Clarissa is burnt out. Her job as a bartender in the small town of Blarksonville is just another dead end, and her true dreams lie in becoming a veterinarian and caring for animals. When her day goes from bad to worse, she finds her entire life thrown upside down when she meets Conrad, a charming vampire with a curse and a mansion full of adorable monsters. Will Clarissa be able to resist temptation?
Alex is a mother who resides in Georgia with their young son. When they aren’t busy writing, they enjoy a good cup of coffee or tea while curling up with a good book (ideally with rain sounds in the background) and otome games.
I’ll never stop appreciating a novella that manages to give you all the things, and this one did not disappoint! Clarissa and Conrad’s chemistry comes off so organically and beautiful; I loved their story so much 🥹
The spice is SPOICING and I felt like Perez levelled up as an author in this one!! Not that I felt like they needed any improvement, but I really loved witnessing the effort they clearly keep putting into their work! 🩷🩷🩷
This little gem of a book helped get me out of my slump, which is big for my adhd ass, so thank you for the chance to ARC-read this beauty 🫶🏻
I am sooo happy I got to beta read this one because I devoured it so fast when I first got the book and then I devoured it once again reading the ARC copy.
As a vampire SLUTTTT (I have a kink for vampires I swear) I love myself some Conrad 😩 Like bite me please not Clarissa😆 But this novella was the perfect pace, the chemistry was delicious, I really had a fun time reading this. All the characters were so enjoyable to read!! If you want a quick enjoyable novella this is a great one to get your hands on! releases this month, April 15th!
Ps. I want some more Salistor because he’s so entertaining 👀
“The candlelight flickers, making her face glow. She’s gorgeous, though, in any lighting.”
“I will suck anyone dry who dares to touch what belongs to me and me alone.”
“Did I really just get adopted by a sexy, rich vampire?”
“I can’t let anyone else have her. I don’t know how I’ll breathe if it’s so.”
“How could I want to devour her completely and also leave her untainted at the same time?”
“It doesn’t hit me though that I’ve been caught. Not until his crimson eyes, which resemble pools of blood, meet mine.”

Thank you for letting me take part in reading this e-arc Alex! I’ve looked forward to reading this, especially after seeing the art work! This releases officially April 15th, so definitely date that in and give this a read, it’s a wonderful novella! 🖤
This is the first time I’ve read a novella and I enjoyed it a lot! Right off the bat (haha), a vampire which knows consent? Amazing! He’s also very sweet towards Clarissa, especially with a cute date scene they had, I thought that was very adorable. As well as after or before he feeds on her, he preps her or tries to, breakfast or dinner…he gets take out, and maybe burns the pancakes, but it’s the thought that counts and HE IS SO SWEET, especially when he gets nervous. I really love both his and Clarissa’s love for animals and I think it’s SOOOO adorable that Conrad lets her take up on doing exotic animal duties, can that be me please!!! I want to look after a unicorn, be adopted by a vampire and have money? 🥲 I found Salistor to be quite funny as well, and I don’t know I’ve just been picturing Sebastian from Black Butler whenever he’s in a scene!
The spice was really really good!!! I also love that the exotic creatures he has, they each have their own special habitats, it actually kind of reminds me of Hogwarts legacy the game, where you have the magical rooms and put creatures in it, so I loved that a lot! 🖤
I would have loved more with Stewart, DON’T ASK ME WHY, THE CONCEPT OF A KRAKEN PET JUST SOUNDS ADORABLE! Aside from that I really liked this, and if you like a sweet, fun, novella, with a vampire and magical creatures? READ THIS WHEN IT ARRIVES 15th APRIL AND AGAIN, thank you so much Alex for letting me arc read this! 🖤
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This novella was such a fun, fast, and spicy read! Who doesn’t love a sexy rich vampire?! The FMC, Clarissa, stumbles into a pretty perfect situation! I too would stick around after being offered anything I ever wanted in exchange for the hot vampire to drink my blood lol! 🤭 If you like vampires, spice, and mythical creators this one is for you! 🙂↕️
Thank you Alex Perez for the arc and the opportunity to review honestly! ☺️
Ugh this novella was SO GOOD! This is everything you want in a novella, short, spicy and tells a full story! I love a good vampire book more than anything and this is one of the bests! Conrad and Clarissa honestly crack me up and make me fan myself and swoon all at the same time! The story kept me hooked.from beginning to end. The inner monologue from all the characters- Clarissa, Conrad, Salistor- never ceased to crack me up. It had the most perfect ending- chef's kiss!
In this modern-day set vampire romance novella, we find our female main character, Clarissa, kidnapped from her life working at a bar to make ends meet, and transported to a cursed vampire's mansion. There, she enters a deal with Conrad, the charming white-haired vampire who's in need of her assistance, specifically, her blo*d.
For a spicy novella, I did find myself wishing the spice scenes themselves were a little longer, as they felt quite rushed, however, there were definitely plenty of them; the author certainly delivered there! The pacing of the novella as a whole was good though, and didn't feel overly fast-paced or too insta-lovey.
There were enough small details and bits of background about the characters to make them not feel too one-dimensional. And I loved the addition of Conrad being an animal lover. It added a wonderful gentleness to him.
I loved all the magical habitat rooms we explored. Each of Conrad's mythical creatures were precious to him and were sweetly named. It added to the cosy and heartfelt atmosphere of this vampire novella, reminding us that not all 'monsters' are evil. Especially considering this vampire made Clarissa breakfast himself in the mornings, humorously burning pancakes in his attempt. He was such a gentleman throughout the entire novella!
Though the spice was sizzling and our two love interests thoughts were often wrapped in lust for each other, I really enjoyed the heartwarming scenes between Conrad and Clarissa too, as well as with his best friend Salistor and his animals.
Overall, this novella was a short and really sweet read. It was super fun, s*xy and lighthearted. I enjoyed the authors writing, and it was a refreshing little read after some of the more intense and heavy books I've read this month!
Thank you so much to the author for giving me the chance to read and review this!
*I received this book as an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) for free in exchange for an honest review*
This is by far one of the best vampire novellas I have read yet! Think- Vampire Diaries with Mythical Creatures
Clarissa- broke and working at a pub, suddenly thrust into the paranormal world? How did that happen? Vampires exist? Conrad needs her blood? Money? But why does it feel like bliss instead of pain?
Salistor- caretaker and friend to Conrad- has spent decades hunting random women in the hopes of curing his friend. All he wants is to cure his friend and find himself a boyfriend. Can’t do that while caring for Conrad and … all the other pets in the mansion
Conrad - sick and needing blood that will “cure” him … and he needs to protect his mansion and his pets. So when Clarissa is brought to him and suddenly he’s not as sick? He needs to protect her.
He woos her in the best ways for a billionaire vampire I must say I definitely need to find his twin somewhere because the deal he makes with Clarissa? Yes please!
If you're looking for a fast-paced, spice packed, short read, then look no further!
I loved this novella. Vampires, curses, magical creatures, fated mates, plus a human woman who falls into their world. Sprinkle in a 'good girl', and you have everyone's favorite tropes wrapped up with a neat little bow here.
*I was given this book as an eArc but my review is based solely on my own thoughts and opinions*
I give it a 3-4. 4 for the potential and story premise but 3 because it’s a novella and I wanted more lol. I really enjoyed the characters and the story, I felt it needs to be a novel so I could get more in depth, storytelling and detail. It was a fun read nonetheless. I love a good vampire love story. It feels too fast but that’s just the type of book it is so I can’t fault it for that. The sexy parts are great and you don’t have to wait long for them to happen haha. This book is great for a quickie (pun intended lol). The characters seem genuine and likable. I enjoyed the read, I’d read from this author again.
Plot: 3.5/5 • Smut: 2.5/5 ————> This little novella was short, sweet and to the point. She’s kidnapped to try and break the curse of a vampires best friend. Which she actually does. The vampire in question has been cursed by a former flame, a witch. We love a vampire novella that has a girl cumming on bite. That’s all I’ll say about that.
I love Alex's novellas! Fun, fast paced, spicy and still has a good story! My favorite part was probably all the magical creatures and I of course love Conrad! Salistor is also fun, bright and eccentric! While Clarissa is shocked by the paranormal, I love that she just rolls with it, I also love how much she loves animals because I do too. I'm always happy to read anything by Alex!
You have to love a novella that gives you plot, spice, and great characters! This was a fun and fast read with vampires, humans and mythical creatures. Conrad and Clarissa’s chemistry was great and I loved their banter! I’m hoping for more Salistor!
Loved this novella and love this author!!! Sexy vampire - CHECK Mysterious Curse - CHECK Forced Proximity - CHECK SPICE - CHECK with 4 Chili Peppers! Menagerie of Fantastical Creatures - CHECK Banter - All of Alex's books are full of wit, charm, and banter. LGBTQ+ Representation - CHECK
This novella was fun and whimsical, as all of Alex's books are, and I read it front to back in one day. It was a feel good, happily ever after with enough dilemma and conflict to keep you on your toes but not stress you out... at least not for very long. I thought it was a great balance of romance, mystery, fantasy/paranormal characters, and it was paced VERY well.
Some of my favorite quotes:
Conrad: "Clarissa—let’s not make a habit of you passing out every time I drink from you. I can’t feed on someone who’s dead, and you’re much too cute and young to die."
His tongue rolls against my skin, slurping the hot liquid from me with vigor. The more he sucks, the more my toes curl inward. (Alex is excellent at setting the scene and the imagery is unique)
When Conrad lifts his hand and runs his fingers through my long black hair, I let out a shudder. Why does his touch feel so tingly on such an innocent part of my body? What’s happening? (The spice hits the page EARLY in the book and the progression from tingles at just touching her hair is excellent and worth you reading the book and me not spoiling it for you here.)
Text Messages: Conrad: How else were we supposed to remain in contact? I don’t own a pigeon. 11:44 AM Clarissa: Weirdo. 11: 45 AM (cute banter)
Short, spicy, and dangerously addictive. Clarissa goes from pouring cheap drinks in Blarksonville to being kidnapped by the sexiest cursed vampire this side of midnight. Conrad has the whole broody-charming thing down pat, and his mansion full of adorable monsters is basically a chaotic Airbnb I would never leave.
The chemistry hits like someone shoved a hand fan into my face. Their banter made me snort laugh, their attraction made me swoon, and the spice was absolutely spicy. Hellloooooo extra Halloween scene.... Perez packed more heart and heat into this novella than some full-length novels manage.
Side characters steal scenes like they were born for it. Salistor and the rest of the crew are chaotic, warm, and wildly entertaining. Even the monsters are weirdly lovable, which is shocking until you remember that I will simp for any creature with a personality. Also, Clarissa is equal parts practical and delightfully chaotic, which is a combo I will defend to the death.
If you want vampires, curses, fated-mate vibes, and a satisfyingly spicy love story that tells a full emotional arc without wasting your time, this is it. It’s fast, fun, and hits every trope with gleeful precision. The ending wraps things up in a neat, swoony bow.
Ten out of ten. Would let Conrad kidnap me again, provided snacks are involved. Highly recommend for anyone who likes their romance with teeth and their novellas with actual payoff.
A short, fast-paced, vampire X human novella. This reads like a "fairytale for adult". An easy and fast read. I do have a tendency to read everything "vampire" I can find so I couldn't pass this novella. The author did a good job; the story delivers the essential. A few things are well-known if you know your "vampires" so nothing revolutionnary. I quite liked the magical creatures presence, I thought that was interesting.
Pick it up if you like vampires (of course), romance (please note it's open-door), and a touch of magic. Remember to read the trigger warnings before you start reading.
I received an e-ARC from the author. This review is my own and I'm leaving it voluntarily.
Clarissa is broke, burnout bartender in a small town when one day her whole world turns upside down by a vampire. Conrad plaque by a curse, being cared for by his best friend Salistor, will Clarissa be what they've been looking for over the centuries?
Fast pasted novella with vampires, curses, magical creatures, fated mates and it's spicy! Super fun, good banter between Clarissa and Conrad, and fun/relatable characters. I found myself wanting more of this story from the plot, the magical creatures, world - all of it. Gimmie moreeee hahaha.
-- Quotes --
"Melt for me my princess. If you turn into a puddle right here, I'll have more to drink."
Clarissa is having a truly terrible day at work when she suddenly finds herself kidnapped by the charming Salistor. His best friend and vampire Conrad has been cursed so all blood tastes vile so he is wasting away. When Clarissa agrees to let him feed, for a fee, he finds her blood is delicious and she finds it's a very sensual experience. Conrad and Clarissa have a strong connection right away, they have good banter and things get steamy. There is tension, conflict and interesting creatures (with amazing art included!) and while they made a deal for her blood they end up with so much more. This was a great paranormal/vampire romance with interesting characters. I'd love to read more about them!
This was the first book I have read by this author and it was really good. I loved how it was fast paced and still had a good plot to it, which is surprising since it is a novella. I will be reading more from this author!
Spice rating: 2 Chilis Has some triggers, please read them before continuing.
Clarissa: Her character was sweet and full of spice. I really liked her. Conrad: He is adorable. I am so glad he got his HEA. Salistor: He is my favorite!! Hilarious, eccentric and so much more!
Creatures: I love how the author added them into the story. It gave a heartwarming feel into it.
Highly recommend this novella and author. Happy reading!
I was blessed to be an ARC reviewer for this wonderful book. I commend Alex Perez for not setting a time frame for completion. Regardless it was a super quick read and I finished it within one day of starting it.
The FMC is a struggling aspiring student working at a bar trying to make ends meet with a dream to become a veterinarian. She is working late when an unfortunate incident causes her to walk home to change clothes. While returning to work she is apprehended by a stranger and taken. Upon waking she discovers she was transported to a large estate where a beautiful and frail white haired man offers her money, shelter, and goods in exchange for her delicious blood. Unexpectedly when she is bit by this white haired man she experiences an ecstasy she's never felt before. They create a bargain of monetary goods in exchange for her blood which is slowly healing him from a curse that has been afflicting him for over a century.
This vampire novella is a short and spicy book about a girl getting taken care of while being ravished by a beautiful white haired vampire. What else would a girl dream for? I do have to point out the plot points are fast paced. If you like a shorter romance that gets to the point this ones for you.
THIS is what we were all hoping Edward and Bella would be like. This novella was the perfect scrumptious single-serve snack. I loved Clarissa and Conrad and their relationship progression, with the spiciest of spice. I will admit my favorite part was the addition of magical creatures.
Alex is going to build you a world you are fully immersed in with every book, and even though this one wasn't a fantasy realm per se, I was still fully there. The epilogue was the perfect wrap-up too.
I’m a newbie to the vampire world and even this novella level taste, I understand the hype.
This contemporary world setting with fantasy elements and magical creatures brings short and spicy to the front with plot and character backstory still present. Including crazy curses and a moment of redemption.
This novella accomplished so much in a few hundred pages and was a great mix of so many elements that it’s genuinely impressive! Sometimes novellas can feel like too much or just not enough and Alex Perez found the sweet spot, in more than one way! 😉
* I received this book as an ARC reader in return for my honest review *
This novella was a quick and entertaining read, with a lot of spice in a small amount of pages. I enjoyed reading this vampire romantasy but it passed so quickly- this could easily have been turned into a full-length novel!
Thanks to Alex Perez for letting me read Bitten with Ecstasy! Looking forward to seeing other readers enjoy this once it releases next week 💕
Absolutely loved this book. I love Alex Perez’s books this is the second one I’ve gotten to be an arc reader for but definitely makes me look forward to future books. This is a quick read so the build up to the romance is short but by far does it lack because of it . It’s still amazing and plenty of time to fall in love with the characters. It was so good hoping there will be a second based in this world but if not was still a great stand alone especially with the bonus scenes at the end!
I enjoyed reading this (especially because it was hella steamy 😮💨) but just wish it was longer and more fleshed out!
This story had so much potential and I wish it wasn’t just a novella. There were so many interesting elements, especially with Conrad’s collection of magical creatures, he was giving me Newt Scamander vibes and I hoped there was a bigger focus on the creatures too.
This was such a fun book! It was a great mix of plot and smut. It reminded me of fantastic beasts, so many hidden magical things!
The interactions with the characters felt so fluid and not forced. The descriptions really immersed you into the environment. It was a quick read but it was easy to read also. Would highly recommend!
Vampires, spice, love, fun, mythical creatures, and more! This novella was beautifully written! A fast read that makes you not want to put it down, with a little bit of everything in it! I loved all the characters and the creatures. I love that the curse/ witch was brought back into the story in a wild way. Was just such a great book!
I was incredibly lucky enough to be able to ARC read this!!! I absolutely loved this book. A quick, fast burn, spicy book. I read it in one sitting! Loved this so much that I just wish it was longer, was super committed to the storyline and character development. The animal companions was such a fun addition to the story as well. So what I'm getting at is, move over Clarissa.... I know where I'd rather be!
This was just what I needed to get me out of a reading slump.
For such a short novella the author was able to fit in just the right amount of plot. I loved the magical element of the story with interesting mythical creatures, witches and vampires! This book had me cracking up and left me wanting to know more! If you're looking for a fun read, I suggest you give this book a read:)
Absolutely charming story and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who enjoys Vampire romances! Fast paced and spicy! As this is a novella, I don't want to spoil anything for you!
