I devoured this short novella and got pretty attached to the characters even though we only got them for fifty-odd pages.
I really adored the fact that Alyssa being a necromancer was seen incredibly positively by others she interacted with rather than people reacting negatively to her as is often the case for characters with that ability. And I loved the fact that her mates included a minotaur and a kitsune, which I certainly don’t see that often in the books I read.
This may be short and sweet, but it still gives us a little bit of spice too.
If Miranda ever decided to do a full-length version of this, I'd be perfectly up for reading it! From the brief hint we saw, I can imagine that our fox, Ren, would get up to some real mischief…
Flirting With The Dead is a ghost romance anthology with short stories written by several authors including A.J. Moran, Leslie Ayla, Miranda May, N.A. Jameson, Sullyn Shaw, Daphinie Cramsie, Sonya Lawson, and Tericka Black. Each story has some sort of ghost element included within the story. Each story is short and doesn’t take long to read. I liked most of the stories and hope to see some of them become full length books later. If you’re looking for a fun and quick Halloween type spooky book, then this may be a good place to start.
Vivify by miranda may: this was short and spicy and perfect for spooky season. Alyssa is a necromancer and her goddess has sent her to revive a soul at a haunted house of all places. What she doesn't realize is that she's about to meet her fated mates. I love all three of her mates. Christos, ren and D are all different supernaturals and this was a quick and fun read!
This review is for Miranda May's Vivify, part of the Flirting With The Dead Anthology, by Miranda May @mirandamatauthor.
This was a great novella about Alyssa, Christos, Ren, & Darren! Tropes: Contemporary, Paranormal (Necromancer, Kitsune, Minotaur, Myling), Single POV (Alyssa’s), Revenge, Found family & HFN!
Loved the spice!!!! It’s short sweet and to the point! With Mates galore! I really wish there was more to their story because I would have loved that. For a HEA, fast mates, super naturals, with MM and MFMM I am down! It is all from female POV.
In this story we have Serena, Vaughn, and Aiden. Serena has flames that seem to attract unwanted attention. Vaughn and Aiden are a ghostly presence that helps protect her even if she doesn’t know. The story has a lot of action packed into it. The story is well written and developed and even though it is a shorter story, as with most anthologies, it doesn’t feel like you are missing anything. It definitely drew me in and kept me glued to it. I loved how it ends so sweet and with a bit of humor.
Ghost Daddies By: Leslie Ayla
This was unique. We have a whole group of people that are ghosts that can become solid with their soulmates. Frankie is intrigued by ghosts and haunted places. She travels to different locations and writes about them to share with others. She meets Baron and Oscar on one of these occasions. The is a fast paced story that is well written and developed. It pulled me in with its bits of humor and interesting concept that is throughout the story. Definitely a great read.
Vivify By: Miranda May
I loved this story. It is a quick story that quickly pulls you in. Alyssa is a necromancer and does the bidding of her goddess. She is on a job when things are not as easy as they normally are. We meet D, Ren, and Christos. While I would have loved to learn more about each of these guys we unfortunately don’t have enough time. However, this does not make the story any less enjoyable. The story is unique and intriguing. It is a fun read that you definitely will enjoy.
Castle on the Rock By: N.A. Jameson
I love N.A. Jameson stories. They always take you into another world. The journey we have with Addie, Barrett, Tripp, and Quentin is a quick but epic journey. We have a team of ghost hunters that need Addie’s help. She joins them to solve an unusual case. The story may be a quick read but it is definitely not lacking. The chemistry between them all is felt throughout the story. It is well written and developed. I loved how it ends but definitely wished it was longer, only because I loved these characters and their personalities. Definitely a fantastic read.
Who knew that the spirit world could come with equal parts charm, spice, and sass? Flirting with the Dead is an anthology that proves the afterlife isn’t all moaning chains and dusty crypts—it can be swoony, witty, and even a little bit wicked.
Take Ghost Daddies by Leslie Ayla. Imagine a haunted travel blogger who stumbles into not one, but two spectral heartthrobs. The premise? Ghosts who can literally “solidify” with their soulmates. Yes, it’s cheeky. Yes, it’s clever. And yes, there’s just enough bite (and a dash of punishment) to keep things spicy without losing the fun. It reads like a romp through a gothic mansion with hidden doors and even more hidden desires.
Or Vivify by Miranda May. Here, a necromancer named Alyssa is out doing divine errands and instead winds up with a crew that sounds like the start of a very eccentric dinner party: a myling, a kitsune, and a minotaur walk into her mission… and suddenly “raising the dead” feels more like raising the stakes of the heart. The story is short, sharp, and surprisingly uplifting—because who expects a feel-good necromancer tale? Certainly not me, yet here we are.
Both pieces prove that ghostly romances don’t have to be dreary or overwrought. They can be snappy, imaginative, and leave you wishing for longer encounters (and maybe a spectral sequel or two). If you like your paranormal with a wink and a kiss instead of doom and gloom, this anthology is definitely worth haunting your shelves.
What a fun anthology just in time for spooky season! When a blurb says, “Featuring tales of romance, where ‘till death do us part’ is merely the beginning,” you know I had to read it. I have only read a few ghostly romance stories, and having a whole book of them by various authors earns major bonus points! It is a fantastic way to read ‘new to me’ authors!

Thanks to N.A. Jameson for gifting me an eARC of Flirting with the Dead. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is a very emotional story that had me laughing and almost crying in the same chapter. It’s an anthology about death so of course there is tragedy and loss. There is also tenderness and love along with a little bit of spice. It ends in a major cliffhanger that makes me want to read the rest right now!!
Vivify By Miranda May
Even though this is in an anthology that focuses on the dead this story really is about coming back to life. There aren’t many feel good stories out there about necromancers and their fated mates but this one definitely is. I loved all the characters but I definitely want more. I hope they get another story in the future.
Ghost Daddies By Leslie Ayla
Love a little who is independent when she is big and a brat when she is little and Frankie fits this bill. Daddies who are ghosts are unique and I love how it fits in the bigger world of undead Daddies this author has. There is a sprinkling of spice and punishment throughout. A great short story
Castle on the Rock By N.A. Jameson
This gave me 90s television vibes ala Buffy or Charmed. It was absolutely riveting from start to finish. What made it better than any 90s show though was Adley gets all the men rather than having to choose. And let me tell you when she has them she really has them if you catch me drift. The spice be spicy. The plot twist at the end was perfect. Great little spooky story.
This review is for: Ghost Daddies by Leslie Ayla "That breathless pause between what was and what might be." Frankie searches for the undead, to tell their stories and maybe find a counterpart for them. And she blogs of her adventures to raise a bit of money that allows her to continue traveling. Oscar and Baron fell for her as soon as they saw her. Being undead they can't go near her. One touch and she could die or become undead. Unless....they are counterparts, the perfect match of souls
This review is for: Vivify by Miranda May A necromancer, kitsune, minotaur and myling meet at the Phantom's Playground. This is not the start of a joke. It is the start of a great novella full of amazing characters and scenes to get lost in. Miranda's writing flows and she tosses in plot twists, mates, mystery and fan your face steam. All with a well deserved HEA.
Haunted Flames by A.J. Moran is part of the Flirting with the Dead Anthologies. Fire witch Serena learns she can see and speak to ghosts and that two of them have been protecting her from danger. As she uncovers the strength of her powers, a surprising twist changes everything. This is a quick, spooky read to get you in the mood for Halloween.
Vivify by Miranda May is a perfect read for Samhain As a part of this Anthology. Necromancer Alyssa is tasked by her Goddess Morrigan, only to be surprised to find her fated mates. Yes, mates… plural! I won’t spoil the ending, but it’s steamy yet hair-raising. Short enough for one sitting, this spooky story is a treat!
This title tells you everything about these short stories. You will het anything and everything that involves the dead from necromancers to ghosts and ghost hunters. Castle rock by N.A. Jameson Gives you a story of ghost hunters and cases needed to be solved. Addie is asked to help on a case and joins Barrett Tripp and Quentin the chemistry we feel from them is hot. Loved the unique take on this story.
Ghost Daddies by Leslie Ayla Frankie has always been fascinated with ghosts. When she meets Baron and Oscar we get aome intriguing info. They are ghosts and they can become solid if they find their soulmate. Another unique and fun read
Quick and fun read. It sucks you in from the beginning and holds you in until the last sentence. The writing is smooth and the plot is easy to follow. Would have loved to get to know the characters more in depth but didn’t have time for that unfortunately as it’s a short anthology. But what we did get to know of the characters is enough to make you love them. The entire plot was interesting with the necromancer aspects. The relationships between the characters was done beautifully. Overall a great read, easy to follow along and definitely recommend.
This review is just for Miranda Mays story Vivify, I will update the review after I read the others. I enjoyed this story. A very quick Halloween read where a necromancer is called upon to raise someone by Morrigan at a haunted house. Only this isn’t just any ghost. Alyssa gets quite the surprise that night that will forever change her life, in a good way. The spice in this quick story also hits and had my jaw dropping at a few times. Just over all a fun read.
I don't know what i was expecting. But it wasn't this. This was a magnificent story wrapped in a tiny bottle. How the author managed to pack plot, spice, FEELINGS into this small little stort is amazing. I loved how each character came to he together. The different aspects of the story to make the plot actual plot was more than I had hoped for. The spice though? Wow. That was something else. This makes me want to go find what other books might have this vibe.
If the rest of the anthology is this good, I would definitely recommend reading it.
This was a quick, fun and spicy read. I enjoyed it a lot. I loved the characters a lot. They had really good chemistry. Bc it was so short i would love more on them in the future. Seeing how her powers worked was really cool so I just want to see more of it.
As much as I would have loved a little bit more of the characters especially her mates it didnt take away from how fun this read was. We got plot, spicy and romance. The author did amazing wrapping this up perfectly at the end. It leaves you feeling satisfied with a hea but still wanting more.
One of my favorite things about Miranda is the way that I am able to quickly be pulled into a story. Something about the writing pulls me every time and I can’t seem to get enough. This story was interesting and unique. It was a fun read and I loved learning about each of the characters, although it was short I hope we can see these characters again. Overall good story and I hope we see more from these characters in the future!
I can’t wait to dive into the rest of these stories! They all look good and finding new authors is exciting!
This was a great little quick read. I loved Alyssa and how she just went with the flow. When she gets this pulling sensation to go to a hunted house to bring back and help a spirit, she didn’t expect to meet her 3 mates. We first meet D who is a Myling and Ren who is a Kitsune, Then we meet Chritos who is a Minotaur.
One of the MMC’s was unlived by a parent and Alyssa gets to bring him back. The spice in this book was amazing. Loved it 100%
This anthology of spooky assorted tales was quite the adventure. I can’t say that I’ve ever associated ghosts with spicy books, but these authors all share their very unique takes on a theme that I would have considered impossible previously. I was a bit shocked, but very entertained. With reversed harems, queer representation, mythological creatures, ghost hunters, and plenty of hot hot hot ghosts, this is a fantastic read to heat up your spooky season.
Review for Miranda May’s HEA story Vivify I was a bit afraid to read this book as it's a whole story with a HEA within 60 pages, but Miranda yet again proved that she can write anything. It was a unique, interesting story, it didn’t feel rushed, it told us everything we needed and honestly I can’t imagine for the story to be longer. And the epic epilogue? Which is usually reserved for an ultra HEA? That was a blast!
This was the perfect, dark steamy short read I didn't know I needed! A RH, multi-supernatural cast with a twist, one is a ghost!! How this works I do not fathom, but Miranda May works her magic and brings this little story to life. There's plot, feelings, steam and an ending you can definitely get behind. A lot is unpacked in such a short story and it was fantastic.
This was a quick and spicy read. I love having a bunch of different kinds of creatures in a harem. I was enjoying this so much I was sad when it ended.
The chemistry was off the charts. The spice was perfect. I like how everyone worked together to ensure everyone enjoyed themselves.
I also really enjoyed the haunted house setting as it was perfect for her finding her mates but also for the ending.
Just in time for spooky season, this anthology hits all the right notes. Short stories that scare and delight. My favorite is Leslie Ayla's Ghost Daddies tells the story of Frankie, who is investigating Whisperhill Castle. Except the ghosties don't want her there, trying to pack her up before she has a chance to even get started. Oscar and Baron are just what Frankie has looked for her whole life. She just needs to convince them that Ghost Daddies are her own HEA.
Viviy by Miranda May is a short and snappy read about a necromancer seeking a soul she is to raise for her goddess the Morrigan. Although this is a short read, its well paced and even has some steam. This is a fun read and certainly leaves you with a sense that perhaps there are more Halloween stories to come from this world.
This review is only for Vivify by Miranda May. This was the perfect novella for the Halloween season. When your goddess demands you find a ghost to resurrect, you don’t delay. This is how Alyssa finds herself at a haunted house where she meets her mates. I thought this was a great novella with a HEA.
This is a great anthology of a range of authors. I got to read Miranda’s Mays Vivify.
This is a great short story that will have you hooked from the first line. This story evolves around a necromancer who is out and about and lands into a mix of companions, these companions end up being more than she could have imagined – MATE. A great short, and spicy story.
Vivify, was absolutely beautiful. I loved each of the little group she built. It was sweet, sad, steamy. I hope there is more to read from this group one day. Vivify was well worth the read. The entire book Flirting with the Dead was extremely well written. I loved each story, and hope to read a full book about each novella included, they were all very good.
This story by Miranda is SOO good! From start to finish it’s funny, spicy and just a good story. I love these characters and the world we landed in. So much was created in such a short time frame. I would have read a whole series with these charters, really. Definitely pick up this anthology and turn to Vivify for a good time. 5⭐️ 3🌶️
Totally late to the party but what an anthology. I knew many authors already but I love to learn about new ones and these are all great in my opinion. I particularly enjoyed Vivify by Miranda May and a story with a necromancer? Well even though I honestly wish it was longer I absolutely loved her variety of mates and I hope it'll be a long book someday.
