekick Frankie the German. What could go wrong? Gangsters, skunks, and poltergeists, oh my! The 15th book in the southern ghost hunter series is true to the series with more laughs, more danger, and more skunks than ever! As they investigate the curse on this wedding venue and learn there is a poltergeist involved, they encounter dead gangsters, and suspects around every corner. Will 2 days be enough to solve the mystery of the curse or will the curse claim Alec before he can say “I do”? I love this series for the laughs and suspense. I love the characters and the adventure. I look forward to as many book as Angie will write about Verity and the gang. I just ask please please please do not make us wait too long for that scene that almost happened at the end of this one. You have to read it to find out. 5 stars for Weddings, Ghosts and Wedding Toasts!
Garters, Ghosts, and Wedding Toasts by Angie Fox is an entertaining tale. I always look forward to visiting Sugarland, Tennessee where I can catch up with Verity, Frankie, Ellis, Lucy along with the rest of their family and friends. Verity’s sister, Melody, is getting married at a historic and, you guessed it, haunted mansion in Sugarland’s rival town, Jackson (can things get any worse—of course they can). Verity has her work cut out for her this time around. I enjoyed the action, humor, and hijinks. Lucy makes a friend and gets into a lot of mischief, much to Verity’s dismay (it is hilarious). Although I was aware of the perpetrator's identity prior to the discovery of the victim, the mystery remained engaging and amusing. I laughed, chuckled, and giggled while reading this mirthful story. Garters, Ghosts, and Wedding Toasts is the fifteenth book in the Southern Ghost Hunter Series. You can read this story on its own, but reading the series in order helps you understand the characters and their relationships better. Garters, Ghosts, and Wedding Toasts is a spirited story with moonshine lessons, a rushed wedding, pilfered jewels, a doomed groom, ghost heists, bachelor party merriment, and, hopefully, a happily ever after.
Yayy book 15! Been waiting so long for this one (*cough* not that long *cough*)
Note......read the other books before this one. Lots of references, etc.
The time has come for Verity's sister to get married! Verity hopes it will be a calm and beautiful wedding weekend filled with cake and champagne. But alas, that will not be the case.....the honeymoon suite is cursed, there is a ghostly bride reliving her tragic moments, a killer is on the loose, Frankie is causing trouble, and secrets everywhere. It will be up to Verity and team to find the truth and stop Melody's man from being the next victim.
Always a blast. I simply love Verity and her crew.
Loved the mysteries. So many red herrings and so many people (and ghosts) with motives. Who knows! I had zero idea until close to the end.
I'm still a little on the fence about our new narrator. This is her second one, and I am still feeling pouty about it. I loved our old voice, but this one is doing okay. Maybe the next book I'll finally settle in with her voice. Sighs.
But yes, so much fun. Great characters. A fun local change. Wedding. Love. Ghosts. What more can you ask for?
Garters, Ghosts and Wedding Toasts is book 15 of the Southern Ghost Hunter Mystery series. I love this cozy series. It is an automatic buy for me as soon as I see a new one come out. This book was really fun. It took place in a nearby town during Verity's sister's wedding weekend. Lucy even made a new friend. I am always bummed when I finish these books because it means I have to wait another year for the next one. I'm happy to say that after book 15, this series is still entertaining and hasn't gone stale. I recommend this series for anyone who enjoys cozy mysteries. The first 13 books were narrated by Tavia Gilbert who I like quite a bit. Starting with book 14, there has been a narrator change. It is a bit of a struggle with Frankie's voice, since Tavia made it very distinct, and I miss that, but overall, I don't have any complaints for Hollie's narration. I think she does a lovely job, and I'm sure it isn't easy stepping in to narrate a well established series that has been voiced by someone else for 13 books already. Overall, I am giving this book 5 stars. The short time I get to spend in the book feels like coming home again.
Angie Fox - Garters, Ghosts, and Wedding Toasts I can’t express how much I love this series and while I think I say every time that “this one is the best”, I think it’s because Angie keeps making the books better all the time. I especially love the many new laugh-out-loud funny comments. Angie has really upped the humorous lines and observations that Verity makes about every character from her boyfriend Ellis, Frankie the 1920’s ghost gangster, and her sister Melody’s upcoming wedding, to Lucy, Verity’s pet skunk. Lucy has a bigger, well-deserved role in this book and no spoiler, a new friend. She and her friend are at times instrumental in helping to solve this huge mystery. If Verity and her team can’t solve the many twisty mysteries in time, Melody’s wedding is on the line for either a horrible ending or something fantastic and epic. Spoiler alert! x x x x x x x A crying-happy-tears ending and a wonderful tie-up gives everyone a feel-good feeling! And that’s a huge reason I love Angie’s books!
Ghosts, Ghosts and more Ghosts. Verity and Ellis are the very happy Best Man and Maid of Honor for Melody and Alec Duranja. Melody has been the lucky recipient of a luxury wedding package. But… and there is always a but... the wedding will be in two days. Verity has been informed that the wedding venue is haunted so, of course, Frankie is invited to the wedding. A series of deaths had occurred at this venue when it was an old Irish Manor house. Verity needed to settle the question of possible ghost involvement in the deaths. Frankie, however, is having the time of his death. It seems he knows three of the ghosts. They are gangster “frenemies”? They have all taken their turns trying to steal from or kill each other. You know, as you do. But the killing hasn’t stopped. Evidence is going missing. And the wedding party is landing right in the middle of the investigation. Oh dear. Who has time to get married now?
As a longtime fan of all The Southern Ghost Hunter series, this was my absolute favorite. It had all the characters I’ve grown to love in it. And Verity and Ellis together as a couple, squee! I always love every scene with Ellis! The setting is at a mansion for Melody‘s wedding to Alex, which is of course haunted. Verity must solve the ghostly mystery to keep the groom safe for the wedding, with some help from all her friends, human and ghosts. We get some usual hijinx from Frankie, her ghostly cohort, and some cute scenes with Lucy, pet skunk (did I catch a clue to what is happening with Lucy in the future!?!)
Great series… as always can be read as a standalone, but I think you would get more out of it if you read from the beginning of the series as the characters have a lot of background together. I loved it and excited with the sneak peek at the end of this one!
I have loved every book in the Southern Ghost Hunter series. Garters, Ghosts, and Wedding Toasts was no exception.
It was such a joy to be back with Verity and her friends (and Skunk!). This time around, her sister Melody jumps at the chance of a free wedding, and, of course, ghostly and murderous chaos ensues!
This book was a lot of fun. There was a host of excellent suspects, a number of ghosts, not to mention wedding guests etc. I very much enjoyed watching Verity juggle all these things and try to keep her soon to be brother in law safe. As usual, she managed it.
Overall, this book was a joy to read, an excellent addition to a favourite series. I can’t wait to read Verity’s next adventure.
I was given a copy of this book, my opinions are my own.
I can say that this was one of my favorite in this series. Not only does Verity, Frankie and Ellis are in this spookiest book. We get to read and follow Lucy Verity's , oh so lovable little curious pet skunk even has her own adventure. Now please resist the urge to be fine your own. You just might need a lot of tomato juice. I do love the relationship between Verity and Frankie. Can be describe similar to the odd couple. Yet this book we find not only Frankie but addition. Some of Frankie's old "work associates" are on board to help. Yet they still have to get something in return. But with time ticking away can Verity and her rag tag group, can find out who/what killed the 2 grooms.. Before Alec & Melody 's wedding night.
Everyone ready for a romance, ghost filled time? Then you've come to the right place. In the latest installment of Sugarland's favorite ghost hunter, we get to travel for a destination wedding. No not Verity and Ellis, we're still waiting for that. But Melody, Verity's sister received an offer she can't refuse. A free wedding at a beautiful estate, complete with ghosts, mystery, stolen jewels and murder. But of course there is romance and not just the bride and groom. I don't want to give anything away but our favorite skunk Lucy is really a star in this one. And I'll admit to laughing out loud at some of her antics. As always Angie Fox has taken us on a wonderful journey. This is a great way to escape from the winter and have some fun .
Loved this book! This series (I’ve read them all) has so many fun things: a quirky heroine who can see ghosts, her hunky deputy sheriff boyfriend, her adorable pet, her sweet sister and a gangster ghost who is stuck to her rose bush! With Verity’s ghost-seeing abilities, she has changed her career from graphic designer to ghost detective. This fifteenth book in the series is chocked full of adventures. Verity’s sister is getting married and the ghosts are not behaving. Verity is constantly “putting out fires” to try and keep Melody’s perfect wedding weekend from imploding! It’s an easy read with lots of action (and romance) to keep your attention!
Oh my gosh, y'all, this is the best one yet!!! I absolutely adore this whole series, but this one blew me away! Melody and Alec are given a chance at their dream wedding-for free- for promoting a nearby venue. But, the venue is said to be haunted, and the would-be grooms die the night before the wedding. Can Verity figure who is haunting the estate, and why. Are the attempts on Alec's life part of the 100 year old mystery? Numerous suspects, and lots of story twists will keep you guessing, and turning pages until the very end. I can't wait for the next one!!
In this latest installment, Verity and company travel to a nearby rival town for her sister's wedding. Frankie is up to his old tricks with some gangster friends, while Verity has a mystery to solve before Melody's big day. Chaos ensues!
I really enjoyed Verity's newest adventure, and it was nice to see the continuance of Duranja's redemption arc. I admit, I was never a big fan of his character, but he and Verity seem to have forged a friendship at last.
This book is a fun read and a nice light mystery. These books are always a good time.
This was fabulous!! i loved it!! Verity must save her sister's wedding which is not easy not several ghosts are on the premise....Frankie is hoping to steal crown jewels while Verity must discover why grooms died 50y apart to avoid Alec having the same fate.
I loved how Ellis was supportive and romantic....Frankie as always is up to no good but hide a good heart. Verity was so determined to save Melody big day....
Simply it was perfect, moving, funny with a great investigation, a good humour dosis;a must read!
I can never say enough good things about Angie Fox. Everything she writes I devour! It is a wonderful change of pace to read her ghost hunter books. There’s always a hint of romance but it’s not thrown in your face or just ridiculous overdone even when there is a wedding involved. As always gotta love Frankie. His crassness is hilarious, but it’s also obvious that he cares about his friends, the living and the ghosts. I love the addition of a possible love interest for one of the more spunky characters. You will have to read to find out what I mean! Highly recommended per usual!
Every time I read a new book in this series I think it's the best one. This one has it all but the tears. Verity Long's sister has been chosen to be the bride for a start up venue in a neighboring town... an old haunted Irish mansion. Haunted by someone who "offs" the future bridegrooms on the night before their weddings...2 have happened 50 years apart and of course it's the night before Melody and Alec's wedding AND the 100 anniversary of the first murder. What could go wrong? Verity is there with Frankie the German in tow and they are set to save Alec and the wedding! LOVED it!!
I’ve been reading this author for so long, I can’t even remember when I first started. However, I know I’ve enjoyed every book including this latest. I’m not sure why, but every once in a while, Verity and Frankie get on my nerves with their bickering, and this is one of those books. Don’t get me wrong, I still love them, and I quite enjoyed this book, but they need to get along better. LOL! However, besides that, I really enjoyed this latest, and I’m ready to read the next installment after that powerful ending. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
I love this series. I also love it when Verify goes out of town. This was a wedding that no-one will forget for a long time. I enjoyed the mystery and the ghosts in this book. Lucy and her new friend were also a lot of fun to read about. In my opinion, this is a winning combination of characters that are not perfect, but I want them to do well and live happily ever after eventually. I ended up feeling good, but OMG I can't wait for the next book.
This is book #15 in Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries. Melody, Verity’s sister, is getting married and the gang is invited along for the ride. The venue is a beautiful haunted mansion. Unfortunately, a groom dies there every 50 years. Verity and Frankie have to work with other gangsters to try and solve the mystery. Let’s just say team work is not a common theme among gangsters! Verity and Ellis get some much needed romance time, and Lucy finds a boyfriend. A fun , fast paced book.
Garters, Ghosts and Wedding Toasts is a Southern Ghost Hunters series book written by Angie Fox. This series is one you need to read EVERY BOOK of! I am so attached to Verity and Lucy and even old Frankie the ghost gangster! Sugarland is the place to be for sure! Join the gang and their guys as Melody is trying to get married and Verity is trying to keep anyone from dying…. Again! You will never regret the time spent with these characters, only that the books end way too soon!
And, once again, it'll be extremely difficult to wait for the next installment!!! Great story, with plenty of twists and turns, entertainment, humor, thrills - I mean, what's going to happen with Lucy's new boyfriend? As well as finding the killer and sorting out the ghosts! Plus the superior editing, proper grammar, words used & spelled correctly, punctuation, and more! Recommend Highly for a fun brain break!!!
Wow! Its been awhile since I was so engrossed in a book that I read it all in one day. This one might be my favorite in the series, I don't know but its up there. This book kept me guessing on every page, and the surprises never stopped all the way to the end. I am not so patiently waiting for the next book already.
I received my copy in exchange for an honest review.
Let me start by saying I love everything Angie Fox and this book is no exception! It’s the fabulous next instalment in the Southern Ghost Hunter series. It has all of our favourite characters, including Lucy. It has new ghosts, a fantastic setting and the story starts right away. Give these books a read. You won’t be disappointed! Signed, a very happy reader. ❤️
What an absolutely fun romp from Angie Fox! Not only did we get the romance of a wedding AND an animal pairing, but we got four gangster ghosts, a poltergeist, and a murder with plenty of suspects. This book is everything we've come to expect from Fox, and I will be pre-ordering the next one as soon as it's available.
