Rate this book
In a world where divine beings and mortals coexist, Azreal, the formidable angel of death, finds himself at a crossroads of duty and desire. Tasked with delivering divine justice and collecting the souls of the marked, Azreal has always been bound by his celestial obligations. However, as his chains begin to loosen, he experiences the stirring of free will for the first time. This newfound autonomy leads him to discover an unexpected and profound connection with Alice, a mortal woman whose compassion and courage captivated him. The proposal of their love raises questions that challenge the celestial order; Can Alice accept Azreal's true nature with all of its supernatural responsibilities and burdens? and more pressingly, will the Gods, who have long dictated the course of angels and their fates, allow such a union to blossom? As Azreal grapples with these dilemmas, he must navigate the trials of love and judgment, discovering whether love can indeed transcend the boundaries of the divine and the mortal realms.

I am looking forward to reading more in this series. The pacing was quick and suitable for all short novella. Can't wait to read the rest of the avenging Angel series.

The audio!

Truthfully a pretty cool story towards the end. The female narrator was sort of plain until she transitions but the male narrator was good throughout and funny. I liked that there was a Goddess creator too and that she was equally if not more powerful!

"Avenging Angel Azreal" is an enthralling blend of celestial intrigue and mortal passion, earning a well-deserved 5-star rating for its ambitious storytelling and gripping pace. This action-packed novel explores the delicate balance between divine purpose and human choice, weaving a tale that is as thought-provoking as it is thrilling. Azreal is portrayed with remarkable depth, capturing the tension between duty and desire. Their transformation from a celestial enforcer to a being capable of love is both poignant and relatable. Not knowing the actual timeframe of the events in this book, it all feels super rushed… like girl you had one hell of a weekend!

Meet a hot man at a building fire, then a few hours later find a baby in a box, next day kindly let sexy man know you aren’t interested cause you are gonna be a mommy, then the next day her sets up everything you could need to get your house baby ready and gets you lawyers to make sure everything goes smoothly for adoption… then BAM you fuck him in his office, become an all powerful rage angel and obliterate a gang, back talk God, then go home to take care of your little girl… like what?! In less than a week?! I believe I would have had at least 5 high functioning anxiety attacks, and 1 breakdown!

But the moment the bad ass momma bear mode kicked in I was pumped! “You won’t like me when I’m angry, and I’m LIVID!” Fuck him up sis!!! And the fact that she got in god’s face about how he lets shit people live while letting good people die… absolutely how I would have handled that situation too!

Honestly think Mistress Lilith would approve of this book!

🌶️/5

So glad to have met this author at the Texas Author & Reader convention this past weekend! I can’t wait to read more!

Avenging Angel Azreal is the first book in the new Avenging Angel series. When Azreal first sees Alice he recognizes her as his mate. Alice on the other hand is not sure. This makes things very interesting going forward. There is drama, mystery, suspense, angst and love in this tale.
The duet narration by June Bronson and Jonathon Swift is fabulous. June Bronson was wonderful as Alice. She was sweet but sassy and fierce. You could feel her love for baby Princess and Azreal in her voice. She was much stronger and more confident and assertive after her transformation. Jonathon Swift was absolutely divine as Azreal. His voice was strong and commanding when warranted even scary at times. His tone was much sweeter when talking to or about Princess and Alice. These two fabulous voice actors brought this story to life brilliantly.

This was a quick, engaging listen that blended action, romance, and celestial intrigue. I enjoyed the premise of an angel torn between duty and love, and the connection between Azreal and Alice felt intense, even if a bit fast-paced. The theme of free will versus divine order added depth to the story. June Bronson did a great job capturing Alice’s strength and vulnerability, especially post-transformation. Jonathan Swift was perfect as Azreal, commanding, emotional, and nuanced. Their duet narration brought the characters to life, making the story even more immersive. While I wished for a bit more development, especially in the romance, I’m curious to see where the series goes next.

This is a duet narration performance by June Bronson and Jonathon Swift.

The narration and performance was great. The writing was... not. This book feels like the outline of a great story, but missing all the flourish of a writer. It's very short and blunt, with no expansion. The timing of the book is hard to grasp - I'm not sure if it was supposed to have happened over a month or a weekend, but it was very fast paced. The world building needs some work, but it has the bearings of a great start.

I think I'd enjoy revisiting this one later if it ever goes through some upgrades.

Thanks to High Gravity Production for the ALC. I borrowed the ebook via Kindle Unlimited.

Duet Narration - June Bronson & Jonathan Swift
Fantastic voices. Loved them.

This was a quick listen. Pretty fast paced. Spicy. I would definitely like to hear more in this story.

Azreal is a soul collector of bad people. He meets Alice and it is an instant love match for him.
Alice is sweet and has an amazing aura.

Enjoyable. Wish it was just a tad bit longer for a little bit more development but I still liked it.

Possible spoilers.

I wanted to love this book, but I didn’t. The pace was fast, which you might expect for a novella, but this was crazy fast. The whole book felt rushed. I did love the idea. The base story was really interesting. I just wanted more…more time to develop, more time to meet the characters and more connecting details to really put everything in place. I plan to read one of Tanya Steverding’s full novels. Hoping this will give me the more I was looking for in this one.

The narration for this book is good, but does not make up for the poor story. The plot is all over the place. There are unbelievable character developments. It’s just ….

Avenging Angel Azreal was something I didn't expect. It had mystery, drama, celestial beings and a plot twist that left me shell shocked. As soon as Azreal set his eyes on Alice, he knew that she was his soulmate. The connection and chemistry was a little to fast for my liking but who am I to judge the divine. Tanya brought in a different perspective with that, the battle of free will or the acts of the divine. It really put into question what really goes on with celestials.

Avenging Angel Azreal audiobook is a duet narration by June Bronson and Jonathon Swift. They really brought the characters to life and kept me entertained. June brought out Alice's will, strength and protectiveness over her baby while Jonathon took on the commanding, determined tone of Azreal. Both narrators did an amazing job, and I'm definitely intrigued to see where this story goes from here especially after Alice's transformation.
