Colton doesn’t do commitments, not in relationships, and definitely not with fate. Between taking over his family’s BBQ restaurant and enduring a string of failed dates, he has enough on his plate. But when he accidentally injures what he thinks is a stray dog while taking out the trash, he quickly realizes two one, the stray is actually a shifter, and two, fate has a twisted sense of humor—because Remy is his mate. Remy has never truly belonged, not to his old pack and certainly not to a mate like Colton. Homeless and struggling to get by, he’s spent his life being told he’s not enough. So when Colton offers him a job, it feels too good to be true, just like the heat between them. But just as Remy starts to believe he might finally have a place to call home, his old pack comes knocking, and his alpha promises things will be different this time.
With his past pulling him back and his heart urging him forward, Remy has to return to the pack that never truly wanted him or take a chance on a future with the man who just might.
Colton is the fifth book in the Pecan Pines series.
This is a good book. I will give it a 3/5. It was not awesome but not bad at all. There were some issues in the book that were not addressed in my opinion. This book is a love story.
This is book 5 in the Pecan Pines series. It can be enjoyed as a standalone read. This is the story of Colton and Remy. Colton runs his family’s BBQ restaurant , Briggs Barbecue. He is busy working and his an abysmal dating record. Remy is a former member of the troublesome Thornebane pack. He had come to town due to the summit and decided to just stay. He never felt comfortable nor wanted with his old pack. And I think that lack of security is what gave him shifting difficulties. Not to mention that his old alpha abused him as well. Even though he is no longer around, Remy didn't trust the change that was supposed to happen in his old pack. So he has been living in his car and scavenging for food. His old pack reinforced the idea that Remy was useless and that no one would ever want him. The two meet when Remy is dumpster diving for food from the restaurant and Colton accidentally injures him while taking out the trash. Colton immediately feel awful about the incident and wants to make it up to Remy. Remy asks for a job and Colton makes it happen. Colton realizes that Remy is his fated mate but does nothing overtly about it. He realizes that Remy has to feel safe and that he has a new home first. This is their story. The book is written well and is easy to read. I really liked how Remy and Colton slowly got to know and trust each other. I was so happy that Remy finally found a place to call home. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Sometimes fate has to make a believer out of us and boy do we see that in this one so hang on you put it down until the last page has been turned. Remy is sweet but hasn’t had it easy escaping a pack who didn’t appreciate him putting it mildly, living out of his car, finding food in the dumpster behind the restaurant and while looking for food is hurt when the trash is thrown on top of him by his mate unbeknownst to him. Colton is running his packs local bbq place he hasn’t ever done relationships especially after the few he had failed, he is supper busy doesn’t have the time or mental patience to put into a relationship or so he tells himself so he works, until he takes the garbage out one evening throws it into the dumpster and hurts what he thought was a stray dog but it ends up being his mate. The more time they spent around each other the stronger the pull between them grew especially after his mate starts working with him at the bbq place but when Remy’s old pack come calling with the alpha claiming things will be different will he return home or will he keep the job he has been given, the independence away from the pack that mistreated him, will his mate accept him as a mate, has he found a place where he belongs, and will they find happiness?
'Someone actually looked out for me— not because they had to, but just because they wanted to. It was weird, almost like getting a glimpse of something I’d stopped hoping for.'
I absolutely loved this book. It was such a sweet hurt/comfort romance. I loved both Colton and Remy. Remy was precious and I wish I could have hugged him. Even before knowing the extent of what he's been though, you just want to protect him, feed him, and keep him safe and warm. Being unable to control his shifts was interesting. I've read stories with characters unable to shift forms or having a lot of problems doing so, but it happening at random regardless of will was intriguing. That he was made to feel worthless, overlooked, or rejected and abused broke my heart. I loved how kind and protective Colton was of him. That his heart compelled him not to leave his side at the clinic, even though he was a complete stranger.
'There was no reason for me to be here. No excuse for the way I sat by his bedside like some overprotective idiot waiting for him to wake up. And yet, I didn’t move.'
I was immediately hooked to the story. This turned out to be my favorite in the series so far. 5 stars.
"I wasn’t the kind of guy who got attached to strangers. I didn’t do this—whatever this was."
This is book 5 in the Pecan Pines series by Fel Fern and Kara Kitt. Since I read the other four books in the series, it was a no-brainer to pick this one up on Booksprout as well.
This story is about Colton the pack member that runs the local barbecue place, Briggs Barbecue, and Remy, from the troublesome Thornebane pack. After all the mess at the summit, Remy takes this as an opportunity to sneak away and doesn't return home with the rest of his pack. He's never felt wanted there and they've always treated him badly. Even though there's a new Alpha he's afraid it's too late for his pack members to change their attitudes concerning him.
Fated mates, living rough, hiding out, shifting anxiety, who doesn't love a bottomless barbecue night
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Colton, and how he meets his mate Remi. Remi had escaped his old pack and was living in his car and dumpster diving behind Colton’s restaurant until one day, Colton takes the trash out and throws it on top of Remi, knocking him out. Before long, Colton realises that he is his mate and offers him a job and before long they are mated and go onto live happily ever after.

Remy a wolf shifter with difficulty shifting left his pack and found his way to Pecan Pines. He has been living in his car and savaging for food. Colton owner of a barbecue restaurant finds Remy in his dumpster after throwing the days trash away. This is a sweet love story, with interesting characters and unusual circumstances.

This is another good addition to the Pecan Pines series, I really enjoyed Colton and Remy’s story and liked how patient Colton was with Remy letting him sort out his own emotions without overpowering him. I’m hoping there’s more to come from Pecan Pines soon.
This one took me a little bit to get into but it was entertaining and worth reading. I appreciated how things developed for Colton and Remy. I was glad Remy finally found a good place to call home along with his mate.
I'm so glad that Colton found his mate, Shane, especially since he felt like he'd never find someone who was special for him like his two brothers have. This was very entertaining as well as riveting in some portions of the story. The characters were likable and engaging (except for the villain, of course) :) and the storyline held me enthralled until the wonderful end. Very enjoyable. =)
I loved Colton and Shane's book. It was awesome to see Shane have no concerns about being safe with Colton from the very beginning, despite all of Colton's efforts to be intimidating. It was fun seeing Shane learn that he wasn't a coward and that he didn't have to take Pierce's attacks laying down.
Finally that last brother got mated, and was pleased when his mate contacted him. Even if it was not for the reason he thought, but to help him out of a dangerous situation. This book was just as great as the others, I'll be looking forward to reading more.
Fantastic book and I really enjoyed it. My heart broke for Remy and the position he found himself in. He needed someone on his side, to finally see him and Colton was perfect for him.
Remy slowly opened his heart to not only Colton but a new pack.
