This isn't a book that you read for the story, or even the upliftment as you would with a regular self-help book. It's a tutorial that can be memorized (or close to) and used in a nearly verbatim way. I'm a fan of meditation, and have always been interested to try self-hypnosis. For some people, myself included self-hypnosis can be a scary thing... but isn't anything that we don't know much about? Once you've read the introduction, and few first few extremely informative chapters, that fear is melted away some. Once you have the facts and the know how, self-hypnosis isn't nearly as intimidating as you'd think. A few of the scripts in the book utilize techniques that I've been using in meditation for years, such as picturing yourself in certain places as you relax each part of your body and clear your mind. This book takes those particular techniques a step 'deeper' and gives you the confidence to let your mind clear itself without the fear of being stuck in a state of hypnosis. I don't know about you, but for ME that's always what has held me back from giving this a try. I'll be buying this book in a paperback soon, just so that I can highlight and refer back to certain parts regularly. In my opinion it's a must have book to keep close to your place of meditation/yoga and what have you. To each their own, yet this book covers enough angles and different ways to approach that one can utilize it in a personalized way for their own individual use.

There are several scripts that can be used, along with the exact technique to make them work. What I did is read the whole book through, take notes, and then refer back to my favorite script to try first. I read that particular script several times until I was confident that I could utilize it properly.. Then, I cleared my time and space so that I could give it a try without feeling nervous or rushed, I took my time. Let me just say that I NEEDED IT!! I came out so very relaxed, and felt a renewed sense of accomplishment. I'm in the process of moving right now, and stress is piqued, so giving self-hypnosis a try was exactly what my body needed. I'm confident that with a continuation of regularly using the scripts in this book, I'll get better and better at it.

Not only am I giving Hypno-Scripts 5 stars, but I'd like to reach out and personally THANK Mary Deal for writing this book!!

This might seem better because that last hypno book was shit but honestly I feel like it would still be good in a vacuum. The layout is good, the text is well spaced which I really appreciated and even the religious stuff had gems sprinkled throughout and it didn't piss me off like religious stuff usually does; she's very anti-bullshit for a religious person.

I think there's this thing... like when you look at the subconscious mind with the conscious mind it just sort of boggles it's like an ant looking at an ent, so people turn to mysticism and religion to try to explain what they're never going to comprehend. Like you're ignorant and, compared to yourself, stupid. Accept it.

Honestly, going in I thought a) this is going to be just a block of scripts with no instructions b) this is going to be shit because the last book I just read was and people don't seem to take this sort of thing seriously and c) this looks budget af I'm not very optimistic. None of that was true, though I did catch about three typos, and because I ignored the cover as I always try to I didn't realise there was meditation in the back so bonus. The smaller meditation part is fairly spiritual but surprisingly practical and didn't annoy me or dribble out once I'd poured it in. I kinda wish I owned this rather than it being a libry book, it'd be useful to have the scripts on hand. The directions for use are way better than that Valerie Austin book, I've got way more confidence in them.

Brilliant

One of the best books on hypnosis, meditation and the exploration of consciousness. Tons of really useful and practical information without a lot of the hype so many of these books are prone to. Definitely recommended.

I picked up this book looking for an NLP type script but these are meditation type scripts. Not what I was looking for. Had the same general information as all the other hypnotherapy script books.

I won a copy of this book with NO obligation to read and/or review it, but I'm glad I did.

I’ve always been fascinated with the power of the human mind, especially in connection with spirituality. Mary Deal’s book was another in a long line of hypnosis related texts I’ve read. I found it to be informative without overwhelming in technical or formal terms and explanations. The scripts were easy to read and to visualize. I would imagine if one were to record them and play those recordings back while in a relaxed state, they would very easily find themselves in a much deeper state of hypnosis. Her section on meditation was also very helpful. The overall book was written in an engaging and friendly style which made it a joy to read.

The book is in sections on hypnosis and mediation. Each section contains word definitions, quotes, self-reflection questions, possible scripts, and ramblings from the author’s personal experiences. The induction, cue and script section count down from ten to one to the hypnotic stage and then one to ten to wake up again. These sections are hard to implement unless you have a partner doing the counting and reading the scripts. In summary, boring repetitive self-talk chants are relaxing and you need to trust your hypnotist.

First of all, I have to say I am fascinated by hypnosis and as a writer, touch on the subject in several of my own books. The author explains about how hypnosis can improve our lives when you tap into one's own consciousness. The author explains about self-hypnosis in clear steps all can try. What is possible when we learn more about our own minds? Grabbing this book is a great way to find out. Thanks to Mary Deal for giving readers a fascinating look into what we can do by looking at our inner-self to make our own world a better, healthier and happier place.

I’ve actually read this book twice. Once to take in & ensure that I understood the psychology behind the technique, then again to practice the meditation & mindfulness. In conclusion I can say that Mary Deal really knows her subject. I’m actually sleeping a lot better & remembering to take time out during my day to just sit, relax & clear my mind. I’d recommend this for anyone with a hectic life as it really helps you to compartmentalise your brain & focus on what’s important. A fascinating topic & exercises that works.
