A Journey to the Centre of the Earth

When Professor Von Hardwigg and his nephew Henry discover a mysterious parchment, little do they know that it will change their lives forever. After many hours of studying the manuscript, and a great deal of painstaking research, they finally decipher the hidden code. It dates back to the sixteenth century, and is written by an Icelandic philosopher, who claims to have found a passage to the centre of the Earth. Is it a hoax? Or is it the greatest scientific discovery of the day? There is only one way for them to find out. And so begins an adventure where the two men, accompanied by their guide Hans Bjelke, set out to climb Mount Sneffels. On reaching the top of the mountain, they search for the crater that will supposedly take them to the centre of the Earth. The promise of finding a subterranean fantasy world, filled with prehistoric life forms and mythical monsters, drives them on. Will they really reach the centre of the Earth, or is it all a myth?

Novels of French writer Jules Gabriel Verne, considered the founder of modern science fiction, include Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864) and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873).

This author who pioneered the genre. People best know him for Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870).

Verne wrote about space, air, and underwater travel before people invented navigable aircraft and practical submarines and devised any means of spacecraft. He ranks behind Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie as the second most translated author of all time. People made his prominent films. People often refer to Verne alongside Herbert George Wells as the "father of science fiction."

I have always been a fan of Jules Verne since I read Around the world 80 days and like reading graphic novels.The artists have done a commendable job to picturise Jules Verne's classic.I cannot think of giving lower than five stars to this classic.Its a must read..

After so many years, I continue to be enchanted by the thrilling and imaginative expedition into the bowels of the earth. After completing the abridged and unabridged versions, a graphic novel adaptation of Jules Verne's most celebrated story felt like the next logical step.

Decent artwork and concise storytelling serve as a gateway to anyone who wants to take a tentative step into the world of A Journey to the Centre of the Earth.

I enjoyed this graphic novel treatment of the classic adventure. However, the illustrations could have been better. The rendering of the battle between the sea monsters was especially poorly done.

The book was speaking in an old fashion sort of way the whole book which didn't really appeal to me. I only read this book because i had to choose a classic novel for school. Still didn't like it but it was definitely a classic.
