Remember the story about a beast imprisoning a maiden to atone for her father’s sins? This is like that.
Except not. Billionaire Wade Darian is a beast in attitude only. And I’m not a maiden, although the label does fit in ways I'm not thrilled about, if you know what I mean. This CEO is my brother’s boss trying to prove to his stockholders that diversity isn’t just a line in the company policy by arranging a Pride retreat. When my brother disappears the day of the event, his bossy bosshole boss insists I take my brother’s place. Only, you guessed it, there’s no mansion with a beautiful library and dancing dinnerware. I’m stuck for three days at a campground in Southern Missouri with a survivalist overlord, snooty employees, and a token gay guy.
Me. I'm the token gay guy.
Happy Pride to me.
Did I mention the killer squirrels?

3.5 stars. This book started off soooo good. I was so incredibly into it but unfortunately the mystery just got worse and worse as I read. The way the mystery was solved made no sense to me. We were being told what happened at the same time as the side characters even though the book was from the POV of the person figuring out the mystery. It just made absolutely zero sense.
I did enjoy the dynamic and vibe between Canyon and Wade. It was neat seeing that develop and Canyon standing up to the “boss hole” Wade. The blurb makes the premise sound absolutely ridiculous but it did make sense the more I read (unlike the mystery). We did miss some important parts in their relationship I found so keep that in mind when deciding to read this book or not.
With some editing I think this book would have been amazing. I am interested in reading some others in this series though.
When you have so many ARCs due and so many TBRs to catch upon, naturally, you read a book that just debuted today. Here's DK Sutton's "Camping with the Boss." It's part of the multi-author series Pride Summer Camp.

DK said this book was different than the other books they wrote, mainly due to the Daddy nature of it. But it also just generally felt new for them. It was dramatic but not overly so. And it was a fairy tale retelling, which I'm allllways down for, but I don't think DK has done one before (I could be wrong).
I freaking loooooved these two. They were glorious! Was their love quick? Sure. Was it true? Hell. Yes.
And oddly enough, I loved the almost-too-many conflicts and secrets and confusing drama. It really added to the plot, the climax, and their love story.
I almost wish it was longer. Almost. Buuuut, they're timeline and their story was perfect just the way it was (even if I cried).
Trigger Warnings: off-page death of parents during childhood, interoffice politics and conflicts, past moments of child abuse, and more.
This was delightful! It was a sweet romance with an intriguing mystery aspect. 4.5⭐
The whole time I was wondering who done what alongside Wade and Canyon. I was hoping Wade would talk sooner to Canyon about everything and they would try to resolve that mystery together ala Scooby Doo. Of course they didn't. *sigh
The communication between everybody was just really bad. It felt like they started discussions or fights but either didn't finish or finished off page, that was a bit frustrating. I have still some questions after finishing the book but oh well.
Of course it's kinda the trope but I don't understand why they acted like their relationship couldn't last after the retreat?! If it is because of Wade being in the closet, they were NOT subtle. He also wasn't an employee, at least not really.
I'm also not interested in Daddy/boy dynamics so this part was whatever. The sex scenes didn't do anything for me but I'm glad they were quite short.
Overall they were a great couple and balanced each other out well. They helped each other to overcome fears and to enjoy life again. I love characters like Wade, that act like an asshole but are hiding a scared little boy inside.
Going into Camping with the Boss, I expected a light Daddy/boy kink-fueled rom-com, and while that dynamic is part of the story, it’s surprisingly understated. In fact, by the time those elements came up, I had honestly forgotten this was part of a series that includes that particular kink. Instead, what I got was a funny, heartfelt, and sometimes emotionally sharp opposites-attract romance set at a corporate retreat in the middle of the woods, meant to demonstrate the company's diversity.
Wade - the 'bosshole' - is the kind of gruff, guarded love interest who seems designed to make you hate him, only to turn out to be the character you like the most. He's all growls and sharpness, but there's a genuine depth and care behind the armor. Canyon, it turns out, is Wade's kryptonite. He's absolutely charming while not allowing anyone to take advantage of his kindness. He's deceptively devious, disarmingly observant, and completely in need of someone to take care of him - whether he'll admit it or not. Both men have suffered similar traumas, but it is the aftermath of those events that shaped who they are now. And while their chemistry is almost instantaneous, what stands out is how the relationshiop grows. There's banter, vulnerability and some truly sweet moments as they reveal their hurts to each other.
The book does have a few predictable beats - the third-act conflict was pretty expected - but I didn't feel like they were cleared up easily. Rather, it felt like both Wade and Canyon went through the suffering you would expect from that kind of drama, which just added to the emotional payoff of the romance. This is pretty much an insta-love story, taking place over the course of a week, so you'll have to suspend any disbelief you may have that people can fall in love that quickly. Despite that, it felt like their HEA was earned. Turns out, a lot can happen in a week at camp.
If you're looking for a moderately steamy MM romance with a small dash of kink and a solid emotional core, this is the book for you. Just don't expect a full-on Daddy/boy story - this is more about finding love in unexpected places.
[I received an advanced copy of this book. All reviews and ratings are my own.]
This is part of the Pride Camp 2025 multi author series and features a company’s first annual, one week, Pride retreat with a grouchy (marshmallow centered) bosshole and a snarky, activities director who was coerced by said bosshole to participate as the token gay guy just because he had the misfortune of being related to a company employee.
Both MCs were absolutely adorable! Wade, his company’s CEO, kinda came off as a Grade A jerk but you could tell from the very beginning that he was really a secret softie who had, and continued to, suffer a lot (I could not STAND his aunt by the way!!) and was unfortunately perceived as cruel and unfeeling by his employees. And Canyon, that boy was a mess but I loved him anyway. Forced to take part in the retreat in his brother’s stead, he didn’t miss an opportunity to rile Wade up but he wasn’t fooling anyone, everyone knew he was attracted to the big boss man. And the mystery of who the traitor was turned out to be the cherry on top of an already good book! I tell you, I waffled back and forth so many times on who I thought it was, it became almost like a game—I had a ball!
I have to say, I’m not a huge fan of D/s books but I’ve read a lot of this author’s other books and decided to take a chance and overall, I’m glad I did. There was a minute there that I wasn’t too crazy about but it was brief and didn’t play a large part in the book so it didn’t bother me a much. The romance of it was top notch though so, would I read it again? Yeah, most likely. I was definitely sad to see it come to an end because the connection between the two MCs was amazing. I think I’d also like to read a book about Jared and Ander if it ever came out. For Wade and Canyon though, 4.25 stars for a book that really deserves 4.5 but because of rounding, doesn’t quite make it to a 5. Awesome book though.
I received a copy of this book for free from GRR but am voluntarily leaving a review.
These Pride Summer Camp 2025 books have been delightful, each one unique and a fun read. This offering by D. K. Sutton takes place at a summer camp for a work team building retreat to celebrate diversity in the company that River, Canyon’s brother, works for. River had organized everything and has now disappeared, leaving Wade, his “boss hole”, in the lurch. Wade recruits Canyon to help in his brother’s place. Canyon’s brattiness and Wade’s take charge attitude bring the two together as they flirt with the attraction between them, Wade’s Daddy vibe strongly appealing to Canyon’s desire for someone to take care of him for a change, to praise him as a good boy. As the activities unfold, tensions as well as fun times move the retreat along, until the last day when trouble arrives to stir everything up and bring company division at the top into play, and to solve the secrets that have been hidden for awhile.
There is an interesting cast of side characters that could make good main characters for further books if the author wanted to go that route, but there is no hint of further books. I would like a book with River, or maybe Ander, too.
The world building of the camp itself and the activities reminded me of summer camps I attended in my younger years, just the activities were aimed more for adults, but some, like trust falls, would be usual ones. I enjoyed the interactions between Ward and Canyon as they got closer together, and smiled at some of the petty squabbles, the campfire stories, and the element of intrigue and secrets behind the scenes from the other campers as the days unfolded.
Overall, this was an entertaining read, one I could immerse myself in and just go with the flow. I think it is one of my favorites from the series so far.
CAMPING WITH THE BOSS is part of the Pride Summer Camp 2025 series and can be read as a standalone.
Whilst this is a romance, it is also a mystery, all wrapped up nicely with a company retreat, and a little Daddy bow on the top. Canyon and River are struggling to keep their house and their car. River works for Wade Darian and has set up a retreat, but then he disappears. Wade is none too impressed, and Canyon ends up filling River's shoes. BUT there's more going on than just Wade and Canyon getting jiggy with it. Everyone's got secrets. Who will share first?
I thoroughly enjoyed this story! There is an abundance of smaller mysteries going on, such as who is stealing the desserts from the break room, and you get answers to all of them. Obviously, the big mystery is who is behind all the drama within the company. The answer to that one, when it came, didn't come as a surprise, but I don't think it was meant to.
I loved Wade and Canyon so much, but I also want to see Ander and Jared have their story. And maybe Jet and River too. You can see where I'm going with this, surely? Suffice it to say, this was a brilliant story with amazing characters that I hope to read more of in the future. Definitely recommended by me. 4.5 rounded up.

Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books! Jun 30, 2025
Camping with the Boss, DK Sutton's contribution to 2025's Camp Pride multiauthor series was an absolute delight to read. Lite, refreshing with really likeable mains and secondaries. Canyon started out as a an agoraphobic worrywart. But once he steps outside his comfort zone, he soars. Wade Darian, CEO of Darian Enterprises, is not so lovingly known as a bosshole by Canyon's brother, River. He's pushy and bossy, can't use the word 'please' to save his life, and has an extremely short fuse. Canyon falls into lust almost immediately. They resist each other for maybe, half a day. There's a little bit of angst. Both men were orphaned due to accidents and they're pushed into a caretaker role with their younger brothers. But there was so much light and joy. Canyon is pure sunshiny sass to Wade's growling grump. So much fun to read. There are two really supportive best friends, two secretive brothers, and one evil ice queen. Wade's employees are zany and well written and totally enthusiastic (not) about team building. DK throws in a little corporate espionage and a grumpy cat named Taffy. This was a fun, easy read, the best of this year's Pride as far as I'm concerned. I'm looking forward to what comes next from this author. I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my review.
Pacing is a little off. I didn’t get enough of the squidgy love feeling I enjoy because there just wasn’t enough development.
This book lighting fast became a Daddy/Boy book. I’m not mad about it, but this book really felt it was trying to shoe horn in more than it really needed into a book with a 4 day timeline.
One of the MCs has an internal struggles with “knowing” the other after HOURS and it’s a little childish that he’s upset that he isn’t so “special”…
”But I thought… Wade had broken his rules because of me. Because I’m special. And I’m not. He’s broken this rule before. How many times? Is this who he is?”
The whiplash was intense. The MCs meet, fall in instant lust, the first sweetheart happens within 13 hours of meeting, one MC is de flowered (🤢) within 72hrs, then there is big time drama, emotional vomiting into ornamental plants and the L word. All within 4 days…
As far as books go I didn’t hate it. I actually enjoyed most of it. When I get over the things that got hooked in my brain. For example the BILLIONAIRE MCs car is an Acura…he drives a freakin Honda and the other MC gushes about how luxurious it is…
End of the day, it’s a pretty fast paced story with an attempted mystery plot that I’m not upset I read.
This book had vibes of enemies to lovers, Cinderella with an evil step aunt, and a bit of Beauty and the Beast. Wade Darien is CEO of his family's company and is having a Pride Retreat to demonstrate how diverse and inclusive his company is due to a former employee accusing him of discrimination. Other than his best friend, he doesn't know who in his company to trust. He arrives to pick up his PA, River, who organized the events for the retreat to find out that he has run off. Instead he finds River's brother, Canyon, and convinces him to take River's place by offering him money and promising not to fire River. Canyon works part time and had several heart surgeries when he was a child. He has been stressing about money and either losing their home or their vehicle. River has told Canyon all about his horrible boss. At first, the two men don't get along at all, however, Wade is intrigued by Canyon due to Canyon not being intimidated by him and making snarky remarks. The two men find themselves attracted to each other and later being bonding over each of their traumas involving the loss of their parents. This was a fun read with some insta-attraction and quick falling in love between the two MC's.
This was a MM romance that was bit more angsty and mysterious than the fun camp vibe I was initially thinking it was about. In fact, there was no fun camp vibe honestly, it was wrapped up in mystery from the beginning. It seemed everyone had secrets they were keeping and nothing came undone until the last few chapters when the shit hit the fan.
It was mildly entertaining when all the things came to ahead, a bit like the friend's episode where everyone kept shouting out truths during thanksgiving.
The Daddy/s kink was only slightly there, and even then it wasn't too spicy, as in some parts were not described in detail, so i'd say like a 2 on the spice scale for me, since this was not a smut centered story.
Overall I had high hopes for this book, but it didn't hit the mark for me upon finishing it. It had the required HEA I was looking for, and elements of things I liked, but it just didn't do it for me overall.
It also seemed like the author was setting up a next book with two other characters, but then it was announced they were together by the end of the book, so there goes that. It would have been interesting to see what was the issue with them and have them work through that.
🏳️🌈Only one room 🏳️🌈 Daddy Kink 🏳️🌈 Boss/ Employee
This is part of a multi author series and I absolutely loved these two characters with their different dynamics and personalities!
A five day Pride Retreat team building event organised by Canyon Drake’s brother- River for his bosshole Wade Darian became the best thing to ever happen to them!
Canyon had to step in for his younger brother when he dropped his boss at the last minute and this is where their adventure begins…
An asshole boss that is not what he portrays to be, team building exercises that leads to more conflict, estranged brothers, company espionage and deception, discovering a Daddy kink and secret relationships is among all the mayhem and chaos that transpires when bratty Can and his Daddy discover so much more than they expected!
I loved the concept of the engaging storyline, the plot build and character development although it was fast, furious but oh so steamy, it was real!
A sweet epilogue follows a year later!
I voluntarily received an ARC from GRR for an honest non biased review.
I had so much fun with this book! It’s part of the Pride Summer Camp 2025 series, but it totally works as a standalone.
When Canyon steps in last-minute to cover for his brother at a Pride-themed company retreat, he has no idea he’s about to end up rooming with Wade—his brother’s grumpy, intimidating boss. Cue tension, snark, bratty banter, unexpected chemistry… and a whole lot of steam. (Also: Daddy kink discovery arc? Yes please.)
Wade turns out to be a lot more than his reputation suggests, and their connection deepens as they bond over grief, trauma, and a shared need for something real. There’s even a corporate sabotage subplot and a few mini-mysteries along the way (yes, including stolen desserts).
I loved the dynamic between Canyon and Wade—brat meets bossy in the best way. And the epilogue? So sweet. Definitely hoping we get stories for the side characters too!
Tropes - Boss/Employee - Only One Room - Daddy Kink - Fast, chaotic, and steamy
If you're into spicy workplace romance with some campy chaos, found family feels, and a dash of mystery? You’ll want to add this to your TBR.
I loved this book! The story of Canyon and Wade is full of love, laughter, and a lot of surprises. Wade is actually the boss of River, Canyon’s brother. But when River is MIA for a company Pride retreat, Wade threatens River’s job to get Canyon to take his place. There has been an issue in the past that leans towards exclusivity in the company being the problem. Canyon steps into his brother’s role in the retreat but an overwhelming scenario will have Canyon ending up a lot closer to Wade then he expected. There is amazing chemistry between Canyon and Wade and neither seems to be able to fight it. But there are secrets abounding and tensions run high as the week goes on. When Wade’s step-aunt shows up, he knows there is trouble afoot. Canyon and River will devise an activity to weed out the truth and when everything is revealed, the truth is shocking! I love how the team comes together to bring down the bad guys and Wade and Canyon will get to have their happily ever after.
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
This book is part of the multi-author Pride Camp series, which includes stories with Daddies/Mommies, littles, pets, and love in all shapes and sizes. This book involves a Daddy/boy pairing, though other than a few comments in the heat of the moment, it’s a subtle kink — some dirty talk, a character with panic attacks, and mentions of past child abuse.
Their romance, in theory, works. Uptight and controlling Wade with light hearted and playful Canyon, very much a cat and dog pairing. However, it’s also very fast.
The book is well written, and considering how many side characters there are who all get scenes and small moments, the author does a good job with keeping everyone distinct. It’s just the pacing that kept this book from a higher rating, and a few typos here and there.
This is kind of a whodunit without the murder. Wade Darian, the CEO of a digital solutions company, takes his management team on a week-long camp retreat. The team he doesn't trust. It doesn't help that he's a butthole. Many employees are afraid of him, hate him, or don't respect him. Someone is scheming to oust Wade and gain control of his company. He has no idea who.
Canyon's brother, River, is Wade's PA. He was instrumental in setting up the retreat and is supposed to attend it too. But, he goes MIA. Wade demands that Canyon attends in River's stead. Canyon is offered 3X his brother's salary for his participation. The money can ease River's and his money woes.
There's angst and steam. The imagery of the retreat's attendees and activities is easily imagined. The characters' interactions are just as important as the romance and mystery. You're kept guessing as to who is sabotaging Wade. This book is highly entertaining and enjoyable. I recommend it.
Canyon is struggling to keep all the bills paid. He counts on his brother, River, working, but something is up with him. When his boss, Wade, shows up to find him, Canyon has no clue what is going on. Wade offers him little choice but to go to camp in River’s or River could lose his job. Canyon resolves to help Wade run the retreat, a retreat designed to improve diversity. Canyon will also have to spy on the participants to figure out who the traitor is. Canyon cannot believe he is camping with squirrels, s’mores and fishing as well as one bosshole.
These two were such opposites but equally as adorable. As Canyon spent more time with Wade, he realized Wade uses his bossholiness to cover his true nature. As the two get closer amid campfire stories, fights, and other activities, they find something they would like to keep. A truly enjoyable story, Camping with the Boss is sure to tug at your emotions and have you smiling. The villain deserves everything coming. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Camping with the Boss is part of the Pride Summer Camp 2025 series featuring Wade and Canyon. Wade is the CEO of a company and Canton’s brother River works for Wade and organized a Pride camping retreat for Wade’s upper management. River disappears, Canyon takes his place, and Wade and Canyon very very quickly develop a relationship with a dash of Daddy kink. Both Wade and Canyon have a history of death of parents (TW) and one has a history of physical and emotional abuse (TW). There’s an underlying mystery about which of the employees is … not a team player that runs the whole thread and really is what drives the relationship between these two. There’s some suspension of disbelief right from the get go surrounding how what is going on with these two and River’s disappearance is addressed but still kind of weird. I did really like the characters who had more depth than I was expecting and the mystery, if not perfect, really kept me reading late into the night. It’s a three star book that gets an extra half star for keeping me invested, rounding up.
This is part of the Pride Camp series, but they are all standalones. I read it in one day because i couldn't put it down. Really enjoyed it - just lots of fun.
River's boss, Wade, comes to pick him up to go to the camp retreat they have planned for the company's management team, but River is gone. Canyon, his brother, gets talked into taking River's place. There are immediate sparks between CEO Wade and Canyon - probably the reason Wade suggests such a silly thing in the first place. From there it's on to 5 days of camp activities, falling in love, company intrigue (talk of pushing Wade out of CEO / all kinds of secrets and plots and plans / who's stealing the sweets out of the lunches / who's got a crush on who). It's just a lot of fun. There's a bit of 'Daddy' kink going on between Wade & Canyon as well, but if that's not your thing, it's not a problem, as most of that is pretty sparse and easily skipped.
This story had a ton of elements, enemies to lovers, boss/employee, mystery, hurt/comfort, very light daddy/boy, forbidden, tragic pasts, and troublesome younger brothers.
Wade, our bosshole Daddy, is operating on thin ice within his company, so when his PA, River, disappears for the retreat that he had planned, Wade decides that his brother, Canyon, is a fine enough replacement. Canyon is used to be being a caregiver and an overall careful person, but when his brother's bosshole comes crashing into his life, it will never be the same. Both men have similar back stories that influence who they are as people. Both are protective of their family, but one is ready to move toward being taken care of, not doing the caring.
There is a larger story at play, and that does take up the majority of the story, and while we are given some fun glances into the bedroom, they are the supporting cast to the story. It was a solid read.
I love the Pride Summer Camp books- what a great concept! I've read two of them by other authors and happy to now read Sutton's. I loved both Wade and Canyon. I really liked Canyon's personality right from the start.
'One good internal scream, Canyon. That’s all you get. Then the pity party is over. Done. Do what you have to do. The scream would have been more satisfying aloud, but it still helps.'
I was sad for his insecurities over his scars, memories of stares and cruel words back from school still affecting him even years later. Wade is a hot head, a jerk, and used to intimidating to get his way. Or is he? He has walls up. His own pain to hide.
I liked the way their relationship developed. How they began to get to know each other and Can began to see who Wade is beneath his jerkhole persona. I loved the dynamic between them. I also liked the supporting characters, and the goings on at the camp always interested me. A great read. 4 stars
I have very fond memories of camping with my family. First in tents then in a big camper. S’mores around the campfire, watching the stars, enjoying lake time and even when it rained and everything got soaked, not just once but almost every time. Memories! Canyon has fond memories of his family camping until his parents were killed in an accident. Wade is in charge of a big company and needs to have a retreat to team build after a worrisome lawsuit. When Canyon’s brother skips out of leading the retreat, Wade hires Canyon to do it.
The immediate heat felt by both jumps off the page. Wade wants to cherish Canyon but Canyon wants it hard and fast.
When someone on the retreat seems to be reporting back to Wade’s evil Aunt both men need to find answers to keep Wade in control of their company.
This is part of a Multi Author Series Pride Summer Camp. I haven’t read any of the other books in the Series, but I really liked the blurb for this one. It was funny and entertaining read. I didn’t see it as Beauty and the Beast. It was more – Grumpy/Sunshine
Wayde was a grumpy Bosshole to everyone. When Canyon took his brothers place at the Camping retreat, he is anxious and so far outside his comfort zone that he has panic attacks. Wade looked after him and I loved how Wade was protective and caring toward Canyon.
Tropes: Opposites Attract, CEO, a bratty virgin, lite D/s, Daddy kink, Trauma, Past Abuse, Grief, Mental Health, Panic Attacks, Grumpy/Sunshine, Protective, Instant Attraction, Heart issues,
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
A great story that offers so much - humor, spice, drama, possessiveness, great characters, comeuppance, pets, love, and some Daddy/boy dynamics. Wade and Canyon are perfectly matched. Both had abbreviated childhoods that shaped the men they are now. Can allows Wade to tap into his lighter side and Wade allows Can to let go and not feel as though he has to take care of everything.
The drama in this story kept me captivated. There was obvious deception and suspicious activity, but clever writing kept me wondering who was innocent and who was guilty, and for what. Each time I thought I had it figured out there was another revelation. The climax was electrifying and I had to re-read it.
This book highlights the romance between Wade and Canyon, but it supports it with a great plot and content to provide a balanced, well-rounded read.
Camping with the boss is part of the Pride Summer Camp 2025 series, it is a standalone. I haven't read any of the others yet but will!
This was a real surprise! Firstly I won a copy to read from a competition and secondly the whole story line was somewhat unexpected. I really, really enjoyed it though.
This book was about a young man Canyon who was struggling to keep hold of his home and car and survive and his brothers ass-hole boss, Wade, who once Canyon got to know him realised he wasn't such a bad guy after all and there was a lot more going on than either of them expected! Canyon gets dragged along to a summer camp due to his brothers disappearing act.
There was a lot going on throughout the book and some real laugh aloud parts. It was crazy and fast paced but fun and easy to read, fairly predictable mystery but hey, it was fun!
Now this is my idea of camping! I love this book--it has great characters, Wade and Canyon, both hiding secrets. I love the premise that the boss Wade forces Canyon to take his missing brother's place at the company retreat and Canyon given his life situation has not choice but to agree. Thus begins four days of both men harboring secrets that are masking other things. The storyline blends the perfect amount of angst/low conflict and romance. Both men made me want happiness for them both. Witty dialogue had me laughing and slow developing romance filled my heart. It was fun to see why Wade was so demanding and bossy while falling for Canyon. I did receive an ARC and leave this honest review.
Part of the Pride Camp series, this standalone story was a fun, feel-good read that was hard to put down. With a perfect blend of light drama, workplace tension, and a touch of light daddy kink, it stayed engaging from start to finish.
When his brother, River backs out on the first day of Pride Camp, his brother’s boss, Wade strong-arms Canyon into stepping in. At first, Wade fully leans into his bosshole reputation—but Canyon isn’t the type to back down easily.
Wade and Canyon had great chemistry, and the supporting cast added depth and flair. The plot kicked off quickly and kept a steady, entertaining pace, building to a satisfying ending where justice was served and love wins. It was a thoroughly enjoyable read!
This was a fun grumpy/sunshine-esque book. I wouldn’t say Canyon is a typical “sunshine” character but Wade is def a grumpy It was also a kind of whodunnit story, trying to figure out what’s going on within the company. All the suspicion throughout kind of dragged for me and I felt like I was missing information, but it all came nicely together at the end. I’d also say there was a bit of an instalove element since it occurred over a week. I also enjoyed most of the characters and the little inside jokes/developments throughout the story. Canyon and Wade were fun together and complemented each other well. They both have some trauma they worked through at the retreat and were able to support each other. Overall a fun read!
Going camping was not something Canyon desired to do and definitely not with his brother's prickly boss. There is a lot of tension around Wade and Canyon did not enjoy joining the fray, but the more time he spends around Wade the more he realizes that Wade is not what he seems to be on the surface. Yes, he is gruff and can be difficult. But he has reason to be self-protective and as he and Canyon spend time together another aspect of Wade shows itself which was great for them as the chemistry and proximity worked its magic and they become not only attracted but find love. There is more going on which makes the story by turns humorous with a bit of corporate intrigue. Good stuff. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Who doesn’t love a pride camp book?! I loved this story, I did feel it could be a bit longer with everything it had going on but understand that these anthologies are generally shortish stories.
I’m not going to reiterate the synopsis like it seems every review has, you’ve read them all, you know what it’s about. It has such sweet and lovely content and then some not so sweet and lovely people creating issues. You get a good story, brilliant chemistry between MC’s and some external angst.
Do yourself a favour and give this little book a go, you won’t be sorry and may just find yourself grinning away like a Cheshire Cat :D
