I wasn't sure what to expect since this is the author's debut book but I have to admit I absolutely loved this book!
There was a great blend of romance, friendship, suspense, mystery and an unpredictable story. And to me that was satisfying!
I'm so over the stories that are so predictable from the start. This one kept me guessing in a good way.
Daniela has been through so much but still tries to live her life with going to school and working. She hasn't dated much since a couple of terrible ordeals she experienced in her freshman year at her former college.
Now in her final year of college she slowly begins to try and ready herself to live her life more.
She has a fantastic friend named Bridget who is fun, humorous and so supportive, exactly what Daniela needs. Loved her as a supporting character!!
And wow, the men in this story! They were all HOT and SEXY in their own yummy ways!!
Nathan.... he was Daniela's new friend who becomes a close good friend, a protector, to her but there are growing feelings between these 2! I totally understand why Daniela is hesitant on pursuing a relationship with him because she thinks she's damaged and thinks he deserves better than what she can offer.
He remains so great and supportive... LOVED HIM!!! <3
Then there is Alex! He is a bad boy but still caring and protective of Daniela when they begin to date. She decided to give him a chance because she saw him as being someone almost damaged like herself, I guess maybe more relate-able in a sense because he had his own tough history.
When they say the past begins to resurface, it really does. While Daniela is trying to find her confidence and herself again, someone begins to stalk her. She has no clue who it could be. This is a great build up with the mystery and suspense.
And then... there is a sad and heartbreaking thing that happens. I didn't expect that but it fit with what needed to probably happen in this story.

Yes.... check this one out.... it was a great debut by M. L. Garcia!!!

This is the first book I have read from this author and she blew me away. I love a good suspense romance but this book exceeded all my expectations. You can’t help but to fall in love with these characters. I was hooked on this book right from the beginning. These characters drew me so much I read this book in no time. It only took me a few hours to devour this incredible book.

Daniela Franco had the perfect childhood. She and her best friend Christina did everything together. Daniela was so excited to start college but tragedy hits. She lost her innocence and a beautiful life. Now Daniela doesn’t trust anyone. She stays out of the party scene and concentrates only on her school work. Daniela loves her job and boss. She is working one day and this handsome stranger comes in and she can’t take her eyes off of him. Daniela feels safe with this guy but she doesn’t understand why. Daniela and Nathan get to know each other and they become really good friends. Then she starts to feel like someone following her. Is Daniela’s past coming to even the score or is it all a misunderstanding? Will Daniela find the true love she has be dreaming about or will her life turn into a nightmare once again?

I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all romance, mystery, suspense, and healing. You can’t help but to fall in love with these characters right from the beginning. Daniela is a strong woman that had a horrible incident happen to her. She is one of my all time favorite female characters of this year. Nathan is very handsome with a great heart. He wants to protect Daniela from all the bad in the world. The way he treats her will make your heart melt. There is some very sensitive issues that can trigger some people. I think the author handled these topics in a respectful manner. These characters will have a place in my heart for years to come.

What She Lost and Found is a story of a young woman who has lost and wants to live life to the fullest once again. It is written by M. L. Garcia. It was a beautiful and emotional story that was enthralling and remarkable.

Daniela suffers a loss that seems like there is no coming back from. Her best friend was more like a sister and her loss set on an unexpected and unwanted path. Her innocence is gone and she is left utterly broken. This tale outlines a person's struggle to continue after great loss. It highlights how the human spirit, while bruised and broken, still crave the most normal things. Friendship, happiness and love. The secrets that follow her threaten to sabotage the life she is chasing, but she possesses an inner strength that ensures she will not succumb without a fight. Daniela has lost, but with courage, faith and a love for life will see her fulfill her deepest desires. A stunningly moving and gripping 5 stars read.

FULL REVIEW--

Star rating for "What She Lost and Found" is 4.5 out of 5.

Blogging Guest-Reader’s Review after reading What She Lost and Found by Author M. L. Garcia (as posted on: Booksmoviesfandoms.wordpress.com):

Thank you Books, Movies, Fandoms for letting me share my review on your blog. Being that this is your debut novel I am ecstatic to be able to give my honest perspective on your work. Where do I start from…well I guess the beginning is always a good place. What She Lost and Found follows college senior Daniela Franco who had an average history up until a couple of nights during her freshman year at college in her hometown of Houston, Texas.

The beginning of her horrid ordeals began one night at a party with so-called friends and classmates she had known growing up. Her best friend Christina wasn’t there that night and things went bad for Daniela. She was attacked by more than one assailant at the party but someone came to the room giving her the chance to get out of there. It wasn’t the end…not even close. A couple of nights later after her ordeal, tragedy struck in such a terrible way. Her childhood best friend Christina Borello is also attacked but her attack leads to her heartbreaking murder.

Daniela was broken. She took the next step that she felt she had to since no one had been caught or arrested, she moved away to complete her schooling at a university in Austin, Texas. You can’t help but feel her pain but also feel how much she wants to try to live. She struggles to stay afloat and live a normal life even though deep inside she has scars from the past that still control the decisions she makes in her life. She has a friend who was a former roommate, Bridget, who is like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day for Daniela. She is there for this girl and supports her in the best ways that seem perfect for the somewhat recluse Daniela.

But let me not forget to tell you about the hot and adorable men in Daniela’s life now. First she meets Nathan. He is the epitome of tall, dark haired, and handsome! He is interested in getting to know Daniela but she is ready to just keep her walls up because she views herself as being too damaged to be with someone as awesome as Nate. So, they decide to build a friendship and get closer. He is definitely loving, protective, caring, and just the whole entire package! Nathan shares his feelings for Daniela to her but she basically only wants to keep him as a friend because she’s afraid to lose him if they were to date. She didn’t want to risk her first guy friendship so they leave it at that for now. **sad face** Then she meets Alex. He was unexpected and definitely wasn’t someone I would’ve fallen for since Nathan was a man-buffet from the start. If that makes any sense! So back to Alex. He’s sexy, handsome, caring, and protective. I loved that both of these men seem genuinely great and protective, which is what a person like Daniela needed in her life. Alex seems fantastic and by this point Daniela realizes that there is more to him and he may actually have his own dark past.

To top it all off, the past won’t let Daniela go. Her fears are not only in her heart and mind, they become a part of her new life in Austin. Someone is stalking her. She has no clue who they are but they are taunting her. She tries to continue with her life because she doesn’t want to let the fear control her anymore. Without giving too much away, someone that she becomes close with is a part of a certain lifestyle that brings danger their way. This leads to a tear-jerking moment where someone meets with tragedy.

The journey through Daniela’s life is a roller coaster of emotions ranging from heartbreaking, tragic, happy, loving, and courageous. She goes through so many things but most are tied to a shared source which explains why so much goes on in her life. She is anything but average and I like her because of that. The men in the story are definitely book-boyfriend worthy. There’s a perfect mix of romance, thriller moments with that crazed stalker, steamy moments, suspense, tear-jerking incidences and a nice touch of friendship with loyalty. Get your copy because I am sure you’ll be hooked on when you read it.
–Thanks for letting me share my review here M.G.,

* * * obsessed by books arc given for an honest review * * *

This book is about love and loss.

Daniela has suffered a tremendous amount of hurt, physical and emotional. Daniela was drugged at a party and raped, when runs to get help she runs into her best friends boyfriend Nick, then just two days after that she loses her best to murder. she tries to console Nick, but decides she moving to try to start over. She keeps in contact with Nick , cause she feels he saved her that night.

Daniela doesn't opened up or trust people easily due to what happens to her. She meets Nathan who understands what she's going through due to it happen to his sister, that helps Daniela to trust Nathan. The friendship the form becomes extremely close, that Daniela starts forming feelings she not quite sure of and even though Nathan is telling her how he feels, she's afraid of losing their friendship. while dealing with her feelings for Nathan she meets Alex who she grows feelings for as well. She's not sure about Alex due to his side job, but decides to try with him.

Daniela has made friends, grown feelings, she has actually open her self up to live. but when she goes back home and visit with Nick she gets that uneasy feeling again. Will Daniela ever feel safe and will she ever get her true love.

This book had a lot of characters and each one played an important part in this story. Although Daniela suffers a great deal, she stays strong with help of all her friends. I gave this book a 4 star rating, it was just that I hated so much happen to this one girl, but the book itself is awesome.

I received this story from NetGalley.
I really did enjoy this story. It was pretty predictable. But overall it was a very good story. The writing style is easy to read.
It talks alot about friendship, which even friends can turn on you. Best friends, you think you know a person and you never know what can happen. I like knowing some people are trustworthy. You go through childhood with somebody and you think you know them. Lots of romance and sex, although I dont mind it some people do. It wasnt 50 shades crazy but it was pretty steamy. There was also some mystery. During the end it captivated me and I couldnt stop reading. So it was really a good story.
Everything that this character Daniela goes through is insane. Before the story starts her back story. Its just hard to believe that some people can be so cruel. But during the story as much as she goes through, its unbelievable. Being in her final year of college you would hope it would be smooth sailing. But when is life ever smooth. She overcomes so much. Finds herself. Finds different relationships. She becomes such a strong character in the end, I just loved it.
In some stories I love, love triangles. Some stories it drives me crazy. This one I really did enjoy the love triangle. Although I came to love one of the men she wanted to be with. Their was also one I really didnt want to love but he ended up being so sweet. You just had to love them both.
This is a debut novel by ML Garcia. I think she did a fabulous job on this story. I would highly recommend this story.

What She Lost and Found by M.L. Garcia is an emotional story about a young woman, Daniela, whose life has been torn apart by rape and murder. Trying to build a new life in a new city, she finds her past holding her back from getting close to anyone, particularly men. As the story progresses, she realises she has a lot more to go through before she will fully be safe.
I really like the characters in this. Bridget, Daniela’s former roommate and closest friend at uni, is full of energy and love for her friends. Love triangle notwithstanding, I also like Nathan and Alex and admire how they respect Daniela and her boundaries.
It’s written in a first person, fairly informal style. At times I found this a little frustrating as Daniela’s thoughts and worries kept the story from flowing but I suppose that’s a pretty accurate portrayal of how her concerns were keeping her from getting on with her life. There’s a lot of detail – we are told exactly what Daniela is wearing every time she gets changed – which for me was a bit excessive but might for others help paint a vivid picture.
With rape and murder scenes, often fairly vividly described, this is quite a dark book but it is balanced with cheerful, playful friendship and gentle romance. It might be triggering for some readers. I found it quite tense at times, but mostly in an “I can’t put this book down!” kind of way.
For me, this is a four star read. I would recommend it to new adult readers who want a book about overcoming challenges and tragedy.

What She Lost and Found is M.L. Garcia’s debut novel and what a debut it is! It is a combination of romance, mystery, suspense, heartbreaking tragedy … and healing … We meet Daniela who lost her innocence in an extremely horrible way and it all got compounded by even more horrible event just two days later. These events have changed her life for ever … We also meet Nathan who needs to find his way into Daniela’s heart … this journey is long and painful and when you join them on that journey you need to be prepared for heartbreak and despair, you will also experience hope and love …
You can feel that this is the beginning of a great career and I am convinced that the next book will feel ‘smoother’, it is hard to explain – it was a great story with characters that you fall in love with and I admire the way she handled a very sensitive issue but it felt a bit clunky at times that I know she will smooth out the more she writes!
I am walking away from this book with something that M.L. Garcia wrote, it has been ‘singing’ to me at the back of my head and asking me to remember it for the moment when I feel down: “If you’ve been through hell and found the courage to survive, be happy you had the strength to make it through. If you figured out what makes your happiness thrive, be grateful you had the wisdom to figure it out. And for the moments that bring pure joy into your life, cherish each one.”

What She Lost and Found
By: M.L. Garcia
5 out of 5 stars

The story What She Lost and Found by M.L. Garcia is a wonderful book that I loved reading. It is a story that hooked me in from the beginning and didn’t let go until the ending page. It is an emotional journey that I found both heartbreaking and heartwarming. I loved reading about the character of Daniela Franco. She is someone who because of the past doesn’t trust easily and is careful who she lets into her life. Her journey has her taking chances of building trust and includes the possibility of finding love. Reading about how Daniela feels is at times sad however there are other times that have her experiencing happiness. How will Daniela cope when secrets from the past begin to resurface? Read this book to find out. This story includes emotional dialogue. My emotions went up and down the entire time I read the story. I found myself angry and sad about some situations that happen. There are other times where you can’t help but feel the good emotions and hope that Daniela has. The story has additional characters that are introduced and I enjoyed reading about the part they play in Daniela’s life and their interactions with her. The story flows smoothly and was a joy to read. This is a book that touches the heart and has amazing characters. Don’t miss out on reading it. I would highly recommend it.

What She Lost and Found was a great 5 star read.

Daniela had everything going for her, she and her best friend were in college having a great time. Until a couple of tragic nights happen that send everything spiraling out of control for Daniela.

We jump ahead to Dani at a different college. She is struggling with trusting others, especially men. She has a set schedule for work and school that she follows exactly. When a hot guy comes into the coffee shop where she works, he causes her to feel things she hasn’t felt in a very long time. She ends up growing very close to Nathan, so close that she sees him as a best friend but he wants more. Then she meets Alex, which throws even more of a wrench into things.

We learn even more about Alex and Nathan. Nathan had me at hello, I really loved him and Dani would frustrate me with the choices she would make. Alex was ok but not my first choice. We get even more of a twist when someone starts to stalk Dani, bringing up feelings from the past. My emotions were all over the place with the twist and turns. The secondary characters were great, I loved Bridget. M.L. Garcia has done a great job of pulling me right in with her writing. I loved this book and I can’t wait to read more from her.

well where do I start??
this book is more than a story it's the journey of a young girl who's innocence and best friend were stolen from her in a weekend.
once Daniela starts telling her story you can't help but be caught up in it I couldn't put it down, I felt so sorry for Daniela and at the beginning you understand while she was just going through the motions of life until……………………… Nathan.
I loved Nathan from the minute he is introduced and I was really really routing for him and Daniela to get together and as much as it pains me to say but from Daniela point of view I can see why she didn't want to pursue a relationship with him, as she after all she lost as soon as she met Nate she felt safe and she needed him more in her life as a friend than as a boyfriend who if they split badly she would lose and she couldn't afford to lose him.
Alex Alex Alex I really didn't want to like him as I am team Nathan but I just couldn't help falling for him and how he was with Daniela.
this book was nothing like I thought it would be it had so many twists and it was such an emotional rollercoaster.
I'm a sucker for a HEA and Daniela truly deserved hers :)

What She Lost and Found by M.L. Garcia is an emotional journey that is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. It is a story where my emotions were all over the place as I meandered along this journey. There are many characters and a lot going on with this story but it is easy to follow along and the story is well written. There are a lot of twist and turns and a lot of mystery as to what is really going on in the lives of these young people. I did find myself frustrated a lot of times with the main character Daniela but at other times I wanted to wrap her up in cotton wool.

Daniela has had to adapt her life just to survive. She has survived one of the most tragic and horrific situations in her life only to find out two days later it only gets worse. She now has a stalker, one who is hell bent on getting her and doesn’t care who gets in their way. When the secrets and lies are finally unraveled she can finally move forward with her life and the one person who has always loved her.

This is certainly one of those books that once you start it you can hardly put it down until it is finished! (By the way I happen to love books like that!) What She Lost And Found covers some very real and very difficult situations, but M.L Garcia writes with realism and compassion. Daniela, the main female character, has more traumatic events happen to her and those she loves than any one person deserves. However, she deals with these events with strength and courage making her a female character to look up to. Alex and Nathan both love Daniela in different ways, but can Daniela open her heart to them before it is too late?
I love the surrounding characters such as Bridget, she supports Daniela through all the ups and downs. Whilst adding humour and realism to the story.
Daniela eventually realises that life is short and you have to move on from what you've lost to enjoy what you've found! A gritty and enjoyable book. I award it 4 stars ~ Rosie

What She Lost and Found
By M. L. Garcia
4 stars

What She Lost and Found was a wonderful read and a great debut novel for this author. I found I was hooked into the story easy, it had a pretty good pace and flow (in most parts) to it which made it a pleasure to read.
Daniela’s character was really well written and I could tell the author had really thought about her. I could feel all of the emotions that she did and my heart broke for her a few times. I really did find myself rooting for her the whole way through.
Nathan really was a lovely character, I could feel the protectiveness that he had towards Daniela and he really did want to help her. I loved the two of them together.
The book does contain some sensitive issues but the author navigated them well and respectfully. I can definitely see that this author has potential and I am really looking forward to reading more from her in the future.

A copy was provided by Netgalley for an honest review.

What She Lost and Found deals with emotional after effects of sexual abuse, so if this is a no go topic for you, be cautioned. I started out thinking I was going to like this emotional read with difficult topics. However, I think I can only read so many situations about one character being assaulted in a single book before I start yelling at my Kindle “oh, come on”. I can’t believe any one person would have so many sexual assaults/attempts in such a short period of time in so many different scenarios. I don’t think I have ever spent so much time yelling at a Kindle. Daniela is so jumpy and suspicious of every male person then all the sudden, she is ready to jump into dating. But not with her sweet, understanding sexy best male friend, no, she wants to date the cute and sweet drug dealer…. I don’t get it.

Daniela lost everything in one weekend including her innocence and best friend. It was heart wrenching to read. Since then she is just coasting through her life. She moves away to put all of that behind her and hides herself behind drab clothes and no makeup. She throws herself into her school work. She meets Nathan and becomes friends with him opening her heart to him and sharing her past. He is so sweet to her. She meets and starts dating Alex. I really wanted her to date Nathan instead. Really. As if this girl hadn't gone through enough, she is attacked and finds out that she has a stalker. Holy cow. She just can't catch a break.

This is just one of those books that you can't put down until the very last page. I so wanted to see Daniela come through everything and hoped that Nathan was by her side in the end.

I give What She Lost and Found 4 hearts!

I received this book as an arc for a honest review. Daniela was assaulted her first year of college and then her best friend Christina was raped and murdered two days later. Dani changed colleges and became a loner after that, to survive she goes to school and work and has only a few friends. Then she meets Nathan who wants more from her but settles on being her best guy friend until she meets Alex and starts dating him. She feels too much for Nathan to give him a chance because she never wants to lose him. Then she gets a stalker at her new college...This book is a great read and Dani's recovery and will to let go of what happened to her and try to live again is wonderful. And you just want to root for Nathan because he really loves her through everything. This book is wonderfully written and has some great characters.

What She Lost and Found by M.L Garcia is story with a bit of a love triangle. It twisted and turned, and kept me reading the whole way through. The tension was really well done and had me on the edge of my seat. There was plenty of love, loss, grief, pain, mature content, great characters, interesting and surprising developments, and more. There is even a ‘stalker’ element- which added an extra element of intensity, mystery, and suspense.
The story definitely had a lot going on in it, and a lot of characters too- but Ms. Garcia choreographed all the elements quite skillfully. I really felt for Daniela and everything she went through. I loved Bridget, everyone needs a supportive friend like her! And the HOT guys !
Well written and engrossing read!

Thank You, Ms. Garcia!

What She Lost and Found by M.L. Garcia is a very emotional story. Daniela has had her life torn apart and now she has to try to fight through it.

Daniela has experienced trauma that no one should ever have to deal with. She thinks that starting over in a new city and getting a fresh start may help. However, she realizes her past is holding her back. She doesn’t get close to people, she doesn’t trust anyone, especially men, and she doesn’t feel safe.

Due to some scenes being depicted fairly detailed, this book may not be suitable for some readers but the author does a good job balancing the “dark” parts of the book with more cheerful, light parts as well. I truly couldn’t put this book down. My heart ached for Daniela but I was glad to see her working through her issues and gaining meaningful relationships in her life. I absolutely recommend this book.

What She Lost And Found by M. L. Garcia was my first read by this author. I enjoyed reading this book and it captured my attention from the very beginning. Everyone has a past. Everyone has a choice to either move on and be stronger because of it or live in fear. Daniela Franco has been through a lot a few years ago. Not only did she lose her best friend tragically but she was also assaulted.
Daniela finally becomes great friends with Nathan. He’s the only male she trusts aside from her dad. She slowly comes out of her shell and eventually meets Alex. There was a lot of back and forth with Daniela. Which man should she date ? Which man will she date.
This book keeps the reader totally entertained throughout the whole book.

What She Lost and Found by M.L Garcia was a story that was hard to read at times only due to the subject matter. Ms. Garcia did a good job writing about a horrible and traumatic subject. This is one of the things about the book that actually left me without words. There is just no way to describe the agony Daniela dealt with for those years.

Daniela, a Senior at The University of Texas at Austin (Hook'em) hasn't really lived her life until now. She slowly comes out of her shell and acts like someone her age inspite of all of the pain from her past.

So much happened in this book, most of it was great but there are also some very sad, tragic moments too. I loved seeing Daniela discover who she is and to find her happily ever after.

What She Lost and Found by M. L. Garcia is a four star novel. I really enjoyed digging into the life of Daniela. At first, it is a big secret about what happened to Daniela before she started college. Some of the information that comes out and in the amount of detail it is in could be triggering for some readers. Please be advised of this. When the situations surrounding Daniela’s trauma emerges, we begin to understand why she acts the way she does and surrounds herself with very few people. She changed her major to make her life not as out in the open. She doesn’t even know how she might be able to move on or heal from the tragedies. Maybe finding someone to fill her love life will lead her to healing. But she isn’t sure she can open herself up to love.

An ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

This book definitely took me on a ride! My emotions were all over the place and What She Lost and Found is full of love, friendship, lost, heartbreak, and anger. Daniela Franco is a young woman who has experienced so much in her life. My heart really hurts for her and all she has to endure. She meets Nathan and Alex, who are two completely different types of people, however they both have feelings for her. Will Daniela be able to choose between the two of them? What happens when tragedy strikes? If you're looking for a book full of emotions and angst, then definitely check this one out! Awesome debut novel!

Yes! This was a tad different than what I was expecting. It was More than I expected!
My emotions and feels were all over the place. I'd get to my happy place and
then here comes the heartbreak. The main characters Daniela, Nathan and Alex were
fabulous. Their imperfections were captivating and made them feel real. The
love stories in this book were beautiful. Daniela goes through hell and it seems like
the demons from that hell still haunt her as she tries to move on with her life.
She is a strong female character even though she's had things happen in her life that
could have broken her! Very enthralling debut novel from this author. 4 and half stars!!!

WHAT SHE LOST AND FOUND by M.L. Garcia is a book I went into blind. I didn't look at the cover or know what the story was about.

From the very beginning of the story, I was invested in the female protagonist and her journey. What a journey it is.

The story is told mainly in present time in a single POV. There is quite a lot going on and at times it was so over the top that I rolled my eyes.

I did enjoy the friendships that developed throughout the story. The honesty of several of the characters is refreshing and the fact that it is not overly sexual means I could recommend it to my younger cousins as a cautionary tale.

I really enjoyed this book it takes you on a ride of twist a turns such as one min your happy the next you could be mad, sad, confused you never know whats coming next its about love, pain, loss, friendship, broken trust, how truly strong one person can be from so much pain they had been threw and still find their true love this book has no cliffhanger I myself could not put this book down and read it in one day cause i had to know what was going to happen next. I can't wait to see what M.L. Garcia writes next this being her first book i think its great and she could become a great author.

There is a lot of mystery and suspense in this story, the lead character goes through quite a lot and is on an emotional rollercoaster. She has a choice, to let life beat her down or to become stronger and refuse to cower or remain stagnant. The characters are realistic as is their dialogue. The book moves along at a steady pace whilst it kept me engaged throughout. A well written, interesting and intriguing story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

WHAT SHE LOST AND FOUND by M.L. Garcia

Four Stars

Ok I have many good and bad thoughts about this story. First off too many bad things happen to Daniela. Like the girl doesn’t get a break from the crazy. Then there is the choice in partners major negative. No matter how much of a good person he is. The author had a few bumps with the flow of the story but it wasn’t terrible. I will say that I liked the message. Life is a big mess and it could tear you down. The key is to never give up and keep pushing forward.

This story is amazing. It send you on such a rollercoaster of emotions.

Daniela is a young woman with a troubled past. Its her story about how her past impacts her present and the twists and turns she takes.

While reading this book i have laughed, I have sobbed and i have felt such happiness it was as if it was happening to me.

The writing is amazing at building the story and making you feel the emotions of the characters. The books also takes some extremely delicate subjects and presents them in a respectful way giving the reader an insight into that experience
