This was the most poorly written book I’ve read in a long time. The spelling and grammatical errors were astronomical. I honestly don’t even know why or how I finished this book. The plot was horrible and extremely repetitive. Goooooood byeeee
Dedication: For the girlies who are obsessed with hockey guys—especially goalies, Greyson is waiting for you xo *** And to anyone who never believed they’re good enough…I see you, and I believe in you.

If you’re in the mood for a fun, spicy, and easy-to-devour hockey romance, this book delivers. Greyson is an absolute cinnamon roll, Lily is chaotic but loveable, balancing out his softer nature with her ride-or-die attitude. Their chemistry is great, and the spice is well-balanced. The friend group dynamic adds warmth and humor, setting up what could be a solid series.
While this is a fluffy romance with great communication, I could only give it 3 stars. Here’s where the book misses the net: The hockey details are wildly inaccurate—goalies don’t fight, they never sit out periods, and their teams are fiercely protective of them, not the other way around. It’s clear the author didn’t do much (if any) research on the sport, which might frustrate hockey fans. On top of that, the writing can feel juvenile at times, and the abrupt chapter transitions make it seem like you’ve accidentally skipped pages. A little more polish and smoother pacing would have made a big difference.
If you’re here for a realistic hockey romance, this one might leave you frustrated. But if you’re looking for a fluffy, spicy, fake-dating romcom with a loveable goalie and a feisty heroine, this is an easy, entertaining read. Just be prepared to suspend disbelief when it comes to the hockey side of things!
Swoony Line: “All my life I never felt like I had a home,” …”But then I realized, home isn’t just a place, it’s a person. And to me, Lilly, you are my home,”
“You make me feel more extraordinary than anything I’ve ever experienced in my life.”
I received an ARC copy and wanted to leave an honest review.
i’ve read alot of hockey romances and this one didn’t stand out to me. would’ve been a 3 star but the bad grammar and spelling errors just ruined it. also lil-bug?sorry can’t get behind it 😭
First, thank you so much to the author for selecting me to receive an ARC of this book! I was really honored to be picked and excited to dive into this book.
Greyson is a funny, adorable, golden retriever-esque book boyfriend that I just adored. His relationship with Lilly was just precious, and I thought their romance was fun but also had its deep moments — a good balance! I enjoyed the chapters from his narration just a tad more than Lilly’s simply because I really enjoyed his character. Simply put, this was a fun, enjoyable read that easily kept me entertained on my runs (and likely had people in the gym wondering why I was huffing out laughs every so often!).
There were two things that kept this from being a four star read for me. First, I almost wish I had instead gotten my hands on a published copy, because there were a lot of grammatical errors. For about the first 50% of the book, every time I started to get sucked deeper into the story, a grammatical or capitalization error would yank me right back out (i.e. a character’s name not being capitalized).
The other thing that was mixed for me was Lily‘s ex-boyfriend. While this provided some great swoon worthy moments for Greyson to come in and save the day, and even for Lilly to save herself, the character almost felt a bit cartoonish with how antagonistic he was. Towards the end, he just didn’t really seem believable anymore.
This is just my opinion, and again, I’m super grateful to the author for selecting me to receive an advanced copy of her book! Overall, this is a really fun and easy read that I think a lot of hockey romance fans would enjoy.
Looking for a college/hockey romance? Then When the Time Is Right might be for you! Now, my review is *my* opinion. Regardless of *my* opinion, I still encourage you to check out this book with a guaranteed HEA.
*Some SLIGHT spoilers ahead - stop now if you don't want any! *
When The Time is Right is the second book in the Riverside Dragon series, but can be read as a standalone. Even though I had no knowledge of the Riverside Dragon universe, I was able to follow the characters with ease. I absolutely LOVED the MMC in this book! Add to that he was inexperienced and great with communication?! Instant book boyfriend. I love how both main characters faced their challenges together and weren't afraid to openly ask each other for help. I also love how the author included mental health (thank you!!). It was adorable that they thought feelings weren't going to be caught.
However, this book said that the main characters were on a fake date. Honestly, I...don't think it's fair to say that, as almost everyone EXCEPT the FMC's ex knew (so my question/debate I'm having with myself: was it really fake dating?) Also, at one point the FMC and MMC were reading some *spicy* books. Well... I could tell immediately which book they were referring to. I get that these books have *descriptive* scenes, and their level of spiciness is much debated (because everyone's level of spiciness is different), but as I was reading, I felt it was *bad* that they were reading these books ('... I'm also going to make her pay for both my and Greyson's therapy, because I think we're going to need it'... but what happens if someone likes fluffy romances and dark romances? t You could argue that the friend shouldn't have given them *those* books, but I don't think anyone should shame another's reading preferences, fictional or IRL).
Overall, the book was enjoyable and an easy read (bonus: you can never go wrong with a hockey romance!). I would like to thank the author for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced copy of When The Time Is Right.

I was pleasantly surprised when I started reading this one,its a very fast read. Lilly and Greyson are both very sweet, and I liked them together. It was nice to have a Male MC that's so open about his emotions. He's also the perfect boyfriend, a tampon buying, emotionally connected, super hot boyfriend.
I also think the author did a great job with the panic attacks that Lilly has. They felt pretty accurate to me as someone who has them frequently. I loved both sets of friends, too. I need to know why Chase is buying a bookstore.
So why the rating. I can definitely see what other reviewers mean about the transitions between chapters. They do jump from one scene to another. Like when he calls her from the hotel and she drives 2 hours to get there. They talk and then boom we jump to another day. I think we missed a lot of opportunities to develop the relationship more because of it.
For a book with fake dating and sex teaching tropes, they don't do much of either. They only fake date for the ex, and honestly, it never feels fake or awkward for a second. And greyson is so immediately good at the sexual stuff she doesn't really need to teach him.
But I think the biggest issue for me was that once the sexual stuff starts, the plot is essentially reduced to waiting for them to do it and fall in love. Even big moments for their romantic connection lead straight to a sex scene rather than going the emotional route. I would rather have had fewer scenes and more of them just sitting in the moment. Them going on an actual date would have been nice, too.
Overall, I did enjoy the couple, and the side characters are interesting enough that I would potentially read theirs, but there were things I would have changed. I received an advance review copy of this book, and this review represents my honest opinion. Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this book.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 stars) Finally checked this one off my 💜 Purple TBR and I’m so glad I did! I’m also friends with Simone on Instagram, which made the experience that much more special 😊
This story hit all the right notes fake‑dating, hockey, found family, and characters who earn their happy. I especially loved how Lilly and Greyson grew together through their messes and came out stronger.
If you’re in the mood for a fun, emotionally layered college hockey romance, this is a great pick!
4 ⭐️ ARC I love the fake dating trope so much and this did not disappoint ! From such a forced meeting to falling in love, Lilly and Greyson are so cute ! I love how they find home in each other and just love so openly !
Every fake dating trope I read is a favourite, but throw in an inexperienced MMC? Yes please.
Really loved this read, and I binged it as soon as I received the ARC copy. The blend of chemistry and care between the leads had my head and heart tugged in so many directions. I love love and this was so lovely to read, love our girl Lilly!
Also thoroughly enjoyed the creativity for some of the 🌶️ scenes, trying not to give any spoilers whilst trying to recommend this read!
Greyson has officially made his way into my top ten book boyfriends🔥
Lilly broke up with her boyfriend months ago but he’s still trying to get her back after cheating on her LOADS OF TIMES. And to make him believe she’s moved on she tells him she’s dating Greyson (MMC) and that sparked an interest in them fake dating and ALSO HER TUTORING HIM IN SPICY LESSONS, because he’s a virgin!! HELLO??? 😻
The more time they spent together their relationship blossomed and it was the cutest, most sweetest thing it witness🌸
Greyson grew up in the foster system, and his backstory was heartbreaking. But then he met Lilly and everything changed for him. He found someone who loves him unconditionally when he thought he’d never experience love because he never has before🥺
I loved the found family and the banter with their friends!🥰
Received for an ARC review. If you’re looking for a fluffy hockey romcom with a good amount of spice then this is the book for you! Second book in the series but can be read as a full stand alone book. It’s very complete and HEA. Lily and Grayson have great banter and their broken souls come together to form a soulmate connection after they agree to fake-date to help Lily out of a bind. Their tight knit friend group were funny and all balanced out with each other. I’m super excited for their stories as well. Really fun little read! Highly recommend.
Lily is studying to become a journalist and she had an assignment. Which she was paired with another student. Which she knew she would be doing almost all the assignment herself. There assignment was to do an article on the hockey team. Lily didn’t know about hockey, so hopefully it goes well. Greyson was one of the top ten goalies in college hockey. He had a a rough childhood. But he had hockey and his main goal was to play in the NHL. The good thing was his friends also played. Lily and Grayson keeps bumping into each other, like really. He invited her for coffee and they were doing good til she ran off. She was having a panic attack. After that day she has been avoiding him, she can’t for long because of her project. Kyle is her ex,he cheated multiple times and she kept taking him back til this last time. Now he wants her back and she told him no. She told him she moved on and he didn’t believe her. He told her he loved her and will get her back and he knew she was lying. After she finished interviewing Grayson,he offered to give her a ride home. Little did she know she will run into Kyle. He wanted to talk and she acted fast and said remember when I told you I moved on, well now u see I did. His name is Grayson, she got into the car and didn’t realized Kyle left. She packed and then told him she was sorry for putting him into the situation. She even told him what had happened between them. He held her hand and she leaned in and kissed him. She was about to opened his car door but he grabbed her and put her seatbelt on and asked her where she lived. The hockey team throws a Halloween party. Lily went with her friends and she was having a good time. She bumped into someone and almost fell but someone arms grabbed her by the waist. When she opened her eyes it was Grayson. Then she heard his voice, Kyle was trying to tell her he wanted to talk to her and he didn’t believe that she was with Grayson. Grayson actually shocked lily when he said that she was his girlfriend. One thing let to another, and Kyle was holding lily hand really ruff. That’s when one of her friends came and punched him in the face. The boys got him out of the party. She didn’t want to go home so she asked Grayson can they go somewhere quiet. He took her to his room. So here’s the fun part. He told her he can be her pretend boyfriend but he needs a tutor. But when he told her what kind of tutor she froze. But she accepts his proposal. She was shocked to learned he was a virgin in all aspects of the word. When he told her she was technically his first kiss she was shocked. He said he can kiss her right now and lily said go ahead and they kissed. He felt the fireworks people talked about with their first kiss. lily is going to ruin him. She writes down the no dating rules and the most important one is not falling in love. Wonder how that one will work out. They get a lot closer. He protects her from Kyle, they make each other feel safe, the open up to each other about there past. How will this turn out for them. I hope good, and you will have to read this book to find out. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This read had me from the dedication. That cover is just gorgeous 😍 I love a good college romance hockey read, and Simone White not only delivered but exceeded with book 2 of the Riverside Dragons series, When The Time Is Right.
Lily and Greyson, what a pair. They are the most cutest accidental couple that have ever been written. I love how their past molded them and played a role in how much they appreciated each other. They made sure to take into account each other's feelings and to remind each other their worth.
Lily is coming out of a really toxic relationship with her high school boyfriend and dealing with her mom's mental and emotional abuse. Greyson is the hockey team's goalie and has his own past abuse from his childhood that he is dealing with. Both do not feel worthy of true happiness and love. Lily suffers from anxiety and will go through panic attacks.
Lily is a journalist major and is assigned to write about the Riverside Dragons Hockey Team. She is interviewing the players, and of course, that includes Greyson. They didn't get off on the right foot, but they ended up making it up. The cute nickname he gives her from the camp story, she told him Lil - Bug was so sweet and cute.
Greyson offers Lily a ride home, and while walking towards his vehicle, they run into her ex Kyle. Before she knows it, she is telling him that her and Greyson are dating. They make a deal. Greyson will agree to fake dating if she tutors him in sex. He is a virgin and has been waiting for the right person to come along to finally lose it to.
They're not to fall in love, but lines become blurry, and neither can fight their feelings. He makes her feel things that she has never experienced or expected, and she makes him feel wanted. Each intimate moments and making a promise to show up when they other needs them, they start falling hard for each other, waiting for the right time to finally give into each other and experience Greyson's first time.
I love it when the epilogue gives the reader what they are waiting for. It was perfect! The last line 🥺 oh my heart, Simone, I loved it!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for this read! It is a slow burn, so it does take a few chapters to get into the spice, but when it does, Greyson and Lily can not get enough of each other 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶
This one is a hockey romance. It's not a trope that I'm really into but I decided to give this book a chance.🏒💜
I gave this one a 3.5 stars review. Overall the story was nice and sweet, and I loved the characters, especially Greyson. A little golden/cinnamon roll 🥹
I have to be honest in my review so here is why I put this rating. I felt like it was missing some transitions, sometimes necessary, between each chapter. Also, sometimes Lilly and Greyson would use the same exact phrases and it made me wonder if I was still in his POV or her's. And the third reason is that Lilly always made comment about her ex, Luke, that were clashing and breaking the sweets moments between her and Greyson.
This is just my opinion, feel free to read it on March 3th 2025! It still is a fun and easy read. My review has nothing to do about the author or the story. I'm super grateful to the author for selecting me and giving me a chance to review this ARC.
There are so many things to say about this book. While there are some cute/sweet moments, the plot continued to fall apart. So many things are mentioned without being brought up again in anyway or have any resolution. Chase wanting to buy a bookstore, Callie being able to easily give away $7k to charity at 21 yrs old, Sebastian wanting to explain his choices to Greyson at the hotel, there were just so many opportunities to deepen the plot, expand on the characters, and those opportunities flew by without a second glance.
We're supposed to believe that Lilly is obsessed with writing but other than it being mentioned at the beginning and the few scenes of her interviewing the hockey guys for her article, it's barely mentioned. We learn her article got picked to be printed but nothing else comes of it and it's brushed off so quickly.
Also, it would've been great seeing a MMC that is actually inexperienced but when he's immediately great in bed and at everything sex related, it again deprives us of getting to see that development and what could've been so many cute, funny moments between him and Lilly where they're exploring and navigating those things together. It felt unrealistic.
Also, the grammatical errors made were incredibly hard to get by. It wasn't just one or two but dozens of them that should've easily been checked before publication and another reason why this felt like a book that was rushed and written without a lot of care. After Lilly and Greyson start getting more intimate it's like everything else comes secondary to that and it was just a rush to the next sex scene.
The transitions are also pretty jarring and hard to understand when it's constantly moving days ahead or talking about the past. It's choppy and uncoordinated and make things harder to comprehend. The tropes of this book are perfect but it was so poorly executed.

When the Time is Right by Simone White is a hockey romance and the second book in the Riverside Dragons series.
Lilly Jackson, a journalism student, is assigned to write an article on the university hockey team alongside a classmate. With the top two articles set to be featured in the campus newsletter, she’s determined to do her best. While most of the players are friendly, her first encounter with Greyson Montgomery doesn’t go smoothly. He’s immediately drawn to her, but their interaction comes at the worst possible time for him, leaving him full of regret.
Meanwhile, Lilly is struggling with issues involving her ex. One night, when Greyson is giving her a ride home, she impulsively claims they’re dating. After a rushed apology and explanation, they agree to keep up the fake relationship—on one condition: she has to help him with a personal issue. As they spend more time together, the lines between pretense and reality blur, and they slowly start falling for each other.
This is such a cute and spicy romance! Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes lately, and this book delivers it beautifully. The plot is simple, fun, and layered with deeper emotional themes from their past struggles. The characters are incredibly likable and realistic, making it easy to connect with them. Their chemistry is evident from the start, and I appreciated that there wasn’t excessive drama. My favorite part? The way they cared for each other during tough times.
If you love college hockey romances, When the Time is Right is a must-read!
I want to preface this review is solely based on my opinion and my opinion alone. There's no hate at all to this author or the story itself. I love Lilly and Greyson and the tropes are amazing. I did like that before getting into the book has the content warnings to let the reader know what they're getting into and that there was a separate page where you can skip the spicy chapters of the book.
Now I'm going to get into a spoiler free review: (feel free to scroll since this is going to be a slight negative review)
I was super honored to receive this as an ARC to review. This book had everything that I liked in a book from hockey romance (college hockey), fake dating, and the little spice. The MCs got me laughing with some of the things they say to one another and their friends, but I did read up to 65% before having to DNF due to the fact that there was no transition between some scenes. It was honestly quite jarring that I had to put it down. Don't get me wrong that this book had a decent plot with some of the backgrounds of both MCs factor in, but with little to no transitions between one scene from one chapter to the next one got me thinking "How did we go from [insert scene here] to the next scene?" Now I am no literary genius and just read some books based off vibes, but I just could not move on without that transitioning scene leading into the next scene. It doesn't have to be a long transition scene either. Maybe a slight recap from the previous scene into the new one, even if it's a beginning of a new chapter.
I love a story about two people who haven’t seen love in the best way finding each other. When the time is right is all about that. Greyson and Lilly both have struggled with people not loving them fully which made their connection stronger.
I liked the story a lot and felt like it was a fun read. Even though there are some serious topics involved, their love coming together was so powerful. I loved that Lilly was a representation of Mental Health but also working through it. I hate the hand she was dealt with her mother but she’s still a strong person. I love that Popcorn is her safe haven. And after hearing the story why, it just made everything come together.
Greyson had my heart. His life was so sad to hear about but he was a better person because of it. In the scene where he called her while at his father’s hotel broke me because we don’t often see men portrayed as having emotions. But he wore his loud and proud. He just wanted love and I just wanted him to have it.
Kyle….lets just say he got what he deserved.
I also love the side characters and can’t wait to read more about them. Especially Callie and Chase. There is something there for sure. I also loved the found family with Greyson and his teammates. They seem to have a bond and I loved that.
The last 80% of the book is just beautiful moments of them being together and the epilogue was adorable. I was so happy for them.
Overall this read was pretty good. Thanks Simone for letting me be apart of this story. Can’t wait to read more

I love college sports (specially hockey) romances and this book has a lot to offer!!
Greyson and Lily love story is full of amusing, chaotic, young and warm moments. The connection and chemistry is wonderful, their romance is mostly covered by a lovable veil, but it has an adequate amount of spice.
Overall, it is a great book, for a quick read that will leave you feeling happy. The friends are delightful on their own and I want to see their own stories (this is the second book of a series, each being a standalone).
However, when talking about hockey (I'm not an expert so please, feel free to correct me) I think there are few scenes or descriptions that don't follow the reality. The written style is very good, I am sure with the final version it will be even better. Make sure to check the trigger warnings.
Thank you so much @simonewhiteauthor for giving the chance of being an ARC.
Lilly is a journalism major and has a partner project to write an article on the college hockey team. She’s paired up with one of her least favorite classmates, but Lilly is really trying to ace this article so it is printed in the school paper. She’s also recently single, after her ex cheated on her one too many times.
Greyson is the goalie for the college’s hockey team and has had a tough life growing up. Passed from foster home to foster home after his dad signed away his parental rights, he wants to prove to himself that he is able to make it into the pros.
When it’s time for his interview with Lilly, her ex finds her and Lilly spouts off that her and Greyson are dating. The ex of course doesn’t believe it, but Lilly and Greyson agree to a pact, while fake dating to get her ex off her back, she will tutor him in other ways. Long story short, Greyson is still a virgin and is looking to up his knowledge.
This story is a very cute and college romance that is a quick read! I loved that both characters had some really close friends/roommates that were true friends and super supportive. Both main characters have family trauma they are still dealing with, but together they really make each other whole.
I received an arc from the author, however this review is purely based on my own opinion. I loved this book. It's not my usual go-to, however it turns out it was just what I needed. This is a feel-good read and I was smiling all the way through (and shed a tear at the epilogue!) The story of Lilly and Greyson was so sweet, she needed a fake boyfriend to prove to her cheating ex-boyfriend, called Kyle (obviously) that she's over him, and he needs a tutor to teach him about the female body as he's a virgin. The ex really is a piece of work and won't take no for an answer and keeps popping up and trying to get Lilly back and Greyson starts to get territorial and starts to fall for Lily, Lily is grateful for Greyson's help and starts to fall for him too. The spice is sweet and a lot of men could take a note from Greyson and use those fingers more often (Lucky Lilly). They both hide their growing feelings for each other, but not for long and the fake relationship turns into a real one. Overall it's a fluffy, feel good read with a HEA, and I'm going back to read the 1st book in the series now as well. I also look out for any other books from this author
This was my first time reading a book written by this author and let me tell you, I am now a fan. The way that she brought this beautiful story to life made it so much more than the average fake-dating sports romance. This is the story of Lilly and Greyson. Lilly is a college journalism major who is assigned to write about her college's hockey team and crosses paths with Greyson, the star goalie. They are barely acquaintances when they run into Lilly's ex-boyfriend one day (who very much wants her back). Greyson agrees to pretend to date Lilly in return for some special lessons of a different kind. I truly felt every emotion while flipping through the pages, from sadness to anger to happiness and even some humor too. I love the mental health representation as well as the special family dynamics throughout the book. Family doesn't always have to include blood relation, and that was so true for Greyson. The family he found in his friends and teammates was so heartwarming. I loved the side characters as well and I would gladly look forward to reading more about their journeys in any future stories.
0 / 5 stars! I don't want to be mean, but it's so poorly written i can't believe someone would put this out. Nada te incentiva a terminarlo, y menos recomendarlo. it's safe to say i will not be picking up the other books in this series or anything by this author anytime soon.
First of all, I loved the writing style. It was fun, light, and easy to read. It wasn’t hard at all to get lost in the story for hours on end.
The main characters were cute and easy to like. Especially Greyson. He was so damn perfect he sets the bar really high for men in real life. But let’s be honest, with fictional guys like Greyson, who needs a real boyfriend?
Although the main characters both have a rough past, the storyline still felt light and fun. Looking back, I really don’t understand how that is possible, but I am here for it. It was like having a nice light read but our characters still felt realistic because they weren’t perfect.
I also enjoyed the fact that our MMC is a virgin. It was so different and refreshing.
The ending was perfect. The best HEA I could have ever asked for.
Overall, I loved this book and wouldn’t hesitate to read it again.
I recommend to anyone looking for a light hockey/fake dating romance.
A special thank you to the author for sending me an advanced copy!
Lilly's ex won't leave her alone, after being broken up for 4 months. So when she is leaving the hockey rink with Greyson, the goalie on the hockey team she is writing an article for, and her ex corners her, it kind of just flows out of her mouth that Greyson is her new boyfriend. Greyson agrees to be her fake boyfriend on what condition - she becomes his sex tutor and helps him lose his virginity.
This story was so cute! Both Lilly and Greyson were so insecure and had so much growth to do, and there feelings paralleled each other in so many ways. They were the perfect person for each other to bring out the best of each other and help grow. I love how Greyson notices all of the little things about Lilly and truly appreciates everything about her that she doesn't see. Lilly's BFFs are so supportive of her.
This was my first Simone White book, I can't wait to go back and read the first one, and read more in this series!
Thank you Simone White for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!
