Cute concept

I received an ARC of this story in exchange for this review

I really liked the concept of this story and when I read the synopsis I knew I wanted to read it right away.

The positives:
I loved the ending (epilogue). Probably one of the best epilogues I've read in a while and very true to the story and characters
I can't wait to read her sister's and best friend's story. She set them up very nicely
Character growth in the mmc

Negatives
I had so much hope for this story but I don't feel that it fully delivered. There was so much more that could have been done with this concept
I didn't like the mmc until the very end. He comes across as using his power and position in a way that forces the fmc to submit to his demands
The fmc is too wishy washy in what she wants

Overall I gave it 4 stars. I'm liking forward to the next in the series

Sally Vixen introduces us to her new series, Duchess Deals, with her book, His Duchess’ Wicked List. I have read all of Sally’s Regency novels and this new series is just as good as the others. Maddie, our female protagonist, has lost a very important list. It’s a list of things she would like to do before she’s married. A bucket list of sorts. But she has lost the list and someone has picked it up. That someone is Daniel, the Duke of Everly. He’s been traveling around the continent for several years and has now returned home. A lover of women, he is quite the rake. So begins the relationship between Maddie and Daniel. Sally has a formula for writing a fun, enjoyable regency romance with well-developed characters, a fast-moving plot and enough spice and mystery to keep the reader’s attention. This new series promises to be very entertaining and I’m looking forward to the next book in the Duchess Deals series.

This Regency romance begins with a charming plot. The FMC, steeling herself for an arranged marriage, comprises a cheeky list of things to do while she is still free. The list would be mostly tame today, but of course very scandalous by Regency standards.

The FMC is charming and very period appropriate, but also quite bright and intelligent. She's close to her older sister, who has wielded some influence due to her stance on the single life. This is of course horrifying to her parents who wish to marry off both girls ASAP.

When this list gets lost during a walk in the park, who should find it but the FMC's best friends brother. And this is where I fell out of love with this story.

The MMC is a self-centered, bored rake who's has recently returned from 5 years of eating, seducing women, and gaming his way across Europe. When he finds the FMC's lost list and realizes it belongs to his sister's gorgeous, virginal friend, he devotes himself to gaining his next prize. While his mother pressures him to marry, he focuses on every possible way to $exually blackmail this girl DAILY. His lust for her is palpable but way beyond romance. He pressures her intensely to do more and more $exual activities, cornering her frequently, intimidating her to submit to physical intimacies. Yes, she is curious and highly attracted to him. But he pushes her way beyond that and as she professes, scares her often. He appeared lecherous and predatory throughout much of the story. It is only at the very end of the story that he "realizes" he loves her and the HEA happens.

I understand how the ever increasing intimacy was supposed to lead to a hot culminative encounter. Instead, it felt like the MMC focused on his desire for $ex by blackmailing, threatening, coercing, and physically intimidating the far less experienced FMC for no other reason than to win the game. That sudden, last minute proclamation of love just didn't ring true.

I don't feel I'm applying today's standards. It just seemed to be a story about an entitled rake who wants this girl by any means possible, and those means aren't romantic at all.

Her bucket list

Lady Madeline made a list of what she would like before she had to settle for a marriage. She lost it in Hyde Park. When she realized it was gone she went to her best friend Lady Selina's home to ask for help to find it. Daniel Huxley the Duke of Everly had found it. What a mess! He is a known rake. He tells her she must do what is on the list only with him. Their is a party put on by the Dowager Duchess to try to marry off Daniel. The problem is his mother and Madeline's motber are wanting him to marry her older sister who is a spinster. Lord Christopher who is a cousin to Daniel takes an interest in Madeline. Jealousy rages on both sides. Lots of great things happen in this book. A must read.

Well written, full of drama, steam, love, intrigue, suspense, society, blackmail , twists and seduction. Lady Madeline is to be married off with her sister according to their parents. She decides that she wants to do a lot of things like having fun, before she is forced to marry. So she makes a list and carries it with her only to lose it in the park. Daniel is a Duke and one that has worked his way across Europe having a good time. He across the list and uses it to get what he wants. Lots of action and steam between them. Glad to read that they get their happy ever after. Would recommend this story to everyone.
I received this story and leave this unbiased, honest review.

Lady Madeline drops a wicked list she wrote at the park and Duke Daniel finds it after meeting her. Daniel is completely smitten and can’t wait to find her again. When Maddie finds out she’s lost the list, she goes to her friend’s house for help. Little does she know but Daniel is her friend’s brother. She tries to get him to give it back but he won’t until she does everything on the list. It is entertaining to see how Daniel twists the list around to suit him. You will need to read it to find out if they complete the list. It’s a good read, spicy and some angst. I had trouble putting it down.

The story sounded interesting, but I felt it was somehow too descriptive and a bit repetitive, The MMC was young, but experienced when it came to seducing women and he used all his charm with the FMC. I understood the lust and wants he had for her, but the "falling in love" came in as a surprise. The FMC was young and naive, she couldn't decide what she wants, changing her mind every second and I couldn't get to like her/feel for her.

An Adventure/A Near Scandal/Love

It all begins with a book with a list tucked inside; but then a Bump & the list falls- not noticed until it’s too late. An intriguing list of things to do in love. And then to find out who has the list; it must be checked off by only the Duke of her best friend- because he found it. And she must have her list returned..

A wonderful, romantic story.

Two people, both wanting to rebel against everything society deemed people should believe and behave like, but they dared to stand against what society said. Mix it with meddling family a sister drawn into it and a not so nice relative and you have the ideal recipe for a lovely story. Happy ending?

Hot and steamy

Wonderful story showing how the attraction between the two main characters was love from the start and if their mothers had not interfere with them they would have been married a lot sooner

Great story! The characters were very well written and seemed real. I loved the plot. It was captivating and drew one in. It as just a tad too spicy for me, making it lose a star.

Poor

The premise of the story caught my eye. It soon became clear that the standard of writing is poor. This is especially disconcerting as the author has a creative writing degree. It certainly isn’t a question of Americanisms, it’s plain poor style, awkward phrasing, and bad grammar.
There is also quite a lot of unnecessary, repeated ‘waffle’, which I skimmed over. As for the allegedly scandalous list, we never really find out the complete contents. While two elements are scandalous, another (learning to play chess) is innocent, and only made scandalous by Daniel.
So sad as this could have been so much better with a decent editor.

Meh... Daniel is not very likable, and Maddie kept willingly walking into bad situations. I couldn't relate to them at all, so the book fell flat for me.

Unexpected ending.

As with most romance stories, given the characters and their backgrounds you can guess how the ending will be, but you’ll be surprised at how they get there.

I do feel like it was a captivating beginning & their chemistry was fun.

I really didn't like how he was a rake & the fact that his plan was to sleep with her without marriage, makes him a vary detestable man, given the time period & what that would mean for her.

There were some other things that weren't realistic for the time period.

I did really like Selina & there were some nice moments.

Great book

I can't remember when a book enchanted me like this one. I couldn't stop reading. Even if the love of my life was visiting me in my house, I kept stealing time to keep reading. I even finished the book at night when he was sleeping next to me. I never before give my sleeping time for reading. I even love the side characters, which never happened to me. I really loved Augusta. I wish so much that the author will write a book about her. She deserves her happily ever after, and I wish it for her. An intelligent man with strong character who can handle a woman with strong will. I would like to read a book about Selina too. She is so sweet, and I wish she to find love. I would love a book about Christopher, too. Even if he was on the bad side, I like him. He is reliable and serious and his actions helped Meddie had her happy end. He deserves a nice love story, too. I didn't love Daniel. He is a rake, and in the past he conquered women without thinking about consequences for them. He took Maddie maidenhood without ernest intentions. I don't like him but the book is still amazing.

Book one of the Duchess Deals series. This is a delightful quick read on a fun premise. Maddie is in her third season and writes a wish list of things she wishes to do before she is entrapped in marriage - she has a marriage minded mother who repeatedly battles with her older sister about her spinsterhood. Maddie takes this out hidden inside a book when she goes to meet her best friend Selina in the park. As Maddie and her sister are walking home, she accidentally bumps into a striking unknown man and drops the book, with the list falling out. She discovers this later in the day and panics. She rushes around to Selina’s house to seek support, barging into the family study where Selina is normally reading. In her anxious state she blurts out what has happened as soon as enters the room assuming it is Selina in the wing backed chair. Alas she discovers that the chair contains the man she bumped into in the park who very embarrassingly has her list! He introduces himself as Selena’s brother, Daniel, and then scandalously negotiates a deal - he will not tell any one of her list if she completes its items with him and him alone! Maddie is wrapped with embarrassment mixed with desire and feels torn. Daniel is fighting his deep seated fear of marriage but cannot deny how attracted he is to Maddie. What ensues is a fun tale including assertive matchmaking mothers, a strong willed spinster sister, a scheming cousin, a house party with missing puppies adding to the chaos, humour, romance, passion and a HEA. A very enjoyable fun quick read.
