DEATH BY REQUEST is Book #11 in the #1 Bestselling Caribbean Murder series, which begins with DEATH BY HONEYMOON (Book #1). It is also a standalone novel.
In Death by Request (Book #11 of the Caribbean Murder Series), Cindy and Mattheus are given a shocking case they have never faced before: a clear-cut case of euthanasia might turn out to be something more ominous.
Tara and Owen Danden, celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary in Jamaica, are on the water, in a boat he rented, when the weather shifts and Tara falls overboard. As Owen tries desperately to save his wife, the boat spins and hits her head—sending her into a coma.
Pulled out of the water, barely alive, Tara is airlifted to an elegant hospital on the island, and remains in a coma for two months. When she finally dies, however, there becomes a question of whether she truly died of natural causes.
Based on scanty evidence, Owen is taken into custody and quickly hires Cindy and Mattheus to clear his name and find out who wanted Tara dead.
Cindy and Mattheus’s journey takes us through an intriguing exploration of comas, euthanasia and what happens to those in altered states. As the investigation proceeds we watch Cindy and Mattheus’s relationship ripen, and take a new turn. We also meet Tara’s crazy family, learn the secret they’ve been hiding, and see what bearing it might have on the case. As a new suspect finally comes into focus, all is not what it seems to be…

Mama always said that if you can't say anything nice, say nothing at all, but that would kind of defeat the purpose of reviewing the book.
I'm glad I got this as a freebie from the Google store. If I'd paid full price for it, I'd be feeling thoroughly ripped off. The story was weak, the characters were two dimensional and had all the charisma of cardboard, and the deus ex machina ending felt like an utter cop out. I'm utterly confused as to how this got past an editor - it reads more like a first draft than a finished piece.
Needless to say, I have no intention of touching any of Jaden Skye's other works, freebies or not!
If I was going to have a book published the last thing I would do would be to use an inept proofreader. This book was quite poorly done as aeb boring story, shallow characters and absent of any mystery.
This book was not well written, and there was no real mystery or detective work. The investigator simply wandered around with her boyfriend until she stumbled across a person with information. "Intuition" will only take a story so far, and it was significantly overused here.
The storyline was good, but the main male character was horrid. He came across as a know-it-all who didn't trust the instincts of his partner/girlfriend.
I could read this series of books forever! Jaded Skye is an excellent author of this murder mystery series. She keeps you guessing to the very end. I always have a difficult time trying to figure out who the killer is and mostly find out when Jaden decides to reveal them! Although this is an ongoing series the books are read alone so one doesn't need to read the others to get a feel for the setting BUT neither does the author repeat herself to the point of a reader not wanting to read the book's because of it. Skye gives just enough info so a new reader gets to know C & M investigators without turning off the faithful reader. Can't wait to read 12!!!!!!
I like this series of books! They are a light read that has a lazy island flair to the story. No part of the story is rushed to complete the storyline. There is the romance between the two main characters. Add in a sprinkle of a travelogue of the island. Stir with a mystery to solve. And Cindy always gets it solved. This time she doesn't leave the island in a run so that was different. Another enjoyable read! Can't wait to read the next one.
A twisted plot with many suspects. Hired by rich, handsome Owen after his comatose wife, Tara, is poisoned and he is arrested, Cindy is having a hard time deciding on a suspect. Many people felt Tara was suffering in her coma and wanted it ended. The hospital board hated what they considered bad press over her condition. It takes two last minute revelations to solve this one. Great mystery!
While I have enjoyed this series, I have to wonder about Mattheus' periodic machismo and sense of superiority, fleshed out with Cindy's co-dependency and rich fantasy life. However, I enjoy Skye's ability to tell a relaxed story that I can enjoy without a great of effort.
Cindy and Mattheus are brought in to prove a man is not guilty of his wife's murder while in the Caribbean celebrating their anniversary. Who exactly did kill her, if not her husband. Follow the clues with the police, Cindy and Mattheus. This one should keep you on your toes.
I did read the whole book, liked the detective couple. The story moved slowly and the resolution had nothing to do with what they had been looking into the whole time. That was not satisfying.
