Not enough spice nor enough emotion to really sell me on the couple but Nailah was fun, I enjoyed the whole calculated ice queen thing she had going on. There were a few good steamy scenes. rebekah never fails on that front, they just should have been longer. Everything about this story felt too brief. Too much tell, not enough show.

January 28, 2016I am totally glomming this trilogy, having read the first one yesterday.
I didn't love this with the same glee as the first book purely because it had more, oh, 'conventional' BDSM and that isn't my thing (contract negotiations and dungeons etc). Those who like that will love this, because it was all very well written sexytimes. What shone, for me, was the delightfully rude, arsey, snappy, ill mannered heroine who didn't get 'taught a lesson' or any such crap. She's just not very good at people, and it's obvious that finding her feet with her family and having a fulfilling relationship with someone who does have more emotional intelligence is going to have an effect. In the meantime, she's hilarious to read, and extremely real and relatable. The scene where she sits glumly at a BDSM party, with people getting chained and beaten and shagged all around her, just wishing the guy who brought her would come over and talk. I mean, we've all been there, and doing that scene in that setting was just brilliant.
Enjoying this series hugely and I refuse to confirm or deny if I'm already 1/3 through the third book.

Nailah and Armando weren't my favourite couple. I don't what it was, but something about them together didn't work for me. Overbearing families is a bit of a pet peeve of mine so that didn't help either. But issues aside, Weatherspoon has some of the coolest female characters ever. Nailah can be a bit of an ass, but she prefers to be that than to be someone that's trampled on.

Not Armando falling first. I didn't expect Mr. Playboy to settle down anytime soon, but clearly, this is a good example of the right time. Nailah came in hot, and I really enjoyed that she had a hard exterior but a willing Sub. Ok Rebekah, I see you giving us different personality types. What I liked a lot about this book moreso than book 1 is that they actually talked through their dynamics before started. Grant and Violet jumped in the deep end, and that was jarring. While it wasn't as smutty, I'm here for walking through different dom/sub exploration. Oh, my favorite Daniel popped up a few times. Sated is still my favorite book in the series by far. It hit all the write notes and spice.

Just under two hours, this was a quick, sexy, & kinky read. Rebekah Weatherspoon’s writing style works for me and I find it easy to dive in and finish in one sitting. I enjoy her strong female characters and Nailah is a perfect example of that. She expects and asks for what she wants, is honest even if she knows it might not be what others want to hear, and works hard to achieve her goals.
I think I enjoyed this more than Fit because Armando was very clear that his physical relationship with Nailah would be outside the parameters of his trainer relationship with her. I enjoyed how much we learn about each character individually as well as their road to becoming a couple. This is solidly in the erotica category and delivers on all that’s promised in the blurb.
It was nice to get little updates on Grant and Vi. There’s also enough of an intro to Keira & Daniel that I’m looking forward to jumping right in to Sated.

This was quite graphic. And gave a different light on the BDSM world. It actually educated me on several things. I liked the strong female MC and the male MC was strong and in touch with his feelings. It was a nice story. I just wanted it longer to really develop the characters more.

I didn't have a problem with the characters, writing, story, nothing. This was my first, ahh, BDSM read (which before I've only read some light bondage and the like in smut), and it was INTENSE. A bit too much for me. So I had to put the majority of the story aside (although I did skim the ending to see how it would turn out, hehe. It was good!)
I really liked the spunky heroine, Nailah, and her independence. Armando's casual, dominant confidence is also rather attractive, and the chemistry is off the charts. You can really tell how these two fit together from their first encounter.
But when the BDSM part entered, I felt like I was stepping into another realm. Like whoa! Masters and "Sirs" and all that. I have very little knowledge of it, so I read a bit but decided it just wasn't for me. By all accounts though, the romantic development seems to be not bad! I think it was a good idea picking this one up though, because now I know I'm not really geared towards BDSM stories. This series seems to be one of the better ones out there!

This one didn't do so much for me.
This author's strength is in her characters. She creates really good people, particularly POC - you could see them, hear them, you know these people.
Her downfall though is timing , development, and plot. There was very little holding this together and no identifiable central conflict. Also, I know this is women's fantasy but fantasy works best when it's plausible. Armando's behaviour didn't seem believable, not as a grown man and especially not as a Dom. I don't get where the feelings came from, nor the relationship.
It's late and I'm tired so I'll very concisely say that: too much telling; hurried at the end again, not very BDSM-y, Nailah's a bit unpleasant, the book is too short, Armando got the raw end of the deal, and he comes off like a whiny preteen here. Moreover, that beautiful banter from book 1 should have made an appearance here, too.

July 19, 2018Thinly developed and sometimes clunky, but I loved the characters. I'm so into when a hero can describe the heroine to his friend like so:
"...she's kind of a dick and she cuts deep. Even when we're in a scene she talks so much shit."I thought Weatherspoon did a good job of paring down the story to its essential scenes, but I would have loved to have read a longer version of this story, because Nailah's and Armando's emotional journeys often seemed telegraphed in broad strokes rather than explored in complex, textured ways.

To be quite honest, this book was ok, but wasn't fantastic. It was difficult connecting to the characters, and the sex wasn't soulful. As a matter of fact, it came off as more mechanical and tutorial than connective. That doesn't mean that it wasn't freaky, but it just failed to seduce me as a reader and curiosity seeker.

Weatherspoon is a go-to author when I need a read that will make me smile. Everything I love about her writing is here, including a heroine who has a low tolerance for shit from the hero. She can be an ass at times, but a lovable ass.
A fun read, but the first book in the series is still my favorite.

I didn't like this as much as the first one. I thought it needed a bit more space to expand on what they liked about each other other than their physical compatibility. A couple of interactions get referred to but I would have liked to have them on-page.

I love a really well done BDSM romantic/erotic novel and find them to be few and far between in any genre. I'm sad to say that I didn't enjoy this one as much as the previous two I read, mostly because I felt like the author didn't know as much as she could about BDSM. This ended up making the book feel a bit disjointed for me, in that I kept expecting one thing, but being served something else. There were even some fade to black sex scenes that left me perplexed, because her other books had clear and thorough (and extremely well done) scenes, which meant that I was left with the impression that the author didn't quite know what to write about a couple that was supposed to be practicing more hardcore BDSM.
I really liked Nailah's character and how she was portrayed. I love a strong woman, and she was all that and then some. I loved how she said what she meant, even if it was kind of fucked up and blunt, because she reminded me very much of myself in that respect. What I didn't like as much was the fact that she seemed to kind of run the show, in that Armando didn't quite know how to handle her. But interestingly enough I also liked that, as it's the total opposite of how most MF BDSM relationships are portrayed.
I'll have to let my thoughts on the book percolate a bit more and come back to this review if I have anything more concrete to say.

I loved this second novella of the trilogy as much as, if not more than, the first one. Weatherspoon's writing style is one that I'm really, really liking and enjoying.
I loved the main couple, especially Nailah. Weatherspoon writes awesome female characters (and male characters too, don't worry LOL) who don't take sh*t and Nailah leads the pack as of now. Armando is one hot mofo of a Dom but he completely won me over with his softer emotional side. Together they set the pages on fire.
I'm very picky when it comes to BDSM in romance novels but the way Rebekah Weatherspoon writes it, it totally works for me. She entertaines and educates at the same time and I love that.
I also loved the secondary characters. The respective family members added to the wonderfulness of this novella and I loved seeing Grant and Violet from bk 1 again.
TAMED was a well-written, well-rounded novella that never felt rushed despite the modest page-count. It's a perfect mix of heat, humor and heart in a writing style that definitely resonates with me.
I can't wait to read to read the third novella of this trilogy!

3.5. I dug it on the whole and laughed out loud quite a few times, though I just wanted more. I do find the range of diverse cultures and ways of life to be entirely refreshing, especially in how real and unforced it is. I especially liked Nailah's mother, such a wonderfully written minor character. I felt in the interest of keeping it short, their development as a couple suffered and I really wanted to have more of the two. I found her really interesting and he had such a kinky life that just would had been more interesting if I could read more of his teaching and her learning. I mean it was hot, but yeah, I want more!!

Even though this book wasn't the best from her that I've read, I still love Rebekah Weatherspoon's writing and the importance that she gives to consent and communication in these relationships and how much diversity she includes that is not just there to fill this "diversity quota" but that is actually part of the character's personalities and way of moving in the world and making of their decisions. I also loved how in the BDSM aspects, it went a completely different way than it did in Fit. It was more of the idea of BDSM that I had in my head before starting to read about it. The characterisation was spectacular. Nailah was a complex and interesting character that took no shit from nobody, who wanted to have a successful life at the same time as having successful relationships with her family and with Armando.
This author has a way of writing female characters that just makes me extremely happy because they are well rounded characters with professions and dreams and goals and who still get the happy ending having all of that. Also, I adore that the male characters are multifaceted. In this case, Armando could be a bit of a dick but he still was compassionate and emotional and fell in love with Nailah before she fell in love with him, which is something we don't see a lot in romance. I enjoyed seeing the cultural differences and nuances of an Egyptian family that Nailah brought to the table and I also thought that her cynicism was a breath of fresh air.
What I wasn't feeling in this book in particular were the dynamics between Armando and Nailah, I thought that they acted a bit immature sometimes which is something that Rebekah Weatherspoon didn't do with the characters in other books. I just wasn't feeling their chemistry and I thought the entire relationship lacked depth and the complexity that we saw from both of the characters. The ending was really well done but in general, I thought this book needed a bit more length. It was super short and the things solved really fast. But overall, I'm enjoying this trilogy a lot and can't wait to read how it ends!

Really a 3.5.
There were parts of Tamed that I really liked. Armando is a sweetheart and the chemistry between him and Nailah is great! I had to work at liking Nailah at first, but she grew on me as I got to know her better.
I enjoyed the family dynamics in Tamed as well - both Armando and Nailah have families that really care about them, though they show it in very different ways.
Similarly to Fit, the first book in the series, Armando is a member of the BDSM community and Nailah is essentially learning as she goes. The sex was very steamy, though at times it felt a little glossed over.
The reason I only gave Tamed a 3.5 is that it just felt very rushed. Tamed is the shortest of the three Fit books, and I could feel it in the writing. That being said, I definitely read it in one sitting and enjoyed every minute of it!

I think I enjoyed this overall, even though once again the ending felt a little abrupt for the development of the characters and plot. The premise of this interracial romance is that Nailah’s father fires her trainer after a scandal and somehow links her up to Armando. But unbeknownst to him, Armando is a Dom and Nailah has a penchant for hooking up with her personal trainers.
This book explores Nailah’s discovery of a new part of her nature and desires. I’m also not sure what I feel about the link up between hooking up with a fitness trainer you’re paying to train you and BDSM. I’m also not sure about Nailah’s penchant for hooking up with her trainers and how it implies she sees them. I liked this one slightly better than Fit - mainly because there was far less in the way of fatphobia for Nailah than there had been for Violet. And it was nice to see Meegan making an appearance too.
But I feel like there just wasn't really enough of... everything in this book. Not really enough character exploration for either Nailah or Armando, not really enough romance, and not really enough kink. There were the beginnings of some great stories for both of them, but I felt like neither one was developed on enough.
That said, it was fun seeing Nailah make it crystal clear that she knew what she wanted and would accept nothing less, as well as getting to see a little more of Daniel, who - at this point - is the character that intrigues me the most. I'll probably continue with Book 3 in this series, since that's Daniel's story (plus, I've already bought it anyway), but I'm not sure I'll keep going with the other spin-off series in this world after that.

I don't have much to say about these, but I don't want to forget later, so brief review to be pasted in all three:
I've said before, BDSM isn't really my thing. I've said before, I don't like to penalize ratings based on format. Short forms often can sacrifice development. BUT, I've read novellas that don't do this.
I like Weatherspoon as an author - Rafe: A Buff Male Nanny was very enjoyable. I love reading diverse reads. But this trilogy was just meh for me. Insta-attraction, near insta-sex, some leads better developed than others, and the whole BDSM thing (and insta-buy in from the leads). Just not for me as much as Rafe was. Sometimes the summary gave me more character development than the novellas themselves. It's somewhat "it's not you, it's me," somewhat that they could be better.
I've said before, BDSM isn't really my thing. I've said before, I don't like to penalize ratings based on format. Short forms often can sacrifice development. BUT, I've read novellas that don't do this.

The second book in this trilogy was an even quicker read than the first. The plot is fairly similar: Armando (trainer) meets client who he finds attractive but who knows nothing about the BDSM lifestyle so he slowly introduces her to it and who he is reluctant to enter into a relationship with. The chemistry/vibe between Armando and Nailah is quite different than the one between Grant and Violet in that Nailah is more clear about what she wants from Armando. There's also a family dynamic, with Nailah struggling with her dad and brother interfering in her love life and Armando trying to take her to meet his dads very early on. The sex scenes were also much more explicit and graphic in this one.

I love how Nailah knows (a little) what she wants and is willing to explore to get it ... after some light Facebook stalking of course. And Armando has got to be the sweetest Dom around.
Ending was a little tricky for me. Not quite an HEA and dangerously close to barely a HFN ...yet still satisfying. At least, I guess I kind of agree with where it stopped? Because I don’t think they had any more big bad moments and if not, who wants to just watch relationship work?

Fit was the first book I read by Rebekah Weatherspoon (in 2019) and I loved Violet's story. I finally got around to continuing the Trilogy this year. I love that Nailah and Armando aren't automatically into each other. Oh, they definitely think each other are attractive., but they both have their reasons for not wanting to make this more, so it's a nice slow burn watching them go ahead and give in to their baser needs, and finding that they give each other what they want more than just sexually. Not my favorite of the Trilogy, but a good read just the same!

I'm bummed because I didn't understand this book at all. I loved book one and thought it had good pacing and characters even though it was short but this one lacked any chemistry for me and the plot was actually kind of confusing? Like why was Nailah's dad the one booking her a personal trainer and she's a grown adult? Overall not terrible but the story felt like it had zero flow and I was just scratching my head the whole time then it ended. I'm gonna read the third one to finish out the series but maybe this early trilogy of hers is worth skipping after all or maybe just do the first one.

I really really disliked this one. Did not like the heroine's attitude, her family weirded me out (yes, I understand traditional but this was a weird mixture of non-traditional and traditional as I understand it and I am not a fan). The hero was also meh. The whole premise landed wrong for me, I think, and then it was downhill from there.
I'm super sad about this because I like the author very much.

Better representation of a BDSM relationship than was presented in Fit because there were actually safewords established and Dominant/submissive were actually used as terms but this was not my favorite because it felt rushed, which is to be expected when the story has to be wrapped up in 10 chapters.
