There is not much to this story. Unbeknownst to each other, Alexei and Mable have been romantically attracted to each other for three years. Mable is very insecure about her looks, doubts that she would fit in his social circle, and doesn't think she is Alexei's type...white, blond haired and blue eyes. Alexei suspects that Mable is attracted to him but thinks he attracted to someone else and refuses to approach him or give any indication that she's attracted to him. The reason my rating is low is because the story left me feeling cheated. Alexei is a billionaire Russian business man and Mable is his assistant. They've each wanted the other for three years and when Mable heard Alexei making weekend plans with who she assumed was his girlfriend, she wrote a resignation letter giving a two week notice and left it on her desk to give to Alexei the next day. The only problem is that Alexei found it that same evening and showed up to Mable's apartment and proceeded to show her exactly why she actually wasn't going anywhere that didn't include Alexei even in her apartment. And the girlfriend along with the other women he had paraded around were decoys to get Mable to choose and inflict hurt to her he has experienced being jealous of her interactions with other men. After their first night together, Alexei basically moved in with Mable because he didn't want to go to bed without her. They continue their sexual relationship but Mable gets spooked once she gets pregnant and asks Alexei for time to process. Although he's possessive and intense, he backs off until Mable makes a decision. Mable knew the whole time she belonged with and wanted Alexei but things were moving fast, so there's no surprise that she decides to move in to his penthouse and make a home and family with him. the book ends after they get married for the second time publicly three years later, and when their twin sons had been born.
Why do I feel cheated? Because I love the possessive all about you men in these stories and I wanted more from the book. I wanted to know more about Alexei and his dealings, past, and what made him who he was. I wanted to know about his family history and whether he had any living parents or siblings. I wanted to explore the depths of his obsession with Mable and understand what it was about her that hooked him. I wanted the same kind of information about Mable as well plus for them to have more meaningful conversations. The book was mostly surface level and I wanted a depth that the story does not include. Their chemistry is blazing and they both only had eyes for one another and I think the story would be improved with more.

Satisfying
If your in the mood for a short, alpha tale with low drama this is satisfying although its greatly in need of editing. There is s lot.of.repertition .... Of scenes, phrases, and sometimes who!e sentences. But if you can ignore all that its pretty good.

Alexei and Mable
Alexei lay in wait for her, silently testing her, challenging her to confront him with her feelings. The day it came didn't go like he expected, with her rushing to his side. Rather, the opposite, as Mable resigned from her job. Oh no, he's not letting her leave him. She is his and he will ensure she never forgets it.
This is a good story overall, both MCs likeable, their passion combustible, their love all-consuming. Alexei is all about Mable, willing to rain hellfire down on anyone who would hurt her. I love him for that alone. Mable is wonderful, deserving of his devotion, and she bestows it back to him. A simple knitted cap spoke so loudly, shouting her feelings to him before she ever said the words. A few inconsistencies, gaps and editing issues and a surplus of Russian endearments I had to look up but an enjoyable read nonetheless.
I listened to / read this one. The Audible version's volume dropped significantly in the midst of playback and the AI narrator started spelling words vice reading twice if memory serves, the second for quite a bit. I read it to see if there was any reason for such. There were none.

Alexei and Mabel! ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
This book caught my while I was looking for a certain book. The cover was bold and eye catching. But it was the synopsis that drew me in. After reading a few pages I knew I had to add it to my Kindle library.
Mabel worked for Alexei for three years. And in those three years she fell deeply in love with him. Unbeknownst to her Alexei feels the same way about her. Due to a huge misunderstanding Mabel makes a decision that sets the tone for the book. Alexei, the sexy Russian giant, took possessive, obsessive, dominance to a whole new level. But make no mistakes, Alexei Smirnov didn't play when it comes to his Mabel. He was determined to conquer her fears and prove to her that she can count on him.
I read this book in 1 hour. It was such a wonderful read. Mabel and Alexei deserve all of the joy and happiness in the world. This book is definitely worth reading.

good fantasy
But the writing left a lot to be desired.
There were some misses with the details. Like a cottage with cathedral ceilings? A large house is not what comes to mind when i hear โcottageโ. It doesnโt make sense. Or her taking a sip of whiskey WHEN THEY ALREADY KNOW SHEโs PREGGERS?

I was getting into it but then the details would throw me off here and there. Three stars for the modern fantasy of having a big brute own you but yeah. Could be better.

repetitive
I wanted to love this so bad but I couldnโt. It was so repetitive and no real story. And I know some stories, thatโs the expectation going in so Iโm not mad, but I expected more abs I was let down. This whole book couldโve been 30 pages. Even the โconflictsโ were repetitive. Iโll try the next one, but I donโt really have high hopes.

Possessiveโฆ.
Alexei knew from the start that Mable was his forever. He was waiting oh so patiently for her to realize it. Mable secretly loved Alexei and was afraid to have those feelings exposed. She tried hard to not give in, however, when Alexei wants something, he would not stop until he has it!!! The chemistry between the two of them was undeniable. Great short read!

Enjoyable but editing errors
I enjoyed the story, it was definitely fun and steamy. I would have liked to know a bit more about Mabelโs past, specifically with her ex-husband. The other thing I noticed was a number of incomplete sentences, which were odd. This definitely seems like an editing issue. Overall, I like the story and planning to read others from these authors.

Alexai and Mabel
First time reading this author and I liked it. The struggles against insecurity for both of them was real and I wish we knew more about it. The story got a bit repetitive at times but Iโm looking forward to #2 which seems to have a lot of humor

I loved the dynamics between the characters. It only touched a little on both of their backgrounds, if left me with questions but I still enjoyed reading it. Very glad that they got a happy ending.
