Battlescars: A Rock & Roll Romance

Librarian's Note: This is an alternate cover for ASIN B00BTH2U1U

UPDATED 4/12/13 to add Prologue.

Afflicted- Battlescars II is now available.

Aubrey Thompson is a twenty-three year old flight attendant for her dad’s small commercial fleet. She’s a sarcastic smartass that has no problem telling you where to go. She also despises rock stars…but that’s all part of the story. Her Granny Jean is spy and will have you laughing out loud.

In comes Jake Parker, the twenty-five year old lead singer of Battlescars. His reputation is the untamable bad-boy. He’s completely “balls to the wall” in everything that he does. Two days after returning home from a month long tour across Europe he gets a visit from Bruce, an executive from the record label. He informs Jake that Battlescars is going back on tour for three months. What everyone doesn’t know is that Jake is worn down and sick of the same old shit.

His record label hires Aubrey’s dads company to fly him around for the last minute tour. In order to keep her dad's company afloat they will have to learn to play nice. When Jake first meets Aubrey she refuses to even acknowledge his existence. He sees her as refreshing and a challenge.

Both of them have some pretty heavy scars from their pasts holding them back. Can Jake get Aubrey to let him in? Or will she shoot him down based on his outlandish reputation? Will her fear of getting hurt again keep him out for good?

Are the two of them a match in heaven or hell?

”The key to finding lasting love is to find someone who loves you, battlescars and all.”

If you’re not a fan of "love at first sight", or you find yourself rolling your eyes at how fast two people fall in love than, this may not be the book for you, BUT if you could look past that and accept it as it is then you will find yourself getting lost in Aubrey and Jake’s story. However fast it may have been, there was a lot that happened in that short period that it seemed much longer.
”It really was some sort of kismet that brought us together. We were like two lost souls wandering the world and then bam!”

***************************************

Aubrey Thomas hid behind a mask, using her smart-ass mouth, her ink and piercings to keep everyone away.

She works as a stewardess for her Dad’s small private air charter service, and she finds herself unable to say no when her dad assigns her on another job; so for the next three months or so, she has to try and restrain herself from trying to kill the bad-boy rocker Jake Parker. She doesn’t do rockstars or anyone for that matter, but her body betrays her making herself feel things that she hasn’t felt in a long time

Jake knew what he wanted from the very first time he saw her. Jake is the complete opposite of what you think of a lead singer of a big rock band, he isn’t the asshole man-whore the tabloids made him out to be and he is determined to not stop until he proved it to her
”…that I’m an asshole who doesn’t deserve you? I figured that out the moment I laid eyes on you. Doesn’t mean that I haven’t made it my life’s mission to prove you wrong.”

Aubrey is powerless against Jake, everything he does he goes all out
”When I do things I do it right the first time! Balls to the wall, baby. Balls to the motherfucking wall!”

Aubrey holds her own, she doesn’t care about the fame, she doesn’t care about the money, all she cares about is the man who surprises her every step of the way. She kept her smart-ass mouth which I loved but loosened and finally let him in
”So you took something tragic and turned it into something beautiful. With the tattoos, I mean."

“I guess that’s how I see it. I did it so that I could see beauty instead of the pain.”

Aubrey and Jake, deal with issues of her past that causes harm to Aubrey and Jake is trying to be the man she needs him to be. Jake knows things are moving too fast, but why delay what’s meant to be and as they thought life couldn’t get any better, they’re wrong, everything falls into place.
”I’m ready to fall if you’re the one I fall into.”

************************************************
Some of my Fav quotes from the book:

Aubrey
”Where has this been all my life?” She squeaked excitedly. “Whoever thought of making bacon flavored lip gloss is my hero.” She hugged it tightly.”

Granny
”…you’re gonna pull your big boy pants up and act like a man. My granddaughter needs a strapping boyfriend to be strong not act like a pussy.”

The banter between the rest of the band Blake, Derek and Kevin
”My favorite position is called WOW. It’s where I flip your mom over.”

The banter between Jake and Tim, Aubrey’s dad
”Jake, did you remember your skirt this morning? My dad teased and rolled his eyes.”

“Shut up old man. We all know that Aubrey wears the pants in his relationship.” Jake grinned.

*********************************************

Battlescars was a cute love story that dealt with some struggle of a broken past. It is different from the other rock star romance books I’ve read and when I stopped comparing it, I really liked it. Jake is on the sweeter side of the hero scale to what I’m used to and I did fall for him it just took me a bit longer. Their story is told over a span of less than a year, with the majority of it being in the first 4 months. There were times I found it hard to pinpoint where we were at, as the time span, minutes, days, weeks, sometimes jumps from paragraph to paragraph.

This was another impulse buy and read for me, I tried out the sample and immediately fell in love with Aubrey and her Granny. I didn’t even finish the sample before I decided to buy the book. Overall, I enjoyed their story. I wonder if we get more like of Blake and

That book cover is a fucking liar.

The cover totally drew me in and evoked feelings that promised a certain kind of story. Feelings of intensity. Angst. Passion.

Well guys, just thought I’d let you know -- the actual story? It has NONE OF THOSE THINGS. Fair warning.

Another thing to consider before you buy this book -- if you are looking to read about an intense bad boy rocker, this book does not have that either. I don’t know who that dude on the cover is, maybe he’s the long-lost-way-more-interesting-twin-brother-of-Jake, but make no mistake -- he is NOT Jake. The rocker you’ll read about in this story falls more in the adorable camp and while I’m not adverse to the love interest who is a boy-next-door kind of guy, I was sorely disappointed here because that is not what I was expecting from this book’s synopsis and again, from the cover.

Lastly, the writing is very bad. Unpolished and full of choppy sentences, it screams amateurish first novel (although I have no idea if this is the author’s first novel or not). There were whole sections of this book that read very robotically (sorry, I don’t know how else to describe it. It wasn’t good.) And the barely-there plot was too rushed and the equally almost non-existent conflict was resolved too quickly and all you are left with is a bunch of flat characters doing...nothing.

I don’t recommend this one.

Heck, all was said in the blurb...

this story was filled with everything and anything that you can think of to make it a melting pot of "insta-love, lust, alpha rocker turned overbearing in love grizzly/puppy, a heroine that's annyoing at times then she's melting the hearts all around, then you feel for her cause of the shit she went through from the intense stalker ex boyfrined who really wants to kill her cause he's sick, and well, an eternal love will prevail in the end" kinda romance!

and I dont't really wanna go into details cause I can't think of them all, either...

this story, well, you have 50:50 chance of liking it or disliking it

Wow, what can I say. I'm a sucker for a rock star book, and I swear one day I'm going to learn. There were some really cute/funny lines in the book, which for me saved it from being a complete skim-fest. I just found myself rolling my eyes or thinking "you've got to be kidding me" for most if the book. It's one of the worse cases if insta-love ever. I liked Jake, but honestly, I just couldn't see him as this rock-star hottie. He acted more like a silly middle-schooler most if the time. And, if something could happen, it did, and it happened in a OTT way. There were a lot if little things too - misused words, character actions that make no sense, stilted dialogue.

Not for me.

I really enjoyed Jake and Aubrey's story. It was sweet with a few twists that kept you on edge. I am excited for the next book in the series. I think it will be really good. If you love rockers you are sure to love this book. Check it out.

Boring. I tried. I really did. The characters were flat and not believable. The book felt rushed and told instead of showed. I only read up to 37% and had to put it down. I couldn't stand the main chick. She had her claws out when she first met him & didn't retract those talons until almost 30%. And of course a bad boy rocker, even though he really wasn't a bad boy rocker, fell in love with her instantly. After day 2. Say what?

**SPOILER ALERT**

At 24% I was bored. Main character was winy and not all witty like the Amazon synopsis said or like the book tried to make her out to be. I thought she was just winy.

She wore a tutu, which I've only seen little emo 14 year old girls wear & ballerinas. Not full grown women. While she's wearing a tutu, both the H/h ignore each other at a club for no reason, he kisses another chick, tutu gets mad and runs down the sidewalk, plants her ass down on it, folds her legs like a pouting toddler. Why? Dunno.

I didn't understand their major attraction. After day two they're totally head over heels. He buys her a $50K ring. WTF?

She FLYS home to get a break from him. After one day she gets back on her daddy's plane? Ummm... Do you know how much money it costs in jet fuel to fly back & forth? Tons! Plus her dads business wasn't doing that well so how can she fly around for free on a whim?

At 37% I couldn't take the insanity anymore. I tried. I love musician stories. I've mostly dated musicians. Have lived with one for 9 years now so I totally dig the rocker bad boy shit but this book didn't deliver for me.

Maybe I could bump it up to 2.5 stars

I know that sounds terrible but I'm basing it solely on GR rating system. I can't say that I LIKED this but, I thought it was better than OK. There was something that had me wanting to keep going, something in between the lines, and I tried so hard to find but it just never fully developed. I never fully connected with the characters. I never felt any of their struggles or their emotions. Part of this I think was the fact that the story was VERY rushed. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, happened fast. Way too fast. We were like two days into the story and already the two main characters were acting and talking as if they had known each other for months? Now, I'm all for insta-connections and all, I mean seriously I read ROMANCE, but this was way too ridiculous. Like the heroine Aubrey, I developed a serious case of the eye rolls.

The other problem that this book has is that it suffers from a major case of the tells with none of the shows. That in and of itself takes the reader out of the zone, and it really makes it hard to feel anything at all. Because of this I found myself skimming the pages a little before the halfway point and by the end I literally skipped several pages just to get to the end.

I really liked the premise for this story, I thought it had a lot of potential. Unfortunately, it just didn't do it for me.

This book was very obvious, the plot line, you could see it coming a mile off
description
But surprisingly enough, I didn't dislike it.

Anyway, Im assuming that The band "Blood To Bleed" is named after the Rise Against song - one of my all time favourites actually.
description
Right I will start with the positive things: It was based around music that I like - 3 Days Grace, Adele ect...
The characters were acceptable. Not fantastic but I have read much much worse.
description
Now, on with the negative - Yea, what a fucking surprise that is coming from me.

description

I felt as though the characters developed too fast. its a case of people changing one another in order to make a relationship work. You cant change the person you're with, even if it is for the better, it will never last. They met, married and got pregnant with twins within 3 months... Irresponsible.

description

I think the part of the plot with Jeremy was very forced, it didnt fit in naturally with the book and you could see it throughout that the development of the plot was stilted, there was no build up just 2 incidents resulting in a death. When you were waiting to see whether she would live, theres no tension at all.
description

My biggest complaint.... The editing. Im sorry but it was fucking HORRIFIC. Not a little bit crappy but it was such complete shit that at some parts of the book, I had to read it 3-4 times to even begin to make sense of it.
description

Realistically, I dont have time for that shit.

This book has some good bones to it and definite potential to be fabulous. I was taken with Jake Parker from the minute Aubrey laid her eyes on him. What can I say? I’m a sucker for those bad boy rockers. ;) I was a little taken back by how sensitive and sincere he was though. Aubrey…. Ehhh…. I could do without. She kind of got on my nerves, but I get why she was so needy all the time. What rubbed me the wrong way was her constant saying of how she didn't need him. Her actions spoke louder though. She had some good lines in there too, but I just couldn't connect with her. I wish more could have been done with Ian to emphasize the “feud”. My favorite was Granny Jean! I wish I had a Grandma that cool! The story, overall, felt very rushed to me. Like as a reader, I just felt I was getting glimpses of scenes that should have been immersing me with their emotion they held. I was given a copy of Battlescars in exchange for an honest review.

Was Battlescars absolutely-fan-freakin-tab-U-lous???
description
Battlescars was a perfect NA novel with enough bad boys, rock n roll and sarcasm to leave you panting for more.

Aubrey works as a flight attendant for her families’ small private airline. Hoping for some time off-she instead gets a call from her father about a last minute change of plans. Those plans revolve around Battlescars lead singer Jake. Aubrey is none too happy giving up her vacation in order to fly around the country with a spoiled, self-absorbed rock star. She practically ignores him when they first meet but soon realizes Jake does not fit the rock star stigma like she thought.

Aubrey was one of those joyous characters you love to read about that can easily make you laugh then secretly wish they were your best friend. Aubrey knows no bounds and speaks her mind to everyone about everything making her much more than just another sarcastic and witty girl. ”Salads are for skinny bitches and people with health problems. I’m neither.”-Aubrey Even her appearance is deceiving. She is no blonde eyed cheerleader that’s for sure, but more rock star, with tattoos, piercings and a take-no-shit attitude.

“I like you Aubrey. I can tell by your sarcastic undertones, rude comments and sheer lack of common decency that we’re going to be friends in no time.”-Jake

Aubrey recognizes early on all the hotness that is Jake. But issues from her past have kept her from forming close bonds with anyone outside of her family, particularly guys. Thus the V-card status, but with her brazen and outspoken nature, it’s almost impossible to believe. However, she does not let people close and touching her is a big no-no. Yet with Jake, her problems seem to matter less and less. Jake is able to break through some of the cracks in Aubrey’s wall and together they heal each other.

Jake is sick of being stereotyped just because he is in a band. And has tattoos and is famous. He just wants to be seen as a person. Normal. Aubrey gives him that, without even trying. She never once sees him for anyone else than he is even when he is serenading her in front of thousands of people.
description
I did have a bit of an issue with how fast everything happened. It becomes a case of minor insta-love, since Aubrey gets over her Jake rock-star aversion rather quickly. The day after meeting Jake is begging her not to make him chase her anymore. Considering they just met this whole ‘anymore’ thing really annoyed me, as if he’d been asking her out since middle school. After two days I was wondering why everything was being so rushed considering she was going to be on tour with them for months. Within a few days he’s almost begging her to be his girlfriend. Alas, it all works out and the insta-love thing becomes a minor plot point that is easy to overlook unless you’re a die-hard hater of insta-love.

Jake onstage is something to behold. Sophie Monroe does a phenomenal job of bringing the concert to life. Jake really has a great rocking personality that he utilizes to pump up the crowd. And whenever he would speak to Aubrey during a performance, I swear I swooned.

”She could be my rock n’ roll princess no problem. I wanted that more than anything.”-Jake

I do wish there was more flesh to the story. Particularly, the beginning, giving us more time to get to know the characters before the insta-love connection.

All I’m going to say about Jake and his piercings is WOW and some YOWZA. This whole Jacob’s ladder thing makes your eyes roll all on its own. And the sex between Aubrey and Jake=beyond hot….
description
I do wish the story was longer. At times it feels a bit rushed and added with the insta-love it was like speeding on the expressway. In a few short weeks they are dating and becoming overly serious. Jake is adorable but I was a bit thrown by his sudden prenatal vitamin kick he wanted her on. I’m a sucker for a sweet guy, throw in a baby and I’m a puddle but it was all so rushed. They just get together, a month passes and then he wants to have a baby. Hello, speed bumps please. It worked, just seemed so fast especially with Aubrey and her aversion to men and being touched. The baby part was so fast, but I thoroughly enjoyed Jake’s immense childlike joy at building his own house. When he mentioned incorporating a moat, he worked his way into my heart even more.

I don’t want to say too much more about Battlescars because I really loved it. Aside from wishing the book was longer, everything was wonderfully written and enjoyable to read. The characters were extremely likable if a bit impulsive and Afflicted, the second book in the series should be released in June featuring Blake (band mate and friend of Jake) and Piper (Aubrey’s friend and tattoo artist). Even more exciting is, Afflicted promises to be a bit more risqué and I can’t wait to read all about Piper’s love for BDSM and all that is kinky.
description
Overall Battlescars is everything a rock and roll romance should be. Aside from insta-love haters I would suggest everyone read it, you won’t be disappointed.

**4 ROCK-stars**

This is the story of Jake and Aubrey. Jake is the front man for the rockband Battlescars. Aubrey is Jake's flight attendant and from there, the fireworks go off. They take their time to get to know each other and the sexual tension was driving me crazy. Aubrey has a past and is afraid to let anyone in and Jake also has a past and together they find something they didn't expect.....LOVE. No cliffhanger and a HEA, couldn't get any better than that! Oh and I can't forget to mention Granny Jean.....I'm sure we all have one of these in our family..LOL

"Nice to meet you Mrs. Thompson." Jake says
"Don't give me that Mrs. Thompson shit. Call me Granny Jean, or at least Jean. Damn Aubs he is MIGHTY FINE."
"What are you fuckers looking at? Ain't you ever seen a rock star before?" says Granny Jean

"Why are you fighting the inevitable? I'm not that awful, I promise. I don't bite, unless you're in to that kind of thing, then I'd gladly make an exception."

Jake Parker, the uber-sexy lead singer of the band Battlescars. He was tall, handsome, and covered in tattoos. He also had a reputation, one that i wasn't interested in knowing.

I was so happy to be given an ARC of this by the author and here is my completely honest review: I loved this book. I devoured it.
It's the story of Aubrey and Jake. Aubrey is a stewardess for her dad's private plane company and Jake is a rock star from the band Battlescars. Jake hires Aubrey's dad's company for the duration of his tour which is three months. Not even one hour into the trip and Jake is already smitten. Aubrey isn't so smitten, though. She isn't your typical chick. She's pretty hardcore inside and out. She's got black hair with pink tips and tons of tattoos. She's had a terrible thing happen to her and it has left her pretty scarred towards men and people in general. For some reason, though, Jake is able to break through her wall of defense and see the amazing person she is. Aubrey begins to see that Jake isn't your typical rock star. He is actually a truly caring person, who through out the book continued to surprise me with how good of a person he actually is.
Jake and Aubrey aren't your perfect couple, they have ups and downs, they fight, not to mention they have to deal with the pressures and stress of being in the spotlight, but somehow with the help and love of each other they make it through.
This is such a good book. I couldn't put it down. It's different from other novels, because the characters are so different. Even the supporting characters were amazing. From the band members to Granny Jean, each of them was able to evoke an emotion whether it be a laugh or smile. Sophie did a great job creating them and making them worm their way into your heart.

I'm included my reactions at a few sections in the book:

5% - hello, Jake Parker!
16% - heart melting..
27% - you show him Aubrey!
44% - can't stop reading; eyes stay open! gah so good!
55% - major swoon! *big smiles*
59% - heart completely melted
66% - seriously Sophie?! I was so ready! lol
71% - O-M-G eek!! :0
74% - oh, no! :'( cue waterworks!
100% - <3 :D

As you can see, it's a roller coaster of emotions. I definitely recommend it though! 5 stars

I am really unsure as to give this book two or three stars. It's not that I didn't like the story, I did, but it just never had me enthralled. I just didn't experience the whole 'couldn't put it down and was reading until the wee hours of the morning' with this book.

I really liked the book for the first few chapters. Aubrey was feisty, sarcastic and tough. I loved her humor and especially her reaction the first time she met Jake. Yet, after a while she seemed to lose her edginess that I found intriguing in the beginning. There were a few times that her attitude came back, like when she met some of Jake's groupies, but that was it. One of my favorite quote of her: 'you're spreading rumors about me? At least you found something to spread other than your legs'! I loved this!

Now Jake, well he does have potential, but sadly he does not live up to the whole Rockstar/Badass expectation I had in the beginning. He's a little too weepy for my taste. I mean, sure it's cute what he does for her, but sometimes it was a little exaggerated and therefore unrealistic in my opinion.

The one thing that bothered me most, was that the story was rushed. And I mean rushed! Everything happened incredibly fast. Not only fell they in love in like a week, but also the arising problems are solved in a very fast manner.

Nevertheless, there were some aspects about the book that I really liked. Granny Jean is one of them. I absolutely adore her. She's great and her witty remarks had me laugh every time. 'Good thing I have my library card, 'cause I'm checking you out', is only one of the many remarks that I loved by Granny Jean. I also found Jake's Birthday surprise for Aubrey adorable.

Overall, is a bit more than just ok (by GR categorizing standards), but it also had some weak points. I like the story in itself, but there is definitely room to improve the way it is told. It's still a good read, just not going to be one of my favorites.

Did I read it? No. Will I read it? Uh, no... and I would do a mini-lesson as explanation but why bother? After reading the blurb and skimming the preview, figure people can decide for themselves. Also, if I pick up a sexy story with a bad-assed rocker, in no way will the name "Justin Bieber" EVER be associated with the book.

I see no improvement so it would be more of the same: poorly written, juvenile and beggaring of belief. And now that I know that this author's books are geared towards YA/NA, better to spend time and money on something like Connected or even Olivia Cunning's Sinners on Tour series (despite its cliffhangery endings).

I will note, however, that (1) I've never seen "battle scars" written as a single word, and (2) given an established penchant for music, I can't help but wonder if the book's title is yet another lift from a recent song (albeit written/spelled differently). *eyeroll*

This one just wasn't as good for me as the previous book I read by Sophie Monroe. It was a little long and boring for me. It was too quick and easy for Jake and Aubrey with too much left in the book, so I couldn't understand what else could possibly happen, and I didn't feel like there was any chemistry between them. I thought Aubrey was a bit over the top with her bitchy, don't touch me attitude too.

Hands down to Sophie Monroe.... This book is a must read...

5 ++ Stars.... AMAZING!!! yeah I said it this book keeps your attention not wanting to put it down till you finished it; and is exactly what happened to me..

This book is "Balls to the Wall".... okay where to start.. Love at first sight for Jake was not ever expected especially to Aubury who had her judgement on him before she even meet him. With being a "ROCKSTAR" he was given a reputation and with Aubury past she expected the worst in Jake. Jake was damned from the beginning but he never meet anyone like Aubury and had to get her to give him a chance. Scared from her past she slowly pulled her walls down and started to feel things she has not felt in a very long time and it was hard for her to accept. But once Jake got those walls down it was never what either had ever expected since they both had their own Battlescars from their past.

Every character in this book is Awesome.. from the band members, Aubury's parents, her best friend,Brett (Jake's bodyguard) to the most funny as hell amazing Grandma Jean..

I loved this book and recommend it to anyone that loves Rockstars, feisty - don't give a damn what anyone says woman and LOVE...

With that I can not wait to read more from Mrs. Monroe.. Hands down this book is "Balls to the Wall" Amazing..

I am not very good at this review writing thing but I will give it a shot because I absolutely loved this book! Jake Parker is the "rock god" that no one really understands and people believe him to be the exact opposite of what he is. Aubrey is a beautiful girl that has closed herself off from the world to protect herself from her horrible past and together they learn what love really is. Jake gets her to let down her walls and teaches her to love again by loving her unconditionally.

Battlescars is amazing with so much love between two people it could fill up a room! I loved how the book ended perfectly,

An emotional roller-coaster from start to finish and undoubtedly Sophie Monroe's best book yet! I loved everything about Battlescars. I lost count how many times I teared up either from sadness or joy! Even now, it being a week or so since I finished, I find my mind going back to this story again and again. So I know I will definitely be re-reading Battlescars, which is one of the biggest compliments I could give to an author.

So I didn't think I could love a Sophie Monroe book more than Second Chance Romance but Battlescars is amazing I was hooked 10% in and at 13% I was Facebook stalking Ms Monroe to tell her I was in love. I don't know if I am more obsessed with Jake or Aubrey. I am not sure what book the one star reviewers were reading but it wasn't this gem of a story! Cant wait for Piper's story!

Mohawk, tattoos and piercings! Yes please! I really liked this it was so funny. The sex scenes were moderate not the steam that I would have liked but the love story was good and the characters were really likable. Looking forward to the next one!

I'm quite choosy when it comes to books. But a sucker for Rock Star romances, even though I didn't think this book was entirely perfect, I still didn't mind the ride.

Blurb: Jake is the lead singer for a band called Battlescars, he's gotta mohawk and tons of tattoos and piercings. After just getting off a tour he's called back onto another, he loves the music, but fed up of the crazy fans and work schedule. The media portrays him as a man-whore, but really it was only when he started getting famous.

Aubrey works for her father, he runs a small business hiring out private planes. Aubrey works as a flight attendant. She has tons of tattoos and piercings, along with a bad attitude; apparently she's a real pin up girl. Something happened to her in her past and now she has an aversion to touch.

Jake hires Aubreys' dads plane and meets her. She doesn't like him, instantly thinking he's an asshole, and Jake loves her attitude. They spend some time together and she warms to him, but he knows she's holding back on him and wants to know why.

My opinion: Well I like the storyline, and the characters (cool band members, feisty granny, Aubrey is refreshing; nice to have a rock chick girl in a book for this genre), but something seems off. I'm not entirely sure what it is. It seems rushed at the beginning, Aubrey has an aversion to touch and can't stand anyone but her family to touch her, yet within a day or two Jake can, even though she still thinks he's an ass at this point. Some of the dialogue seems... I don't know... wrong? As if you can't really imagine someone saying that, whether it be because it seems a little false, or too soon in the story, or the fact that they barely know each other and are saying things that require a little more knowledge of the other person. This is why I gave it 3 stars. I really did like the book (characters and story was good, romance and feistyness), but it's just not going up there with my 4 star faves.

I would recommend this to: Rock star romance and Angsty romance book junkies
I wouldn't recommend this to: Erotica fans (despite the look, it's not a steamy one) or people who love realistic dialogue

Battlescars: A Rock & Roll Romance is the second book I have read from Sophie Monroe. I received this copy from the author. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed reading this story. Rock Star Romance is fastly becoming my favorite genre of books. There are so many great Rock Star books out there that Battlescars is no exception.
Jake has the looks of a bad boy rock star but looks can be deceiving. He is funny, loving, loyal, and protective. He loves with everything he has. And Aubrey is one lucky lady. Jake goes to the ends of the earth to make Aubrey happy. He knows he's got a good thing and would do anything to keep Aubrey at his side.

Aubrey is what you see is what you get kind of girl. She is sweet, witty, lovable, and true to her word. She has been hurt big time in the past. Jake makes her feel alive. When she finally opens up to him, there is no doubt that these two have what it takes for a love of a lifetime. Both of their damaged souls fit together so perfectly.
Their are so many amazing characters in this book from Jake's crazy band mates to Aubrey's family which includes her very outspoken Grandmother, and fan girl best friend which I will guarantee you will fall in love with. Such a wonderful combination of true love and the journey you take to hold on to that. There are a few obstacles to overcome in the form of the paparazzi and a unwanted stalker. But no great love story is without a little drama to overcome.
