This devotional of 365 meditations by theologian and martyr Dietrich Bonhoeffer helps you see that it is possible to impact that world if we allow ourselves to be transformed into the likeness of Christ. Experience the power of Bonhoeffer’s words in a way that challenges you to live out your discipleship daily—combining personal spirituality with an active concern for those around you.
This book is somewhat mis-titled. A Year with Charles Ringma might have been a better title. The book is a daily reading book and each day starts with a very brief (and sometimes out of context) quote from D. Bonhoeffer. This is followed by a more lengthy commentary from the author, which is well written, and then a very brief meditation, presumably by the author as well.
I guess that I was looking for a bit more substance from Bonhoeffer. Had I browsed the book more carefully before purchasing it, I could have figured this out.
A great opportunity to capture infinite pearls from Dietrich Bonhoeffer
His works are deep and challenging, but by pulling some of the key concepts of the obligations we face as Christians into a easy to read, reflect upon and to study, it becomes a resource that will constantly be with you throughout your life.
It was ok. It had tiny excerpts of Bonhoeffer's writings, then a further extrapolation by Charles Ringma, which I didn't think always connected to the Bonhoeffer quote used.
Great little devotional, very thought-provoking and scripture-guided. Each day has excerpts from one of his books (he was eventually a martyr/murdered for helping try to stop Hitler during the Holocaust).
a great intro to a great thinker, deeply committed to justice and peace -- the format allows for quotations of several paragraphs in length giving the reader more fleshed-out views and insights than in many quote books ,
Absolutely amazing and you can literally overlay his teachings still in 2022 with all we see going on. I love his focus on community and the larger focus Christians should have when praying for; the world, government, church, and the 'natural man'/fallen world. Great daily devotional.
