These Days of Us

She needs a nanny. He needs a room.
An arrangement that changes everything...

Jake Johnson doesn’t do permanent. Life is about travelling the world, not putting down roots. The only constant is family.

But when he catches his brother kissing his roommate and best friend, Jake learns family is not as dependable as he thought. Homeless and alone, his next trip can’t come fast enough.

Shy single mum Ellie Brooks doesn’t do temporary. Life is about work and her son, Noah. She doesn’t have time to add dating to the mix, and lacks the confidence to try. The silly crush on Jake doesn't help, not that anything will happen. They're friends, and Noah needs stability, not a flight risk.

But when Ellie’s left without childcare suddenly, Jake comes to her rescue. He’ll be her son’s nanny in exchange for somewhere to live.

It’s only meant to be short term, but their deepening connection is undeniable, and it's not long before their mutual arrangement takes a spicy turn.

As temporary starts to feel like forever—like family—Jake wrestles with his growing feelings and his instinct to leave. But will Ellie risk opening her heart to the man who never stays?

These Days of Us, book three in the London Lovers series, is an opposites attract, single parent romance with a hot male nanny, spicy sex lessons, and a guaranteed happily ever after. Download Jake and Ellie’s story today!

“….you wanted me to be happy, but what if I’m happiest with you?”

📝 mini blurb:
Jake needs a place to stay, and Ellie is unexpectedly without childcare for her 4 year old son Noah.
Solution? Jake lives with them, and watches Noah when Ellie’s at work.

Ellie is used to doing everything on her own, and is very capable, but quickly realizes how nice it is not to HAVE to.

Jake gets bored quickly, often traveling and never staying in one place for too long - until he finds somewhere, and someone (well, two someones) he doesn’t want to leave.

✦ tropes & stuff:
💜 single mom
🙃 opposites attract
🍼 he’s the nanny
🫶🏼 friends to lovers
🏠 temporary roommates
🌶 spicy lessons
🧠 anxiety + PCOS rep
💞 dual 1st person pov

⭐️: 4.5/5
🌶️: open door, several descriptive scenes

💭 what I loved about this one:
- the gender reversal of the typical single parent + nanny trope being a single mom and a male nanny
- dance party bath time 🛁
- “We’re just friends” 😏 sure
- as a SAHM to a 4 year old boy, I particularly enjoyed Jake’s “how hard could it be?” And then spending his first day with Noah 😅
- the mirror scene 🤭
- how much they helped each other grow
- “I like you. You’re the bestest.” 🥹 Jake + Noah together

“What are we doing?” Jake whispered.
“I have no idea,” I whispered back.

🙃 what didn’t quite work for me:
- the writing was a bit repetitive at times
- there wasn't much teaching for "spice lessons," it was more like friends with benefits who explored
- while it was cute and I enjoyed the ride, there wasn’t anything original in it and I feel like I’ll probably forget it all (I couldn’t remember any details from the first two books either)

I loved every single thing about this book! The characters? Perfect. The story? Amazing. The spice? Phenomenal.

Utterly grateful that I got an ARC for this book as the series has quickly become one of my faves! Jake and Ellie had so much chemistry and absolutely brought out the best in each other. He loved her like it was as easy as breathing and she saw him for everything he truly was! They were brilliant together, and then to throw Noah, the cutest little boy, into the mix almost made my heart explode.

This book was total perfection and I can't wait for the next.

Where to start?! This book is simply beautiful. The characters, the love, the care just everything about this love story is perfect.
All Jake needed was someone to see him and love him for his true self. Same with Ellie. But she had more lose. Little Noah was amazing. This one is by far my favourite book of @jrjennerauthor it gave me all the feels. And the tears and boy i cried sad and happy tears!

"My brain needs you to say it because sometimes it lies to me. Sometimes it makes me think one thing when something else is happening."

"Then it's me wanting you, Ellie. It's me wanting you so fucking much."

My heart could burst with how much I love Ellie. How much I love Jake and Noah. How much I love the little family they've created.

Ellie and Jake both deal with their own insecurities, many of which are deeply relatable, but they never fail to show up for one another. The love and support and respect they show the other is so sincere. The way they grow and learn to show love and accept love they deserve in return is so very special and filled me with so much hope.

I became so unbelievably protective of both of them (and Noah) that I kept having to remind myself that I actually really do love Jake's siblings and they're not terrible people, they just don't understand him.

Noah is without a doubt one of the most well-written 4 year olds I've ever read. It was so lovely how involved he is in the story and not just an afterthought, which is so common in single parent romances. He's funny and sweet and his bond with Ellie and Jake is the most adorable and precious thing.

Ellie, Jake, and Noah's story is full of love, so many laugh out loud moments, and a fair amount of tears (mostly happy!). I truly adored this book so much and will be thinking about it for the rest of my days.

Also, would be a crime for me to not mention the chemistry these two have. Off the charts. They're so into each other and the smut is so well written. "Spicy Lessons" is not a trope I seek out because it can be hit or miss, but this works so well and so naturally.

I can't wait to read whatever JR Jenner writes next. Even Oliver's story, but he will have to beg for my forgiveness (jk I know she will make me fall in love with him too).

Thank you to JR Jenner for the ARC in exchange for an honest review! It was truly such a pleasure to get to read.

These days of us by Jr Jenner
Released 25th April

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
🌶️🌶️

These days of us is the third book in the series, I can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend it be read in order as each relates to a Johnson sibling and are mentioned in each book.

After reading the first two books recently I was really looking forward to Jake and Ellie's book and it was amazing. I could not put it down and my favourite so far. This book had me chuckling one minute to absolutely sobbing the next. It brought all the feels.

Jake the youngest brother has never set down roots, always on the move and feels lost and lonely even within his own family. Ellie is also lost and l has also led a sad, lonely life after the tragic lost of her mum and no support system.

After leaving his sisters wedding, he ends up in a pub that he has frequented before, getting so drunk Ellie takes pity on him and let's him sleep on her sofa. After an accident causes Ellie's elderly neighbour unable to help her look after her adorable son Noah, Jake steps in as a manny whilst being able to sleep on a sofa with nowhere else to go. Little by little without knowing they both show up for each other and especially Noah. Creating a family together came so natural to them without even trying and how Jake's bond developed with Noah, it was everything. You have captured the most beautiful love story.

💚Single mum
💚Opposites Attract
💚He's the nanny
💚Friend's to lovers
💚Temporary roommates
💚Sex lessons
💚Shy inexperienced queen
💚Anxiety and pcos rep

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ARC REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

First off, thank you to JR Jenner and her team for the ARC opportunity for this book!

Instantly loved the chemistry and banter between Ellie and Jake. I know its a bit of an insta-love/ attraction but also slow-burn, but I’ve never wanted a slow burn to burn much faster! 😂

Also, as a PCOS girly, I really appreciate authors giving us a representation of what it is to have PCOS, but extra appreciation to JR, for giving a wonderful representation and glimpse of what PCOS really feels like and how it is to live with PCOS for us PCOS girly! Really loved and appreciated that trope there! 👏👏🥹 I loved the hope that it gives with regards to pregnancy, because, I know, that with PCOS, its not impossible, but it can be very hard to get pregnant, so I love how Ellie’s story includes her as a mom. but also, Jake, the man that you are! 👏👏

THE SPICE!! 🌶️🥵Ellie and Jake over here making me hot and bothered! But I love how, theres intimacy in everything they do, not just the spicy scenes, but the little actions/moments they spend together and what those moments feel like for the both of them.

Noah! The cutest and best boy! such a sweetheart! love the relationship between him and Jake

And kudos to JR Jenner for being open and accommodating to a concern I had!

Overall, just the love these two have for each other and the vulnerability Ellie trusts Jake enough to show is just so amazing. I cannot wait for everybody to read this book!

ARC Review

These Days of Us is a heartfelt, emotional journey about unexpected connections and redefining what “family” really means. Ellie is a single mom doing her best to juggle life, work, and raising her sweet 4-year-old son, Noah. She works nights at a bar, relying on her elderly neighbor for childcare. Then comes Jake — a charming, free-spirited freelance photographer with a serious case of wanderlust.

When Ellie finds herself in need of a more stable childcare solution and Jake needs a temporary place to stay, they strike a mutually beneficial arrangement. Jake has zero experience with kids, but surprisingly, he and Noah form an instant bond that’s both heartwarming and real. Watching Jake grow into a nurturing figure, completely outside of his comfort zone, was so moving. The relationship between Jake and Ellie naturally evolves from friends to roommates to something more, and it’s done with such a quiet sweetness that it completely pulled me in.

What I loved most was how the story emphasized that love and family can look different for everyone. Jake’s character development was especially touching, and there were several moments that genuinely brought tears to my eyes. J.R. Jenner has written a beautiful, emotionally rich story that made me root for all three of them every step of the way.

A must-read for fans of slow-burn romance, found family, and stories that stay with you long after the last page.

Review: These Days of Us by JR Jenner

I didn’t go into this ARC with many expectations — honestly, I hadn’t even read the other books in the London Lovers series yet — but after finishing These Days of Us, I know I definitely will now!
First, a huge thank you to JR Jenner for the opportunity to ARC read this wonderful story.

A male nanny? I had no idea what I was in for, but I loved every second of it. It was such a refreshing and sweet twist! Ellie and Noah had my heart from the very beginning — they’re such a cute little family, and Ellie is an incredibly strong woman who you can’t help but root for. But Jake entering their lives? That was pure magic.

I devoured this book and swooned so hard over the journey these three took together. There were even a few moments where crocodile tears threatened, but I stayed strong! I loved how obvious it was to everyone around them just how much Jake and Ellie felt for each other — long before either of them even admitted it. Watching them both be so blind and a little stupid about their own feelings made the slow-burn even more satisfying.

JR Jenner’s writing is so easy and lovely to read — it pulls you right into the story and makes you feel everything the characters are going through. I absolutely adored this book, and I’m so thankful I got the chance to read it early. I’m already counting down the days until the next (and probably final) book in the London Lovers series!

JR Jenner doesn't miss for me. From her very first holiday romance, now four books deep, I've loved them all.

Jake needs a place to stay and Ellie needs last minute care for her son, so when Jake has a late drunken night at the bar where Ellie works and ends up crashing with her, the stars align and he agrees to stay. And when Jake finds out that Ellie is inexperienced despite having a child, he offers to give her no-strings sex lessons. Feelings ensue. But Jake doesn't think he's cut out to stay in one place, and Ellie and her son need someone who wants to commit to them. Delicious, right?

Jake and Ellie gave me all the feelings. I love both sex lessons and single parent romances, but I don't think I've ever read them together. Somehow it all makes total sense here, and the romantic tension as these two become friends, then more, keep me turning pages after I should have gone to sleep. There is something so special about people who are forced to live together for one reason or another and just cannot get away from the person they are starting to have feelings for. There are so many opportunities for domesticity, learning each other's routines, and seeing people all across their days that builds such a realistic intimacy that makes short term relationships seem realistic to me.

This made me want to go back and reread all the other books JR has written, because her writing appeals directly to my brain. Don't sleep on these books.

I really enjoyed Jake and Ellies story from acquaintances to lovers 💚

Jake and Ellie were both lost and lonely, with no one to turn to. When they landed on each other for support, it turned out to be the perfect timing.

This book gave me all the feels. One minute, I had tears in my eyes, the next I was laughing. It was so heartwarming 💕

Ellie was so sweet and lovely. She put everyone before herself, and the way she overthinks everything and always said sorry, definitely resonated.

Although, Jake appeared confident, he was actually quite insecure and sensitive in certain aspects. I loved how thoughtful and caring he was.

I loved how Jake and Ellie were together, how they supported and encouraged one another, brought the other out of their comfort zones and then there's their chemistry🔥

Omg little Noah 🫶 He was the cutest, most adorable little boy. I loved the relationship that he developed with Jake 🥰

This book was the perfect, heartwarming friends to lovers, love story 💚

What to expect:
▫️Single mum
▫️Opposites attract
▫️He's the nanny!
▫️Friends to lovers
▫️Temporary roommates
▫️Sex lessons
▫️Shy inexperienced Queen
▫️Anxiety and PCOS rep
▫️Slow burn

“You wanted me to be happy. What if I’m happiest with you?”

Oh my gosh! I’ve been quite literally so beyond excited to get my hands on this story! JR knows how write a good slow burn and chemistry that keeps you glued to the pages not wanting to stop!

I love a single mom story. Add in a cinnamon roll male lead who falls hard and learns about himself along the way…gone! Forced proximity. Protectiveness. Found family. Little kid cuteness. Texting. Teaching moments. Laugh out loud moments. The list keeps going.

Ellie finds herself in need of a nanny for her little boy. Her friend Jake needs a place to stay before his next traveling adventure. Could he do it? Could he be responsible for a tiny human and not let Ellie down?

What happens when feelings start to change and Ellie and Jake find themselves rethinking what they really need and want? They promised it was just for fun and just until the deadline. They both knew it and agreed. But it’s hard to fight those feelings when someone starts to see you for who you truly are…good and bad.

I loved watching both characters grow and lean into their true selves. It’s so true that those who truly love you will love you for who you are and make you your best self.

I laughed, swooned, and cried during this book, and I loved every minute of it!

I have loved every book in this series and this one is no exception. I absolutely adored this story.

Jake is the self proclaimed "black sheep" of the family. He's made a life of traveling and isn't the type to settle down. So, when he crashes on Ellie's couch and becomes her son's nanny, it's meant to be temporary. Jake doesn't stay anywhere for very long, but he's no longer sure that he wants to leave.

When I say that I adored this story, I do mean every single part of it. These characters have my heart, and although I loved Jake and Ellie, it was little Noah that often stole the show.

I could relate to Ellie in so many ways and I truly felt seen in her character. Her anxiety, worries and insecurities made her a character that I could relate to and I loved seeing her growth as Jake helped to build up her confidence. Jake is such a lovable hero and watching him take on the responsibility of a rambunctious 4 year old was so much fun.

This is a bit of a slow burn romance, but it definitely heats up. There isn't a lot of drama or angst, but this story will definitely tug at your heartstrings. This is another page turner and I can't wait to see what comes next from this author.

Absolutely beautiful.

Ellie is lonely and shy but she’s also strong and a wonderful mother to her adorable four year old son Noah. Jake is a carefree freelance photographer with wanderlust, never staying rooted in one place for long. They find themselves being able to help each other out, Jake needs somewhere to stay and Ellie needs someone to look after Noah while she’s at work.

This is the third book in the series and it was great being back with the chaotic Johnson family and catching up with the characters from the previous books. However, their relationships looked a bit different from Jake’s POV which played a big part of his personality.

I love how Jake and Ellie’s relationship develops, they are opposite personalities that bolster and encourage the other and as their friendship grows so does their attraction. It was great seeing Ellie grow in confidence but also seeing the vulnerable side to Jake and how Ellie and Jake provide him with something that healed his insecurities. Their story made me laugh, smirk and cry. I highly recommend this wonderful slow burn friends to lovers.

ARC REVIEW - 3.5 STARS

TDOU is a sweet, tender read and a good third book in the series. Jake Johnson is handsomely sexy and a great fit for Noah and Eleanor (Ellie) Brooks. His POV was nice to read, written with effort and thought put to the way Jake is truly feeling. This is a friendly romance and had its moments of spice that left Me speechless. NOTE: The Johnson family needs to stop their BS because Jake is sweet and deserves people that believe in his dreams AND HIM! 2. His "running away" was turned into the biggest deal throughout the book, taking over his personality in a way that ticked Me off a bit (WHEN nowadays that is the norm, ESPECIALLY in young adults). He should've NEVER left. He could've stayed. BUT that is just My opion. HOWEVER I did like that Ellie and Jake are just regular people, working, making ends meet and still living a good life. I recommend THESE DAYS OF US to anyone that likes the Following Tropes:
- Single Parent (Mom)
- Male Nanny
- Opposites Attract
- Friends to Lovers
- Forced Proximity (by choice)

If there's one book I've read this year where the mfc resonates mostly with my character, it's Ellie.
I already loved the dedication at the beginning and just knew it was going to be great.
This book gave me all the feels, from laughing out loud to crying.
When Jake, or Jacob by his parents, sees his roommate with his brother at a wedding, he goes to a pub where Ellie, single mother to Noah, works.
When Jake has nowhere to go, Ellie's couch is the place he stays.
But feelings are developing, specially when Jake offers to be a manny for Noah. It can't be that hard, now can it?!
Ellie is such a sweetheart and so is Jake. They were just made for eachother!

Jake, the one who doesn't believe in himself enough to be good for someone and Ellie, who says sorry way too much.

I can go on and on about these two, but add in Noah in the mix and you're in for a book you can't put away and read in one sit.

Enjoy!

Absolute 5 star for me!

“You’re my favourite movie. I’d watch you every damn day if I could.”
I devoured Jake and Ellie’s story!! I loved these two and Ellie’s son Noah soooo much! Jake is always on the move, unwilling to stay in one spot for too long but when he ends up as a “nanny” for his new roommate’s son everything changes.

The way that Jake was able to bond with Noah right away was so adorable. They had the perfect connection!! Plus I loved how Jake was always ready to help Ellie with anything which meant so much to her but Jake wouldn’t have had it any other way. They were an adorable little trio.
“We get to have it all, Ellie. Together. The three of us.”

I just loved everything about jumping back into the London Lovers world.

"In truth, she was intoxicating in ways I’d never experienced."

I'm in love. With all three of them.

Ellie, Jake and Noah's story was funny, heartwarming, harrowing and cosy.

Throw in Bluey, a backwards cap and a green flag man who cares for you during your period and I think Jake might be catapulted to the top of my favourite book boyfriends.

The way their relationship developed steadily, with both concerned about the impact on Noah was beautiful, but when the pull was finally too much to take and they came together, I kicked and squealed so much.

I sobbed through the final few chapters and proper ugly cried at Noah's words in chapter 31.

The way the family relationships developed throughout too was a huge part of why I loved it too and I was glad those rifts were able to be repaired.

Can't wait for book 4 ❤️❤️❤️

Firstly, love a London based story - One of my faves! This is book 3 of the London Lovers series, a stand-alone with interconnected characters following the Johnson siblings. This one sees Jake, the youngest finding his HEA. Jake is all about the short terms in life, travel, no relationships, nothing to pin him down. Ellie is a single mum with the cutest little 4yr old. She’s all about keeping things steady and reliable for their life. They couldn’t be more opposite and yet, they seem to be the perfect match. Great story telling for both of them to discover true love and family found. Jake was absolutely chefs kiss with his relationship with Noah, it was awesome to see!

OMG LOVE LOVE LOVED THIS ONE!!
I think this is my new favourite in the London Lovers series...

This was such a good story. I loved how both characters were built up; they truly had depth and I felt like I knew them personally by the end. Both of them were believable and had authentic, painful stories.

I loved the developing relationship between Jake and Noah and how fatherhood kinda crept up on him but felt so right when it did.

I also loved that Jake and Ellie didn't just fall for each other immediately, the pacing was good, it felt right in terms of building that connection and when the steam hit; OH MY LAWD!!!! *fans self* I think this was the spiciest of the series too which I am definitely not mad about!

LOVE LOVE LOVED IT - ALL THE FREAKING STARS!

[ARC review]

These Days of Us by J.R. Jenner had me in a chokehold from page one. Ellie and Jake’s story is the perfect mix of slow-burning heat, raw emotion, and tender vulnerability that just hits. I couldn’t get enough.

Their chemistry? Off. The. Charts. The “spicy lessons”? Let’s just say I was grinning, blushing, and absolutely living for it. But beyond the steam, this story dives deep into healing, anxiety, and what it means to truly show up for someone. One quote that punched me right in the heart was:
“My brain needs you to say it because sometimes it lies to me. Sometimes it makes me think one thing when something else is happening.”
It’s so real and beautifully written.

And little Noah? MVP of my heart. His one-liners at the most inappropriate moments had me wheezing. That kid is chaotic, hilarious, and so full of love—an absolute gem.

Now let’s talk about Oliver. Do I like him? No. Am I intrigued? Yes. Will he need to BEG for my forgiveness in his book? Oh, absolutely. Like, hands and knees, full grovel. (And yes, a man should—as he should!)

Huge thank you to J.R. Jenner for the ARC! I feel so lucky to have read this early. These Days of Us is heartfelt, hot, and unexpectedly funny in all the right ways. If you love messy, meaningful romance with spice and soul, this one’s a must-read.

This book was great. It was beautifully written and a really enjoyable read. I loved Ellie and Jake and liked that they were both really relatable. The chemistry between them was also great from the start. Although the Nanny trope has been done a million times, I really enjoyed that this book turned it on it's head. It was refreshing and gave it a point of difference.
I don't know if "cozy" is the right word, but I genuinely got wrapped up in this book and didn't want it to end.

Thank you so much to the author for my ARC!

✨ARC Review✨ Please don't judge the lateness of this post against the book. That is on me 100%!

These Days of Us is book 3 in the London Lovers series and features Jake, single mom Ellie, and adorable cutie, Noah. Jake needs a place to crash and Ellie needs a babysitter for her son. Sounds like the perfect arrangement.

Jake has just attended his sister's wedding and got quite the shock. Unable to continue staying on his BFF's couch, he's drowning his sorrows at a Pub. The Pub where Ellie works. When Jake overdoes it, Ellie takes him back to her place and the next morning, Jake has a couch, something to do before his next photography trip, and Ellie has a manny.

As Jake learns to be a manny, how hard can a kid be, LOL forever, Ellie knows this is only temporary, if only her emotions got the message. As Jake and Ellie get closer, so does Jake's next trip.

I liked that Ellie was sort of a normal single mom. She's had a hard life, but presses on, providing for her and Noah. Jake's transition during the book was something a lot of people go through. I also loved how through Jake and Ellie's relationship, Jake's relationship with his family was affected. How he could see their love. I especially loved his mom's automatic acceptance of Ellie and Noah and taking on the role of grandparent.

Yall, if you are not reading this series, download it now. Thank you for the ARC JR!

Book 3 in the London lovers series and it follows Jake and Ellie. I’ve been looking forward to this book and it was everything I wanted it to be.

We have Jake, always on the go doesn’t do permanent and his lack of settling down seems a slight bone of contention with certain members of his family. Misunderstood, he’s stopped trying to explain himself to them and spends his time jetting off and focusing on his photography.

Then we have Ellie, single mum to Noah whose focus is her son Noah and working to provide a stable living home for him.

When Ellie is left without childcare suddenly and Jake finds himself having to change his living arrangements they come to the agreement, he’ll be her son’s nanny in exchange for somewhere to live.

I absolutely loved the dynamic between these two, there was the attraction but they both really had to learn to open themselves up to love and be loved in return.

Though dealing with different insecurities they both just really wanted to be seen. And that they could be that person for each other and seeing it unfold was such a delight, my heart was full seeing them be a support system for each other and watching their friendship grow and transform into so much more.

Jake’s understanding of Ellie, when she needs to talk and when to change the subject to set her at ease was great. I loved that she felt seen after flying under the radar and dealing with her anxiety alone for all her life.

“She baffled me in the best possible way. She might’ve loved puzzles, but she was the only one I ever wanted to solve”

I adore both Jake and Ellie and they both had traits I could relate too.

Seeing Jake’s relationship form with Noah was a highlight too.

This is all over the place but basically I laughed, I cried, I swooned and I fell in love with this little family.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again I just love Jr Jenner’s writing. The ease in which I slip into all of her books is a delight. I fall for her characters every time.
