Now in paperback, New York Times bestselling author Ben Shapiro presents a comprehensive case against Barack Obama’s abuses of power during his time in office.
From the DOJ to the NSA, from the EPA to the Department of Health and Human Services, Barack Obama’s administration has become a labyrinth of corruption and overreach touching every aspect of Americans’ lives. The People vs. Barack Obama strips away the soft media picture of the Obama administration to reveal a regime motivated by pure, unbridled power and details how each scandal has led to dozens of instances of as-yet-unprosecuted counts of espionage, involuntary manslaughter, violation of internal revenue laws, bribery, and obstruction of justice.
The story of the Obama administration is a story of abuse, corruption, and venality on the broadest scale ever to spring from the office of the presidency. President Obama may be the culmination of a century of government growth—but more important, he is the apotheosis of the imperial presidency. Obama chooses when to enforce immigration laws, delays his own Obamacare proposals when it is politically convenient to do so, micromanages the economy, attacks the Supreme Court, Congress, and the sovereign states. And he proclaims that he alone is the voice of the people while encroaching on their rights. In The People vs. Barack Obama , Ben Shapiro brings Obama into the people’s court and addresses each of his abuses of power.

Ben Shapiro is a privileged snob. His contempt for working people and minorities is well known. I thought this was going to be a serious book about Obama's administration similar to something like a Bob Woodward book, but it is nothing more than rightwing hate radio on the written page. Stick to a genuine historian if you want to read about politics. And no, I am not a Democrat.
I had heard the author on the Mark Levin podcast. I am not an Obama fan and do believe that he has committed impeachable offenses. The author cites seven actions that Obama has enacted that under the Constitution are impeachable offenses. There is documentation out the wazoo to substantiate his claims. Flows logically for me.
The difficulty most books of this nature have is defending against claims that it is just bias tilting events toward a particular agenda. Ben Shapiro clearly has an agenda, but it's on built on fact after fact. He provides sources for every claim, quote, and statistic. I am a fan of his writing and radio show because he simply doesn't delve into conjecture. This book is great if you've ever wondered if conservatives' problems with Obama are really because he's black as the media would have you believe. Shapiro clearly shows that Obama's administration has been riddled with scandal and illegal activity.
I'm interested by the book, but I wonder if it's worth my time. Ben Shapiro tend to prefer righteousness over truth. It's not that I think that he's unable to make intelligent critique. It's just that his hubris tower over most of his analysis which in the end render them needlessly abrasive, divisive or non-sensical, or all three at the same time.
While there are many books about the criminality of Obama & his administration, I find this to be the most clear and incisive of them all. Shapiro is an attorney and it certainly comes through in his writing.
Before reading this book, I had a general sense that Obama and his administration were corrupt leftists. I'd heard about Benghazi, Fast and Furious, the IRS targetings, and bribaries, but I had no idea of the details or the scale of corruption that infected this charade of an administration. In fact, corruption is insufficient for what this man was in charge of. "Legalized crime syndicate" and "crime machine"are more fitting. There were times I had to put the book down and just cry at how disgusting and blatant many of the crimes were. There wasn't much separating us from a thuggish, Big Brother, Putin-style government (or worse). Obama is objectively the worst president in American history. Shapiro (who has a law background himself) presents a laundry list of water-tight cases for suing Obama and his administration. Read this book. Arm yourself with the facts of what big government is capable of.
This book hits the sweet spot between explaining the complexities of legality while communicating a message in lay men's terms. A must read if you want to know the truth of the Obama administration that you'll never hear in the mainstream media.
If you are interested in the crimes of Obama and his pathetic administration, then I would recommend this book. If you see corruption and disorder at the highest levels and that frustrates and infuriates you then I would not recommend this book, because you are likely to bash your head against a wall. His contradictions and double speak are amazingly devoid of self awareness. His careful curation of criminal acts is purposeful and precise. His inability to take ownership when things go wrong and his bad habit of pushing blame to someone else while simultaneously claiming the buck stops with him is enough to make you want to puke. You suck Obama.
Very insightful and very thought-provoking in terms of how the Obama Administration would be treated by the federal government, a criminal organization such as the Mafia. Ben Shapiro uses existing jurisprudence to show how under the Rico laws the Obama Administration could be held liable for civil and criminal offenses. This book is a well-thought-out argument with very little political bias and presenting facts as they are. This book is broken down into a very easy to understand fashion and will greatly enjoy anyone who enjoys legal arguments for books about law and law theory.

This was my first "political" book I ever read and MAN OH MAN did it fire me up. I don't rate Obama as the worst President we've ever had, but he would easily make my top 5. Ben's address of the 2012 Benghazi attack haunts me more than any other scandal, and still leaves me with more frustration and anger than any other. As time goes on Biden's Afghanistan withdrawl might supercede it but for now it this book gives a deep level of assurance and makes the lines I draw, and hills I die on very easy to identify.
A compelling and moreish edict that has never had more relevance as Obama’s successor nears his end of his first term. Given the litany of Obama’s misdeeds, it is not wrong to say that Trump is a funhouse mirror reflection of Obama. Have rounded up from the 3.5 I would give as the book’s premise that Obama could be charged under the RICO act is shaky by Ben’s own admittance in his conclusion.
Mr. Shapiro makes a compelling argument that President Obama was/is one of the most criminal, corrupt presidents ever. Benghazi, Fast and Furious, the Zimmerman case, DOJ and IRS interference, targeting his political enemies. Definitely a worthwhile read and it left me wondering what Obama’s defense would be.
I wish I could remember everything I read in this book. Words don't produce actions. Why is he still walking around? Why hasn't he been arrested? Has anyone on the left been arrested? No?
All the reading and seeing the facts doesn't do a bit of good. Do something. Definitely recommend this book.
Amazingly written by Ben Shapiro and the things I learnt within the book, utterly disgusted me by the things that have been done by Obama and the Obama administration, I feel disappointment in myself that I have been fooled by his patriotic and kind facade, when in fact he is the complete opposite of it.
Highlights the numerous failings of the Obama administration. Sadly for the most part the media paid little or no attention to serious issues that arose.
As I was reading this book, I realized that I had vaguely heard of most of these scandals before. The scary part is that it was only vague recollection. I really had no idea the depth of each scandal in his office.
It's funny that Obama says he had a scandal-free presidency (his wife also reiterates this frequently), when he actually had quite a few major scandals. The difference between his presidency versus a republican presidency is that the media gives far more coverage to Republican scandals versus liberal scandals (there are usually scandals on both sides).
Shapiro once again provides a very well researched book and makes his case against the Obama administration.
Regardless of political party, these were some horrifying issues that occurred during his presidency and this book is a reminder that those in power need to be held accountable by the people (we know the media won't)!
On a side note, I read Michelle Obama's memoir while also reading this book, and it was interesting reading both at the same time. You can see my review of her book to see my thoughts on that.
Shapiro makes an excellent case against the conduct of Obama during his time in office. Shapiro describes numerous legal violations that have taken place during Obama's time in office. It's a must-read for everyone from all political persuasions.
