With The Grand Budapest Hotel being (at time of writing, at least) my favourite Wes Anderson movie, when I visited the archival exhibition of his work at the Design Museum in London I picked up a copy of the screenplay as something of a souvenir.

I won’t go in depth as I’ve already reviewed the film itself for that (above) but, the screenplay is a rather different beast.

While from watching his films it’s abundantly clear Anderson is a stickler for detail, the script takes that to another level with very precise descriptions of locations and action that truly do paint a picture of what ends up on screen in words and print, and there’s no denying that, while rather mannered in this instance, the dialogue absolutely fizzes at points…
