So...this ended up being the 55th book I finished...oops. It was a fast read, don't come for me lol! But regardless, I reached my 2025 reading challenge goal! Was this a deep rom-com with an underlying message and lesson the characters learn? No, not really. Was this more of a mindless read and a palate cleanser, and you have to go into this just appreciating the vibes? Yes.

Lucy Owens is in the Hamptons for the summer doing shifts at the Pembroke Hills Country Club as a waitress with her friend, Charlotte. With its $200K+ membership application and expensive renewal fees, it's one of the most exclusive country clubs to get into and work for, considering their clientele is the top 1% of actresses, billionaires, and celebrities alike. On the side, she works as a private chef, making meals for some of the top members of Pembroke Hills. When her ex-boyfriend's older brother, Callahan Hastings, needs a private chef for the summer, he offers Lucy the position. Lucy reluctantly accepts the position, but when sparks fly between her and Cal, what will happen?

This was such a fast-paced read! The chapters were extremely short, and I loved the luxurious summer country club vibes that came with the story. I've always been sort of interested in how the upper class lives because I think it's somewhat amusing to see what they consider "problems" or what they consider a "hard day at work."

You could tell the entire country club exuded old money, almost to a fault, where the idea of "work" for the members was playing golf all day, dining lavishly while discussing business matters, and throwing dinner parties in their massive mansions. Like, a hard day at the office for me as a pharmacist is 400 new scripts in the pharmacist’s order entry queue with the phones going off nonstop, so I kind of enjoyed shutting my brain off for a little bit to read about the top 1% of society and how they live. I'll never make enough money to afford a country club fee as expensive as Pembroke Hills, but it's always interesting to me to read about characters who can do that and how they live. However, I feel like with how fast the book went in terms of the pacing, that it was also its downfall. More on that in a bit.

Onto the characters:

✧˚.🎀 Lucy: We love a hardworking, ambitious queen. She's so passionate about what she does as a private chef, and you can tell she loves cooking, making meals, and putting smiles on people's faces. The amount of effort she puts into them is admirable, from going to the farmer's market to find all the ingredients to the plating and execution of the meals. I just wish she was more confident and got out of her head a little more to get what she wants and fight for her dreams and aspirations. I also wish we got more background on her growing up and how she fell in love with cooking. We get to briefly know about some background history/trauma with her past, but almost nothing else about her.

✧˚.🎀 Cal: I have mixed feelings about Cal. On one hand, I think he's a golden retriever MMC where he's kind of happy-go-lucky and wants to do everything he can to make Lucy feel more comfortable, but on the other hand, I also felt like he was pushy at times. He's not overly pushy in any sense, but I do feel like if I were in Lucy's position, I'd be like, "Uh, alright, that's a little much, you can stop now." (I'm also INCREDIBLY sick of hearing "Lucy baby" on what felt like, every other page. I swear if I had to read "Lucy baby" ONE MORE TIME, I probably would've had a massive crash-out.)

✧˚.🎀 Both of them together: Remember how I said that I'd get back to the pacing of the book later on? Now's the time. Their chemistry was definitely there, don't get me wrong. Considering I've had my fair share of books where I didn't think the characters would work out, seeing a couple with actual tension and chemistry felt good to see. However, with how fast-paced the book was, I didn't think they were fully fleshed out. It almost felt insta-lovey at times, and they're just constantly horny for each other. I didn't feel like there was a whole ton of emotional depth to them together vs. their physical attraction. It sucks, because I can tell that Cal cared about Lucy a lot, but Lucy felt very emotionally detached and disconnected at times to the point where I didn't even think she liked him.

In terms of the plot overall, one of the things that kind of bugged me was how much of the story took place in Cal's kitchen. I get that Lucy's a private chef so she spends a lot of time there, but we're introduced to a bunch of Cal and Lucy's other friends that they're supposedly all friends with and super close with, but we don't see a whole ton of interactions with any of them aside from Charlotte and Jude. Again, I understand that Charlotte is Lucy's best friend and Jude is Cal's best friend, but there are so many other characters that were briefly introduced and name-dropped all throughout the book, and we barely get to see them or get to know them. I don't know if this is just setting up the stage for future books about them down the line, but I didn't 100% see the point in introducing all these characters just to see them for maybe 3 chapters total.

Last, but not least, I want to emphasize that if you're looking for a romance with complex characters and some emotional depth, this might not be the book for you. I think this book is best enjoyed if you're looking for a quick palate cleanser in between heavier books and you just want a quick beach read or something to take your mind off of things for a little bit. I don't think the characters had a whole ton of emotional depth to them, and given how fast-paced the book is, there wasn't much time for that, considering the book spanned across the entire summer. I don't think there's some sort of crazy, deep, emotional life lesson the characters learn like in some other rom-coms, so I think this is sort of better as a mindless, vibey read.

Overall, if you're looking for a fast summer rom-com read and a palate cleanser while supporting an indie author, this might be the book for you to add to your Summer 2025 TBRs! I can't wait for Ryker and Camille's story to come out in the fall, and I can't wait to see what Kat Singleton has in store next for the series!

⋆˙⟡ 𝒫𝓇𝑒-𝓇𝑒𝒶𝒹: First off, happy Memorial Day to all the Americans on Goodreads! I know this is the "unofficial start of summer" for us, so what better way to kick it off than with a billionaire summer romance in the Hamptons?🌊🐚🕶️☀️ This has been on my radar for a while, and I've heard a lot of good things about it, so I'm hoping this delivers!🩷💚🤞🏼(I’m also way too broke to summer in the Hamptons so I’m living vicariously through the book lol)

Tropes: (normally I don't do this but Kat Singleton's an indie author and I'll do anything to give indie and debut authors I read a larger platform. If giving the tropes spreads the word about their books, then so be it.)

3 stars! 🌟
Summary: "I spent a summer in the Hamptons with a billionaire, and all I got was a lukewarm book and a craving for oysters."

The Premise:
Lucy ends up in the Hamptons as the private chef for her ex’s older brother (lol messy). Callahan Hastings is hot, rich, and allergic to hearing the word “no.” What starts as a job quickly gets steamy in the kitchen—but not just from the food. Think brother's ex, billionaire, forced proximity, and chef knives and sexual tension.

The Good Stuff (barely):

✧ Spice was spicing. If you like your romance sautéed with steam, there were moments.

Cal was giving clingy golden retriever energy, and we love a man who simps, I guess.

I did like Lucy’s dedication to her family and her cooking dreams, even if she kept calling it a “silly little hobby” like girl NO—believe in yourself!

Some of the cameos from Kat’s other books were cute.

The Meh (aka why I’m side-eyeing this book):

SO. FREAKIN. SLOW. Like y’all know I devour books faster than Cal drops money, but this one? I was yawning. Distracted. Reading a paragraph and then suddenly reorganizing my room.

It didn’t feel forbidden?? Like the whole “brother’s ex” tension could’ve slapped but it was just there. No angst. No drama. Just vibes.

Cal had all the money, none of the depth.

The emotional connection? Missing. It was lust, lust, lust and then oh look, they’re in love. When did that happen? In the blender with the pesto?

I still don’t know who Lucy is beyond food and family guilt. Cal? Rich. That’s it.

ALSO—every 2 lines: “baby… Lucy… baby… my sweet baby…” Like ENOUGH. I was about to jump into the book and revoke his pet name privileges.

We spent 80% of the book in the kitchen. I love a good meal but COME ON.

Final Verdict:
Billionaire fluff with barely anything. Aesthetically cute, but emotionally shallow. I didn’t hate it, but I’m not exactly sending it roses either. Definitely felt more like a setup book for the rest of the series.

Will I read the next ones? Maybe. I’m nosy and invested in Camille x Ryker (they’re giving King of Sloth energy!) But this one? Eh. A cute appetizer. Not the main course.

Rated this while pretending to be a private chef in the Hamptons, but mostly wondering if Cal actually knows what “emotional depth” means

Oh my gosh, I loved this so much!! My first Kat Singleton book and I had such high expectations for this one because I’ve heard so many great things! I’m so glad it didn’t disappoint!

Grumpy billionaire romances never get old and I will honestly devour them every time! The vibes were seriously immaculate. Summer in the Hamptons?? Obsessed!! I wish I would’ve waited to read this during summer, but I still enjoyed it so much now! I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Just going to leave this quote here!! Do what you will 🤭

“I want to buy you expensive things, Lucy. What’s the point in having an ungodly amount of money if I can’t spend it on the first woman to capture my attention like this?”

EEEEEK, the way this book was the best way to kick off the spring/summer season!!! i could not think of a better way to have started off a series than this 🤭

i was hooked on lucy & cal from start to finish, their chemistry and the intense way they felt about each other through out the entire story had me in a chokehold it was sooo palpable!! he falls first AND harder, just absolutely obsessed with her. she shows him theres more to life than just working & helps bring him back to life essentially 🥹

one of my biggest obsessions with this book is the found family, i loved the way this friend group just melted together so easily and the way everyone took care of each other. there was no clashing in regards to social status, just immediate “were all obsessed with lucy & her friend they are now ours” 😭

every trope in this book is like cat nip to me, the second i saw ex bfs brother i RAN to go apply for this arc. i needed it more than i needed air and it did not disappoint!!! i actually LOVE the way this entire situation was handled, we got to shit on him a bit which is always fun but we also get a really amazing conclusion to wrap the trope up. one thing i do not read enough of is chef/private chef and it needs to change bc this aspect was SO MUCH FUN 😭 i was absolutely obsessed with the way cal was adamant about lucy being as creative as she wanted, with making her sit and eat everyone of her meals with him and whoever was in company and how he was so willing and ready to jump in and help her social media wise/wanting her to teach him how to cook MY HEART🥹. age gap x billionaire x boss, i mean literally what more could you ask for in this book?!?!

the way i cannot wait to get my hands on this audio bc these two were HAWT 😮‍💨 my lord lucy is better than me bc i wouldve been climbing that man like a tree the second i could!!

i am already vibrating with excitement over who i think the next book will be and just for the rest of the series in general bc i absolutely lived for all of the sneak peaks 👀

this was such a fast, entertaining read—and honestly, i had a good time.

lucy was so fun. she’s independent, hardworking, and constantly putting others before herself without expecting anything in return. i liked how focused she was on her goals, even when things got chaotic. she never lost herself in the romance, which made her feel grounded and real.

cal was intense, but in a way that didn’t feel overwhelming. he knew what he wanted from the start and didn’t play around. there was no back and forth—just steady, loyal energy. and while he definitely had that protective, borderline obsessive vibe, it never felt like too much. honestly, it worked.

the only thing that held this back for me was the pacing. everything moved fast—the relationship, the emotions, the resolution. also, with this being an ex’s brother romance, i was expecting more tension or fallout, but there really wasn’t much. it felt like a missed opportunity to stir up the drama just a little more.

I’m actually so sad that In Good Company didn’t work for me. Aside from the blurb, I didn’t know much about this story except Cal is a billionaire and Lucy is a chef, so I wouldn’t even say this is a case of me setting expectations ahead of time, but this completely fell flat for me on multiple levels.

To start, Lucy is deeply insecure, a martyr without a cause when it comes to her family/family business, and she is thoroughly uninteresting to journey with. She wants to be a chef but calls it a silly little hobby, she’s hooking up with/falling for a billionaire but not letting him get to know her at all or getting to know him, and the way she engaged with other women in the story, where they mostly talked about men and nothing else, was jarring. She doesn’t believe in herself enough to allow herself to have ambitions and she behaves as if she’s lived a long life full of being berated or discouraged, but really she’s the only one who talks down on herself. Side note: Lucy’s a chef but never wears a hair net, even at catered events? Also, her prized dish (in that it was mentioned more than once because for a book with a chef who is always cooking, recipes are rarely discussed) is chicken parm? I loveeeee chicken parm, but come on. Cal didn’t come across as charming or even particularly focused on Lucy, he seemed like a lonely dude who maybe lowkey had always been drawn to his brother’s girlfriend. I just didn’t care for him at all and found him cringe tbh. When they started feeling like they were falling for each other I was shocked because they did not know each other lol.

Charlotte was insufferable! Inappropriate, crude, and I can tell there is a set up for her to have a book with Jude and she’s going to play the same silly games Lucy played where they convince themselves this man who is completely not being casual with them is only being casual. I almost feel like this was entirely a book of filler to prepare books for the side characters mentioned in this, and that is upsetting because not much happens in this at all: Cal insists she work for him, they don’t get to know each other at all in any meaningful way, there is a faux will-they-won’t-they because Cal’s brother dated Lucy five years ago and even though they weren’t at all in love and have no lingering feelings (that somehow serves as a roadblock even though Cal isn’t close with him), then they finally hook up, weeks go by with no progress, then they finally have sex in the second act of the book (which takes up like 3.5 chapters no less). Very soon after that, Lucy becomes very selfish, throws herself on a sword unnecessarily for her family, hurts Cal in a very callous way intentionally, and the side characters march in to tell them how to find their way back to each other.

There are no stakes in this story. There’s no solid reason they couldn’t have dated even though she worked for him, the “forbidden” aspect wasn’t forbidden, and the conflict they had was just Lucy being selfish and holding back absolutely all of herself for no clear reason. Even the setting fell flat for me. They spent 95% of the time in Cal’s house—and 98% of that 95 is in his kitchen—the rest is spent at a Hamptons country club or shopping where Lucy spends all her time insisting Cal not spend his compliments or money on her. Maybe I’m not like the other girls? If I was dating a billionaire he could for sure buy me lunch at a country club, give me compliments, and take me to Chanel, honey!

I didn’t gel with the writing style. I found it overall fine in the sense that it’s accessible, but I found some of the dialogue completely unrealistic and stiff, and felt like the pacing was off. It feels like it wants to be a slow burn but there’s not a lot of angst, so it somewhat feels like a lot of waiting around for sparks. This is my first book from this author, and I’m open to giving her another try, but I don’t think I’ll continue on with this series.

Thank you to Valentine PR and the author for providing me with an ARC!

It was okay, but I can't help but feel that this is similar to PRBT. This is pretty much smooth sailing, with the only conflict happening at the 80% mark.

Cal (34) and Lucy (23) were sorta/kinda attracted from the moment they met again. There was some pushback from both sides due to the boss x employee setup and the fact that she's his brother's ex. I usually don't read books with sibling's ex trope because the idea of keeping it in the family never fails to give me the ick. Tbh, I'm not sure what made me read this or if that was a good decision. 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, the fact that she became involved with his brother was brought up way too often, and it became repetitive over time. When, imo, it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. They broke up four or five years ago, and she was never truly in love with him. Said brother also quickly replaced Lucy with her own best friend. What a great guy, right? Also, Cal was never close to his brother, and he doesn't care about his opinion or that of others. Although I get that their situation is awkward, the emphasis of that past relationship was too much for my liking.

Like I said, this is mostly a problem-free story and is driven by mutual attraction and sexual tension between the MCs. They have chemistry, but it wasn't that palpable. I have to admit, though, that some of their sexy times were hot. This is a slow burn, and although they've fooled around, the deed didn't happen until the 67% mark.

I honestly don't understand how they fell in love when they knew so little about one another. Cal was the only one who has consistently shown vulnerability and honesty during their times together. He was always laying out his cards, whereas Lucy was hellbent on keeping important things hidden from him. She didn't fully trust him, even though he had always been really good to her.

I'd probably say Cal learned things about Lucy because of his observation and not because she offered them to him. He also gave so much to her, I think he did all the love languages, even if it meant stepping out of his comfort zone. Well, I guess it helps that he's a billionaire.

His efforts made me warm up to him, because maaan, this guy was cocky AF, and it was annoying in the beginning. Also, the fact that he kept repeating on and on about how he always gets what he wants really grates on my nerves. Like, I get it, your money and looks always make that happen, no need to be arrogant about that. But yeah, I ended up liking him at the end. 🤷‍♀️

Now that I think about it, I really can't recall much that Lucy did for Cal other than cooking for him. Well, that's technically what she was hired to do for him. But other than that, I can't really remember her doing things for him out of care or love. Or maybe she's just that forgettable?

I don't know, but writing this review, made me see that Cal was the one who really gave his all in this story. He didn’t ask for much in return—just for Lucy to love him back.

Overall, I'm not sure what to feel about this book.

I was...bored. I skimmed to the end and I'm glad I didn't continue. I just didn't connect with the mcs, it was way too fluffy and easy, and I felt like everything was drawn out and nothing was really happening. It could be a me thing, but I'm calling it.

4.5 Lucy Baby Stars⭐️
Spicy Level: 🌶️🌶️/5

This book was everything I wanted, craving a possessive, obsessed Billionaire romance. A fantastic balance of sweet, spicy, swoony, and just fun!

𝙎𝙮𝙣𝙤𝙥𝙨𝙞𝙨:
We follow Lucy, who’s having one last hurrah in the Hamptons before she has to face reality and return home to Virginia to take over the family business. She’s spending the summer working at a prestigious country club and picking up extra side gigs as a personal chef. One night, during a private dinner event, she runs into her ex-boyfriend’s older brother, Callahan Hastings. He overhears that she’s looking for a more permanent gig and practically lays out a red carpet to get her to work for him. At first, she refuses because... it will be awkward as heck given he’s her ex’s brother, and he flirts a lot. But Callahan is persistent, and eventually, Lucy says yes to the job... and finds herself fighting much bigger feelings.

𝙏𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨:
You know, it's very seldom that just one character takes the cake and makes me adore a book but OH MY GOSH Callahan stole the show! He is generous, nurturing, doting, and supportive in all the ways an MMC should be. There was this delicious subtle dominant-submissive dynamic in their flirting, so every moment with them is built on sexual tension, but Lucy-despite being submissive, pushes back when needed, and it's this feistiness that intrigues Cal from their first interaction. Their energy together was playful, sexy, and just so heartwarming! Cal spoils her rotten, provides her constant support for her interests and just genuinely cares. He makes sure she eats, checks in on her, and constantly encourages her to follow her dreams, especially her passion for cooking, where he becomes her biggest cheerleader.

And oh my god, the way he says “Lucy Baby”? I turned into an actual puddle. Every. Time.

Lucy did frustrate me a little bit as she does not communicate on purpose, but while this is super prevalent, she knows it’s a flaw of hers, so I let this dislike of the trope slide because it wasn’t written in unintentionally. It very much serves a purpose. Her lack of communication is a big part of her character, she is very guarded, deeply protective of her heart, and extremely devoted to her family because of the trauma they’ve been through. She’s stubborn and believes she needs to handle everything on her own because she is all that her parents have left, and as a result, she takes a lot of their burden on her shoulders. She’s very aware of her inability to communicate, and it’s something she struggles with throughout the story.

The story is very "set in location" in terms of plot in that a lot of it happens in Cal's house and especially in the kitchen. But I loved that the book was so focused on the development of their romance. But even with this, we got adorable glimpses of their friends and her family and I love how Cal's circle became like a little found family for Lucy. Also, I loved the cameos from the Black Tie series. If you were a fan of that series, this feels like a perfect extended epilogue. It was so fun seeing familiar faces and getting an update on their lives.

In terms of the spice, there is just something about how Kat Singleton writes it in a way that is toe-curling and face-blushing but never overpowers the emotional connection. It’s sexy but also full of depth, which makes every steamy moment feel so intimate.

The only thing about the book that made this detract from 5 stars is that it took a long while for Cal to wake up and fight for her when she ran...

𝙏𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙨:
▶ Billionaire Romance
▶ BossXEmployee (Workplace Romance)
▶ Ex-boyfriend's Brother
▶ Forbidden Romance
▶ Forced Proximity
▶ He Fall's First

and 𝙈𝙞𝙘𝙧𝙤 𝙏𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙨:
▷ "Look at Me"
▷ "It Won't Fit"
▷ Fingers Can't Close
▷ Cages her with his arms
▷ "Greedy Girl"
▷ "Don't Stop"
▷ Rolled Sleeves/Forearms
▷ Good Girl

There are hints at the next two couples in the series, and I already can’t wait for more.

Basically, if you’re into a doting, rich MMC's who wants to give their girl the world, this book is for you. I ate it up and already want more!!!

“I love you so fucking much, Lucy Rae. My love for you is the kind that only comes once in a lifetime. I’ve been so lost without you.”

Lucy never expected to find herself spending the summer in the Hamptons as Callahan’s personal chef, especially considering he’s her ex’s brother. but what starts as a job quickly turns into something much more complicated. he’s intense, possessive, and completely taken with her. yet, despite the history between them, there’s no unnecessary drama; just pure, undeniable chemistry.

Callahan is the kind of man who gives without hesitation, showering Lucy in luxury, but more importantly, in unwavering attention. and Lucy? she’s too determined to simply be kept. she works tirelessly to support her family even when they don’t ask her to, pouring her passion into every dish she creates. when Callahan pushes her to share her talent with the world—teaching him to cook on camera—it’s clear his devotion goes beyond desire.

the romance is scorching, the tension electric, even though the pacing was a bit rushed to my opinion which diminished a iota the enjoyment for me.

4.5 stars! In Good Company is a billionaire, boss x private chef, ex-boyfriend’s brother, forbidden romance with summer vibes and an obsessed man! It is the first book in the Pembroke Hills series by Kat Singleton and it was such a great intro to this new series and characters to come! If I think billionaire romances, I think Kat Singleton…she does them so well and this delivered on all the vibes!

Lucy is a chef working at a country club. One night her ex’s older brother Callahan is there and very surprised to see her working as a chef in the Hamptons. He offers her a job working for the summer as his private chef and won’t take no for an answer. Lucy feels a little wary at first because he is her ex’s brother and she was always just a bit more interested in Callahan…

The summer vibes were so fun and this was such a great start to the new series! You definitely get a good feel for all the characters to come in the series and I’m very excited for some of the hinted couple pairings we get! If you want a man who is absolutely down bad for her, Callahan is that man. He makes sure she eats with him every night (instead of just serving him his meal), takes her golfing for charity (and teaches her how to swing), offers to help her with filming cooking videos (she teaches him how to cook to get comfortable filming), goes with her every morning to the farm stand, shopping sprees, calling her “Lucy baby”, and just wanting to spoil her at every turn! We even get a Margo appearance (from Black Ties & White Lies). I’m so excited for the rest of this series now and all the side characters we saw in this book!

I received an audio ALC from the author, all thoughts in this review are my own. The audiobook was top tier and a duet narration by Connor Crais and Erin Mallon, two of my favorite narrators and honestly the perfect pairing for this couple! They really brought the characters to life! Highly recommend grabbing the audio when it’s out!

i have no words to how much i loved and enjoyed this book. i literally devoured it in 2 hours.

callahan was so down bad for lucy, i was absolutely eating it up. i loved that acts of service was his love language. it was so nice seeing him do all these nice things for her. and lucy was so sweet and i loved her take no shit attitude. i found her relatable at times and i loved seeing how she learnt to lean on callahan for help by the end of the book.

honestly, i just need charlotte and jude's book. i was so invested in them.

⚜️°• A billionaire romance featuring a very obsessed man awaits you in In Good Company ⚜️°•

I was lucky enough to get an arc of Kat Singleton's upcoming romance and oh boy. You are NOT ready! I'm not going to spoil anything, don't worry. I just want to mention that this book is IT. I had the time of my lifeeeeee. One of my favorite books of this year DEFINITELY ♡

Of the other two books I've read by Kat, this one is hands down the best one yet. Kat has said in her instagram that she thinks this is her best book and YUP YUP! She did THAT and you all going to adore this book too I bet.

I've seen so many great reviews for this book and it does live up to the hype 🙂‍↕️ I will eat up billionaire romance novels every. single. time. Especially when they spoil the FMC 🤭 YES SIR 🫡

My only complaint about this book is the amount of times the MMC said "baby". I love that pet name but it was just overkill in this book. He said it every 2 lines 🫠

I NEED Charlotte and Jude's book!! I was equally as invested in them 🤭

Kat Singleton is back baby! And boy did she straight deliver with this banger!

I won't lie, I was so sad to see the Black Tie Billionaires series come to an end. It is one of my favorite series. But with that being said, Kat Singleton's new series, Pembroke Hills, delivers all of the Black Tie Billionaire vibes set in the Hamptons. So everything that you loved about the Black Tie Billionaires is in this series, we have just left the city and are living our best lives at the country club for the rich and famous!

If there is one thing that Kat Singleton does right, that is writing a billionaire romance banger! She's also really good at making me straight delusion. Like who am I to think I can catch the next private jet (that I most definitely do not access to) to the Hamptons and fall in love with a grumpy Billionaire who wants to spoil me with expensive things? Like I said, I'm delusion but it's a delusion I will gladly live in thanks to Kat.

I loved everything about this book! Callahan was pure perfection! He is broody, grumpy, a billionaire and Lucy's ex boyfriend's older brother... scandalous! And Lucy, she was so dang cute! I loved their banter. I loved how Callahan wanted to spoil her rotten. I loved how he called her Lucy baby. Seriously the cutest thing ever. I turned into a literal puddle every time he called her that. But trust me, Cal isn't all whispering sweet nothings, this man also has a filthy mouth on him.

Besties, if you loved the Black Tie Billionaire series then I think you will straight devour this one like I did! The world building for what is to come has me straight feral. And YES, we do to see all of our favorite Black Tie Billionaire couples! Margo was able to give our girl Lucy some much needed advice 😉

You should not definitely read this book if you like:
- Billionarie Romance
- Ex Boyfriend's Brother
- Age Gap (11 years)
- Boss x Private Chef
- Forbidden Romance
- Forced Proximity

* I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Kat Singleton for allowing me the pleasure to read In Good Company as an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, opinions and review.

* 3⭐️ 4🌶️
* Age gap, ex boyfriend brother, billionaire romance.
* FMC Lucy is private chef. MMC Cal is a billionaire who loves cream colored knit shirts lol
* I love how all the billionaire swoonies seem to always smell like bergamot and sandalwood. wtf even is bergamot. Cal is so swoony. Protective, wants to take care of his girl even though ITS JUST SUMMER CASUAL.
* Men are such single minded creatures lol. Their brains short circuit over the littlest things. Everything goes back to lust lol
* The side characters are great. You can start to invision who the other books in the series will be about.
* Something happens back home that makes her abruptly leave the Hampton and go back to manage the families furniture store.
* Cals devoted love for Lucy is just so swoony.
* Loved the epilogue.

Boring Spice

Lucy is a nice girl who waits tables at club where she meets rich people who hire her to cook for their private parties.

Cal is a very rich guy who talks Lucy into cooking for him full time, because he has a thing for her. Lucy isn’t interested in any kind of relationship with Cal, because he is the brother of her ex.

The entire premise of the book is ridiculous and an excuse to write sex scenes, supposedly of people in love.

I found this book, boring and I gave it two stars for good grammar.

ARC REVIEW

Another cute one from Kat! This one was not my favourite, I still much prefer her small town series, however, I grew to enjoy this one a lot more by the end. The beginning felt a little bit rushed to me, and like there was no preamble to Cal wanting Lucy, he just immediately fell into Insta love/lust. Because I’m more of a slow burn girly, this felt a little bit too unrealistic for me, though I do admit that the scenes were very spicy as it always expected with Kat Singleton. By the end, I really enjoyed how fleshed out the characters became, with Lucy showing more of her vulnerabilities and displaying her need to ask for help regarding her family matters. Cal also becoming a little bit more three dimensional and really being willing to go out on a limb and help however he could. I do love the setting of Pembroke Hills, and love seeing their interactions between Cal, Lucy, the rest of the character/friends that we have met in previous book series. Looking forward to the second book in this series!

Thank you Kat Singleton for sending me this eARC in exchange of my honest review!

I love that I'm her book it is not always the MMC who's at fault. For once he's the one getting hurt and it is kind of refreshing (and hot) that he made himself vulnerable in front of her, even though he was super scared she would reject him.

Yeah... I wasn’t really a fan. It started out okay, but by the end, I just didn’t care anymore and was ready to be done with it. The author spent more time bringing in characters from her previous books and setting up future couples than actually focusing on the main relationship in this one. Because of that, the romance didn’t feel real—it was all lust until the very end when they suddenly realized they had feelings.

Overall, it was an okay read, but nothing special. The third act was honestly just pathetic—Cal being so depressed he couldn’t get out of bed? Please. And the reason for it? So dumb. She has to take over a job she’s known she’d be getting for seven years since her brothers died (they were originally supposed to take over for their dad), yet she has zero knowledge of the business?? Like, not even the basics? If you knew you were going to be in charge, wouldn’t you at least try to learn something beforehand? And Alec has been doing all the work anyway, but instead of just giving him the company, everyone waits until the very last second to have some random epiphany that oh wait, maybe he should be the one in charge instead. Seriously?

And then there’s the whole thing with Lucy’s brothers. The first time they’re even mentioned is 70% into the book, and it made zero sense. It felt so random, like it was just thrown in there for the sake of drama, but it didn’t actually add anything new to the story.

Cal is rich, sure, but nothing about him makes him seem respected. The book keeps saying he is, but why? Nothing he does gives off that vibe, especially not the way he acts at the end.

The writing didn’t help either—it’s all tell and no show. We’re just told things happen, but none of the connections or relationships feel real. So, I ended up not caring about anything.

This was my first book by this author, and honestly, I expected better. I might read the rest of the series when new books come out, but I don’t think I’ll bother with her older ones. With all the cameos in this book, I feel like I already got the rundown.

Sorry, I just really disliked this book. It had so much potential in the beginning to be a silly fun and spicy time but NOPE. This is advertised as a forbidden romance with her ex boyfriend's older brother... um is "forbidden romance" in the room with us??? Where was the tension and high stakes and yearning??? God this was just so boring and fell completely flat. The ex is barely seen or mentioned and the mmc doesn't even ever talk to the brother because they are not close. And then she becomes this mmc billionaire's private chef and they just hang out with insta lust inner dialogue and then she impresses him with her favorite chef recipe- a chicken fucking parmesan??😫😫😫😫

Suddenly, his dick says he's in love and he's constantly calling her "Lucy Rae" or "Lucy baby" out of nowhere and following her around instead of doing his billionaire things. I was even skimming through the spice because I couldn't stop rolling my eyes... and I usually love this author's spice. There was NO chemistry, no feels, no depth to the romance or even characters as individuals. The third act break up was just SO stupid. You cannot tell me this hot successful billionaire is moping and crying and not getting out of bed because she just said she didn't want him to come help her parents??? You guys have been hooking up for like a month. Also idk get your ass up and get her back because you are supposedly a big shot billionaire? And don't even get me started with the fmc and her parents and furniture store and dead brothers (who btw aren't even mentioned until like 70% in??).

I really did not have high expectations for this at all. I just wanted a stupid fun spicy vibey time but there were just no vibes. Such a huge disappointment because I loved her black ties white lies series, just for the fun time!!! Also seems like her annoying "best friend" Charlotte will get a book and I also could not stand her so that is promising for my investment in this series🤣

I am so in love with this book! The characters, and everything about this book is PERFECT! The chemistry between Lucy and Cal is absolutely electric, and the way they interact will make you swoon. You want a hot billionaire to spoil you? I was giggling and blushing and smiling like an stupid at every turn. Read this ASAP! I'M OBSESSED WITH THIS BOOK.

Cal the man you are. I absolutely love love Cal — i love men written by Kat Singleton — I was swooning over him all the time ;) oh my god I love they way he spoils her with expensive things, kisses and * ahem y'know * and how he tells the world how much he loves her. And let me tell you he's soooooo down bad for his girl. Long story short he's the man you should read about he's man that all you need. He can't help but spoil her with lavish gifts and, more importantly, so much love, is the perfect balance of sweet and swoon-worthy.
I love him sm.

Lucy is such a beautifully caring and selfless character. She's is so precious. She’s the kind of person who puts the needs of others before her own, especially when it comes to her parents. Her deep love for them is so evident throughout the story, and it’s one of the things that makes her such a genuine, lovable character. As a natural people pleaser, Lucy often goes above and beyond to make those around her happy, sometimes even at the cost of her own well-being and her own love-life. Her desire to make others comfortable and ensure they’re taken care of makes her an incredibly compassionate person. It’s clear that she’s the kind of woman who gives without hesitation, even if it means sacrificing her own needs. But what I love is how Cal, with all his affection and care, recognizes this about her and helps her find balance, showing her that it’s okay to put herself first sometimes too.

I love how Kat writes her female characters and every girl is unique and different from other. And when we talk about men written by Kat I have no words *chef's kisses* they're just perfect, when I read her books my mind goes like: yeah that's exactly what I want.

I already love Jude I'm manifesting next book for him please! I can't wait for the next book in the series and I wish it's about Charlotte and Jude I LOVE THEM TOGETHER! and I'm sure if they get their own book it'll be such a fun book. Plus I absolutely adored Char and Jude's friendship with Lucy and Jude's friendship with Cal (I have unhealthy obsession with these types of friendships in the books)

What I loved most about their story is how their connection deepens over time. Cal isn’t just showering her with expensive things; he’s showering her with affection, tenderness, and care in the most genuine ways. Plus, the fact that he’s Lucy’s ex’s big brother adds that extra little layer of tension and intrigue, making their love story even more exciting and emotional.

The way the author writes their relationship is full of warmth, humor, and so many heart-melting moments. Seriously, I found myself smiling, kicking my feet, and feeling all the butterflies in my stomach! The pacing was just right, with the perfect amount of tension, sweetness, and those feel-good moments that you want to savor.

It’s the kind of book that reminds you how beautiful love can be—especially when it comes from someone who sees and appreciates you for everything you are. If you’re looking for a romance that’ll make you feel all the things (and leave you grinning from ear to ear), this one is a must-read!

I can’t recommend this book enough! It’s cute, sweet, full of heart, and definitely the kind of story you’ll want to revisit again and again. A true feel-good romance that deserves every one of those five stars!

Thank you so much author Kat Singleton for giving me opportunity to read this beautiful book before the release. Tysm for the arc.

This was amazing. I‘ve never read a book by this author before but I loved this one. I will definitely pick up more books by Kat Singleton. The writing style was fluent and easy to understand. I could dive into the story without any problems and I liked the pace and plot. The pages just flew by and I didn‘t recognise that this book was nearly 400 pages long.
Lucy and Callahan have great tension. Their story was told beautifully and I couldn‘t stop reading. The setting within the Hamptons was wonderful and it was great to meet their friends. I enjoyed the chemistry between Lucy and Cal. They communicated like a grown up couple (like they should!!) and it was refreshing to read a book without any unnecessary OW drama.
All in all this was a very good book and I had a great time while reading it. This is a feel good romance book.

I’m a big fan of Summer House on Bravo and reading this book reminded me of that! Not because of the storyline but because of the setting. I’ve always wanted to spend the summer in the Hamptons but I’m not rich, so it’ll probably never happen LOL. But being able to experience it through a TV show and this book is enough and I loved it! While it sort of teetered on insta love I still fell hard for this one despite it. (Insta love isn’t really my thing).

If you’re looking for a summer romance this is a great one to read! You get a hotshot billionaire who is actually VERY sweet and his brother’s ex-girlfriend who is cooking for him that summer. This one has some spice, tender moments, and a great backstory for our heroine Lucy. While I would have loved to know more about Cal’s past (it really wasn’t discussed at all and probably wasn’t even necessary for the story) I enjoyed seeing him fall hard for the girl he wasn’t supposed to want.

I recommend this one to any romance reader as I think it has a little of everything we look for! A charming hero, a sweet and relatable heroine, and a love story you feel like you’re watching unfold in real time!

✨ALC✨Buckle in. I don’t give lengthy reviews but I have a lot to say. I want to start off my saying the story in and of itself, was ok. I was interested enough that I didn’t want to DNF but I found myself frequently pausing or getting irritated. My primary problem was with the FMC Lucy.
.
.
.
.
.
The FMC was actually insufferable to the point I’m convinced it was supposed to be satire? You screwed this guys brother for like a year, YEARS ago, and you both knew would never last. Once he dumped you he moved straight to your best friend and he TOLD you that was the only reason he dated you anyway, but you can’t catch feelings for his brother because of that??? Are you joking? And to bring it up every single time your near him like oh what about *insert name here* (why can’t i remember his name I just finished this book???) Also, you’ve known you were supposed to take over the family business (a furniture store) since you were a kid, yet you don’t know a single thing about what you’re doing there or how to run it? And let’s not even get into the “oh I love being around him 24/7, he gives me butterflies” ya da ya da one minute then the next it’s “I have to leave at the end of the summer and this will all be over” then IMMEDIATELY back to “oh he’s so pretty, I miss him when he’s not around” crap. This man (insanely rich, crazy hot, single man) is subtly (and not so subtly) telling you he’s crazy about you and instead of saying something about it you completely brush it off, continue to screw him and fall in love with him and get mad at HIM because he’s telling you he’ll follow you anywhere and you can work it out and not to leave him. 😐 you have to be f-ing kidding.
The MMC had flaws as well (like many do) like not communicating. Oh no wait, he did that. Not respecting her boundaries? Oh nope he did that too. Well I bet he didn’t take everything they did at her pace and just rushed it like men do. Nope, did that too. Cal was great, a little ditzy but great. My problem very much lies with the FMC
