The third installment of the Nightshade series does not disappoint! From the beginning of this series, we have seen Caine & Gaela’s love story evolve. Along the way and especially in this installment, we watch them conquer major obstacle to their love and strength. While they are the main focus of this book, we get to see more of Caine’s sister, Ariel and are introduced to the rest of Caine’s brothers. What a wondrous world Brenda has woven! Every character is brilliant and has depth and uniqueness written like none other.
Caine is beautifully dark and broken in his love for Gaela. Unbeknownst to him, his mother, Silvanna (who I LOVE TO HATE and she makes me want to throw my kindle – you may need bubble wrap!) is up to her usual treacherous trickery sending Caine and Gaela on a collision course against time. Beloved is a roller coaster ride of emotion – love, anguish, grief and unwavering loyalty, soul shattering. I cannot wait for book 4 and more of this world Brenda Tetreault has created! Provided for an honest review. 5 out of 5 stars.

This is an awesome book and does the storyline of the two main lovers justice. Caine and Gaela are my favorite couple from the Nightshade series and I am glad to see their story brought full circle. I binge read this book and recommend it to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance with a good story. Bonus points, the guys in this series are strong sexy men who love the women they're with without being borderline or straight up abusive / possessive / controlling.

This is the third book in the Nightshade series. I read the first book almost by accident but with nary a thought that I would still be reading and looking forward to more sirens and nymphs and dryads and every variety of monster that has ever hidden under my bed.

That is what happens when an author pulls you in and puts a spell on you till you finish the first five star read with a desperate need to read the next.

I won't re-hash the book blurb and there is not a lot I can share without giving away the author's cleverly convoluted plot. So...Ms Tetreault...

How many times and in how many ways can the same person die? How often are you going to drag your readers through the dark pits of despair, waiting till they have rent clothing and wept themselves hoarse just for you to say "only kidding we can reincarnate this one again"? Are your characters like cats? Do I need to stock up on soft tissues, wine and chocolate?

I imagine you with a time line saying "this one died early on in the last book before being brought back. Yep, another turn on the ghost train for you".

I can't fault Brenda Tetreault for it. It makes for incredibly good reading. The tension is palpable. I found myself biting a fingernail - something I gave up forty years ago.

This time around the author may have gone too far. Her latest deceased decided that "deaths gentle touch" had wiped out pain and fear so was happy to embrace it. Then, newly reincarnated (again) set off on a calamitous path leading everyone around them towards destruction. Death prepared for open season.

Don't you just know it - Brenda Tetreault pulls out her magic wand and there is another shift, more ripples in the atmosphere and...and...and I don't want to ruin the ending for you... Me...as long as these hit five stars I will keep reading.

Let me state that I don't do the "normal" kind of reviews. I don't summarize what the story was about. Why? Because the author has already done that and I see no point and repeating him or her. My review consists of whether or not I liked the book and any questions or comments I may have about it. The shorter the review the more I liked the story. Obviously, the longer and more questions/comments asked, the more issues I found within the story.

Moving on...

I received an audiobook copy of this book for an honest review. While this was the first story in the series I've read, I loved it! It was engaging throughout the majority (I did get a little confused with all the characters being introduced at the beginning). I'm definitely interested in reading books 1 and 2 as well as the next in the series.

The narrator did a great job although she was a really fast talker. I tried slowing it down to .75 (normal is set at 1), but then she came across as too slow. So, the majority of the story was told as though she were in a race to finish as quickly as possible, while there were a few occasions where she spoke at a normal pace. Either way, she did a great job with the variety of character voices and was able to make each one stand out.

I would recommend this book (maybe the series after I read the first two books) to others.

As this world grew, there was a lot going on. Gaela and Caine had remained apart for the safety of Gaela. His pain at believing her dead was compounded by the hurt of finding out about her secret. I loved how strong the love was between these two despite the curses and hatred surrounding them. The ending brought tears to my eyes as things finally worked for them. It was nice to see how the characters from other stories still entwine within the pages as well as meet new and just as tortured souls. I look forward to the next story. Sonja Field did another wonderful job bringing this world to life and pulling me in.

I received a copy of this audiobook as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.

I just don't even know where to start! I think Brenda Tetreault is my new woman crush! Every book I read I fall in love with her masterful use of the English language, I mean I wish I had the grasp she has! This book was no different!

I was excited to read this one, but I took my time getting to it because I wanted to devote my full attention to it! I fell in love with Gaela and Caine in Tempted. My emotions were once again on a monstrous roller coaster as I read. I started out sad, because they were apart. Then I was happy because they were together. Then I was angry because they were fighting. Then I was happy because they were working it out. Then I was furious because Gaela felt the need to sacrifice herself! Next came sheer panic for Gaela and Ava. Followed by complete and utter respect for the resolve that Gaela had! She was one determined momma bear wanting to save her cub! Then at the end I sat with my mouth open in complete shock. WHY MUST THIS WOMAN KEEP DYING!!!!!!!

Lastly I felt relief! I mean that was some intense stuff! Finally Gaela and Caine can be happy! They can live in peace and raise their family!

Throughout the whole book Brenda kept introducing all the fascinating new characters! I cannot wait until we get to read each and every one of their stories!

Bravo Brenda, Bravo!

This book had me in tears, made me laugh, broke my heart and healed it. I felt like I was right there experiencing everything the characters were. Not only do you get to read how Gaela and Cain end up, you get to know more about the other characters. I was in a hard place because I wanted to keep reading to see what happens but then not wanting the book to end.

Once again author Brenda Tetreault did not disappoint with this book and the story she weaved. I'm as much a fan of a happy ending as the neutral, but you have to keep me interested, which is exactly what was accomplished. I look forward to the next book.

Narrator did a good job. She has a nice voice and gave a good performance. An enjoyable listen.

Have really enjoyed this series so far! I didn’t love this one as much as the first two, but still liked it. I think the main miss for this one with me is I just didn’t care for Gaela, and Gaela and Caine’s romance didn’t feel as touching and deep as the previous couples. They weren’t even an actual couple before the curse made him “kill” her; the story of them getting together in the past just didn’t work for me, felt like Gaela was too desperate. They don’t have the trust there between them since they really weren’t in much of a relationship, so she doesn’t really know who Caine is. Her lying and withholding his child from him is probably another reason I didn’t care for her; I get her thinking, but if she really knew him, she’d know that Caine would do everything in his power to protect them. If you have all this love for someone, wouldn’t you do everything in your power to find a cure for a curse upon them? Not just runaway and live in seclusion for 3 years. With that said, there is a good passion to their connection, and they do have some sweet moments. I also didn’t care for all the different POVs; apparently, everyone is finding their lust/soulmate. I got tired of the first meet scenarios with each couple. A lot of these possible future couples have cliffhanger endings too, so beware of that. The overall story is an interesting one though; some good danger, and I do like the overall vibe to this story. I still do like this series, and want to continue on with this author’s other books.

I listened to this via audible, so ill start with the narrator. I enjoyed her verity of different voices, she does talk fast so you will want to adjust accordingly. That being said I found her pace much better in this book then the first two.

The story has lots of twists and characters. It is hard to follow at times so it's a book you have to be paying attention to otherwise you will miss a transition. I find there are many story lines that flow through this book and I would prefer to usually focus on one at a time. This is just à personal preference

As I've noted in the first two books I have been enjoying the story line and will be continuing on with the series.

I was so excited to get these two characters story. They have really been on a trial. Their coming together has been difficult to say the least. The author did a good job finalizing their story. I was shocked and surprised a couple different times.

We get to see more characters including Caine and all his brothers. There are many different storylines running at the same time.
I did listen to this on audio. Sonja Field narrated this wonderful story. She did a great job keeping all the voices different but yet the same from story to story.

This story was unlike any I had heard before. The director put a new spin on the paranormal that I really enjoyed. The characters were well developed and I fell in love with Gaela and Cain. It was an emotional roller coaster, one that the narrator pulled off extremely well. I love audio's we're the story can be told and I'm not distracted by the voice but drawn into the experience because of the voice. I would definitely recommend this audio and can't wait to get my hands on the next one.

Enjoyable. Lacked cohesiveness between the two story lines and jumped around in a lot of characters heads, but it was interesting and moved well.

Beloved: A Nightshade Novel
By: Brenda Tetreault

Fantasy sex/ romance scenes, some corse language and violence, but doesn’t go into gory details.

The story is well constructed. Leaves you wanting more. Well Worth a credit.

Narrated by: Sonja Field. Suits the book. She brings the characters alive with their own individual unique voice, she does a wonderful job.

I just love this story. Can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.
