The Gospel of Atheism and Freethought - according to Sherlock

Rate this book
The Gospel of Atheism and Freethought - According to Sherlock turns blasphemy into an art form. None of the major religions are safe from Sherlock's unrelenting and antagonistic wit. In this three-part parody-titled atheist gospel, Sherlock shows that the legendary "prophet" of the Islamic faith was a paedophile, that Christianity was built on a textbook scam, that Jesus is not the reason for the season, and that there is no reason for Jesus at all. If this book doesn't result in a fatwa or Pat Robertson dropping dead from a massive coronary episode, it will at least provide the atheist reader with food for both thought and laughter.

It's witty but it reads like a list of one-liners and as a book it's hard to work through. I mean, really, are you supposed to sit down and just read this straight through? But for a few laughs and some insight (if you're not careful), it's an OK read.

My biggest beef with this whole way of thinking is - why bother? I find it hard to call myself an atheist just like I wouldn't call myself an a-Santa-ist. Get it? I don't ridicule little kids for believing in Santa (or pretending to). Why is dealing with the religious any different? If they leave me alone i am fine. i don't need to be up them up.

About halfway through and so far it's excellent! I love the author's wit, insight, and smooth delivery. It's filled with tons of knowledge that could only be acquired by someone who has spent considerable time studying the subject. This is definitely some hard hitting irrefutable evidence that even the most scholarly of theists will have a hard time disputing.......if they can at all. I highly recommend this book.
