Hope In The Darkness: Finding God's Light

Rate this book
I didn't get the chance to be a kid. The day after high school graduation, I was raising five younger siblings. Later, after tragedy tore through my family, I took in my nephews too. On the outside I looked strong- but inside, I was exhausted, broken, and asking God why life always seemed harder for me,

Hope in the Finding God's Light is my story of surviving abandonment, loss, and burnout that left me at rock bottom. It's about the night I cried out to God when I felt invisible, and the moments His presence carried me when I couldn't take another step.

This isn't a polished "happily ever after". It's messy, painful, and real. But it is also proof that even when life doesn't look like you dreamed, God's light still breaks through - and He can bring healing and hope out of the darkest places.

Hope Amidst the Darkness In This World

If you are looking for a book with a powerful and true story, something or someone to inspire you, if you are in need of encouragement and something more than empty promises, then I believe you can find it all within these pages. As a fellow Christian, I believe it is an excellent start!
Misty Fields story starts from the very beginning, introducing us to her family which includes her alcoholic father whom they loved, but feared, her mother who decided one day that life would be easier elsewhere, with a new love and so she left everything and everyone behind, Misty the oldest and most responsible from a far too young age, and her six siblings as well as her dearly loved Papaw and grandma. The siblings felt safe with them in their home and lived with them for a while.
Central to Misty's life is her belief in God, and the church who helped her grow in her faith much as mine did for me when going through my own trauma and dysfunction within my family. Like Misty, I was a "parentified child" meaning that I had to grow in way too fast and was responsible for taking care of children, chores etc while still a child myself. It is no wonder we (and children like us) naturally take on the role as caregiver to siblings, encouraging and trying to fix our parents difficulties, helping friends, maturing -- or more accurately perhaps, FEELING mature but lacking that mature judgement that happens as the brain continues to develop.
This book describes many of the hard things Misty and her siblings went through, the pain Misty experienced, the "traps" she and her siblings fell into, losses experienced, challenges, her growing faith and finding real love after praying the Lord would send a Godly man her way...
I like that in the book she freely speaks of her faith, even citing Biblical references and quoting Scripture without coming across as "holier than thou." By this I mean that the author remains relatable and easily understood by the reader! I like that in a book that speaks on faith. I appreciate that we aren't saying WE are perfect because we believe because we still sin even when we try not to. We are sinners, saved by grace! We hate sin but love the sinner. And we love the Savior!
Good book I would recommend if you feel this could be YOUR "light in the darkness."

Such an incredible story of a woman who has done so much for, and cared so much for the people in her life. Though the story was heartbreaking at times, it was a story that you won’t want to stop reading. I don’t even know Misty personally, but I am so proud of her. She has conquered so much in her life and will continue to do so. Read this book and be inspired to believe so much that God is always in control, even when the circumstances stink…He is still there, guiding the way, never leaving or forsaking us.

She’s not a professional writer but is writing from her own experiences and is sharing heartache and personal tragedy and how she with God’s help, rose above it all.
