Something bad has happened (again) in Dusky Beach. And Rita Deltone, a tough talking waitress from Lemon Run, Florida, is smack in the middle of it. She knows all too well the dirt road she took to get down so low, but she takes the long way 'round in the telling.
Liam Donell is the new detective in town. His partner is on vacation so he has to handle all the dirty work. But this Rita chick is pretty cute. He's not making the best decisions regarding the case. Soon enough, it turns ugly.
An unlikely couple, Rita and Liam try to make the best of a bad situation. With hot, hilarious, and surprising results.
Originally from Boston, Mickey J. Corrigan lives and writes and gets into trouble in South Florida, where the men run guns and the women run after them.
*I received a copy by author for my honest opinion.*
I've read previous work by this author, but not from her series "The Hard Stuff". This is book 3 of the series. This story made my head spin. I was completely "flabber-gasted", in a good way.
The author has the ability to spin a tale with surprising results, that made me laugh because I guessed wrong to my surprise. I love stories like that. I dislike predictability. It's highly entertaining and keeps you on your toes.
I found the characters very likeable, and interesting. Situations that they found themselves in were down right hilarious, though, this is their own fault. They were smart, but at times, lacked common sense, which made me laugh at their own expense. Thinking with body parts instead of their brains, though this was done by Liam (detective) and Rita, well....just Rita.
This is a short read of 80 pages. I was able to read it within an hour. It contains romance, humor, and crime. The ending was surprising and enjoyable. If you love to laugh, this is definitely a book for you to read.
I recommend this book to all readers who like a surprising ending. Happy Readings.
Mickey never ceases to amaze me! Eighty pages and you have me screaming for more! What a messed up woman Rita is and don't even get me started on the detective! TEQUILA DIRTY held my attention for all eighty pages right from the very first one! I can almost see myself hanging out with Rita one night just to see how much trouble we could get into! Once again, a very hot and sexy read! The sexual tension between Rita and detective Donell just about killed me! A perfect way to spend an hour with an awesome story! Well done Mickey! Can't wait to read more by you!
Bad things have happened yet again, in Dusky Beach. Rita Deltone is a tough talking waitress from Florida and unfortuntely she finds herself trapped smack down the middle of the entire bad mess. She knows how she got there but getting around to talking her way out of it is a bit of long road ahead.
Liam Donell is the hot new detective in town, with his partner out of town it comes down to him handling all the dirty work. This includes getting Rita to talk, but he has one little problem, he finds Rita quite too cute and starts thinking with his body rather than his brain, thus ends up making not the best kind of decisions one would expect hot shot detectives to make.
His decisions lead to some pretty ugly but also hilarious consequences, but will they also lead to death and destruction ?
This author is known for writing totally over the top reads, the first time I read one of her books I was a little shocked, it was simply just not what I was use to, but the more I read her books the more I discover the that the magic in her writing lies within her ability to create characters that really do exist in everyday life.
And the situations the characters find themselves in are pretty much the stuff that really happens in real life, yet we just never hear about it all, simply because it is either just too tragic or too embarrassing for those involved.
And for this very reason I adore discovering what this author dreams up, I know am guaranteed to find a little humor, be so surprised that I literally fall from my reading chair and at the same time I get that special " this is the way life really happens" feeling.
I am delighted to say that this time around the author outdid herself, she gave me all of the above but on a higher level that I found very satisfying as in some of her previous reads I was able to take away some of what I was looking for but still did not quite hit the full package spot.
I laughed so hard during this read, and bonus it only took me forty minutes to complete, it's short but powerful with loads of action and fun crazy out there moments.
I recommend this read for anyone looking for something new , I encourage you to try it even if it sounds like it simply will not be for you. Trust me within these pages lies a great, fun and awesome read!
4.5 star review " They get down and dirty but what happens when the Tequila runs dry?"
Tequila Dirty (The Hard Stuff) by Mickey J. Corrigan is a great, fast read. It's a continuation of her stories from Dusky Beach, Florida. If you enjoy reading series stories as I do you'll enjoy this book. If you enjoy a little mystery with your romance you'll enjoy this book. 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Rita Deltone meets Ruben Drake at the Kettle of Fish, a bar in Dusky Beach, Florida. He talks her into doing a dirty dangerous deed for $10K by going to the King Kong suites. When she wakes up she finds herself tied to a bed in the psych ward at Dusky Beach Hospital, and Detective Liam Donell is by her bedside. Liam believes Rita is helping him find a killer who’d sent her to the suites, and he’s sure she’s been set up by Ruben. Is Liam's interest in Rita is more than what it seems? Things start getting hotter, and a little more confusing for Liam. Someone else shows up at Rita's apartment, and things may not be as they seem.
A woman found unconscious in a room with two dead people; a detective assigned to investigate the case without his partner; sparks flying in all the directions; these two unlikely individuals come together in a gripping story with much more twists than in a roller coaster ride. Mickey J. Corrigan is a very interesting story teller. The way she has presented the story from the perspective of both the lead characters are so captivating and interesting. The language is simple and easy to get through. The suspense is amazing and will keep you hooked till the very last page. The best part of the book is, the story starts right at the beginning, on the very first page and ends properly at the last page. It is short and succinct; just right, in fact. Tequila Dirty is a book I would recommend to all mystery lovers. As this is part of a series, I would definitely look out to read the other parts as well.
Tequila Dirty is another strong effort from Mickey J. Corrigan and her Hard Stuff series. Mickey has a great talent for writing characters, in particular females, who are flawed and know it, yet don’t care. Ms. Corrigan’s descriptive style of writing brings you into the worlds she creates which are gritty and more realistic than most would care to admit. Rita Deltone is no different in Tequila Dirty. Despite Rita’s imperfections as a human being, you root for her to succeed.
Ms. Corrigan has a special talent for finding a balance between writing characters who we know should fail, yet we stand and cheer when they don’t. Every book in the Hard Stuff series offers sexy, in your face stories that never fail to grab your attention while reading them. They even make your mind wander to other places too, but you will have to read them to understand what I mean.
Mickey J. Corrigan has done it again! With her third book in the Hard Stuff series, Tequila Dirty, brings the reader back to Dusty Beach with new characters Rita Deltone and Detective Liam Donell. Mickey crafts a fast paced, hard to look away from tale that casts the reader into Rita's shoes from the opening sentence and leaves their eyes bugging out with a whopper of twist, no one sees coming. Brilliantly written, Tequila Dirty, is short, steamy, and satisfying. Do yourself a favor and add this book to your collection today.
