Even with a murder this cozy mystery has a calm feeling to it. And Millie again gets caught up in a murder as a suspect - AGAIN The fun part was when her ex-husband shows up in Paris. He sends a text and she tells him to meet her in the red zone of Paris.....she has him chasing all over the place and with each stop he shows the ugly American - he stops at Claudette's shop and she gives him no information and then he stops at Millie's shop but she is not there and Tamar tells him to come back tomorrow! He finally finds her at a bar with Luc....but it turns out that Millie gets the nerve and lets Jack know....no second chance not getting back together....goodbye! I love this part....kick him to the curb....lol lol Now back to the solving of this murder.
Poor Millie! She has her ex husband chasing her down and she is accused of yet another murder. Subsequently, her budding romance with her French Inspector is in jeopardy, because his superiors are pushing him to arrest her. Again, the characters are vivid and quickly become endearing. The plot is straightforward and the premise is finding out who killed the head sommelier and why. The answers were hard to find and there was a lot of false starts, but the killer was finally found and brought to justice. I definitely highly recommend this story.
I am trying the 2nd book and while the writing may be good (eh more ok) the Audiobook is HORRIBLE. The premise of these books is an American woman moves to France - please tell me why the narration has a extremely British accent? It made is so hard to grasp onto the character. Then I find out that the narrator is AI?!?!! So the author chose this? Nope, I am out.
Millie is once again invited to participate in an event that she's hoping will promote her chocolate making skills. However, once again her reputation is at stake! Will she find the guilty party before her arrest?
